THIS WEEK ON Y&R: Expect The Unexpected!

Courtesy/CBS

The Young and the Restless under new head writer and executive producer Chuck Pratt Jr. has got some twisty tales going on in Genoa City.  Austin’s (Matthew Atkinson) murder is casting light on a whole back- story about a documentary no one knew was being filmed with shocking suspects of who done the deed!

Meanwhile, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Kelly’s (Cady McClain) rivalry continues to heat up and in this new promo, we see Kelly stabbing Phyllis in the gut with a knife, is it just a nightmare or fantasy?

It also looks like Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Gabriel AKA Adam (Justin Hartley) are growing closer. Will Adam reveal he is her hubby back-from-the-dead?  Once again Sharon (Sharon Case) is in for a shock when she walks in on all-time love Nick (Joshua Morrow) having sex with Sage (Kelly Sullivan)! Will it send this woman over the edge even further than she has been before?

Watch this week’s promo from Y&R after the jump and then let us know … are you into the stories being presented by Chuck Pratt Jr.? Who do you think killed Austin?  Do you like the Kelly and Phyllis feud?  What do you think is happening to Sharon? Share your thoughts below!

Don’t like Pratt creating this back story. The ‘kids’ are on too much rehashing the same old, same old. BORING!

Who killed Austin let’s get it over with you are dragging it for too long.

This who killed Austin murder mystery and his documentary on the Genoa City 1% is such BS and so not Y&R. I understand it’s a story for the younger cast members but it’s taking over the show and involving more and more of the older players. I am not liking it whatsoever. Don’t any of these kids have jobs or responsibilities? I actually liked watching Dylan, Avery, and Joe on Friday because at least they haven’t been pulled into that dumb story, yet. This is starting to remind me of the horrible LML years. Y&R’s ratings peaked at Pratt’s disaster week and have been on a steady decline ever since. I’m one who hopes they continue sliding so Pratt and JFP are shown the door and this soap can bring in people who know how to write and produce the Y&R that us long time fans remember and has kept them at the top of the daytime ratings all these years.

You are so right in all you say.

Wow, things are moving in Genoa City, no? Of course, I will wait to see what happens but this seems better than the MAB era. I do not want to see Y&R get zany or crazy. Please though, I am tired of Sharon being the punching bag. Give her redemption and let her show she is strong and capable. I would love to see that. A character who is strong and upbeat and one to root for.

I agree. I love Sharon and I’m sick of her always playing the punching bag. I’m sick of Nick too with his over active hormone problems. He meets a new girl bam! in bed he goes.NICK!!! Try to keep it in check.

Yeah, Nikki….Nick’s raging-hormone-behavior reminds me of all the boys in my eighth-grade class.

Hi Cee Cee Your so right but if my memory serves me correctly was Victor not like this? One girl after another (Julia, Nikki, Ashley, Diane etc.)? I will never understand that one. it must have been the money & power because it sure could not be good looks! Nick seems to have no control but I have to say the way Sharon treated him yesterday I was jumping up & down with glee. Now if only that dumb as a dork Summer would realize that she’s alive today because (Sharon who she hates) got her to a hospital in time after she took pills. I would love to see the reaction on her fat face if Sharon threw that up to her.

Exactly, Nikki. I don’t think I remember Julia? I have only been watching for the last 15 years…..but, I do remember Victor’s ‘joy-rides’…LOL.
Nick, as all the Newmans (not Noah) is a spoiled brat. And, what is it with Summer? She is so out of her element….it’s everyone else’s fault. Oh, yeah…Sharon must have killed Austin. Well, if she did, it was probably in self defense.
This guy kidnapped Avery, shot and almost killed the chief of police, and yet walked the streets?
Yes!!! I loved the Sharon and Nick face-off. Good for Sharon. She’s coming back…full force.
And, Nick looks like he’s in need of a shower…why does he look so scruffy?

You wasn’t that months ago couldn’t stand her you and a whole lot of your poster Sharon has that double life she’s been living.so get over it she’s bad news even if she didn’t kill anyone.

Sharon and nick should have been off the show along time ago only because thier love life as been so messy she don’t care who she loves and nick dont care what he loves to much of thats going around. Why did theychange Kyle from twenty college man to a fifteen year old highschooller.l didn’t like the first kyle heck l didnt like jack every since started blaming people cquse he messed up his father’s company .he blame all his siblings at one time he took it out on everyone he could.

I think Kyle exists only because writers back in the day never gave Jack a family. Family means the world to Jack and it is dramatically ironic he has never been able to keep one of his own. Seems no one knew what to do with Kyle once various post-Bill Bell writers began to mess with children’s ages.

