The Los Angeles police department is ramping up its search for to the whereabouts of the three thieves, who got away after one fatally shot former General Hospital cast member, Johnny Wactor (ex-Brando Corbin) in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 26th in downtown Los Angeles.

Law enforcement sources told the LA Times that police are trying to pull fingerprints from Wactor’s vehicle and are looking for video from the area. They also are checking to see whether there are any connections to other nearby catalytic converter thefts.

The thieves were attempting to steal the catalytic converter from Wactor’s car at the time of his death. Sadly, the LAPD investigators shared they have seen an uptick in violence when these types of thieves are confronted.

Catalytic converters contain precious metals in which thieves can make hundreds of dollars selling them to auto parts suppliers or scrap yards, where they can be melted down and the valuable metals extracted.

In addition, on Tuesday May 28th, the LAPD shared more on the incident that took Wactor’s life, stating, “Without provocation, the victim was shot by one of the individuals. The three suspects involved were wearing all dark clothing and driving a dark-colored sedan. The suspects fled northbound on Hope Street. Central Bureau Homicide is investigating this case and is requesting the public’s help.”

The more we learn, the sadder this becomes. Johnny/Brando was a wonderful person who saved the life of his co-worker, so his final moments of life were heroic, though tragic beyond. I, too, loved him on GH and was hoping to find a way for a return. But what truly is important is for the family and those close to Johnny know that there is a very broad spread big hug from the entire GH community who all fell in love with Brando. He was incredibly special, and will be missed extremely. And fingers crossed the LAPD finds who did this unconscionable act, and brings them all to justice for the remainders of their lives. $300 for the precious metals – really???

Agree 100%

This is all so needless and tragic. Johnny Wactor was certainly a well-loved, admired, and respected colleague who had more to give this world.

The fact that it was a well-known actor brings more attention to the case. I am betting these guys are kicking the one who shot him now due to the notoriety because they won’t get away with this one. Somebody out there knows something and I won’t be surprised if the police offer a reward. The idiots who caused this tragedy will undoubtedly brag about “killing the actor” to someone.

Hope they find these stupid ignorant people soon before they kill someone else.

I pray they find them but for the last several years we have been letting the thugs go nuts and this man who by all accounts was a victim . I truly hope it stops . We are letting the thugs come in and steal with no consequences I pray it stops burning of buildings rushing into dept stores stealing beating people on the streets for no reason I’m glad my family lives in a safe city . We need to wake up and get this right

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
