The Katie Couric new talker, Katie is about to debut on September 10th and the new series has cleared in 95% of the country in General Hospital’s current time slot.
Now for the first time the marketing and promotions team behind Katie has released its first promo enticing people to watch the series.
The series will be filmed in New York and will be mix of entertainment and informative segments to the viewing audience at home.
Check out the promo after the jump and then let us know your thoughts. We are sure you have them!
I don’t watch tv for talk or reality, I watch it to escape. This will not be on my viewing schedule. The only show I record during the day is General Hospital. My nights are filled with fun and fantasy – Burn Notice, Dallas, Bones, Once Upon A Time, Castle, Greys Anatomy, Psych, Grimm and Blue Bloods. If I want reality, I can just look around, and if I want talk, I’ll call a friend.
Wanna help save our soaps boycott abc excepted for gh.Not giving them any ratings day or not.I’m not a dog they can train to watch what they want as they said.Boycott them all except gh and it will show them they can’t train us.
With ya…Mary…No ABC in my house since OLTL was cancelled. I don’t watch GH…and couldn’t now that I don’t have soapnet anymore. I don’t miss ABC at all!!!! The boycott continues…on…and on….and on!!!!
If I record anything I record cooking shows on the cooking channel/food net, but I WILL NOT RECORD THIS!
I don’t and won’t watch more talk/reality on ABC!! I want to watch my soaps., I have not watched ABC’s daytime programs in MONTHS. Sorry Katie won’t be watching you either. ABC has brought daytime television to such a low. Without AMC and OLTL I just don’t see ABC’s daytime shows ever making it. They will ALL fail ABC!!
ALL of us soap fans….not just OLTL & AMC fans…have to boycot KC’s show. We ALL have to stick together in our keeping the genre alive.
Another hugely forced smile plastered all over her face .it actually made my face hurt watching. Kind of reminds me of all the forced smiles from the Spew.
Sorry Katie but you backed up the wrong network. ABCD lost a tremendous ammount of loyal viewers by removeing 2..NOT 1 but 2 soaps in 1 day. Without the soaps or scripted drama’s or seriels …what ever the world want to call them but they are called soaps to us LOYAL viewers you will not succeed. Even with GH as your lead in your not getting us viewers. Go talk to your bosses and ask them to make it right by us and then well concider your talk show.
Exactly correct, Luci….I will never ever watch Kc’s new show…
Will Not Watch this show! Will not watch any replacement shows on ABC/D.. Boycotting eveything Except for the one remaing Daytime Drama. I only watch General Hospital and want One Life to Live/All My Children back on TV on a network that cares about their actors, cast, crew, and Viewers. Thank you
Yes, I AGREE WITH YOU DENISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
will not be watching,,,, only watch GH….NO ABC…..bring back OLTL >>>> NOW!
I want OLTL back also….I kind of doubt it..
Hey susan m, I heard that it will be on for 2 hours in case its longer why don’t you tape for 3, also they are doing the awards for the soaps at the start of the emmys and doing all the others later so you won’t miss any of the soaps winners it will all be on in the beginning, they are going to do something special for One life to life and all my children who knows when that will be on, If I was you I would tape for 3 hours. I hope I helped you. Remember a while back we were discussing that the last award given out won’t be to the soap? If I remember correctly it will be best talk show, Like who cares who wins that? I don’t.
I fast forward my television guide and the emmy’s are on from 8:00 -10:00pm. And repeated at 10:00 pm – 12:00am..But to be on the safe sidewll record it for three hours………….Thanks for your help barbara t…..Enjoy yourself watching the emmy’s……………………Hope Erika Slezsak WINS!!!!!!!!! Cross your FINGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I will never watch Katie Couric unless she has GH for her lead in.
And in all honesty; (a word that is not in ABC/D’s vocabulary)
I probably wouldn’t watch her even then.
I don’t like TALK SHOWS, I LOVE SOAP OPERAS.
GENERAL HOSPITAL WITH THE ADDED CHARACTERS FROM OLTL
ROCKS.
Katie, I don’t care whose ‘glasses’ you like
BTW, if a blind person was offered 1 hour of sight to see your show, they wouldn’t want
I won’t be watching Katie or anything on ABC daytime.
And I’m having trouble reading your text of the article. It got “leave a comment” all the way thru it. That started yesterday with another article.