Nick and Sharon are the next Victor and Nikki. On again, off again. I would like to see them find their way together and stay for a good long time. But if I was Sharon, I’d have left Genoa City with what dignity I had left and not look back! LOL But then I would miss Sharon Case who I enjoy watching. Shame her character has been treated so poorly and oddly in the last decade. Why don’t writers see the potential in a solid redemption and renewal story line for her? So she can say I am strong and I do not need you unless I choose to need you. Have her discover something and find her own riches and power. I think only then could Nick see the girl he fell in love with long before. And Mariah will discover the gift she received in finding her birth mother.

She DOESN’T care and Nick DOESN’T care either, Eileen.
They just don’t care.

For pete sake go back to school and learn how to write. I can’t understand a thing you wrote.

I have mixed opinions on Y&R right now. I like the faster pacing, but not too thrilled of The Summer, and Abby show. Y&R needs to give everyone equal airtime. They better not ruin Sharon with anymore secrets. I will be disgusted if they throw Sharon under the bus to prop the pets. They need to give Sharon some happiness, and not write her weak.

I think it’s pretty safe to say it looks like the writers/producers like Summer. It’s very unusual for her not to be on.

I agree and honestly, the girl has a long way to go as far as her acting skills go.

Hi Helen I couldn’t agree more. She pouts & whine’s and they call it acting.I watched her, Abby, Mariah &( I can’t remember who else) what I do remember was her fiddling with her top under her arm the whole time. I found myself talking to the T.V. saying if it doesn’t fit buy something that does.

I agree. I want Sharon to be a capable strong woman. She needs a good storyline showing her capabilities, and not using her illness as a crutch. Please writers, fix Sharon’s character.

We all seem to be on the same page as far as Sharon is concerned.
I just want her to win once in awhile.

I’m really getting the impression that YR doesn’t want Nick and Sharon together, they are doing a huge disservice to their longtime fans….Sharon Case has shined in the very bad material she’s been given through numerous headwriting changes over her 20yrs on the show and they still paint her as crazy and refuse to reunite her with Nick. absolutely deplorable.

I would rather have her with Dylan than Nick right now.Nick is a sex craved junkie and I’m surprised he doesn’t have aids or some other disease. I think Sharon is too good for him and it’s time for her to speak out and tell him it’s really over. I’m also sick of her having to tell him how sorry she is over & over again. For G sake she rescued his spoiled whinny daughter Summer & got her into a hospital after the brat took those pills. The whiner would not be alive today if it wasn’t for Sharon.

Really is and always will be abasket case.her true colors are showing now.lm not taking up for nick either.they got married to fast she married all the men in the family you would think she no how to say no .and now you think she should be with dalyn.talking about sharon the begining of my post didn’t show up .l don’t no if sharon killed Austin but she was there.and by the way victor paid the family off because it was at his ranch the girl like nick sharon new it she ask the if she so why don’t she take the jump not nick he was druck it was her fought she jump over jealousy

I got a feeling that the killer will turn out to be someone that no one think about.

Some think Pratt’s the killer, so ill say him too…lol

Iam calling it…..3/23….murderer is “police woman”!

You know, it seems like Y&R has improved so far under Pratt. I know he did a hack job on AMC and after JFP reign on GH it seemed like the nails were being hammered into Y&R’s casket, so a Pratt/Phelps tag team regime isn’t what anyone wanted. Y&R is in far from perfect shape, but I think it’s gotten better over the past month. Stories unfold at a much quicker pace, and even though they’ve completely rewritten the character of Austin, I find him WAY more interesting now, so I think this is the path the previous writers should have gone down in the first place.

As for Phyllis and Kelly, I like the feud they have going, but what I don’t like is that Victor has his hand in yet ANOTHER scheme. I know that the Victor/Jake rivalry is a staple on Y&R and it will never end (until Victor finally kicks the bucket once and for all) but it seems like they’re painting Kelly into a corner which means Cady McClain will eventually be written out, which I don’t like. I think she’s a great actress, and while the character was poorly conceived, they could have made her into much more than a love sick loony toon. As a side note, I think she and Gina T are rocking their scenes, and Gina is doing great as Phyllis.

I’m with you,Jimmy. I am willing to give Mr. Pratt the benefit of the doubt. I think during the All My Children era he was hired to do a particular job by one certain power. I’d like to believe that era is gone and daytime drama is reigning again. The character of Adam seems to have returned to that vulnerability he had when the character was first introduced and Justin’s portrayal has me routing for him.

I agree with Jimmy and SiteAdvocate.
I watched today and it was very interesting. And not only that the stories were character driven. Michael discussing his cancer with Cane, Jack discussing his guilty conscience with the externalization of his guilt, his father, and finally, Neil trying to face the consequences of his actions all rise up to produce some riveting story telling.
And Victor seems to be engaged in some really dark activity. I love that this man doesn’t change. Who besides me thinks that Kelly is not really dead and that picture of her in the morgue is a fake?

