Great news for daytime fans and in particular those of  CBS’s top sudser, The Young and the Restless!  Daytime Emmy winner, Jess Walton (Jill) whose contract had been up with the series, has decided to stay put!

A major factor in Jess’s decision to stay was the shows’ willingness to work with the actress during her move from California to Oregon, but according to her Facebook page, all has been worked out!

Walton stated, “The show has been very accommodating to me during this move to Oregon and I love them for it!”

We can’t imagine Y&R without Walton’s Jill, and glad we will see more of this amazing talent in the future!

Yes, yes, yes!

Now get “Jill” a man. Y&R screwed up royally by letting Tristan Rogers go. Colin and Jill were so good!

I like Jess Walton. But Brenda Dickson was good and , to some extent, even better than Walton. But I wouldn’t imagine Dickson on Y&R today. The most recent picture I’ve seen from her made her look like a transsexual.

That is a bad picture of Walton

Big Congrats To Jess–Yay! 😀

Yes, please give Jill a story that has her front and center and VITAL. Walton imbues Jill with more depth than writers give her or character credit for!

WONDERFUL news indeed. Y&R wouldn’t be the same without Jess!
I’ve always admired her work! LOL…I even remember her on CAPITAL !….before Y&R !

Congratulations. I love me some JILL and Jess Walton, who happens to be one of the greatest soap recasts of all time. Note to MAB: Utilize your core cast. Debbie Morgan, Darnell Williams, Genie Francis et al are all great actors, but Y&R is historically (before you) a classic slow-moving melodrama, and it takes years and even decades to build strong characters with strong ties to the show. Stop the stunt casting, and stop forcing plot-driven dribble down our throats. Focus on the lives and antics of Victor, Nikki, Jill and all their children, etc, and the ratings will follow.

General Hospital Set To Pay Tribute To The Late Susan Brown

2018 has taken with it some beloved soap opera veterans.  One of them was GH fan favorite, Susan Brown, who died at 86 of Alzheimer’s at the end of August.

GH viewers remember Susan’s performances as Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin.  Gail was Monica’s (Leslie Charleson) best friend, and eventually she married Lee Baldwin (the late Peter Hansen) and was a stepmother to Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).

Kin took to Twitter last week and revealed that General Hospital taped a tribute to Susan that will be seen in an upcoming episode.

In a tweet, he shared, “A tribute show to Susan shot in the can airing soon!”

With GH’s tape schedule we would presume that sometime in January we will be seeing how GH addresses Susan’s passing and thus the fate of Gail.

So, are you glad to hear GH will be doing something very special to honor Susan?

Do you hope that there are major emotional scenes within it for Kin Shriner and Leslie Charleson?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Network Exec, Angelica McDaniel On Y&R’s Staying Power: “We Have This Award-Winning, Ratings-Generating, Money-Making Show, And It Really Adds Value To CBS.”

This week, The Young and the Restless celebrated 30 years as the number-one rated daytime soap opera.  That is a streak of 1,560 weeks in the top spot.

Angelica McDaniel, executive vp daytime programs and syndicated program development at CBS, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter on what has made this remarkable run; attributing it to strong storytelling and a cast that includes several beloved veterans who have been around the entire time.

The executive noted that while other soaps over the years have fallen by the wayside, and even though we are down to only four surviving network soap operas, that Y&R will be around with no end in sight.

McDaniel stated, “We have this award-winning, ratings-generating, money-making show, and it really adds value to CBS. We expect it be a part of our lineup in the future.”

She also added, “The Young and the Restless has some of the best actors in the industry — not in soaps, not in daytime, but in television. We have iconic, legacy characters that have been on our show for decades. Melody Thomas Scott will be celebrating her 40th year on the show in February. Peter Bergman just reached his 30th anniversary in November. Eric Braeden started in 1980. We just have an incredible arsenal of actors who are so talented and play these characters so well that you don’t even realize they’re characters. They become people who are part of your life, part of your daily existence.”

As for the continual investment and ways the audience watches the show on various platforms, McDaniel expresed: “The great thing about daytime television is we have loyal, passionate viewers, and they really like to tune in day and date. They want to stick with their stories and see what’s happening today. … Having said that, The Young and the Restless is also one of the top streamed shows on CBS.com. As trends evolve, we are where our viewers are, and we’re making shows readily accessible so they can get their fix and follow their stories.”

So, what do you think about Y&R? Will it remain if and when all other soaps have come to theirconclusion? Do you think it will continue on for years to come, given its position at number #1? Comment below!

Jacob Young Offers Up Thoughts On Rick and Maya’s Split On The Bold and the Beautiful

As fans of CBS Daytime’s The Bold and the Beautiful know, Daytime Emmy-winner Jacob Young (Rick Forrester) has been off the canvas for some time, and the actor had gone on recurring status with the series.

Young has been busy with other projects involving acting roles, his You Tube show, and music career, but certainly is open to a return to the soap opera.

But after the cover of this week’s Soap Opera Digest hit newsstands; which indicates that Rick and Maya have split with the return on-air of Karla Mosley (Maya) (who had been off the show for maternity leave), it clearly looks like the show is moving in a different direction.

Jacob took to Twitter to offer up his feelings on the matter tweeting: “I for one am incredibly sad and disappointed. Rick and Maya have split. (Love that would never die) I loved working with Karla Mosley.  it has been the highlight of my 21 year career in daytime. TRUST ME when I say your opinion matters.”

Since that posting, fans of the couple known as #Raya, have been voicing their thoughts and sharing photos of the on-screen duo.  Young responded to one in particular saying, “Who remembers this? Gosh, I miss Maya.”  In it,the posting read: “This is heartbreaking, Raya was the only example of what true love looks like on that soap!”

Previously, B&B has told the emotional and socially-relevant love story of a transgender woman falling in love with one of the men of the wealthy and renowned Forrester family.

So, what do you think of Jacob’s comments?  Do you want Rick back on the canvas?  What should then happen next for Maya with no Rick?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
