Jordi Vilasuso Joins The Cast Of The Young and the Restless
Soap vet, Jordi Vilasuso is heading to Genoa City!
Casting news out of Soap Opera Digest is that the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, will play the role of Ray who is said to be a mysterious stranger who finds himself immersed in the drama in town.
Look for Jordi to make his Y&R debut on the Friday, August 17th episode.
Daytime fans last saw Jordi as Dario on Days of our Lives. He exited when the character was written-off and into the Witness Protection Program.
Jordi won is Daytime Emmy for his role as Tony Santos on Guiding Light.
So, do you think Jordi will play a good guy, or a bad guy this time out on Y&R? Comment below.
They Need A Bad Guy So I Say He will Play A Bad Guy Girls Go Crazy For Bad Guys
I don’t care if he’s good or bad, I just like watching him!!! 🙂
Not this girl, Lynn……unless he’s hot !! LOL. I do not like this actor. Just being honest.
Is he related to Arturo? I do not trust Arturo….maybe they are a team? Bad guys in good guys ‘masks’? Ha!
I think he is a Adam recast probably wrong
I don’t know, Kay….he is too ethnic looking to be Adam. But, one never knows…
Adam went from dark hair to being a blonde, then back to black. Simply amazing. So stupid. LOL.
I don’t the actor either. 🙁
Well he is indeed a handsome devil!
Hi sweet Cee,
Completely agree… don’t like Arturo either
annoyed me from day one. Can’t believe Nicki had a fling w/ him yuck‼️
Hello, ma belle amie…
I didn’t mind Arturo at first….Now? I can’t shake this feeling he’s up to something nefarious and this new guy ( not my kind of a hot, sexy male, LOL) is here to help him with whatever Arturo has planned.
I CAN believe Nikki had a few rolls in the hay with him……Afterall, isn’t that her modus operandi?
Fanny, my lady; I have been watching this soap since I was three or four….didn’t understand much, but when I was old enough to ken what was going on, Nikki has always been prone to ‘stray’. I wouldn’t go as far as calling her ‘une fille dela nuit’ in her youth, but….marriage vows be damned. She even had sex with Cole, Victoria’s husband; if I’m not mistaken.
So, the question is….why would such a young, virile guy take Nikki to bed, when he could have anyone? He’s after something—moved straight to Abby at breakneck speed. LOL.
Ma Cherie Cee,
I’ve only been watching Y&R for 3 years this summer… still have a lot to catch-up on, having fun along the way. Faithfully watching GH for decades w/ the help of a FF button to filter out the nonsense, otherwise it’s been a decent RIDE full of greatness at times. Back in the DAY while following DOOL …during
Bo & Hope’s reign, my sister & I took
an over night “soap Cruise “ around Hudson island so we could meet Ari’s soap crush Drake H. We laughed until we cried & promised ourselves never to do a repeat performance of a tug boat tour to nowhere …unless it was on “Viking”.
Fun time memories… Hope U & your
family R having a lovely summer sweet Cee.
Chere Fanny,
WOW!! That does sound like you had the time of your life….and with your sister!! I have three sisters, my lady……aren’t they the best?? Especially my twin….you know it’s true what they say? Yes, we finish each other’s sentences. LOL.
Y&R has always been my favorite soap. Another World was a close second, with OLTL, AMC, and PASSIONS. The latter was a little ‘out there’, but so fun to watch….loved “Timmy”.
We are having a very busy summer. I have a big family and we take our vacations together, most of the time……all the children drive us a little batty when together; but I wouldn’t have it any other way….family is everything.
Thanks you for asking, belle madame….I wish you the same.
A bientot.
I agree don’t like Arturo at all, I cringe when him and Abby kiss.
This new guy is very handsome. Who could he possibly be for. To old for Summer.
There is a shortage of men … Victoria, Sharon, Abby, and now Summer all need something fun in their lives…he would have made a great GH Dante!!
Dante would make much more sense, considering Sonny’s Hispanic heritage, Elite Advisors.
I just want someone for Sharon that will live her warts and all everybody deserves that ! Phyllis had done far worse things then Djaron but yet Nick forgives her so I hope she moves on
I love Sharon, Kay….always pulled for her and Nick.
Phyllis? Hmmmm…..had we been talking about Stafford, I would give you a different response because I am biased when it comes to her….I admit it.
But PhakePhyllis ain’t doing it right!!!!
She and Nick will hit the sheets, AGAIN…..sooo typical….over and over….
Maybe, Jordi will hook up with Sharon. She does deserve happiness….but, do it with aplomb….not rush into it.
Poor Sharon is destined to be standing under a perpetual dark cloud like Eeyore ( from Winnie the Pooh), LOL.
As Eeyore is wont to say, “Most likely lose it again, anyway”.
Victoria could use a love interes. I don’t think there’s a shortage of young men. You have Kyle and Ravi (whom you never see). I keep thinking Ravi and Summer would make a great pair–he could ground her, make her more of a visionary and less materialistic and shallow.
So sorry, but Jordi, is way much more man, than Lulu could ever handle.
I didn’t care for him on GL but sometimes a new character can change my mind. I just hope it’s not another man/boy toy in need of a razor who finds his way into Nikki’s clutches.
Ain’t that the truth, Soaphound.
Hopefully a bad guy. Loved him on Guiding Light.
I’m thinking he is for Victoria.
Bad guy with a heart of gold!
Please NOT an evil guy! Vic has that role covered.
I like this actor and hope Y&R has developed a strong character with a long-term story line so it is not a fly-by-night extended cameo appearance. Genoa City needs someone a good bad boy with sex appeal.
Not watching the young in the no more
I really like this actor. I think he could easily be Arturo’s older brother. I do not understand why some keep saying Arturo is suspicious. He hasn’t done anything to warrant it. So what if he had a sex thing going with Nikki, they are both consenting adults.
Bravo, Jordi!
The only beef that I have with this casting is that YR has a no raise policy. They need to get their budget under control first.
I am thinking that perhaps he will play Adam, it says he is introduced as a mysterious stranger named Ray, I’m thinking Adam when ANOTHER new face due to the explosion. We need Adam to come back, the show needs the multi-dementional fabulous Adam! I held out hope for Michael Muhney, but it’s never gonna happen, and at this point they need to fill the void.