2014 sucked so yes, Give Charles a chance.

Harry, I strongly believe Kelly is still alive. Victor is orchestrating this for sure! I have no doubt.

The promo should proclaim “Same Stuff, Different Day.”

Kelly stabs Phyllis in a dream sequence. Wow — super original. We already saw this a few months back when Victor stabbed Phyllis with a needle in a dream sequence.

Nu-Adam flirts with telling Chelsea who he really is. Um, we get this at least once a week and it always plays the same: Nu-Adam starts to spill the beans, then says something about how love never dies or her husband knows how much she loved him. I might be more interested if Chelsea noticed that Gabriel’s handwriting looks just like Adam’s and set up a con to trick him into exposing his true identity. You know, ’cause she used to be a con artist and should have a better eye for people running a scam.

Nick sleeps with Sage and Sharon flips out. So unexpected (not). The character has a laundry list of crimes (all of which were excused since she’s got the bi-polars “get-out-jail-free” card) and was nearly an episode of Maury when she was pregnant with Faith and had 3 potential baby daddies so she might want to drop the judgy act and set her sights on a new man (who’s not a Newman) to obsess over. Sharon Case deserves better material than this (and no, I don’t count her inclusion in that awful “I Know What You Pretty Little Liars Did Last Valentine’s Day” mess of a storyline as “better”).

I would watch this show again if Alan was the head writer!

I don’t like what they did to Austin–killing him and also making him out to be someone totally different from what we saw on-screen. If we don’t see it, we don’t have as much interest in it. Story off-screen is not interesting.

Maybe Austin has a twin, lol. Soaps do it all the time.

Hack-man Pratt….there he goes writing UNWATCHABLE storylines….can WE SAY ALL MY CHILDREN!

easy on kelly and phllyis fighting over jack and as much as i was originally enjoying the teen murder mystery its a lil overkill with the suspects such as sharon, just as sharon was becoming normal again.
more of hevon, neil and nikki and christines miscarriage and more of jabot vs newman and the fragarences. i fear ashley will be wasted again. eileen deserves a front and centre story!!! of course i predicted michaels story would also b dropped

Poor Sharon. As she was spying on Scooby and the gang at the coffee house she had an expression which seemed to say,’ Here I am acting nuts again.’
And I really do not want to see or hear that intolerable, petulant, shrieking brat Summer shriek at her anymore.
Summer, like Victoria and Paul, has lost her voice due to the constant histrionics. Give his girl a day, a week, a month, hey even a year, off!

You echo my thoughts, Harry.

lol
No matter how bad Y&R gets people will continue watch, they always do lol ..

Kelly and Phyllis are all noise..
There is no drama just Phyllis and her bitching/noise..
No one gets stabbed, it is just a dream/whatever..

The
cabin story is a Laurel and Hardy mystery..
The is no real drama, no suspense, no thrills, no WOW or Whoa moments..
Summer has not stopped her whining.. she whines and loudly moans but never tears..
Has not people noticed she never has tears..
She should have a mountain of Kleenex by now..
We counted her tear times, twice, 2 times she little tears LOL
Summer is so far over the top of hysterical whining that she has passed Mars
(someone shut her up!!!!

Adam’s story is a snoz..
he doesn’t do anything but chase Chelsa like a wounded puppy..
Adam is boring
(ohh lord I miss Michael M !!!!

I hope Y&R gets better.. I’m nodding-out watching and that is a truthful fact..

I continue to watch and always will be one of Y&R’s ratings number even though I FF much of it it is still considered watching LOL 🙂

long live the Young and the Restless !!

Y&R has a lot going on, no doubt of that but it has no actual gripping drama..

Okay, Suoo–let’s say it’s opposite day. Y&R is not boring. IT was very dull a few months ago but I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s dull right now.
I do agree with you about Summer.
Summer’s Lease, as Shakespeare asserts, does NOT have too short a date.

I love Y&R , Su. Good or bad…I will always watch because I love soaps.
I really do not understand why you watch, though, su.
It’s one think to discuss plot lines, characters etc., but another to throw it completely under the bus.
What you say could be also said about GH. I have said this to you so many times…I admire your loyalty to GH, but don’t pick on Y&R.
Y&R has gotten so much better these past few months. I complain about this character and that, but, I do have my favorites. If everything was la-di-da, then , what would we talk about? Victor’s mustache? Later, Su…just say something nice, once in a while, ok…lol…friends?

