Karla Mosley On Maya's Transgender Reveal: "Many Thanks To Patrick Mulcahey For The Beautiful Words In This & The Last Episode …"

Monday, The Bold and the Beautiful officially turned 28-years-old, and illustrating it is trying to reflect the times we live in, the series continued its cliffhanger from last Wednesday (the show was preempted by the College Basketball championships), where in a stunning reveal, viewers learn that the character they have come to know as Maya Avant was actually born Myron Avant. The bombshell came courtesy of Maya’s younger sister Nicole, who had the information from a birth certificate and then got Maya to admit the truth on today’s pick-up.

In another nuanced and touching performance by Karla Mosley, who is knocking it of the park, as well as soap newcomer Reign Edwards, more was explained leaving more questions to Maya’s tormented past and quest to be her authentic self as a woman.

Today, during the CBS broadcast of B&B, Mosley took to Twitter to thank one of the greatest soap writers of our time, Patrick Mulcahey for writing the on point dialog on last week’s and today’s episode when she related:  “Many thanks to Patrick Mulcahey for the beautiful words in this & the last episode… & the late night phone calls. & wacky emails. &…And also to Mike Stitch, Ed Scott & all the amazing crew, directors & producers. #BoldandBeautiful #BandB28

TV Line also chatted with Mosley to get her thoughts on Maya’s past, where he actress admitted the transgender twist filled in a lot of gaps for her:  “This information about Maya really connects dots for me. The reasons that she has spontaneously let Caroline win in the past or decided so quickly to marry Carter and then decided so quickly to completely screw up that relationship, I think it all has to do with her fear that Rick is going to reject her when he finds out the truth. And her fear of having to disclose — because I don’t think that she’s ever been in a relationship like this… I think in all of her past relationships, people have known already. Or it was something that wasn’t gonna last. So she suddenly found herself in this relationship that could possibly last with a man with whom she’s been very honest. Other than this, Maya is honest to a fault. She’s just terrified, on some level.”

So, what did you think of the writing of the scenes today and last week between Maya and Nicole? What did you think of Karla Mosley and Reign Edwards performances? Are you intrigued to know more of Maya’s back-story and how it will impact her future with Rick (Jacob Young)? Comment below!

Very moving episode. It gave me a reason to like watching a character who had previously become more and more distasteful due to her incredibly obnoxious behavior, feeding into Rick’s insecurities.

I couldn’t agree with you more.
I had a real dislike for Maya’s character, almost to the point of not wanting to watch any of here scenes with Rick. Yesterday’s episode was very touching Karla did a great job and actually had me feeling sorry for her. How do you think Rick will react?

Rick has been so OOC lately I couldn’t predict anything at this point. What’s your guess?

When B&B first revealed that Maya was transgender, I was sure it would be a farce. Then both the writing and Karla’s acting took it to a level that gave it substance. It also revealed a lot of perspective from someone who is transgender. Karla’s facial expressions, body language and skilled delivery provide a performance worth watching.

The dialogue written by Patrick, from Monday’s episode between the actresses who play Maya and Nicole was brilliant! their acting shine , I was near tears watching their heartbreaking scenes ,as Maya try to explain what life was like for her being trapped in the wrong body. Karla Mosley, better win a Emmy for this new development in her character because in this episode alone, she played Maya with so many emotions, but also with a quiet dignity and strength. I know there will be more meaty scenes to come, especially with Rick and I have no doubt Karla and the writers will brihertheir A game.

Rick will pop his cork! He will go back to caroline

I am a huge supporter of opening people’s minds through strong’ thought-provoking storylines.” But sorry, folks, B&B jumped the shark on this one. Are we, longtime fans, supposed to forget the circumstances when Maya came to tte show? She was just out of prison and learned her daughter had been killed in a car accident!! How would that make sense with this ridiculous new storyline? And why not use an actual transgender actor for this storyline? It is a great idea, badly executed. Shamefully missed opportunity.

Perhaps it’s his daughter when he was still Myron (mother unknown). I’m sure they will explain this. A lot of back-story is yet to be told.