Okay… I have nothing against Katie Couric or anything. But if it’s going to be in GH’s timeslot… WHERE WILL GH BE??! I thought GH was given another year of airtime. But September is right around the corner. 🙁 What’s going to happen to GH? I just lost OLTL, and can’t lose another show in the same year!
The information given, and hopefully still holds true is that GH will be moved to 2pm, and will be the lead-in for Katie’s show.
That’s what I am hearing too. I am also hearing that is why there are going to be FIXED OLTL sets on GH come this September when GH takes OLTL’s old time slot.
We GH viewers need to stick together and help GH meet their numbers. Nothing is guaranteed.
Yes, this is true, GH will be on at 2:00 EST
I never heard that GH was moving to 2 PM. Is that just an assumption? Or was it officially announced??
It was officially announced by ABC Daytime in early April (maybe 10 or 11), the same time that they announced the cancellation of The Revolution (hooray)!!! So far, guaranteed 1 year, now we have to keep watching and get more viewers to watch, so we can go beyond GH’s 50th year!!!!!!
That’s what we all thought would happen but abc is now putting good afternoon america starting july 9 for 9 weeks if it does ok in the ratings they are going to keep it stupid katie couric starts in September, where does general hospital go? Barb j and heather are right abc never announced general hospital would be moved to 2 o’clock, abc is playing head games with the soap fans they never stopped playing that’s why I continued to boycott their pathetic network and only watch general hospital we have to continue to sink that new news show they replaced the revolution with.
BarbJ is right. ABC never said that GH was moving to the 2PM slot. People are just assuming that because that’s pretty much the only slot that is available for GH. But ABC never made any announcement at all about the future of GH ever since The Revolution got cancelled.
I think ABC is waiting to see how GAA performs this summer before making a decision about GH whether it be positive or negative.
That’s right abc never said general hospital would go to the 2 o’clock hour, that sweeney person said that what ever show was better in the ratings that was the show that would stay,The revolution was canceled so general hospital should get the 2 o’clock spot but abc/disney doesn’t want to commit to general hospital, If they were really interested in keeping it they would have renewed for longer then 1 year, that really means 6 months. If they announce gh is canceled now they know the ratings will go down, I believe abc is still playing head games with the soap fans. Remember Katie couric said she would like general hospital as her lead in so we all thought that general hospital would go on at two. I can’t believe we are still discussing this, we still don’t know if we will continue to have general hospital. This is why I want nothing to do with that network, I watch general hospital then abc gets turned off. those Idiots played enough with my feelings they took away precious soaps and after loosing one life to live and all my children they continue to mess even more with the soap fans, come out and tell us one way or the other, either way I will never get sucked into their awful network again, after close to 50 years of being a abc fan daytime and prime time I am done.
As soon as I heard that ABC was replacing The Revulsion with GMA I realized that ABC has no intention of keeping GH. If GMA does well…. That’s the end of the ABC soaps. I will never watch ABC again…….
Who cares?Another stupid talk show where someone wants to promote there movie, book, diet or lifestyle going from one talk show to another.Daytime is getting worse by the day.Less scripted shows leaves you not wanting to come back.Bring back the soaps so I care to turn my tv on in the daytime. If it wasn’t for Generl Hospital I would either be watching DVRed shows are something on a movie channel.Talk and fake reality is ruining tv.
Won’t be watching her at all even if ABC brought the soaps back I wouldn’t watch Her
Where is the Network fitting in GH. Thats all I’m interested in. Sorry Katie from a Soap fan from way back but we have enough talk shows.
I agrre with you !!!!!!!!!
ABC is struggling with holding onto its da time viewers, there are hardly any with the exception of the soap watchers/fans of GH ….
since ABC/D killed off AMC and OLTL they killed off their daytime viewers with them.
ABC’s daytime is terrible and sinking without the viewers of the 2 killed soaps ..

Will NEVER watch this stupid show. Bring back our Soaps!
Didn’t watch the promo and will never watch her show! I only watch GH on ABC and will only warch GH! For everything ABC has done to the loyal soap fans they are dead to me except for GH!
Sorry Katie, I won’t be watching. ABC/D’s whole daytime lineup is talk/reality shows now, except for GH which I still watch and support. Adding yet another talk show is the last thing this network needs if the execs are hoping to lure back their daytime audience. IT AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN! Only bringing back AMC and OLTL will bring back the viewers!