Hi, CeeCee!!!!! Girlfriend…a few things here…

1. Out of all of Victor’s ex-wives, Julia will A-L-W-A-Y-S be my ALL-TIME FAVORITE!!!!! CeeCee…Julia was (among other things) beautiful (both on the inside and on the outside), compassionate, graceful, V-E-R-Y highly intelligent and (MOST OF ALL!!!!!) M-A-T-U-R-E!!!!! Y-e-s…Julia was V-E-R-Y M-A-T-U-R-E…unlike that dysfunctional, alcoholic D-R-I-P Nikki Newman…O-K-A-Y!!!!!
2. As for that self-righteous drooling idiot Nick, I-I-I have a W-A-Y BETTER IDEA: I think that it would be better (and easier) to drop Nick’s stupid and arrogant ass off at a local car-wash, run him T-H-R-O-U-G-H the car-wash area and (most of all) L-E-A-V-E HIM THERE!!!!! Hey…just an idea…….
3. As for that WAH WAH WAH Summer, can you I-M-A-G-I-N-E that poor girl (in the future sense and all) as a M-O-T-H-E-R?!?!? O-h, L-o-r-d-y…that poor baby’s non-stop crying and all would R-E-A-L-L-Y stress Summer out to no end…Y-I-K-E-S!!!!!

Have a good one, CeeCee. Later.

its so sad to see this once stellar program sink down to the lows of today,,,
the only thing half decent with this show is the re casting of adam..but the slow pace of ths storyline is killing the actor playing it out,,,move it along…
more jack an victor really…i mean really…know i mean REALLY…mariah and kevin is a storyline to invest in they actors chemistry together is smoking,,,but how long can this storyline hold peoples interest with a smile from kevin and mariah blushing once a week for 5 seconds,,,i ff the entire teen crap murder mystery ,,i didnt care enough about auston to really give to sh,,,, who murdered him,,,id like to murder the murderer for this murder has given way to much airtime to summer,,,,ill never be able to say i like hayly king,,,,,snore snore snore,,,i tuned in this year after a year without the muhney,, now i can tune out for another year…see yah in 2016,,,

My issue is Victor who is such a villain and always taking over something that belongs to someone else. Victor has had people locked up on islands and years ago when Paul worked for him he even had a wife or somebody held captive in a secret room in his house yet he always wins. Now he bugs Ashley lab, steals and plotting another take over to ruin Jack. Tired of the battle, Victor and Jack needs to move on or work the company fairly with for sake of the kids . At best Victor needs to get caught in his own trap I love to see a smart outsider maybe the son or daughter of the mob get revenge by taking the company from Victor..

Firstly, I have grown tired of the silliness between Kelly and Phyllis. This is not the strong-minded Phyllis I know. Stupid, stupid, stupid….so out of sync for me.
Secondly, if Gabe discloses his identity to Chelsea, she will not give him away….as, I’m sure neither would Sharon. I hope that somehow, sometime soon, Gabe/Adam and Sharon come together again. She is one of the most interesting characters on Y&R right now. …can’t stand Nick’s holier-than-thou and devil-may-care attitude…what is this? A middle-age crisis? I hope he catches an STD.
Thirdly, I think Sharon will keep it together. She must, in order to continue on the show. But, if she’s out, then, in all probability she’ll have another serious mental breakdown and will end up in an asylum. But, I doubt it. I am starting to like Sharon all over again…time to redeem her.
Fourthly, and I repeat, no one cares who killed Austin. The easiest culprit is Victor. He is the cause of everything baaaad happening in GC. I hope it was Cricket….let’s just get her out of her misery and shut her mouth forever.

Shadam rules! The time they spent together in New Orleans was the best!

It really was, Timmm. I remember being so moved by the emotional connection between them.

Y&R has turned into some other soap I’m not familiar with. Kids front and center in storylines is something soaps used to save for the summer. People we don’t care about being front and center is something people turn off. The whole made up Austin murder is one pretty stupid storyline. It’s so bad somedays, I turn over to Days of Our Lives, and forget to turn back to Y&R.

Since when was Adam Newman a love sick school boy?????? The old Adam would have already taken charge of the situation I mean really Chelsea hooking up with Billy!

Here’s hoping the “Austin (who cares?) Murder Mystery” will end our misery soon. Everyone involved in a human being’s murder and everyone plays cover-up? Does not say much for Midwesterners. My hunch: Joe is (or ought to be behind it) because of that one little Austin/Joe spat about videotaping and payment. Seems like Joe would have it out for the Newmans since Victor “no longer needed his services.” Then again, why am I writing about this? I dislike the storyline and have from Valentine’s Day.

I still cannot believe Victor conducts dirty business inside a church. Aren’t empty churches usually locked at night so no one vandalizes them?

Is there any interesting story anywhere on the show?

Not only is what Victor doing in a CATHOLIC church sacrilegious, Ron, but also , too many liberties are perpetually taken with this religion. Anyone who is Catholic knows this. Victor’s actions are so despicable….to use a confessional like this is tantamount to selling his soul to the devil. Then again, he has no soul to lose.
I wish TPTB on all soaps would do some research on Roman Catholicism before any sacrament in the Church takes place….such as divorcees getting married over and over in the R. C. Church. It simply isn’t done. Period. I find it quite offensive.

