Jennifer Aniston Allegedly Not Keen On How Days of our Lives Will Kill-Off John Aniston’s Character of Victor Kiriakis

Actress Jennifer Aniston is said to be having a difficult time dealing with the passing of her father, soap opera icon John Aniston (Victor, Days of our Lives), death.  The beloved actor passed away back in November of 2022.

In a report from the DailyMail.com, allegedly, Jennifer is struggling with the way the Peacock streaming soap opera has chosen to kill-off the iconic character of Victor Kiriakis.

The outlet reports that DAYS will kill the character off in a plane crash, with the funeral episode expecting to stream ‘in late August or early September’.

According to their source, the reason Jennifer is not too happy about the mechanism of killing Victor is that, “Jennifer hates to fly so this has rubbed her the wrong way but what can she do? They have to explain Victor’s death on the show.”

In newly released tune-in information from DAYS itself, look for the actual fate of Victor to be revealed on the upcoming August 16th episode.

Aniston last appeared on Days of our Lives back on the December 26, 2022 episode.  At that time, the soap opera inserted a memorable montage of some of his key scenes through the years.  Aniston received a Lifetime Achievement Award back in June of 2022 at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremonies.

If this report does turn out to be true, how do you feel about Victor perishing in a plane crash as the way to take the iconic character of the canvas? Let us know in the comment section below.

If they’re going to kill him off on August 16, they might as well just let him die on the toilet like Elvis did.

Seriously though, word here in Hell is that they opted for the plane crash to make it look like Victor went out “on top” instead of looking old and feeble. That would seem a little ridiculous considering all of his scenes the last several years were him sitting in a chair.

Mortals get old. It’s a fact of life.

I do hope that they do more than a “Oops! Victor’s plane crashed and now he’s gone. Let’s get on with the show.” John and Victor deserve more; so do the fans.

One would think the demise of a legendary character would bring about some great family drama, but the state of the Kiriakis family is looking pretty sad right now….

Bo is still a vegetable. His son is drunk, and his daughter is sailing around the world with a serial killer.

Sonny is hanging out with hobbits in New Zealand. His brother Alex is walking into other peoples apartments naked, and their other brothers have never been seen at all (at least not since they were babies)

Phillip has been playing dead for over a year and is about to be replaced by a horrible imposter.

That leaves Maggie, Justin, and Xander. Maybe Brady, if he’s not skipping town to keep his kid away from Kristin.

One wonders if Victor knew a DiMera (Chad) was Maggie’s #2 in the family business before he died?

It’s a hard decision because he was such a big part of the soap. Now it said “they” does that mean Maggy too?

Maggie isn’t going anywhere. She’s currently the longest running contract cast member, since 1973.

Doug & Julie have been there longer, but they’re both “recurring”.

Give it a break ok put this soap down kill him off do it in style then close the doors

A plane crash? That’s almost always used when you want to leave the option for a character to return. For a similar reference, Ron did much better with Edward Quartermaine’s death in 2012 and Asa Buchanan in 2009. DAYS fans better be prepared for a convoluted storyline re: Victor’s will.

GH did kill the first Edward Quartermaine off in a plane crash though… and then he spoke to Lila as a ghost for a while…. before he was eventually found on a desert island somewhere.

I suspect they’re using the plane crash for Victor because he’s been absent since December, with the excuse given that he was “out of the country on business” and then an extended stay in Greece after he found out his son Bo was alive… but sadly had become a vegetable. The plane crash makes more sense, in this context, then to have Victor sick & dying in a bed somewhere, which would require either a dummy, a recast, or some bizzare CGI reconstructed scenes. Any of which would be more distasteful than a plane crash.

How I’m guessing this will play out is that Victor will realize Bo isn’t waking up anytime soon, so he might as well get home to his family & business. And then the Kiriakis corporate jet craps out somewhere over the Atlantic ocean.

Yes, GH did handle David Lewis’ departure that way, but he did not pass away in real life (and was convinced by Gloria Monty – in her short-lived second reign – to return on screen).

Ron actually wrote John Ingle’s passing quite well – just showing a hand.

Viewers wouldn’t want to think a beloved character suffering a gruesome death.

Emily O’ Brien Confirmed as Theresa Donovan Replacement on Days of our Lives

At the end of the October 2nd episode of Days of our Lives, and during its closing credits, Emily O’ Brien was listed in the cast playing the role of Theresa Donovan, which confirms the rumors that Emily is taking over the role from Jen Lilley.

So, what does this mean for O’Brien? Does this mean she is exiting her role of Gwen Rizczech, a part she has played since 2020? It would seem so, but this is DAYS after all, so anything is possible.

As the backstage story goes, Jen Lilley, who had played the role of Theresa on and off since 2013, wanted to appear for a limited-run to be a part of the memorial service episodes for Victor Kiriakis, and honoring the late, John Aniston. Lilley often shared scenes with Aniston.

Photo: JPI

In speaking with Soaps.com on the situation, Lilley thought she was taping episodes during a 3 to 4 window in which she made herself available. However, DAYS actually wrote more episodes of Theresa’s story, and had decided to recast the part with O’Brien  Later, when Jen was told who the actress is, she was a bit mystified as they also told her that the show would put the actress in a blonde wig, because O’Brien was a brunette.