Yes, who cares another stupid talk show. We need another one of these shows like a hole in the head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No Katie from anoyher soap fan.. What time slot will GH be put on ?????Don’t care for Katie Couric. Have no interest in her or her talk show…These shows don’t belong on daytime programming.. I’ve said this before…I will botcott this show also…….Again what time will GH be on in Sept. ?????????? This soap LOYAL SOAP FAN WOULD LIKE TO KNOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are generations of soap fans that still like and watch their STORIES and I don’t think they want to watch anything else besides the SOAPS………………………….
GH at 2:00 pm in Sept. ????????????
I hope so because nothing else should ever take the place of One life to live except for General Hospital, Every one has to boycott that good morning america garbage, abc is trying to see if it gets good ratings if it does it stays, How I hate abc, we refused to watch the revolution and we won now they want to shove more crap television down our throats we will destroy this crap to. No one want’s to see any more of those abc bozos in the afternoon where the soaps belong.
Nothing will ever take the place of OLTL in our hearts. Disney/ABC also owns ESPN and A&E (Lifetime, History, Biography channels).
I Agree nothing will ever take the place of OLTL in our hearts..I agree with that statement 100% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michael, I love you and your site. You have great articles and your forum is pretty classy compared to others.
However, as far as ANY new talk/variety/cooking/whatever show replacing soap operas, I think I would rather GARGLE BROKEN GLASS. Please forgive me for just commenting and not reading the article. I heard about the premier on Entertainment Weekly so I am aware. I just could care less.
I hope my fellow soap fans will NOT watch her nor THE CHEW nor this so-called GOOD MORNING AMERICA AFTERNOON show. Just watch GENERAL HOSPITAL. GH needs the numbers to survive, not the above-mentioned garbage.
She has lost a lot of jobs in the past..This one is NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soap fans doon’t ever watch her show…And she will be cancelled in no time….Katie should stay on the morning show…..Don’t invade daytime programming..Soap fans don’t want to see your LOUSY & Boring SHOW…………………….Stay off soap fans turf……..There is no room for this boloney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are right susan m.
Michael, will GH be on at 2:00pm this coming Sept. Because of that talk show w/Katie Couric??????????// Soap fans would like to know…Everyone is down on K. Couric..Please let me know about the time for GH in Sept.. THANK YOU
I am hearing that general hospital will be on at 2 but I also heard that if good afternoon america does good in the ratings it stays, so that leaves our general hospital with no where to go. That’s bad.
Isn’t the market flooded with all of these talk shows? This ad does not give a reason to what the show.
I just googled good afternoon america, this dopy show starts july 9th it’s taking over where the revolution was, This new recycled show will stay on air for 9weeks, BUT, if it turns out that it is good in the ratings THAT’S RIGHT abc/disney is keeping it, So where does that leave general hospital? good question. They lied, that woman lied, she said let the best show win and it did we boycotted the revolution and we won well soap fans here we go again abc did not fool me, I knew general hospital wouldn’t be safe for long but we have to kill this good afternoon garbage like we killed the revolution or it’s all over for our last soap on abc the sleazy network unless somehow they have a extra hour to keep it on, I think they kept general hospital for something to have some kind of ratings for the summer then rip it out from under us again I could be wrong but I say Continue with the boycott because it ain’t over yet.
I think you are exactly right. ABC would gladly substitute the cheaper GAA for GH if GAA’s ratings were adequate, but they won’t be. Nobody is interested in the content of GAA that it will crash and burn like The Revolution.
The same is true of Katie. People are sick to death of talk shows. Viewers don’t care about production cost cutting, executive bonuses, and shareholder profits. Viewers want scripted entertainment, not faked reality (as Mary said above).
Katie’s promo shows nothing but her socializing with what appear to be average people in New York. There is nothing here to suggest a talk show with her will be anything special. I am grateful to Katie for her interview of Palin, which I thought was revealing, but I can’t stand the thought of anymore talk shows. I don’t care who is hosting them.
I hope you are right about good afternoon america crashing and burning, I know I won’t watch, Doesn’t that promo for Katie courics new show, remind you of a tooth paste commercial? All teeth.
barbara t and david you both are RIGHT. I have heard about this, let’s call it a TROJAN HORSE, through spoiler and insider forums. I have been on edge since.
We can’t let this GMA in the Afternoon Trojan Horse sneak in. We can’t watch ANYTHING but GH. Let our sets go black until GH is on. That will show them. Spread the word!
