John J. York Back at General Hospital
On Friday, May 10th, General Hospital fans received some wonderful images and news. John J. York who has played the beloved Mac Scorpio on the ABC daytime drama series is back at work and taping all-new episodes of the show.
“Mac is back!” read the General Hospital social media post hashtag. John is pictured with longtime leading lady, Kristina Wagner and in other pics with Wagner, along with his TV son, Josh Kelly. York has played the younger brother of Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) since 1991.
Previously, York announced he was taking time off from GH to undergo treatment for myelodysplastic syndromes and multiple smoldering myeloma (two blood and bone marrow disorders). This included chemo treatments, finding a blood doner match for blood stem cell transplant and more.

Late in 2023, York shared an update on his health on social media. At that time, John expressed, “(Things) are actually going along very well. I’m still in the middle stages of everything.” He added, “I’m feeling really good. Hopefully, hopefully, things go the way they are, maybe be back on the show late spring, early summer.
York’s return pics were greeted with wonderful excitement from his GH co-stars on the Instagram post, including co-stars Finola Hughes (Anna) and Cameron Mathison (Drew).
Michael Fairman TV is wishing John well, and thrilled to see he is back at work.

The best news in a long time! Hope John’s recovery is going smooth and we are blessed with Mac in PC for years to come!
Wonderful news! “Mac” has always been one of my favorite GH characters and I HOPE these new writers do “write” by giving Mac one fantastic relationship with Cody. So happy for Jon York; I’m so glad to hear he’s well on his way to restored good health. May it continue…
Doing “write” by John and his character would be for them to create a storyline based on the ACTUAL, ACCURATE history of his character. Such a story would have Mac at its center. It wouldnt have Mac playing second fiddle to a shallow cardboard character like Cody played by an “actor” who only got cast on GH because Frank Valentini is his former boss ( on OLTL) and he desperately begged Frank for a job! Let’s get real here. Both John J York and his Iconic character deserve so much better!
Always loved Mac. Can’t wait for “Mac’s” return and to FINALLY have Cody tell him he’s his son. I’m hoping these new writers know how to write a warm/loving father/son relationship for Cody and Mac; both characters are deserving of a wonderful father/son relationship and I’m really looking forward to it!
So happy for John! I was devastated to hear the news that he wasn’t well, encouraged and hopeful when he found a donor, and now relieved to know he’s doing well. Best to you John! So looking forward to you back on GH; you were missed!
Absolutely wonderful news. I love John and am so happy he’s back at work. Congratulations on your recovery John. Stay strong and well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best news of the day. John has been missed by all and I’m so glad he’s feeling good!
Welcome back John!!!
Yessss!!
The nicest man ever!! So happy he is doing better
Awesome news! So glad to hear that John is apparently doing well and back on the show. He’s an inspiration, to be dealing with not one but two blood and bone marrow disorders, and to be able to return to work in a relatively short amount of time, all things considered. God bless him, and best wishes that his recovery continues to go well!
It will be great to have Mac back home in Port Charles, and I look forward to them finally being able to move along the Mac/Cody story. As Rebecca commented, and I agree 100%, I would love to see Mac and Cody develop a father/son relationship, as well as with Maxie and the kids, and Cody’s uncle Robert.
A great welcome back story for him would be to have Frisco come back and get Mac and Felicia involved in some mess that he’s in. That would make for great story and some great scenes.
So happy our “Big Mac” is back where he belongs.Your family isnt the same without you. Hope you find out that you are Cody’s dad. Stay well!
Wonderful, wonderful news! So happy he’s well enough to return. He’s been missed. Best Wishes for continued good health. I look forward to seeing John/Mac grace our TV’s again.
I am so thrilled that “Mac is Back !!!!” Finally, some good news out of GH. Keeping York in my prayers !
Yay, is he reentering by ship, like the 1st time he entered Port Charles? Great news! Sgmkj!
So happy he’s back missed him
So glad he’s back and healthy
Yes !!! I have missed seeing his handsome face. I’m so glad that he’s feeling better and I hope that he’s back for a long time
That’s great to hear! Hopefully he’ll be on more than two or three times a year now.
Im thrilled that John has recovered. I had literally thousands of viewers praying for his health on my GH Historical Museum Facebook Page ( It has 12K followers and the average post reaches at least 3K people).
But to be honest I dont look forward to his return to GH. The show has marginalized him for far too long. Im also not a fan of how Valentini completely rewrote Mac and Dominque’s history just to prop up the hiring of another one of his OLTL cronies Josh Kelly ( Cody).
John deserves a story that recounts the rich past of his character not to be in the shadow of another pointless GH newbie. SMH
I was just wondering how John York was…then I woke to this good news. I can’t wait for his return to the screen.
Wonderful news.
awesome news, God bless, Mac is Back!!!
Best GH news in months. So happy to have him back and he looks fantastic. Now come on lets do the son reveal ASAP

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
