Courtesy/Twitter

A rep for General Hospital confirmed to Soap Opera Digest Thursday that indeed legacy character Robin Scorpio-Drake will be returning for the GH Nurses’ Ball 2016 edition this May on the ABC daytime drama.  That of course, means the return of Kimberly McCullough (Robin)!

When viewers last saw Robin, she left Port Charles re-married to Patrick (formerly Jason Thompson) and headed for a new life in California with their daughter Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) in tow.

As previously first reported by Daytime Confidential, Lynn Herring is back as Lucy Coe, meaning the reigning emcee will continue to bring the humor and drama to the Nurses Ball’ festivities.  DC also revealed McCullough’s imminent return.

RRRRRRRobin! Love it! It is all about her love for Stone and AIDS itself. Why not? I cannot wait to see the scenes where Robin meets Griff AND I bet Griff and Emma will perform together at the Ball. Welcome back Kim!

Yes, my Timmmy. It would be out of this world if Robin and Griffin were twins separated at birth. Picture this: they see each other from across the room; their eyes lock; speaking without words; something otherworldly, bigger than they …..a force pulls them together. Then, they remember their time in-utero together. LOL.

In – our – ideally perfect soapie land… this would be one of the biggies danged it tho… fans were so pulling… for Griffin to be Anna’ biological LOL… your post just brings tears all for Anna… I was watching Tuesday ep last night… when Griffin and Emma .. looked like they were play acting in Anna living room… it just looked SO RIGHT Anna and her two pups… so… i’m happy with that… BUT… Grifin is still THAT mystery i’m gonna hope with you… that the GH writers… just bring it HOME… and since Griffin is still a newbie…… Read more »

I’ll watch GH again just to see Kimberly McCullough/Robin (the only Robin ) back on GH with her daughter Emma. It will be GH again with them and other Vets. The characters like Ava, Hayden, Sabrina, and Nina (nor do the actors who play them) belong on GH. In fact, it doesn’t look like my GH anymore with these Chara a

Glad to see Robin. Perhaps she can talk Sonny out of using Corleonish stunts/warnings to scare Ava from taking her baby back.

Lol, SuzieQ.
I am not very familiar with Robin, but I like her….I watched past episodes, as she aged on GH. So sweet.
Sonny will have a long way to go to get to my house, su.
So, you want Sonny to get his mojo back, is that it? Hmmmmm. I’m not into the mob or killing. You know that, right? However, “cosa nostra” doesn’t seem to be moving from GH.
Futhermore, Julian is still soooo deep into the muck, the ‘malavita’ is here to stay.
Do you think Sonny or Anna will kill Carlos? We shall see.

Absolutely excited! The NB would not be the same without Lucy and Kimberly (Robin) has always been the heart of the NB and it is a shame that it took this long to bring her back.

I am so happy to hear of these two actresses returning for the Nurses’ Ball. It is this kind of “guest star” that I want to see; not some “celebrity” with no link to the GH canvas. Returning GH stars will attract me more than anything else, so for that, I say Thank You to TPTB for pulling this off.

I was never a BIG fan of Robin, though I didn’t dislike her either. But when she had that deeply moving scene last year with Jason on the bridge, I began to appreciate her more. Of all the women in Jason’s “new” life, she was the only one other than Carly that immediately touched me. That was a beautifully underplayed scene by Kimberly & Billy, proving again that less can really be more. So I will enjoy her return to the ball. And it’s worth having Lucy at the ball just for the costume changes. That is one gal who… Read more »

That was it, those scenes on the bridge were great. In those few short moments it seemed as though Kim and Billy bonded better than Sam or Liz? Not as a pair but as friends and actors.

Good news indeed that Robin will be back for the NB in a normal capacity for the first time in an age….however, since we already know that her spouse, Patrick, shall be otherwise engaged in Genoa City, would it be too much to hope that perhaps her father-in-law, Dr. Noah Drake, could accompany her instead? What a welcome sight Rick Springfield would be! Having said that, I’m none too pleased that we are in for the umpteenth installment of “I Loathe Lucy” to endure. Whilst I adore tradition, there is also something to be said for providing a fresh spin… Read more »

Sweet Shay, you hit it out of the park AGAIN! Rick subbing for Jason! That would be cool and Rick is always promoting his music! Its a win win. I have to say, Jason is doing well as Billy Abbott BUT not as well as I thought. I would rather see them shelve the character after this whole PASSKEY story is over! Billy Miller could return in a year and blow the place up! ANOTHER point we agree on, NO Lucy! She isnt on the show currently and I dont need another wardrobe malfunction. Mudder and Finn could have Lucy… Read more »

@Timmm….I agree it would be so great to see Rick back at the NB, be it as Noah Drake, Eli Love….or himself!!! Any of the three—or combination thereof—would be fine by me! As for my disappointment about the hosting arrangements, yes, I was truly hoping for a more original choice this time around….I simply don’t get the desire for the same old, same old act in that respect when there are other capable options already present on the GH canvas. Lastly, I did reply to your thoughtful post on the previous thread, although not directly to your inbox due to… Read more »

Agreed, guys. I like Lucy Coe, but, I find her a little too neurotic….she gets so excited when speaking, I feel I can’t catch my own breath.
Jason Thompson is a big disappointment for me as Billy A; as much as Billy M is as Jason. He needs to go back to being Jake. That demon-like stare into nothingness, as he was chocking the life out of Nikolas, made him look like a psychopath.
Nah; me no like.