GH is only safe as long as they meet their numbers and get the demographic the network wants … whatever that is. They have to do this week to week. So don’t drop off because something is boring you. Just put the set on and leave the room if you don’t like a certain storyline or something. We can’t abandon GH for one second or it will be gone!
Like Katie, but hate the idea of this show. Her smile is too forced in this promo–I predict there will be little that’s new– just more celebrity gossip, people who have already been on countless other shows plugging their products, meaningless, shallow talk about stupid topics.
From what little I see by accident, it seems that all the talking heads spend a lot of time on each other’s shows. Just a loop of self-referential blather.
I recently witnessed about 5 minutes of The Talk before I could get away, and I couldn’t believe the stupidity of it all. They took off ATWT for this. It still stings a couple of years later.
Yes I agree, the talk is UNBERABLE! worse than the view. I boycotted it when they took of my ATWT. but like you have seen five min. of it here and there..and Now all of my ABC soaps are gone, I think GH wont be here long and they lied about the stay of execution that it got for one more year.
With all these ‘new’ shows they have planned for summer line up, where does GH fit in now? Would so love if NBC would bring back OLTL to help out thier struggling DAYS, Id switch over again for that
Wont watch this or anything else on ABC unless they see the huge mistake they made and bring back OLTL.
If Kathie had half a brain, she would woman up and take that 4pm slot. She refused to go at the 4pm slot because she was scare to go against judge Judy. Well, Kathie Oprah survived judge Judy she didn’t survive the soap fans. But, hey she’ll accomplish to make history, she already have a hit club before her show air, and she tanked her show before it even air. Oprah is lonely, Kathie can go and keep her company.
Thanks Michael. But I don’t want to watch the video. I don’t want to watch Katie Couric. All I want is All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital.
What happens to general hospital?
Won’t be watching because my television does not go on ABC at all, anymore. I DVR General Hospital and watch it later, so no Katie for me. I really liked her on the Today Show when she was on there, but I refuse to watch anything on ABC after the cancellation of my two favorite shows in the world, One Life to Live and All My Children!!! Sorry Katie!!!
Katie, making a big mistake trying to go up against soap fans. You wont last one season.
still will not watch…..wat to much news and talk shows for me…..put the soaps back on…leave news starts by 800am goes until1oo COME ON GUYSITS ALL REPEATS
If ABC cancels GH I willnever watch ABC daytime again. I already quit from 11-2. I really hate being forced to watch more TALk crap.
Will not be watching! I now only watch GH, since ABC/Disney cancelled my other programs! I enjoy scripted show and not reality or talk show like this one. This is a dime a dozen show, one I will not watch!
I do not watch unscripted reality or talk shows. The only show I watch on abc day or night is general hospital. Until abc brings AMC or OLTL back that is all I will ever watch!
i put abc on for general hospital, then its off till next day, will not watch katie or anything else on abc i like to get lost in fanasty of the soaps for few hrs a so now watch days on nbc then go to bravo,if nothing good is on. i’ll watch fox news on cable i used to watch abc from morning till bedtime, now i don’t even llook in tv guide to see whats on
will be watching the ratings for katie on facebook hope she sinks fast lol
We do NOT want Ms. Couric on our daytime lineup. Another talk show with another inflated ego is not necessary. No offense, but I hope this show fails. The network needs to be sent a message that they cancelled the wrong show. Long live ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
OLTL was the highest rated ABC soap…..It should still be on….ABC’s afternoon lineup stinks…and us soap fans are showing ABC big time how mad we are. EVERYONE has to boycott KC’s new show….Let’s all show ABC..AGAIN, that we will not watch any shows that replaced OLTL & AMC…Our voices were heard..and will continue to be!
We don’t want talk/entertainment/reality on daytime! We the loyal viewers want our Soaps aks scripted dramas not more self help, diet, book promo’s etc. Why doesn’t this network care about what viewers want? What does it take to get through to the powers that be? Will they understand when there are very few if any viewers left!! Their network has lost millions of viewers already! We the faithful audience of millions were not retrained to watch their less expensive programming like they thought! We are grown people and we know what we want! That will surely go down as one of the biggest mistakes a television network has ever made! They are too egotistical to admit they made a gigantic mistake. If you do not want to be in the Soap aka scripted drama business release the rights to them. You could go into a partnership with someone that does want to do the scripted drama genre. That would make alot of people happy and give us a short release from the reality of real world dramas we face. You would probably gain back many of the loya; viewers you had for 20, 30. or even 40 plus years. Thank You Michael Fairman for this article for us to comment upon, good job.