thats my thought adam with a new face who cares id he is ethic looking he could be adam and hook up with sharon
Now this is exciting. He would have made a great Adam Newman since it doesn’t look like the writers want to give M.M, (Michael Muhney) back to us fans.
No, he wouldn’t. Not exciting either.
I agree, Momo. Jordi was on DOOL, not too long ago.
You know how we either take to an actor or not? Well, something about him did not mesh with me. Unreasonable of me? Perhaps.
I will give him a chance. As Soaphound said, sometimes a new role shines a different light upon the ‘subject’, LOL.
I think Jordi will play a character with no established back story or pre-planned arc who floats through Genoa City looking for a storyline like the majority of the cast. When a show wastes the talents of Eileen Davidson for the better part of the last year while bringing on boring new characters like Arturo and Shauna it’s time for a new creative team…
Eileen didn’t have a storyline. Don’t know how she won an Emmy. Not saying she’s not talented, because she is.
I with Shauna would go too. Maybe now that Hilary is gone, she will. Arturo hasn’t really meshed either.
We have great actors already on the show who need story. Give them a story before adding more characters who will contribute nothing.
All the soaps are doing that just how it goes
I had not read this comment of yours, yet, Momo….weird how we both used the word ‘mesh’…..great minds….LOL.
If Shauna wouldn’t try so hard, she’d be much more effective ( not that I’m an expert), but when she scrunches up her face, constantly, it becomes annoying.
It’s like that is the only expression she has mastered….frozen in place. Was she brought as THE catalyst to expefite Hilary’s demise? Too bad!! What an awful ending for one of the best on daytime…..or primetime, if she wanted ….
🙂
I will miss Hilary/Mishael. Haven’t always liked Hilary, but she grew on me. Wonder what they’ll do with the GC Buzz.
The whole brother’s in rehab storyline doesn’t ring true. That’s part of my issue with Shauna, and then I think she’s more annoying than anything. And Hilary and Devon gave her way too much freedom. Going away for the weekend and letting her stay in the penthouse alone. Strange.
Shauna is fifteen? Knows too much, if you ask me. I wasn’t even allowed to date at that age…..and when I finally was, a year later, my sister and I HAD to double date. Never alone.
Yes, the brother thing is sort of lame. But, you know, Momo….some parents truly are very lax with their teen kids in real life.
But, I will bite my tongue. I don’t want to jinx myself….my children are nine ( in two and a half weeks) and four respectively. We try our best to keep things on an even keel….and, they do have some priviliges taken away when necessary.
I’m glad to see him get this. i felt he didn’t get what he should have at DAYS. Looking forward to catching him on Y&R.
You don’t need another evil guy ….Abby needs someone
Not happy with this. I was so glad when he left Days. I don’t want him on another of my soaps.
Just hope he doesn’t end up with Sharon, Nikki or Victoria…..so over those affairs!
After today’s show please be for Sharon and Sharon kick that bastard out of your house that pompous horney ass! Nobody treats a person you love like this I hate what they have done with him but hey the actor got wanted he wanted! Newsflash Case has been carry your no talent behind for years
I am laughing so hard! I watched the show today while at lunch. We knew that’s where they were headed…the kitchen counter! haha
Disgusting of course she would do it anywhere I hate her character and I loathe nick two seconds and he has no regard for Sharon I am so very sorry I ever supported this couple ! Nick would screw a snake if it stood still long enough as bad as I hate Victor I hope he takes that kid to task he is not a man he is a spoiled child ! Everything he has Daddy gave him
Oh, Kay….even when upset, you are too funny. A snake? How? Where?
But, yes….you are absolutely right. I cannot believe it!! I regret supporting the couple, as well.
It seems Nick can’t keep it in his pants….same fallen hero? How many times can he do that?
This development came out of nowhere….why is it with these writers? On all soaps? Can you imagine each time we have a disagreement with our mate, we go out and do it with someone else? What is that all about?
Nick is not a man….no true man would do that. Spoiled brat, indeed!!
I hope what he and Flaky PhakePhyllis are proud of themselves.
Will they explain it away as usual?
I missed it, dmr….I was en route for seven hours…..It was not recorded either. I have to go to my grandmother’s to watch it. I forgot to set my DVR.
Where did it happen? Summer’s penthouse? LOL.
I hope PhakePhyllis break an arm and a leg. Ha!
Hey c I can’t ever really support Sharon and Nick I wanted to but the writers when they lost Cassie losing a child and then screw on your wife when she needs you the most! That’s why I could never back Phyllis and Nick even when Stafford was in the role ! Stafford was at her best in the early nineties when Bill Bell was writing for the character well all of the characters were Paul had wonderful stories very sad ask your grandmother it was once a wonderful show you wanted to watch every day he created characters and you cared about them
Not silly plots
When Bill Bell passed away the heart of the show died too Kay Alden and Sally were trying to bring it back but Sony threw them away makes you wonder if they want the show to die also
So totally agree 100% k/kay but I think the heart of the show died when they let Kay Alden and a lot of the behind the scenes staff go in 2006…I had high hopes with Sally and Kay but like you said, SONY/CBS blew it and it’s disgusting that they let this classic daytime drama that Bill Bell created go the direction it has…
Any kind of guy is OK with me.I especially liked him years ago on GL, AMC, and more recently DOOL, but not as much as the other two. I was thinking he might be related to Arturo.
Love his work!
Jordi Vilasuso’s character will be entangled in Black Horse and with Arturo,,
Nick will need all the help he can get because Victor will chew Nick up and spit him out.
Victor will regain his throne.
Jordi is a very good actor. I watched him on Guiding Light and am sure he’ll do a great job (whatever the role) on Y & R. Give him a chance to settle in. He won’t disappoint fans.
I am glad they are bringing Jordi to Y & R. I had hoped he would return to Days of our Lives.

