Judith Light Joins Cast of Starz Horror Comedy Series, ‘Shining Vale’

Photo: JPI

This oughta be good! Two-time Tony and Daytime Emmy-winning star, Judith Light (Ex-Karen, One Life to Live) has been cast and is set to join yet another exciting new project.  This one is a comedy horror series on the Starz cable network.

In the upcoming series, Shining Vale, Light will star opposite Friends favorite, Courteney Cox, along with Mira Sorvino and Greg Kinnear.

According to Deadline, in story, Shining Vale follows a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. But no one seems to notice except for Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Cox), who’s convinced she’s either depressed or possessed – turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same.

Judith will play “Pat’s” mom, Joan and her character is said to be a: “Lithium-infused mother, who has long battled mental illness, and her daughter. Joan is vain and hyper-critical, taking any opportunity to recall her prized youth, or belittle Pat. Of all the horrors that Pat faces, becoming Joan is the most frightening– and most real.”

In addition to Shining Vale, Light will soon be seen in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tick,Tick… Boom! Judith is also working on her series, Shadows in the Vineyard, in which she is executive producer and will co-star.

What do you think of the on-screen mother/daughter duo of Judith Light and Courteney Cox in this new comedy? Share your thoughts below.

So glad to hear that she’s so busy. No matter what the role, the super talented Judith Light always gives an excellent performance. She is joining a wonderful cast with Ms. Cox, Ms. Sorvino and Mr. Kinnear. Joan sounds like a fascinating character that Judith can really sink her teeth into.

PS: I still miss the unforgettable Karen Woleck and our beloved One Life to Live.

Nancy Lee Grahn Debuted 25 Years Ago Today as General Hospital’s Alexis Davis

Back on September 26th, 1996, (25 years ago today!) the new character of Alexis Davis made her debut on ABC’s General Hospital, and brought to the iconic soap opera, the talents of Nancy Lee Grahn.

Grahn, had already made a name for herself with her captivating portrayal of lawyer Julia Wainwright Capwell on Santa Barbara for which she won a Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy in 1989, in a tie with AMC’s Debbi Morgan.

Back in April, General Hospital, marked this milestone with a special episode for Grahn, that could be remembered come next year’s Emmys.

Alexis, or shall we call her “Natasha”, was introduced on GH as the daughter of Mikkos Cassadine and his mistress, whose throat was slit by Helena Cassadine, which has played into Alexis’ story for many years to come.  At the time of her entrance to the show, Wendy Riche was GH’s executive producer.

Through the years, viewers have witnessed Grahn’s portrayal of: a tough legal eagle, an honest depiction of a woman battling the bottle, failed romances, while all the time being a loving and faithful mother to her three daughters, Sam, Molly, and Kristina.

Nancy won her second Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy, this time for her role as Alexis in 2012, and has been a multi-nominee in the Lead Actress category for her performances on the ABC daytime drama series.

Here’s to Nancy for giving us 25 years of her on-screen work as Alexis!

Congratulate Nancy and tell us your favorite Alexis Davis moments via the comment section below.