Glad to see Lucy’s back to oversee the Nurses Ball. It’s her baby, it just seems right. She’s helped put Humpty Dumpty together on many occasions in her own inimitable style, along with the inspiration and help of Sabrina, Felix, Laura, and almost Tracy in other years. Even some of Lucy’s predictable mis-calculations lend a kinda of charm for me. Except last year. But we’ve been promised way better this year.

I do love Kimberly’s Robin, but I admit that I get somewhat annoyed with how she just pops in and out. I prefer stories that I can get invested in. With that said, Robin is such an important part of the Nurse’s Ball and it makes sense she would return. 🙂

You know what? I’m ready to let go of Robin. Especially now that there’s no hope she’ll ever return with Patrick. I’m happy they got their happy ending and I’m just as happy to hear about their lives off camera. Anna can reference visiting them from time to time; and Emma can come back for breaks and summers until they rapid age her into being a doctor at GH.

GH Faves Finola Hughes, Ian Buchanan, Brooklyn Rae Silzer, Marc Anthony Samuel In New IGTV Series, ‘Enter Exit’

This week, General Hospital’s Finola Hughes (Anna) and some very good friends and acting partners debuted in a new IGTV series, directed by Hughes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s a thriller! What else would we expect from the woman who plays super spy Anna Devane on the ABC daytime drama series.

The IGTV (Instagam’s longer video application) series is called, Enter Exit, and there are 11 episodes, and the first one dropped on Monday.  It is  written by TV scribe Matt Boren, and also stars some of Port Charles’ longtime favorites that include: Ian Buchanan (Ex-Duke), Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma) and Marc Anthony Samuel (Felix).

Hughes told SOD how she was inspired to come up with the concept for the show:  “I started to think about, if you’re in lockdown, what would be a narrative where you could act in a vacuum, basically? I first started thinking about what my character would be — a retired (government) agent. And then there’s some reason that I’m retired. And I started to think about stationary shots and walking into your closeup and all those kinds of things. I left (the rest) with Matt; it was basically, ‘Whatever he writes, we’ll do.’ And I just sort of concentrated on how, feasibly, we could do it.”’

Boren, who has been an ardent viewer of GH from its hey day, shared on working off Hughes seeds of an idea to what Enter Exit is about: “In a sense, it’s a local detective thriller that starts out small — and understandably so as season one takes place during the pandemic. However, what we seed throughout these first 11 mini-episodes hints at a show that longs to be on a much larger, more global scale. We were absolutely inspired by ’80s GH — the WSB, the espionage and larger than life stories that were so thrilling, and through Devane/Scorpio/Lavery/Donnelly/Jones, so grounded. Throw that in with some Killing Eve, X-Files and (this will make sense down the line) Stranger Things, and you have a recipe that might be pages away in our cookbook.”

Now check out episode 1 below featuring Hughes and Silzer and make sure to follow Finola’s IG account for all-new installments of Enter Exit.

So, what do you think about the concept of the series? Excited to see more? Let us know via the comment section.

Days Of Our Lives

GH’s Maurice Benard and DAYS Kassie DePaiva Named “Power Performances of the Week”

Two daytime vets in two very opposing types of storylines delivered emotional and riveting work during their scenes.  First on General Hospital, Maurice Benard (Sonny) in yet another stellar knockout performance in the Alzheimer’s storyline; showed the anguish and pain of a son trying to come to terms with his father’s ultimate fate.

This week saw Sonny originally deciding to try to prolong Mike’s (Max Gail) life by having him placed on a feeding tube, but soon after seeing the fate of Yvonne, another Alzheimer’s patient, and a talk with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Sonny changed course, and did what’s best for Mike, not for himself, and decided to let his father die with dignity and with as least suffering as possible.

We don’t think there could have been a dry eye in the house when Sonny visited Mike’s hospital bedside, and told him that it’s OK for his dad to let go, and not have to stick around for him.  Max Gail, as per usual, was also so touching in these scenes.

Benard did not overplay a beat, and for anyone who has had a parent die of this dreadful disease, you could relate to what Sonny went through in the more than capable hands of this two-time Daytime Emmy winner.

Over on Days of our Lives, what a return for Kassie DePaiva in her role as Eve Donovan! This time, she has come back unhinged and at an emotional rock bottom, so much so that she had abducted Ben Weston (Rob Scott Wilson), had him taken to an abandoned warehouse, strapped him up, tortured him with an assist from Dr. Rolf’s protege, Vincent (Michael Teh), and came up with this twisted plot to have Ben turn back into the “necktie serial killer” and kill his bride, Ciara (Victoria Konefal).

Why, you say? Well, because Eve’s daughter, Paige was one of Ben’s victims and it has been eating Eve alive this whole time. She is a mama grieving for her daughter so deeply that she can’t understand why Paige is dead and he is left on earth to roam around free and find love and happiness… and we find out she was gutted when Ben got a last-minute reprieve when he was recently sentenced to death by lethal injection.

DePaiva played this arc of Eve’s story as a soapalicious villain, but when you really deconstruct it, Eve is just in so much pain… and all of that came through even in the darkest of scenes.  And … there is yet more to come!

Kudos to Maurice and Kassie for being named Michael Fairman TV’s “Power Performances of the Week”.

So, do you agree with our picks for Maurice and Kassie? What did you think of their work? Comment below.