Hayden Panettiere Remembered: ‘Guiding Light’ and More Stars Mourn Her Loss in Wake of Tragic Death

Tributes continue to pour in from the entertainment and soap opera community, and especially from former co-stars of Hayden Panettiere, who died on Sunday at the age of 36.
Panetierre was best-known to soap fans for her roles as as a young Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light and Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live, and as an adult in ABC’s music city primetime soap opera, Nashville where she starred as Juliette Barnes opposite General Hospital alum, Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville).
As previously reported, Panettiere died on Sunday afternoon, August 16 in a home in Greenville, South Carolina. The coroner released an official statement on Monday, which read in part “no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death. The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies.” First responders rushed to the scene after a 911 call about a woman who was unresponsive from an overdose and in cardiac arrest.

Now below, check out some of the heartfelt remembrances for the extraordinarily talented, Hayden Panettiere from several of her Guiding Light co-stars and more. Michael Fairman TV will continue to add to the list of tributes throughout the next few days as they become available, as well as keep you updated on any further developments in Panettiere’s death.
Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines, GL): “Hayden played my daughter for 3 years. She was the most brilliant child actor I’ve ever seen. The things she could do, the way she could remember 20+ pages of dialogue, day after day. Even on days where the director would come out between dress and tape and make huge cuts to the scenes, Hayden, never once forgot a line or missed her blocking. The adults would, but not Hayden. I felt blessed to work with her. And always perfect in her playing of the scene.”
Connie Britton (Rayna James, Nashville): “This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright. I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak.
I love you girl. Sleep easy now. 💔”
Tina Sloan (Lillian Raines, GL): “Hayden Panettiere was my granddaughter on Guiding Light. She died at 36 and was such a star.”
Rebecca Budig (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL, now Taylor, B&B): “I remember working alongside her..loved her and her family. She and Beth were spectacular together. So sad for her family and those who knew and loved her.”
Karla Mosley: (Dani Dupree, BTG) “This is awful awful news. Blessings to her soul and all who loved her.”