Profits matter over viewers, and that means generating revenue from lower production costs and fewer viewers. It’s business and screw the viewers.
If they lose enough viewers there will be no business left to generate revenue! If this does happen to them I hope I am around to see it. With more viewers they should regenerate more revenues for all involved. They could have made changes such as less expensive wardrobe items and less elaborate sets. They could have the actors work shorter hours to keep costs down. Working shorter hours they could pursue other work projects and still do the soaps. They could have done fewer episodes weekly making the budget friendlier alternative programming on the other days. Many possibilities could have been discussed and acted upon.
I agree with everything you wrote in your reply. From what I understand, talk/reality shows are so much less expensive to produce, around 40% less, that it is simply easier for networks to replace scripted dramas instead of intensely managing them to reduce costs. But ultimately this seems self-defeating for the reason you state.
Viewership continues to decline, and it isn’t just because of more technological options or people working. Television is mostly unwatchable, in my opinion (except for PBS), because talk/reality shows resemble cesspools.
But regardless of what garbage is broadcast, for example The Revolution, there exists an undiscriminating, lowest common denominator of a million or more people who will watch anything, which seems to generate sufficient revenue from cheap productions to justify their existence from the perspective of business.
I wonder how Katie will feel when her show is as dismal a failure as The Revolution. People are fed up with what’s being shoved down their throats and Katie is not what the audience is looking for. To put her in General Hospital’s time slot is going to be a double whammy against her. Of course we know ABC/D doesn’t care because she’s cheaper but her ego is going to take a beating as well as her reputation.
No Katie…No Spew…No GAA…only GH.
she’s perky i’ll say that much.
Katie at least went to the bosses and said she wanted General Hospital as her lead in……back before the Revolution was actually cancelled. I don’t think boycotting Katie will help OLTL, but getting other to watch GH and tuning in every day will help he future of soaps. general Hospital numbers need to be as strong or better than CBS for ABC to ever consider the addition of another soap.
“Katie at least went to the bosses and said she wanted General Hospital as her lead in”
I would not read any more into that than someone protecting their own butt.
That’s right christine, she was protecting her own butt, she doesn’t want to hear the soap fans going after her for taking over the 3 o,clock spot that has belonged to general hospital for decades, so she said she wanted it for her lead in, I am sure Katie did her homework and doesn’t want to say anything stupid like that lab coat gal said with the apples and oranges comment.
until ABC puts back entertainment, by trained professionals, less talk/reality junk, I will not have ABC on in our house except for General Hospital. ABC/Disney are the worse liars in the world, against childhood obesity, yet add a 15th 24/7 channel for children. Actions are louder than your words.
You counted them? they really have 15 channels? And we are here begging for 1 soap channel. I guess that is a good way for the kids to pack on the pounds while they snack in front of the t v watching those dumb disney channels. Seriously I think that parents use them as baby sitters thinking they are doing their kids right when in fact they are doing more harm then good.
i will not be watching….not trying to be mean but i think people are over her.
your right, People have been over her for a long time now, she should have stayed with what ever morning show she was on. she invaded the nightly news, that didn’t work and now she want’s to take over where the soaps were, that’s not going to work either, Daytime is for soaps not News, food and talk shows with the same celebrities that are on over and over again bragging about their lives. It’s a waste.
im sorry ms couric but i will not watch ur show the only show on abc that i watch is gh there for i dont care for talk shows if i wanted to watch a talk show i would either turn on the food network or a channel that has them i hope abc realize they are going to lose millions on this stupid idea just bc they wanted more money for themselves greed gets you nowhere!!!
Well definitly not be watching this show……Do not care for another stupid talk show. They just do not learn, all we want is our soaps back. ABC just can’t admit that they were wrong to get rid of our soaps so they continue to go along with this delusional idea that what the people want is another stupid reality talk show. Hey I got news for you ABC, we have enough reality with our own lives, we just want to escape to a different world when we turn on our TV’s and those worlds consist of Pinevalley and Llanview!
Hell NO!!! I won’t be wasting my time with this crappy show!!! D.O.A.!!!!!
Katie Couric. she was impressive on NIBC’ Today show… after she left…
she lost all credibility…. Phony is easy to spot. she’s not real. Come on ABC.. she failed as a CBS network news anchor. in any case… not genuine. “perky” ? “sugary SWEET” geez! ouch! hit me over the head if you catch me watching another talk show/filler/cheaply produced show.
