By Michael Fairman

Looks like The Young and the Restless may be going in yet another direction with the character of Noah Newman, Sharon and Nick’s son!

Today, Kevin Schmidt who recently returned to the role (after being let-go once before) tweeted the news and stated, “Hey @Official_YandR! How many times you gonna try and bring in a “New Noah”? There’s only one! Sorry to those who watch for me.”

So that begs the question, what is the series going to do with the role? And if there is a “New Noah” who is it going to be?

So soapers, do you think Kevin is getting a raw deal here?   Would you like to have seen him continue in the role?  Or, who would you think would be a possible replacement?  Weigh-in!

Should have stuck with Kevin

if i were kevin id tell young and restless to kiss my a….

I agree, Randy!

I think Kevin’s a great actor who’s getting a raw deal. I’m hoping one of the other soaps (GH would be great) picks him up pronto! He’ll land on his feet, regardless. He’s far too talented to languish for long.

It’s clear they’re trying to recast Noah once again and it just won’t work. This character since SORAS does NOT work. Let the character go.

This Noah is just fine thank you, w/ all the other changes going on at Y&R it would be smart to leave Kevin just where he is, a familiar face….I wonder if this idea is the old regime or the new one, if it is new one, good way to upset all the fans,

So no replacement is needed

I love this kid as Noah but really, the Y&R cast is HUGE-I cannot see a viable, interesting storyline for him. Everyone is creeping in on everyone else agewise, you can hardly tell the generations apart. I mean Noah almost seems as old as Daniel & Kevin, it is just weird & now Summer is so old. They just move characters along too fast.

kevin schmidt as noah newman should stay. they recasted before with that horrible actor. he only lasted for 6 months. why bother recasting noah again its going to blow in there ugly faces i mean the stupid producers. keep the current noah on please. he is a good actor. please recast ashley abbott as soon as possible. with the right actress. eileen davidson on days of our lives again beginning her first air date is october 10. young and the restless made a huge mistake in firing eileen davidson. if they ever ask eileen to come back to the young and the restless she hopefully will say no and spit on sony and the producers. eileen is a talented wonderful classy actress.

His character could be killed off like Cassie. I couldn’t care less at this point.

They need to get rid of the whole musician thing for Noah, why does every young character have to do something in the arts? And they just need to reveal why he and Eden broke up, it’s been so long now that nobody cares, but they vaguely bring it up every once in a while like it’s this huge thing. I thought Noah was going to come out of the closet at Cassie’s grave when he said he had something to tell her, that would have been a huge thing to have a gay Newman and the only thing that makes sense of why he and Eden broke up. I like Kevin Schmidt as Noah, sorry to see him go. Again.

That’s a good point, TommyBoy. I also hate how they keep teasing some big breakup story, but never get on with it. The coming out could be true too.

And what about last year when they had that girl Hunter? That never amounted to anything.

It seems like he comes in an out every few months anyway. Is he on contract? If they’re going to recast, give the character more to do, or just leave him in NYC for a year until you figure something out that’s more viable to keep him around. But don’t keep having him pop in and out. If they are doing this recast immediately, they’re probably going to age him so he can mingle with the 25+ crowd and out of the recently SORASed 18 year olds’ orbit.

Is this true? sorry, has to do with Eileen Davidson… being let go and replaced with Beth Chamberlin. I just read this in Wikipedia… 08/14/12.

In July 2012, it was announced that Chamberlin will appraise the role of Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless after Eileen Davidson was let go from the show. Chamberlin will be reunited with Marcy Rylan, who played her daughter Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light. Rylan currently plays Abby Newman, Ashley’s daughter on The Young and the Restless, as the new Ashley.

I was going to ask the same thing. I tweeted her because I think it can not be true or it would have been posted by Micheal already?

for the love of soaps… and to see Beth Chamberlin back on our screens… would be amazing.

Haven’t heard anything about Beth Chamberlin. I don’t trust everything I read in Wikipedia…anyone can write stuff on there.

WOW! I had not heard this bit of news. Michael Fairman, what do you know?

You had me intrigued so I looked up Beth Chamberlin (only) on Wikipedia and there is a link at the bottom of her page that goes to “wishful casting” and then straight to Daytime Confidential. I think you can probably blame Jamey Giddens for this. That being said, I do not see how that should even be on a Wikipedia page since it is someone’s wish list and not a real story. I thought Wikipedia cracked down on this kind of nonsense.

OK… shows how much i know… ie: about how Wikipedia works… i thought this was the real deal… and, my first thought when i did read this… was that MF, would already have told us.

i was like… how did this happen to Eileen… and yet i love both these ladies.

Just got a tweet from Beth and she confirmed that it is not true at all….but she would love to do it…hint hint Y&R

To Patrick –

Yeah, since Wikipedia exists because of volunteers, all you need is an account to create/edit pages. I remember back in 2009 someone had gotten a hold of Hilary Clinton’s page and wrote some nasty thing about her. It stayed up there for quite a while until someone got wind of it.

Before I had kids I actually created some pages of mostly soap actors and models (I started the one on Michael Graziadei), but my stuff was always being edited [too much] and the pictures were taken down because they were copyrighted and not part of their Wikipedia Commons. I understand, but I got mad when someone would just go and edit everything I worked on so I quit doing it. Now they complain they need donations. What surprises me is just HOW that article from Daytime Confidential was put up unless it was someone from DC that edited the page … which would not surprise me.

