John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis), one of the most enduring stars of Days of our Lives, has died at the age of 89.

According to a beautiful, yet heart-tugging post on her Instagram, John’s daughter, actress Jennifer Aniston, revealed her father passed away this past Friday.

In tribute to him, Jennifer shared photos through the years with her dad and expressed: “Sweet papa…⁣ John Anthony Aniston .  You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now 🕊️I’ll love you till the end of time💔⁣ Don’t forget to visit 💫🤗❤️”

Since 1985, Aniston had portrayed powerful business man, Victor Kiriakis on DAYS, and remained with the show for over three and half decades.

This past summer at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, John received the Lifetime Achievement Award and was celebrated on-stage by his longtime Days of our Lives’ leading lady, Suzanne Rogers (Maggie), and then in a videotaped message by his daughter, Jennifer.  During the ceremony, John was not present. Previously, Aniston was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance of Victor at the 2017 Daytime Emmy Awards.

Aniston was seen on DAYS during last Friday’s episode of the soap currently streaming on Peacock. On Monday, upon the news of his passing, the official Days of our Lives Twitter handle shared a video (see below) along with these sentiments: “Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston. We love you John. Your legend will live on.”

In addition to his role on Days of Our Lives, John also appeared on the soaps: Search for Tomorrow and Love of Live. He made guest appearances on hit TV shows such as: The West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Star Trek: Voyager, Mad Men, and many more.

John is survived by his wife, actress Sherry Rooney, whom he married in 1984, and their 33-year-old son, Alex Aniston, as well as Jennifer (with his first wife, Nancy Dow), along with his stepson, grandchildren, and family, friends, colleagues, and fans around the world.

RIP Mr. Aniston. How poetic. He was on 11/11, he passed on 11/11 and his character was celebrating his 11th anniversary with his TV wife Thank you for the memories. Condolences to his family and his DAYS family

He certainly will be missed. I’ve watched him on all his soaps. Always steady and commanding in his presence and acting. Condolences to his family and his DAYS castmates and crew.

so so sad right now he was one of the absolute best condolences to his daughter jennifer and the entire days cast he will be missed he had some great one liners too bad he never won a competitive daytime emmy as victor he was phenomenal and that pic of him and peggy mccay from days brings back great soap memories as well . he was also great on search for tomorrow so great that this year he was awarded a lifetime achievement award at emmy’s. a soap legend who will greatly missed

Sad news… such a huge part of the show since the mid 80s. It’s been obvious that his physical health had been declining for a while… it’s been years since Victor was seen doing anything other than sitting in a chair. Yet he was still very sharp mentally, usually delivering “the line of the day”… and I’m pretty sure some of those were probably ad-libs that were so good they had to leave them in. Given the ridiculous taping schedule over at Days, we don’t know exactly when his last airdate (or should we call it “streamdate” now??) will be. But I’m guessing that we will sadly not get to see any scenes between Victor & Bo once he returns to Salem.

Just like Tom, Alice & Stefano, there will never be another Victor Kiriakis. Condolences to Jennifer & the rest of his family and everyone at Days.

I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing.May he rest in peace.God Bless you all.

He will be missed

Too bad the video was unviewable but that voice could never be mistaken. First time I heard it was many years ago on Search For Tomorrow coming from this Greek God that was John Aniston. So thankful for all the wonderful years he’s given us on DOOL and other shows.R.I,P dear man and condolences to your family in real life and on DAYS.

I will miss you. You started coming into my living room for 65 years. Now I cannot get Days since you left NBC. S really you have died twice in being to see you anymore. RIP