Photo: CBS
Bethany Joy Lenz: (ex-Michelle Bauer, GL) “There is nothing that posting pictures on the internet can do. I avoid it usually in moments like this. But Im here with my head in my hands and I don’t know what else to do in aside from praying for her soul, which I have done and will continue. I’m crushed. I knew the wild little blonde. Was she nine? Ten? I was eighteen. She ran through the Screen Gem studio hallways at 222 E44th St. laughing and playing games in between Guiding Light blocking and camera rehearsals. Long, unruly curls trailing behind her. She knew her lines and everyone else’s. Her intelligence was astonishing. She understood scenes and nuance and human struggle like no child I’d ever seen on camera. And she’d sit with you for a great conversation, then giggle and go play. We’d connect on and off over the years, like the cousin in the family reunion who got famous and life moved her away—but I always felt such joy seeing her when we were lucky enough to cross paths. We’d make a pact to talk soon. Lunch. Dinner. Somewhere we could curl up into a corner—but we never quite made it happen. I mostly stayed up to date through mutual friends.”
Lenz continued, “I don’t understand how this is real. Everything seemed to be turning around. She was coming BACK to life, wasn’t she? It’s too young and there’s still so much more life. And her daughter…. Hayden, you are surround by love. I’m sorry for every moment I didn’t reach out or check in. This can’t be real. These are moments of how I knew you, in glimpses over 26 years. I don’t know how to process this. I am praying for you to know the peace of God now and always.”
Brittany Snow: (ex-Daisy Lemay, GL) “I was lucky enough to play your sister for 3 years. I related to you so much in so many ways. Ways that I never even told you. Your talent was remarkable & so was your determination to be a bold, bright shining light. And you were. Always supportive, curious, funny and brave. You will always be remembered undoubtedly for your undeniable strength and spirit 💔.”

Photo: CestenIG
Charles Esten (ex-Deacon Clayborne, Nashville): Patty (Esten’s wife) and I are stunned and saddened at the loss of our dear and beautiful friend Hayden. I will never forget the first time I met her. In a sound stage office in Hollywood, I was finishing up my very first NASHVILLE audition. I had read two Deacon scenes before pulling out my guitar and singing two songs. I said my goodbyes and, hoping I’d done well, went to open the door to leave. Instead of swinging all the way out, the door bumped into somebody. Kinda hard.”
“To my complete surprise, It was Hayden Paniettiere, who – in full Juliette Barnes mode – had been listening with her ear to the door. Instead of looking even a little bit caught, her face instantly bloomed into the most beautiful smile. Eyes twinkling, she clapped her hands and said, “That was so good!!” I can promise you that in that moment, there was nothing in the world I needed to hear more than that. I told her that, along with my HEROES-watching family, I was already a big fan of hers, and that I was grateful for the very kind words. It was her turn to go in, so as I went to leave, I said a jokingly cocky, “See you on the set!”
“I was, of course, many auditions away from landing that incredible role. But when I finally did, and showed up in Nashville to start work, she walked right up to me, pointed in my face, and with that magical grin said, “See you on the set!” From there, we became fast friends, working very hard to play those 2 troubled Nashvillians, but always having fun and laughing a whole lot along the way. She was, of course, extraordinarily talented, infusing her larger-than-life character with all the heart, charisma, humor, whip-smart intelligence, and flat-out magic that were, alongside whatever troubles and pain she carried, a part of her own personal palette. What a great gift it was to act with her, sing with her, and to just be her friend. She was always extremely kind to my family, especially my wife, Patty, who I’m certain she liked even more than me.”
Together, we are heartbroken that she is gone, and praying for her family, and for all those who, like us, will miss and mourn her so dearly. God bless you, Hayden.
Rest In Peace and Light ❤️
Emme Rylan: (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, GL et al.)” So very sad. Rest in peace sweet soul.”
Bryan Craig: (ex-Morgan, GH) posted a text exchange via his Instagram story he had with Panettiere where they laughed about her making fun of his hat. He wrote: “Love you Hayden. Rest in peace Angel.” Craig later added, “Cherish the moments with people you love and care about. As cliche as it sounds. Send that text, get that cup of coffee, tell them you love them and you’re proud of them. You may not get the chance again.”