I don’t watch B&B, but my neighbor down the street does. She told me about this big transgender reveal on B&B. My neighbor was NOT happy about it! She said the show had “gone crazy” . (Her words, not mine.). It remains to be seen whether or not she will continue to watch the show. One thing is for sure, my neighbor is not a happy B&B fan right now!

Me Too

Loving this already!

I thought it was well acted and well written. I am interested to know more about Maya’s backstory, such as her daughter.

Meanwhile, Katie is questioning if Rick wants to have kids with Maya. LOL

Can’t wait for Rick to find out. I don’t know that he will be down with it.

As an openly gay man myself, I am finding that the dialogue on this particular storyline has been top notch and on point. I am so impressed with B&B right now with their writing and the phenomenal acting that Karla Mosley (Maya) and Reign Edwards (Nicole) are doing with this storyline. If B&B really keeps up the good work with this storyline, I can see them winning their 4th Outstanding Drama Series in the show’s history in 2016. Karla will definitely be up for Lead Actress next year at the rate that she’s going with this story.

Mulcahey is one of the all-time great writers in daytime drama. He understands what soap operas are really all about and what makes them inspire such a devoted following.

The transgender community is extremely sensitive. Carmen Carrera went nuts when she decided that RuPaul using the term “she-mail” was offensive and sued. This could get interesting if “Bold and the Beautiful” makes one small move.

The transgender ladies will be all over CBS!

I think the writing in these scenes was amazing, some of the best writing on B&B in a very long time. It goes to show how much the show can shine when the focus is taken off love triangles and other madness revolving around Hope and Brooke. Karla Mosley was outstanding in these scenes, which could easily win her an Emmy next year, and Reign Edwards is also doing very well. For a soap newcomer who’s been given such heavy material so soon since she joined the cast, she is doing a great job.

As an openly gay man myself

standing ovation… B&B

tons of applause

Jacob Young… no holds barred : will take hold of this … and I foresee a rough tumultuous humane flight….

hitting his stride with every emotion… from a to z with and without Maya

I’m speechless

Way too many holes in this storyline. So where does all of this fall in with Maya’s righteous indignation to everyone about how she always has Rick’s back and has never lied to him, this seems like a pretty big one to me.

And what about her “always have been upfront with who I am and what I want”? Really?

She has to tell the truth to Rick & everyone or she’s not true to herself

I just watched Monday & today’s episodes I thought they were well done and he explained her back story the issues that were discussed all week. If the transgender community get’s offended over this then they are just looking for something to complain about. And this is coming from a viewer who most of the time is not real thrilled with Brad Bell. As for everyone who is saying Rick would have to know please remember this is a soap opera if we can watch plastic surgery to come back as a different person or a mask etc then you can deal with this. Actually for me this is a refreshing tale coming from having to endure four years of the Hope show and twenty eight of the Brooke show. Now Brad it is time to stick with the story don’t panic and wrap it up in a month. Karla Mosley is a find do not lose her!

If she was a women trapped in a men’s body, would their not be scaring from surgery? Maya & Rick have made love many places, not in the dark. And the child, the only thing that kept her alive while she was in prison? Was she the father? I have more questions than answers. Anyone else?

Lots of questions. Maya is playing an amazing role. I afmired the writers.the directors. Wonderful story. Sure many of the older folks no disrespect. Even some of the younger generation would be having second thoughts about the Transgender part. As each day goes by we would learn more and more yo better understand the Transgender story of Maya.
she wont be so pure now. I can hear Caroline saying that. There will B lots f hate towards Maya thats for sure.

Loved Patrick Mulcahey’s work when he worked on Guiding Light years ago. He adored Nancy Curlee, and we all miss her writing everyday!

I have to admit the acting was pretty good and solid. It explains her character much better.

I love B&B and have from a child lol. I think it’s a great story line but if your like me watching the show when mosley character (maya) 1st appeared she did time in jail & her daughter died, but now she was born a man. So was her whole back ground a lie? Because she had pictures. Was the pictures of her little girl was really her sister when she was little? I would love to see how it all comes together though.

Maya told her sister the story on her baby.. It was her boyfriends baby and she became her legal guardian so they already tied it all together. .

