In a touching post on her Instagram over the weekend, General Hospital’s exiting Kelly Monaco shared a photo sitting alongside her TV family, the Davis Girls. Monaco is in the photo next to Kate Mansi (Kristina), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) and Kristen Vaganos (Molly).

Along with the photo, Kelly captioned it, “Last scene with the Davis girls. 😘🥲🙏🏻 still doesn’t make any sense to me.” The first person to comment in the post was TV mom, Nancy Lee Grahn, who shared, “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.”- Albert Einstein. I love you. All will be All will be well. There are some things a TV mother just knows.”

On Friday, September 27th, Monaco wrapped her almost 21-year run as Sam McCall after being told in August the plans to let her go. Kelly’s last episode is scheduled to air later this fall and according to reports, Sam is being killed-off the canvas. GH has not offered to any outlet an official comment on Kelly’s departure from the series.

A groundswell of support began after news of Monaco’s dismissal from the long-running ABC soap opera where the #IStandWithKelly campaign picked up steam, and as of this writing now has over 16.4K signatures on a petition asking for GH to reconsider their position and rehire Kelly.

Monaco has indicated that she will give a “proper statement”on her exit when the time is right as many are waiting to hear from the beloved actress from her perspective of what went down behind the scenes. In a cute photo below, Kelly was on set and in scenes the same day as Van Hansis debuted as the new Lucas Jones.

Kelly’s mom, Carmina Monaco took to X on her daughter’s last day and shared, “On this final day, just four days shy of the anniversary of her first episode on October 1, 2003, Kelly will close the door of her dressing room for the last time. This moment is a difficult one, but knowing that she has had such an incredible, devoted fan base has given her strength.”

So what do you think of Kelly’s final behind the scene photo with the Davis Girls? Hard to believe this group will be down one family member in the weeks to come. Check out the snap below then share your thoughts in the comment section.

I have loved #GH and watched it religiously for more than 50 years (even if I had to tape it and watch later). But I am so angry with Frank Valentini and those at ABC, Disney and General Hospital who have done this to Kelly Monaco that all the excitement I used to feel for the show is totally gone. What a shame.

That just goes to show you that these idiots in charge DO CARE ABOUT THE FANS their VIEWERS!
They only do what they want, I can only wish they walked them out and see how it feels.

These things happen. Heck, even total shoes are let go. Actors and characters come and go, often not of their choice. For me, Sam ran out of story. Others could go too, I think.

Absolutely agree

Doesnt make any sense but Kelly is a star, brighter than anyone else on that measly show, and she will find something better to do.

I’m holding out and choosing to believe that something good will be changed, and that Kelly and Sam will be back sooner then later. I really can’t believe the show is doing this. I love this show and the actors on it, but don’t feel the same about the writers and FV, some shady shit Is going on at GH and its sad that we the viewers have to pay for it.

Nothing has made sense with this show since the constant writers merry go round. Need to have stayed with the core characters. Obviously ABC wants the show canceled. They may not have to wait very long with 1.8M viewers. Miss you Kelly but consider the change as a blessing.

You mean core characters like Lucky Spencer, Lulu Spencer, Lucas Jones, a new, wonderful focus on Tracy Quartermaine, a ton of air time for Anna, Robert, Felicia, Mack and a fun, even if short return for Holly Sutton, the soon to return from vacation Genie Francis as Laura Collins, those kind of core characters that have been around far longer than Sam McCall and have had front burner storylines as of late? With ABC/GH not putting out a statement, Kelly not putting out a statement there is clearly more here than just a storyline dictated exit. My take, just conjecture, is that there was maybe some not so positive behavior or issues from Kelly. Or maybe it’s simply that, while I used to very much enjoy the character of Sam, Kelly has been phoning it in for a long time now, basically just recited her lines with little to no emotion or depth. Has she had some crap story, yes, but even when given great material to work with, she has been giving the same, dull, monotone performance for too many years now and I’m excited for what is to come. Losing a core character is sometimes just necessary to keep things fresh and bring great story.

Well said. Completely agree!

Bravo! I second this.

Jeremy
You captured everything perfectly here.

The show seems more balanced. Clear example is episode count for September. Appearing in the most episodes – Elizabeth! Not Sonny nor Carly. The vets are key to story – not just afterthoughts.

I’m just not a fan of Sam or the actress. This was a good move, and I’m looking forward to the changes that are coming.

They only run out of story when they don’t have imaginative writers.Shame on you general hospital.

They write people into a corner and then get rid of them cuz they don’t have a story?! Having Violet struggle is also dumb write something for these talented actors! Where is Olivia? Dr O? Scottie? Kelly can act they need writers who can write…

It’s sad if anyone loses a job but that is the nature of show business and many actors would be over the moon to have had a gig that lasted two decades. I can’t wait to see the fall out all across the canvas that Sam’s death will cause. Going to be an emotional fall with lots of good story, for sure.

The show doesn’t need more tragedy. It’s one death after another either by horrible disease, babies born dead or killed from a fall, or crime. Getting rid of legacy characters from a soap which is a genre about legacy families and legacy characters, is always a mistake. They start eliminating all the history and viewers who have watched for a long time are just chucked on the side along with the actors to bring aboard new eyes. Back in the day, there were able to incorporate both by keeping various generations of the legacy families. Now, they’re obliterating them.

This is one, long time, but not necessarily legacy character. You know who are legacy characters, Lucky & Lulu Spencer who have just been brought back, Lucas Jones who was just brought back, Anna, Robert, Mack & Felicia who are all getting a lot of deserved story and screen time.

There must be more to this and the way ABC/GH AND Kelly are remaining quiet, this is seems to me to be some kind of dismissal for bad behavior or simply poor job performance given that Kelly, although once full of fire, has been giving a lackluster, monotone, robotic performance for several years now, whether the material she had was good or not and yes, some of it has not been good.

I have been saying all of this to my other friends who watch for a few years now, if she wasn’t going to do and better, play ball as it were, it was time for her to go.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Published

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