John Oliver Recaps His ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘General Hospital’ Soap Opera Experience on ‘Last Week Tonight’

Last Week Tonight host, John Oliver had his soap dreams come true on not one, but two long-running daytime dramas, heralding it his “hot soap summer” on the Sunday night, August 16 edition of his HBO series.
As viewers recall, Oliver’s tour of soap duty began back in March when he made a request and an offer to appear in any daytime drama that would have him with certain conditions, which included: having a ridiculous and over the top character name, a juicy storyline, and a slap.
Both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital came a-calling for Oliver, taking him up on his offer and in short order. Oliver appeared on GH in the role of the head of the WSB named Z on episodes airing July 2-6, and then on DAYS in the role of Salem’s chief water inspector, Devlin St. John, in episodes that streamed the week of August 11.

Photo: ABC
FIRST STOP, PORT CHARLES
On Last Week Tonight, Oliver shared that both soaps delivered, and then launched into a comedic send-up complete with clips from some of his scenes. Starting with General Hospital.
Oliver said, “To General Hospital’s credit, they met all my requirements and more. First, my character got to arrive by a helicopter flanked by a pair of armed goons. And I got to do a dramatic walk during which I bravely shot in the general direction of a guy who was already on the ground. It’s called being an action star, by the way, unless you’re me or Vin Diesel, you really wouldn’t understand. And then in my next scene, I revealed my true identity. (Oliver played the scene where Josslyn wakes up in a hospital bed with Z standing at the side of her bed introducing himself).
He continued, “As for getting slapped, well, they knocked that and me out of the park too, because it turns out that agent’s mother was not happy with me,” explained Oliver, as they cut to the slap of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) in the WSB Port Charles bureau office on Z. Oliver screamed, “YES! It has everything! A slap, a dramatic closeup, and me doing a voice so wrong, it is genuinely embarrassing. That was my honest attempt at an American accent. I can’t tell you why it’s southern. I can only tell you I was trying my hardest.”

Photo: ABC
SECOND STOP, SALEM
Then, came John’s wrap-up of his role of Devlin St. John on Days of Our Lives, the town’s chief city water inspector. “It is on Days of Our Lives I appeared in scenes alongside soap legends like Jackée Harry (Paulina) and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). And the Days of Our Lives team met my demands in a whole different way because instead of being an international spy boss, they wrote me a character a little more my speed.”
Cut to a clip of Oliver introducing himself as Devlin St. John to Rita. He explains, “I’m the only thing standing between this town and a catastrophic plumbing failure. A literal sewage apocalypse. They made me Salem’s Chief City Water Inspector, which let’s be honest, is perfect casting. If you’re going to bottle my essence and sell it as cologne, it would be called ‘Chief City Water Inspector.'”
DEVLIN’S WIG
The late night host also clarified all the reports, that the wig he wore for his DAYS character he actually brought from home. “Now, as for the hair, I agree, it’s absolutely incredible. It’s been reported this past week that it is a wig I brought to set from home. And while it wasn’t technically from home, we did actually provide that wig, and for good reason,” joked Oliver. “I’ve seen myself act. I knew the hair was going have to do 90% of the work. I’ll be honest, I was going for a healthy John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH) look, but instead, it appears I ended up looking more like Tina from Bob’s Burgers.”

Photo: Corday Productions
“And if you’re wondering whether I got slapped on Days of Our Lives, not only was I slapped by a man wearing elegant silk pajamas (EJ), I also got to slap him, which felt utterly incredible. But wait, I was also stabbed with a syringe and not once, not even twice, but three different times. And if that wasn’t enough, this happened too.” At that point, Oliver played the clip of Rita using the taser on Devlin.
JOHN OLIVER LEAVES DOOR OPEN FOR A SOAP RETURN
The now late night star-turned-soap actor concluded his segment with, “Are you not entertained? Watching that makes me feel the way I assume Matt Damon felt after seeing the first cut of the Odyssey, both proud and impressed that my body could even do that. Which again, you wouldn’t understand. You’re not an action star like I am now. ”
As he ended his recap, Oliver thanked both soaps for playing along, and noting that neither DAYS or GH actually killed him off! Could a John Oliver return happen down the line? Stay tuned.
Watch John detail his soap dreams come to life on General Hospital and then Days of our Lives below.
Now let us know, what did you think of the performances of John Oliver on General Hospital and Days of our Lives? Did you prefer one over the other or enjoy both of his guest arc visits? Could you see Oliver nominated in the Guest Performer category at next year’s Daytime Emmys, even for a 3-episode run on one of the soaps? Let us know in the comment section.