Expect the unexpected isn’t that tag line for Big Brother, another CBS show–? What they can’t even find an original ad slogan to promote the show??

Okay— I don’t like the who killed Austin mystery– telling a story through flashbacks might work for prime time shows like Lost or Once Upon a Time, but on a soap, not so much. I understand them wanting to approach the typical murder mystery from a different perspective, so the flashbacks might have worked if the person who was murdered was a major character, someone I would want to find out what happened to them. But Austin?—, a newbie I wasn’t invested in and less so now finding out what a jerk he was. So who cares who did it? Unless this turns into a serial killer story, and some major players start dying, I’m not paying attention to it. The only bright spot right now in this story is I don’t have to watch the inept GH police try to solve the case– this time I get watch the Hardy Boys- Nancy Drews wanna be’s try to do it — oh joy.

As for Sharon she was finally coming out the dark hole they dug her in and now with this latest stunt that she might have been involved in this whole Austin mess made my heart sink. Let’s hope that was just a red herring. My hope is Sharon will see Nick having sex with Sage, realize this guy was never worth all the pining she been doing for him, and she finally moves on from him and get a new love. Dylan perhaps.

As for Victor going after Jack again— come on– really??? Wait don’t tell me– Patty is the person in the confessional plotting with him– LOL

Oh my gosh yes yes yes my thoughts exactly. I want Sharon so disgusted with that perv. Nick that she finally realizes he’s like his father and not worth the problems but I want to see her with Dylan and telling Nick it is finally over for good. Lets see him chase her for a few years and her push him away.

Maybe then Julie Chenn killed Austin???

I can’t help but think it’s AMC’s Dr David Wayward, er, I mean, Hayward, in that confessional both talking to Victor. That would explain why everyone has suddenly become bat chit crazy.
If you watched AMC, you will remember when David spiked the punch on the drunken party boat making everyone extremely randy (horny) and act crazier than normal. How else to explain the odd, promiscuous, and insane behavior of the citizens of Genoa City. And everyone is always shrieking which has led to a collective case of laryngitis with such characters as Summer, Victoria and Paul.

I’m enjoying the show. I think Austin’s killer is Fen. He’s the one who spiked the punch. But, he’s at college in Arizona–or is he? Kelly & Phyllis–a great feud!!!
Sharon is one of my favorites. I hope they give Sharon some happiness. She needs more strength and confidence. She also needs to kick some asses occasionally.

Thats my guess, as well, Fen. I thought he grew up and could be there for Michael but it seems like he is still a little punk obsessed with Summer.

As a fairly new viewer of Y&R since OLTL and AMC were so unceremoniously dumped by ABC, I don’t know all the baggage that comes with the characters. But so far I don’t like how Sharon can never win and she seems to be the town pariah, even during her best efforts. The writers have destroyed Kelly…she seemed to have a promising start and they’ve turned her/Cady into some whimpering, victimized woman…waste of a good actress. Yet Phyllis always seems to land on her feet and she’s the most obnoxious of almost everybody.
Don’t mind the mystery of Austin. It might be a little convoluted, but it reminds me of any good mystery where you think you know whose done it, but ends up being an unexpected person instead.
And the Neil, Hilary, Devon triangle has gotten more interesting after the interminable affair was exposed. Hope the keep the story moving a lot faster than the weeks of cheating.
A note of caution if you are pregnant…never step into the street where cars are moving (the “accident”also just happened on Revenge), or drive in a car on a dark road, especially during bad weather.

Rose, Cricket has a bad habit of leaping in front of cars.
First Phyllis hits her and now Nikki with Neil lunging for the steering wheel.

Do you suppose all her anger towards Nikki (at least this time) and Neil may deep down anger at herself for not being more careful?

Well, Rose, you are lucky you are a new viewer of Y&R. Thus, you cannot know how devastating it is for those of us who are long-time viewers (since I was 14) to see this spectacular show reduced to solving a stupid, uninteresting murder about a likewise lackluster, new character such as Austin.
The soap is swarming with idiotic kids and not so young (Kevin, Abby etc) characters running amok.
They should all be locked up for obstruction of justice. And, I am just glad Austin is off stage. What was the point of this character, anyway?
If I hear another remark by one of the characters referring to lanky, awkward, stick-body, hanging-bottom-lip Abby as beautiful, I will tear my hair out…LOL.

@Cee the gal that plays Abby should stick to pointing to prizes on The Price Is Right she is so bad!

ONE of the problems with the Austin murder is none of the viewers knew or cared about him. He was a psycho punk who acted out on Avery and Paul. As far as Abby, you leave my Abs alone! She is beau…..!