Will not watch Couric…she’s full of hot air, can’t standd her face or her voice…all I hear is “white noise” when she opens her mouth. I’ve been a GH fan for over 40 years…
I hope KC has a back up plan for when she’s falls flat on her face yet again, she’s running out of Networks…
I wonder what it takes for these dumb networks to get it through there business heads every time she is on anything the ratings go down. I know I don’t want to see her I find her to be very boring and full of herself. Like you I can’t stand the woman and if she takes over general hospital she will be disliked even more then she is disliked now. Abc/disney is killing their daytime lineup even worse since they cancelled One life to live and All my children.
Not another talk show please. We want soaps! I will not watch.
by not watching abc,i don’t see the comercials, so i’m not tempted to buy them any more, noticed my grocery bill is dropping. i don’t buy the goodies i used to to get. also since i’m finished with disney products, i walk around stores more, look at different brands, before i always rushed home to watch soaps. even my hubby doesn’t watch abc anymore and disney channels are never on in my house.i’m not going to watch a bunch of boring women talking about stuff i’m not interested in.tv changed, they used to care about what the viewers liked, but now its a few know it alls think they do, well i don’t need abc disney so you will soon be lower in ratings than nbc
Won’t be watching this either. ABC can’t train me to watch the garbage the want to put on in the afternoon. Admit they were wrong and bring back OLTL and AMC
They should move Katie to first run syndication, like Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil, and restore the schedule back to the way it was before they messed with it. Just remember who Katie’s new show’s producer is, Jeff Zucker. Jeff is the man who caused the NBC late night fiasco a few years ago, he was fired by a unanimous vote of the NBC Universal board of directors. Plus, most talk radio shows, except for non political ones, like Ryan Seacrest, Billy Bush, and Loveline with Dr. Drew, are being cancelled by local radio stations left and right. They have moved Glenn Beck’s show to the middle of the night here in Baltimore. WBAL-AM/WIYY-HD4 (they share a HD Radio transmitter with a local FM/HD rock radio station that is in the same building, 98 Rock) had cancelled Rush Limbaugh to allow a longer version the late Ron Smith’s radio show a few years ago at listener’s requests, and he was picked up by WCBM-AM, a low rated Republican radio station, where MD Del. Pat MThey should move Katie to first run syndication, like Dr. So, unless you have real expertise at something, like Dr. Oz or Dr. Phil, you don’t stand a chance. I predict that Ricki Lake’s new show will be a flop as well, she is riding on the coattails of her Dancing With The Stars appearance and she had started to bring on too many drag queens on her last show and this one will probably be more of the same, and there had to a reason her last show was cancelled.
Rcki Lake? Hey, Ricki, the 90’s called…they want their soaps back, and so do the fans!
Love my self Katie give me break .For some reson she thinks
she’s hot.I didn;t get the memo.did anyone else?

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’s’ Heather Tom on Working with TV Son Crew Morrow: ‘I’ve Always Wanted to Play an Overprotective, Overbearing Mother’ (Exclusive)

In an ironic twist of fate, and only in the soaps, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Heather Tom’s (Katie Logan) on-screen son is played by Crew Morrow (Will Spencer), the now 21-year-old son of her former TV brother on The Young and the Restless, Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman).
For those who have followed the six-time Daytime Emmy-winning actress’ career, Tom began on Y&R back in 1990 as Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor’s (Eric Braeden) daughter Victoria Newman. She played the role until 2003. Four years later, she joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful and has been there ever since.
Next month, at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Heather might add two gold statuettes to her collection with nominations for Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama Series (which would be her record-breaking 7th for an actress), and one for being a part of B&B’s writing team.

WHICH MORROW IS IN THE ROOM?
In a new livestream conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Heather recalled her reaction to seeing Crew Morrow on set when he started on B&B over two years ago, and pointed out the uncanny similarities between her TV son and her former TV brother.
“I just can’t even tell you how genetics is weird,” explained Tom. “Because it’s like they are the same person; the cadence and his voice and the way he laughs. When Crew was on the shows for the first couple of months, it would take me out of the scene. I would be like, ‘Oh, my God! It’s Joshua.’ It’s crazy. It’s so wonderful to have him. I love having him there. We’re so lucky to have Crew. I think he’s a wonderful addition to the Spencer family. I love that Bill (Don Diamont) and Katie’s son is on the canvas in a real way.”