You Writers are unrealistic, you just could not let a Black Beautiful Woman, be with a rich White Man!!! You have lost quite a few fans here in Galveston,County, Texas….AMEN

SORRY CAROLYN BUT, NO ONE CARES WHAT COLOR SHE IS, NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THAT ONLY YOU, I WOULD NOT CARE IF SHE WAS GREEN!!!!!! I STILL CAN’T STAND HER OR HER STORY LINE AND ESP. HER ACTING. JUST POSTING MY OPINION THANK YOU.

You know Laura, there is ALWAYS 1 or more person that JUST HAS to make a race comment, and I am so tired of that happening!

Sorry but I’m not into gays or transfer. I just wanted B&B soap back. Can’t help but feel with their protests & parades &always in the news. That it’s being shoved down our throats. Who cares what gender you prefer I for one do not CARE. Keep out of the soaps, is nothing private or sacred anymore?? Further mote I can’t stand this actress!!! Sorry but after 20 yrs It’s time to stop my dvr recordings of B&B.

I Feel the same way, enough is enough its dragging for too long, put an end to this story line

Yes ..I am sooo desperate to know ..What the outcome of Maya and Rick’s gonna be ..!! Pleasz keep me posted ..B&B…!!! CAN’T WAIT …!!!

very dissapointed in the show to write this about Myra,i always looked as the show as being wrote with good morals, not no more !

Waiting for Jacob Young as Rick to just “blow it up”. I predict that after the truth about Maya comes out Rick will become a new jack J.R. Ewing. If you think he’s off the hook now just wait!!

Even though it’s a lie and Rick always has to have honesty or else, just because everybody thinks Rick will dump her, the writers will twist it around Rick will still love Maya. Just for the fact to show us all that it doesn’t bother everybody to love a transgender, but what really will make me mad is Rick dumping Caroline because she “WAS A LIAR” and not honest with him, and he stays with Maya even though she wasn’t honest with him, I will be so stinking mad. If Maya is so proud of who she is, why has she been keeping it hidden all these years? Another thing, since it made Carter mad, they will HAVE to show that not everybody feels the same way.

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)

Maura West and Kelly Sullivan

It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.

The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.

Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST

Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”

Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE

Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”

Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

KELLY SULLIVAN PARTING THOUGHTS AS SHE LEFT GENERAL HOSPITAL

Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”

You can catch the full conversation with Kelly where she talks about her time on General Hospital, The Young and the Restless where she played Sage Warner and now The Bold and the Beautiful below.

Steve Burton Reportedly Signs Three-Year Contract with ‘General Hospital’

Published

Steve Burton

The question of will Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stay awhile at General Hospital after his recent extended hiatus from the show earlier this year, has reportedly been answered.

TMZ via court documents obtained in Burton’s ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Sheree Gustin, shared that Steve actually inked a new three year deal with the ABC soap opera back in June.

That is significant because it was June when Burton returned back to work as Jason. In addition, the court filing confirmed that Burton had already moved back to California from Tennessee.

STEVE’S HIATUS AND HIS RETURN TO PORT CHARLES

GH fans will recall, it was back in February of 2026, that Burton announced via his Instagram that he was stepping away from his role of Jason Morgan for short break and pointed to wanting to spend quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton with whom he tied the knot back on May 17, 2025.

Steve expressed at that time, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.” It was back on March 25 that viewers saw Jason carted away by the WSB after taking the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) who shot then WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Burton returned to work on June 1, and due to General Hospital taping roughly six weeks ahead of air, made his on-screen comeback on the July 13 episode.

GOING FOR GOLD AT THE UPCOMING DAYTIME EMMYS

Then, Steve and his enduring fans got an extra special treat on the same day, when it was revealed on Extra that he was nominated for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.

Steve previously won in the Supporting Actor category for his work as General Hospital’s Jason in 1998 and as The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy in 2018.

Now with Jason and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship seemingly hitting the skids, plus Jason’s commitment to staying out of mob life to focus on being present for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), what does the future hold for the fan favorite character? Stay tuned.

So, happy to hear that Steve Burton signed a new three year deal with General Hospital? Knowing that, what storyline would you like to see Jason get involved and with who? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section.