Wow! A lot of commentary from the gentlemen above. I wholeheartedly agree!

I HATE the cheap and lazy storytelling of things that supposedly happen OFF CAMERA. This is not a cable show and you cannot compete with that kind of show so stop trying to. Sony made DAMAGES which was very critically acclaimed and amazing storytelling that went forward and back, but Y&R is not DAMAGES. Just give us our soaps minus all this hocus pocus! Please stop ruining our characters.

Nick sleeping with Sage after that stupid standalone episode about all his troubles with women?! Gimme a break! When are they ever going to let Sharon steady herself? Not today. She admits she did another terrible thing. The woman is 40-something. Enough already.

a part of me thinks they are deliberately mind numbing the audience, with regard to Sharon Case… what do they have against her… she’s one of the very few on the canvas that hasn’t lost an audience

tell me one character… who has a debilitating illness… that isn’t constantly brought up… when is Sharon going to grow and not be saddled with : “did you take your medication, today”

LOL

no disrespect

Sharon Case as Sharon is beloved

I’d be at my wits ends… to be saddled with Nick. Nick and Victor are DULL, include Nikki in on this… unless she’s partying… this is tour de force to the actress, Melody Thomas Scott… what’s sad and tragic for the audience … is that she drinks alone… and hides… therefore…. I don’t need Victor and HIS son, Nick.

I don’t know if after the Valentines day extavaganza… if Sharon and Dylan went any where…

the audience is rooting for Shadam… and they must know this

hello production… the value of Gabriel/Chelsea has waned… dire

Sage, I hope is not wasted with Nick… she would have been better with Joe

Yeah, Patrick. Instead of Nick asking Sharon if she took her meds; he should be asking his mother, ” did you guzzle down a bottle of vodka, today, Mom?”
Sage is a shameless hussy…same as Kelly.

I love Gina Tagnoni as Phyllis, she is a wonderful actress and I am enjoying watching Gina as Phyllis. Please hire Erika Slezak as Phyllis mother. 1997 Abby Dalton played Phyllis mom, recast her with Erika Slezak that would work foresure. I miss Erika Slezak so much.

I agree about Erika, Peter. I miss her too…all the cast of OLTL…..sigh!

I’d cast Kathleen Noone as Phyllis’ mom.

Pratt’s style maybe appealing to some but for me it’s annoying. I couldn’t care less who killed Texas, I mean Austin. I have to admit I fast forwarded thru this guy and his wife’s scenes because they are boring to watch. So whatever or whomever killed this kid, I hope it’s over soon. The Adam storyline is boring as well, the actors are okay but I’m just not into the characters. As for Kelly, Phyllis, Victor and Jack’s storyline, ridiculous!

Does anyone believe Kelly is dead? No way!!!! Obviously, I see Victor’s dirty hand arranging this. He most likely paid someone to take the picture making her look “dead” and/or bribed someone in the county sheriff’s office. Another ridiculous put-on. I am so tired of being treated as an imbecile. Duh?

Another thing…Paul and Cricket should think of grandchildren (he’s older than my Dad), not starting a family.
Complications? Cricket’s eggs are not as viable…there aren’t that many to be had in the first place. Give it a rest, writers.

Christine was never going to have this baby. It absolutely makes me sick inside what they have done to this show like I said I have not watched a complete episode in three weeks I did catch Abby and Sharon wearing cheerleading outfits. I got an e-mail the other day from an actress that JFP fired a long time ago and she said well did you finally give up and I said yes the woman finally beat me down. 🙁

I will be surprised if Christine will not exit the canvas soon personally I do not know why she was brought back. For me you have to have passion for your characters and I have none just complete disgust. Michael’s cancer storyline is one of the reasons I said enough to think that a spouse’s only concern for someone is whether or not he is going to be able to have sex with you or not is awful it makes Lauren look shallow however she always has been. To watch Nikki and Victor on screen is cringe worthy!!

k/kay…I think that the first sentence in your post speaks VOLUMES!!!!! I mean…not only was Christine N-O-T gonna have that kid…to me, Christine’s so-called pregnancy was BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!!!! Truly lame.

Christine was thin as a rail and if she was ever pregnant, she was maybe about 2 days along.
She must have the gestation cycle of a gnat which is why they call her cricket.
I was never a fan of Cricket’s, however, they have turned her into a long faced, unbearable, shrieking shrew and Paul is her effeminate, hen pecked, long suffering husband.

Oh dear, Something just occurred to me. Cricket has turned into Paul’s mother, bible thumping Mary Williams!
Of course, Mary Williams was a great character and compared to Cricket, she was a barrel of laughs.

@Timmm,
So, now it’s Abs, hey, Timmm.
Melissa is married to Justin Gaston, the original Ben (Days). What a hunk….so she’s got it made. She’s still not beautiful…LOL.