In recent weeks, fans of The Bold and the Beautiful have seen a different side of Katie in regards to her son, Will. She simply does not approve, and does not trust Melissa Dylan (Sydney Bullock) as far as she can throw her. That puts a wrinkle in the mother/son relationship.

HEATHER TOM IS THRILLED THE CHARACTER OF WILL SPENCER IS ALL GROWN-UP
“Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this story since Will was born,” exclaimed Heather “To be like the overprotective, overbearing mother, momma bear, I love it!”
As for Katie’s attitude. which many feel may need an “attitude adjustment,” Tom has it all figured out on just how she is tackling her scenes! “I have all kinds of justifications for it,” reveals the multi-talented star.

KATIE SEES ALL SORTS OF RED FLAGS WITH DYLAN
“So. it’s not just Katie being the b-word,” proclaims Tom. “It’s that Will, her son, whom she loves and supports so much, has been constantly saying about Electra (Laneya Grace), ‘This is the love of my life. She’s broken my heart. I love her. All I want to do is get her back.'”
“So I think Katie could be like, ‘Okay, well, Electra’s a little flighty, but my son loves her, so I’m going to try to support that relationship,” explains Heather. “In addition, Will has never told his mother, ‘I love Dylan,’ at all. I think Katie is thinking of telling Will, ‘You should run, not walk, from this girl who seems somewhat obsessed!’ I don’t know where they’re going with the Electra/Will/Dylan triangle, but I think Katie’s very focused on Dylan for a multitude of reasons.”
So, do you like seeing Heather Tom as Katie going into overprotective momma bear-mode, now that the series has a major young triangle between Electra/Will/Dylan? What do you think about the fact that Heather has been a long-running scene partner with father/son across two different soaps in Joshua Morrow and Crew Morrow? ‘General Hospital’s’ Finola Hughes Delivers the ‘Power Performance of the Week’

There was never any doubt that in watching the riveting and emotional scenes on General Hospital which featured Finola Hughes as a PTSD-driven and mentally tortured Anna Devane, that when the climatic moments in Anna’s story aired, that we would not be singing the praises of Hughes. Once again, Finola showcased why she is one of the soap opera genres greatest assets and actresses.
In the key scenes, Anna has had a complete breakdown as she has lured and cornered Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) on Mount Emerson, and even thought through how she would kill her and cover it up, all thanks to hearing the voice and seeing a dead man, Peter August (Wes Ramsey). It’s visions of Peter that keeps egging Anna on to pull the trigger on Britt while in her delusional state.
Before Britt realizes that Anna trapped her in meeting her in Mount Emerson, she is very confused as to why she was all the way out in the boondocks to talk about what happened to her brother, Cassius Faison. However, Britt soon learned that what Anna was about to do is personal, and not professional, as she pulls the gun on her.

ANNA FIRES HER GUN IN GAME-CHANGING MOMENT
When Jason (Steve Burton) shows up to save the say, he tries to talk Anna off the ledge, begging her to not shoot Britt and make one of the greatest mistakes of his life. When Jason figured out Anna felt she needed to kill anyone related to Cesar Faison, he made her think twice, because that would mean, she also would need to end the lives of two of Maxie’s children, James and Bailey Lu.
Anna can’t stop seeing hallucinations of Peter pushing her to shoot Britt. Suddenly and completely overcome, Anna fires bullets straight in the direction of where she sees Peter as she declares this all must end tonight.
After the shots are fired, Anna realized what she had done and just sobbed and shook. It was a devastating and heartbreaking moment for longtime General Hospital fans to see the beloved Anna Devane, super spy, so lost. Anna explained to Jason, after he was able to disarm her, how she was being pushed to kill Britt by her visions of Peter.
EMMY-WORTHY SCENES FOR 2027
In another hankie-inducing moment, Anna just grabs Jason and breaks down in his arms. If these weren’t Emmy-worthy scenes, we don’t know what is, and it must be remembered by Hughes, General Hospital, and hopefully the voting body of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) when Emmy submissions and voting get underway in 2027 for the 54th annual Daytime Emmys.
From everything we noted above, to the sheer brilliance of her work, Michael Fairman TV names Finola Hughes, this week’s Power Performance of the Week.
Now let us know, do you agree with our pick of Finola? Were you moved to tears during the gut-wrenching scenes? Should Finola include these scenes in an Emmy submission in 2027, should she decide to compete for Lead Actress gold? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
