Krista Allen on Becoming B&B’s Taylor: “She is a Woman of Great Strength, and That’s What I am Prepared to Bring to the Role”

Photo: KristaAllen

Dr. Taylor Hayes is finally going to be back on The Bold and the Beautiful and on your screens soon, when Krista Allen takes over the part from Hunter Tylo.

As previously announced, Allen (best known to soap fans for her work as a recast Billie Reed on Days of our Lives 1996-1999) will make her B&B debut on the upcoming December 10th episode. She takes over the role from Tylo, who originated the part and played her on and off for decades on the CBS daytime drama series.

Allen spoke with Soap Opera Digest (in their latest issue on newsstands now) about becoming Taylor – all the way from when she stepped into read for the role opposite her on-screen daughter, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), and had ordered a wig off Amazon, and made sure the bangs were cut the right away to emulate the “Taylor”, to watching scenes of Taylor’s last episodes before she left the canvas to prep for taping her first scenes, in order to get caught up on the story and Taylor’s relationships with the other characters.

Being no stranger to being a recast, having successfully accomplished that on Days of our Lives (see above photo of Krista as Salem’s Billie), and loving the fast pace of daytime, Allen revealed she welcomes the challenge on B&B, and knows she is up for it.

However, Krista knows it takes a team to breathe life into a character before hitting the sound stage and taping her scenes.

She told SOD: “There is a relay race that comes into play when creating a character.  You have casting, the production, hair and make-up, wardrobe. It’s like a baton is being passed through the different departments and the final baton is to go in and win the race and that is passed to me. That’s when I walk on set I am Taylor.”

When expressing how she sees Taylor, who many see as a multi-faceted and often-troubled character, Krista confidently expressed: “She is woman of great strength, and that’s what I am prepared to bring to the role.”

So, are you excited to see Krista take on the role of Taylor Hayes? Comment below.

Wondering what the arc will be. Seems there is not much for Taylor to do, but good she can be on canvas for her family. Hope this is not just some short-term stunt perhaps to kill off the character as was done with Beth Logan. I do not want to see more do-si-do with Ridge and Brooke. That endless loop of love should be done now. I wish the Forresters and Logans did something except compliment designs in the office, gossip like eighth graders, or relive past stories/glories. I’d like some real suspense, drama, comedy.

That’s exactly what’s been missing from the show in recent years, which is why I’m thrilled Sheila and Deacon are back on the canvas to shake things up. The show needs a shot in the arm and I’m glad they’re bringing Taylor back, hopefully to redeem her after the awful writing and character assassination that’s happened to her in recent years. Maybe with a new actress they will take Taylor in a new direction and restore the character.

There is actually ALOT for Taylor to do. She was never really held accountable for shooting Bill in the back so I am sure that will be addressed. We know for sure she will do battle with Brooke, so they will mine that history. Steffy and Thomas need her. And lest we forget that Taylor and Sheila haven’t come face to face since Sheila shot Taylor in 2002. There is ALOT for Taylor to do

She was by far my favourite Billie on DAYS. While I loved Hunter Tylo in the role, I’m excited to see Krista’s version.

She’ll do fine as recast Taylor. The character’s absence was glaring. I’m assuming Bell Jr will write for Taylor like there’s no tommorrow…for six months. Then back to the Logan Sisters’ Show. I hope I’m wrong.

I’m looking forward to seeing Taylor back in town. Krista will do a great job.

I hope she becomes diabolical and take down the logans, ridge and bill.

Krista good luck ! He destroyed the character on her knees begging Brooke made us all sick! Good luck!

Personally, I don’t care for her, nor did I like Hunter Tylo in later years. I liked her early on when she was fighting for her family against Brooke. Most of us resent Brooke for most of the damage she did when she was trying to destroy Ridge’s marriage but we forget, it takes two and he was very willing and wishy washy, going back and forth. His brat of a daughter Steffy is no Saint as far as going after someone else’s man, case in point Liam. She made Hope’s life hell and she has the nerve to tell Brooke how bad she’s always been? I don’t like Brooke either but this time it was Sheila and Deacon that caused all the trouble.

Get rid of brook. Enough already with her. It’s Taylor and Ridge. I’m done with this show if Ridge takes Brook back.

Dancing with the Stars

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Might Delay Its Premiere, ‘Veep’ Star Matt Walsh to ‘Pause’ His Involvement as Celebrity Contestant Due to Strikes

More pushback for ABC and Disney+’s, upcoming season premiere of Dancing with the Stars.  Now comes word that ABC may delay its scheduled season 32 debut episode.

After the show was picketed by WGA and SAG-AFTRA members. one of the show’s celebrity contestants is ‘pausing’ his involvement with competing on the show, and that would be Veep star Matt Walsh.

In a statement, Walsh revealed, “I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement.  This morning when I was informed by my union, the WGA, that it is considered struck work I walked out of my rehearsal. I have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA.”

Walsh added, “Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing.”

As previously reported, DWTS falls under SAG-AFTRA’s Network Code contract, which covers talk, variety shows and soap operas and is at play through June 2024. Thus, celebrities taking part in the show, are not in violation of SAG-AFTRA strike rules.

Meanwhile, though an unscripted reality series, Dancing With the Stars is a signatory to the Writers Guild’s minimum basic agreement. DWTS in the the past has employed a WGA writer among its staff of reportedly, 500.  However, given the harsh blowback of participants crossing WGA lines, ABC is now strongly considering delaying its September 26th season premiere of the ballroom dancing/competition series.

So, what do you think of Matt Walsh’s suspending involvement on DWTS? Should the show also pause its premiere till resolution of the WGA strike, at least? The WGA and AMPTP are set to continue talks today on Thursday to hopefully move towards an agreement to end the strike.

Michael Corbett Returns to The Bold and the Beautiful

Viewers of The Bold and the Beautiful knew there would be more to the story of how Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) so easily got off the hook from Judge Evan Scott during her hearing on the CBS soap opera. Now, according to Soap Opera Digest, The Bold and the Beautiful is set to bring back Michael Corbett as Evan Scott.

Corbett, best known for his memorable portrayal of villain David Kimble on The Young and the Restless (1986-1991), last appeared as the Judge presiding over Sheila’s criminal case back on the July 24th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful.