Can’t wait to see where this murder thing is going. However we will probably still be waiting next year at this time. Look how long it took to bring Adam back and no one except Jack (and Sage of course) knows its Adam. I think Chelsea should just fall in love with Gabriel and then in time she would just figure it out. All they changed was his face right? lol . Will they ever find a woman for Jack – thought he had one in Kelly – I never did like Phyllis (not the actresses- the character).

The reason it took forever to bring Adam back was because there was no Adam to be had. I am sure there was much discussion going on due to the incident of which MM was accused. TPTB needed that time to seek and find the right actor (Hartley) for the role.
But, you are right, lizzy. I have no interest in the Austin murder story. Nonetheless, I am sure that for those who are invested in the story, they will wait forever for this useless story to be solved.
If it was not Victor, then it will probably end up being one of the cast members whose exit is fast approaching…….again, as GH, I think the bosses come up with their “bright” ideas as they go along. They, themselves, do not know what turn/twist this story will take.
Then, there’s Kelly. She will disappear for a bit, then, resurface…..Mark my words…LOL.

I have thought a bit (don’t ask me why, though) on whodunit to Austin. Aside from the confrontation Austin had with Joe (that we audience members were privy to), another suspect could be the “contractor” who left messages for Nick to take care of his structural issues and since Austin didn’t send those messages to Nick, the contractor may be liable and thus have his vendetta. And today’s “message on Sharon’s mirror” confession from Kyle just cements how idiotic this whole thing is! Noah’s punch in the mouth wasn’t aimed low enough!

@Ron.
Yes, I follow your reasoning…completely makes sense to me.
Stitch is another possibility. But, I am so done, Ron….between GH’s Fluke, and now Austin….and everything else between…my brain is in a coma. I can’t stand Kyle either. He looks too much like Jack….LOL.

I am most certainly NOT a fan of Pratt and his shock-value, revisionist, plot-based storytelling … in fact I referenced it in a FB post that (with Michael’s kind indulgence) I recap for you here as food-for-thought on how soaps were (…and should still be) written:

22 YEARS AGO TODAY (06 MAR): the daytime community lost a legend in three-time Daytime Emmy-winning writer DOUGLAS MARLAND, who wrote for DOCTORS, GH, ATWT, GL, NEW DAY IN EDEN and LOVING. His inspired storytelling elevated a ho-hum afternoon drama into mainstream must-see TV, and his tenures on every serial he wrote elevated them into unforgettable viewing. In APR 1993, he crafted his “How Not To Wreck A Show” primer for those incompetents (…yes, that means YOU, Y&R’s Pratt!) who inherit a drama, then proceed to drive it into the ground!!

Take note:

* Watch the show.

* Learn the history of the show; you would be surprised at the ideas that you can get from the back story of your characters.

* Read the fan mail; the very characters that are not thrilling to you may be the audience’s favorites.

* Be objective: when I came in to ATWT (in 1979, then returned 1985-93), the first thing I said was, what is pleasing the audience? You have to put your own personal likes and dislikes aside and develop the characters that the audience wants to see.

* Talk to everyone; writers and actors especially. There may be something in a character’s history that will work beautifully for you, and who would know better than the actor who has been playing the role?

* Don’t change a core character. You can certainly give them edges they didn’t have before, or give them a logical reason to change their behavior. But when the audience says, “He would never do that,” then you have failed.

* Build new characters slowly. Everyone knows that it takes six months to a year for an audience to care about a new character. Tie them in to existing characters; don’t shove them down the viewers’ throats.

* If you feel staff changes are in order, look within the organization first. P&G [Procter & Gamble] does a lot of promoting from within. Almost all of our producers worked their way up from staff positions, and that means they know the show.

* Don’t fire anyone for six months; I feel very deeply that you should look at the show’s canvas before you do anything.

* Good soap opera is good storytelling … it’s very simple.

So many great ideas here! And I would love to see some older woman come in and take claim to the Chancellor estate– I miss seeing the home that’s been there since the first year of Y and R! Some long lost sister, played by Erika Slezak! She moves in and slow-but-sure becomes a new Katherine. The writers had a great chance to continue the storyline through Jill (the only original remaining character from 1973) and they threw it away.

I would like to see Sharon move on and become a better and stronger woman without Nick. Hopefully Pratt will let her move off the Newman’s ranch, get a good job, buy her own house and finally tells Nick ,”Frankly my dear, I don’t give a Damn ” and mean it. Stop making het beg and run after Nick like he is a grand prize to be won. Let him have Sage and the troubles that will soon follow and I hope Sharon will not be there for him to lend on or should I say, lick his wounds.

Love your post, J-see….and, oh, I agree.