Oh, I almost forgot, back when Guiding Light was canceled someone got on Wikipedia and said, get this, that the characters of Mallett and Marina were going to GENERAL HOSPITAL. I like Wikipedia as much as the next person, but have learned to take what they say with a HUGE grain of salt and I do not rely on it for the absolute truth. 🙂

That was NEVER true about Beth. It was a wish casting by another blogger that some dimmed thought person put onto Wikipedia, which I immediately removed due to it being untrue.

Thank you, Scott! I hate when that happens. 🙂

Kevin Schmidt. I blame the writers… and the EP… at the time… MAB? What a loss… of all the younger cast…. Noah… was the most interesting… his chemistry with Nikki and Victor…. let alone… especially, Sharon… is a huge loss.

FANS of DOOL… what about Kevin Schmidt, as Shawn D.? Hope’s son? NIce huh? would make up for the loss of Bo… or is he too young? He’s that good an actor… course, it’ll always be in my opinion, Jason Cook. wishful thinking.

Why does a man with his acting skills still gets lured into the trap of the soap world! Are they that desperate to work even knowing that a few months down the line they will be dropped again and again! Do they not have any respect for themselves??? Another case like Adrienne Frantz!!!

Daytime dramas often use children as story points and then — surprise! — they remain on the canvas and grow up. Sure you can send them to boarding school in Switzerland or note they are at camp all summer, but you know what, they are part of the family. so please, writers, think ahead when birthing a baby. How will that child fit into its families (there is never a nuclear set of parents.. steps, halves…)? Are you content to have a child around for some time? Do you realize we like to see children grow up? Parenting is a potent source of story. Marriage and pregnancy are taken so lightly and used so commonly anymore, I have to wonder if the importance and the joy of such life events has been lost. SORAS-ing to the extremes Y&R and B&B do ruin things, it seems. The characters and the show’s future are painted into a corner. What to do?

As for Mr. Schmidt and Noah, this is a shame. I always thought Noah could be the sane one, the moral center for Nick and Sharon, two troubled parents who once upon a time were really compelling characters to follow. Now Nick cannot seem to follow a straight and narrow path. And Sharon’s character has been ruined to a point I do not know if she can come back. But oh, I would love to see her do it. What a fabulous story arc: the resurrection and rebirth of Sharon (ant in a vengeful angry way). Her son, Noah, could be the catalyst. And Mr. Schmidt would be good at playing in that plot, for sure.

Yet another example of SORASing the kids to death on Y&R. They age them and then their storyline just goes nowhere. Sigh…

I think it’s a big mistake to let Kevin Schmidt go – again.
He is a fine young actor ….who has been underused as Noah.
And what of this story line plot that something happened in Paris involving Noah and Eden….is that ever going to come to light – or is it just going to be another dropped thread ?

Good Luck Kevin !! Y&R’s loss will be someonelses gain.

This is so ridiculous. I was going to comment how great it was to see (Kevin’s) Noah at Jack and Nicki’s wedding. I hadn’t seen him in awhile and think he is a very talented, likeable actor. Didn’t they learn from that AWFUL, laughable, SORAS they did of Noah when he was suddenly a hipster musician? Yuck! No thanks. And I like hipster musicians, but not in that case.

I’d like to add I didn’t like Kyle before, but I REALLY don’t like SORAS Kyle. I don’t know who their casting director is, but they have had some real clinkers.

I don’t care for Blake Hood’s portrayal of Kyle either. It also seems they do not know how to write for him. First he is the ladies’ man sleeping with all of the available GC twenty-somethings (including a one night stand with Eden) and now he is Eden’s protector and acts like he is in love with her and all this after how he said he didn’t want to be serious with anyone.

All the while Eden was in hypnosis and flailing about I wanted to rip Kyle’s head off for interfering.

And just WHERE are they headed with Kyle at Newman Enterprises?? The fact that the actor looks so much like Michael Muhney (hair AND wardrobe) was just bad decision making.

Maybe the new team can have one of the characters have the last 5 years be just a dream (like Pam Ewing on Dallas) and fix a bunch of messes.

I always hope that one episode will start with John Abbot waking from his coma and saying, “I just had the worst nightmare!”

That would be awesome! We need Drucilla back too!

The kid will be fine. Looks like he’s standing in front of a CW sign. Maybe he already has a prime time gig in the works. It will just be a matter of time. He will probably show up years from now with an Oscar. Hold your head high and move on to the next big thing! Life Goes On. Young and Restless needs to get rid of all the kids and people not related to anyone who matters and start all over from scratch at this point. Keep Katherine…bring back Brenda Dickson as Jill and let them duke it out flike they did int the 70’s for some real ratings points. Oh yeah…I guess they need a man to fight over. How about Neil? Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. They might like to dip a little dark meat in their gravy. That would make things interesting for sure.

They need to figure out what they are going to do with the character. If they are going to age him, then he should be treated as an adult and not Sharon and Nick’s little boy. Did he graduate from college? College, did he graduate from high school??!!! I was afraid of Jill Farren Phelps joining this show, but maybe she can give it some direction. And that is something MAB couldn’t do. It’s a mess!!!!!!

The actor couldn’t commit full time so recast is needed for a good storyline hopefully. His Noah was a bore anyway

I think that the Y&R should keep Kevin; he’s a talented actor, plays the part very well, and I think everybody enjoys him for the role of Noah Newman! I wish the Producers at Y&R would STOP firing Kevin and keep him for the role as Noah!

Who’s with me?!

i want kevin to stay too, he is an awesum actor and belongs on the young and the restless…….

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