I hope the writers can make Sharon stronger, & redeem her. She needs a good storyline. I’d like to see Nick find out about Sage & decide that Sharon is the only one he has ever loved. Wish the writers wouldn’t have him sleeping with every woman that comes along!

I said this before and I’ll say it again, Y&R is/was famous for writing summertime stories to attract the kids off on summer break. That worked in the 80’s and into the early nineties. Now, its a lost cause. Teenagers really dont watch soaps anymore ANYTIME of the year but especially in the summer. Why? Young kids know why. There are too many distractions/choices for them now. Soaps are not dead, thank God, BUT it really now more than ever is a niche/retro type of entertainment that the kids dont buy into. All the hand held devices have so much content available its tough to grab hold of the young viewers. Unless your mother or grandmother watched soaps, its really rare to have a teen sit and follow soaps in 2015.

Oh, I agree, Timmm. My siblings and I have been watching soaps ever since we could talk.
Now, we make sure that our children are always kept occupied with extra-curricular activities just to drag them away from the world of technology. My son got an iPad last year, on his 5th birthday….thanks to the grandparents. Lol. Only on weekends is he allowed to use it for a few hours.
It is no wonder the SOAP AGE is coming to an end. My heart bleeds….sigh!

Frankly I haven’t really been into the younger people thing. The actors are good, especially Mariah, Kevin, and Noah but Summer is a whiney girl and the Austin story line just interest me.

I’m with those who do not like the way the writers try to use Sharon as everyone’s scapegoat. She is an excellent actress and deserves scenarios other than psycho roles. The show already has Phyllis and Kelly. Sharon is a good mom and is Nick’s soul mate but Nick is acting like he isn’t thinking with his brain or listening to his heart. He has a good family and Sharon and he could be the next Victor and Nicki some day. Writers stop trying to paint Sharon into a corner. Give her a breather.

Nick!!! He’s always been as randy as his sinister father. It’s all about him, isn’t it, dawnhaze? The world revolves around the Newmans…self-centered, porcine excuse for what human beings are, or supposed to be.

Wow, Harry. So, that’s why they called her Cricket…I always wondered about that…LOL…so incredibly funny, you are!
Well, now. It seems that Paul and Cricket already knew the baby’s gender. The sex is normally determined at 4 1/2 to 5 months of gestation. So many different physical changes take place in a woman’s body, none of which Cricket displayed. When I was five months along, I had a VERY definite baby-bump.
So, you make a great point…look at Lisa LoCicero…now, that is what a real pregnancy looks like.

I am just gobsmacked and through the moon

a good majority of posts, = 2 things

Hunter King is thee snore of all snores… she has to go
the teen cabin story line… has spiraled… lacked from the start

has Jack given Kelly any respect since he tore off her wrapped dress and threw it back at ?

LOL

she was HOT

I hope she ends up preggers…. thank you Cady McClain… you hold your own… even with nuPhyllis… and tired Jack

Victors’ dead

I think the seed (no pun) was planted on Valentine’s Day when a Jack double had his way with Kelly, and that’s who Victor’s “confessing with” in the church. So, what’s Victor going to do? Abduct Jack and replace him with a new Jack?

Hmmm. I don’t know, Ron. Jack admitted to Ashley his yucky ‘interlude’ with Kelly, didn’t he? I think it has something to do with that spray-on love potion Ashley and Stitch developed. Victor stole the formula, I think.

Cee Cee, I think you are right! Victor got the product, then gave it back to jabot. He must have done something to it that would “ruin” Jack.

Who do you think is the “mystery” person in the confessional? And, I think it’s odd that a couple of characters have recently mentioned that Stitch’s and Kelly’s mother has just “disappeared” and no one knows where she is. Or, is this another red herring?

It is definitely a red herring. It is always the case…..thing is, I am so tired of the continuos stupidity of these ‘mysteries’. And, why in a church, of all places? Is that supposed to have some significance?
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it is Austin. The corpse was a fake ….everything orchestrated by Victor…or, it is Kelly herself.

After today’s episode, Ron?…..I think Stitch may also be the mystery-person in the confessional. Why do I think that? Well, no sooner than Abby told Victoria Ben had to leave to take care of a matter, the scene changes to Victor and the far-fetched meeting place….the confessional. Another red herring??

I think the writers are reading our posts for ideas since they don’t know what they’re doing!

And, yes, I caught the “quick cut” from Abby/Victoria comment about Stitch to Victor scene. As fast as they move these storylines these days, and leave out vital plot details for the viewers, you’d think they’d “own up” to the mystery in the confessional! Still, Victor said something like, “People must not know we know each other.” Didn’t he?

I also thought there was an Austin body double. And I thought that of Jack. With Victor being so cocky sure of himself and owning Jabot and the Abbotts, I spend a bit too much time trying to figure out what he has on them.
