Kristen Wiig's Emotional Send-Off on the Season Finale of SNL!

If you caught last night’s season finale of Saturday Night Live with host Mick Jagger, you saw a great show which featured the Rolling Stone rocker and funny gal mainstay, Kristen Wiig!  But what many did not know was this was to be Wiig’s last episode of SNL as she is leaving the series after seven years.

Though NBC had made no prior announcement of Kristen’s  departure, it comes as no surprise.  Wigg has starred in and co-wrote the hit comedy Bridesmaids, and even before that had notable roles in Friends With Kids, Paul, Adventureland and Knocked up among other films.  She has six more in various stages of development.

Wigg, whose limitless ability and unbelievable comedic timing and characterizations made her one of the all-time most popular performers in the history of SNL.  In the final segment of the season finale, it was time for Wiig’s emotional farewell which used a graduation premise to send her off in style.   As Arcade Fire played “She’s a Rainbow,” Wiig danced with each of her castmates in turn and tried to hold back tears.   She seemed particularly choked up when Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis cut in.  Finally, SNL leader Lorne Michaels had the last dance, and then the band segued into “Ruby Tuesday.”   Jagger, the band, and the cast sang the wistful tune together, joined by a few SNL vets: Amy Poehler Rachel Dratch and Chris Kattan as Wiig waved goodbye to the studio audience and those at home.

Of note, it has been reported that Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are also expected to not return next season, although no official announcement has been made on that either!   Now after the jump watch the touching final segment with Wiig with her co-stars paying tribute to her and let us know if you will miss her talents on SNL!

I Didn’t catch on at first that Kristen was leaving the show, but it was a great send-off. She is an outstanding actress and probably the best comedian to ever be on SNL. She will be sorely missed, Good luck in Hollywood Kristen. Lookin forward to your new movies…

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to Guest Star on UK Soap EastEnders

Royalty is coming to the long-running Uk soap opera, EastEnders, in time for the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth on the throne.

In a special episode to air on June 2nd, and just before the holiday weekend in the UK for the Platinum Jubilee, Charles, The Prince of Wales, and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will appear in story for a street party scene about the jubilee.

According to Deadline, The royal couple filmed their cameo roles back in March.

EastEnders cast member, Kellie Bright, who plays pub owner Linda Carter, and appears in the key scenes, shared on Charles and Camilla adventure on to the soap: “They didn’t really know what to expect.  I mean, it must have been nerve-wracking for them and completely out of their norm. So I just hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.”

The series EP Chris Crenshaw stated: “It was an extremely special day that will go down in EastEnders‘ history.”

Y&R’s Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland Honored with 40-Year Milestone Celebration (PHOTOS)

This week, The Young and the Restless celebrated the milestone of two of their all-time favorite performers; Daytime Emmy winners Eileen Davidson (Ashley) and Beth Maitland (Traci). The two actresses were honored for their 40th anniversary with the CBS daytime drama series.

Many of the cast, crew and creatives took a time out from production to pay tribute to their castmates and their contributions to the show, and their numerous dramatic and romantic storylines over the years.

 

Speaking at the event were Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) the on-screen brothers to both actresses, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) who had an on-screen romantic relationship with Ashley through the years, and Y&R’s executive producer, Tony Morina, among others.

As The World Turns

As the World Turns Alum Marnie Schulenburg Passes Away at 37

Heartbreaking news to report.  As the World Turns alum, Marnie Schulenburg, has died at the young age of 37-years-old.

Schulenburg had been battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer since 2020.

Soap fans remember her portrayals as Alison Stewart on As the World Turns from 2007-2010 and  as Jo Sullivan on Prospect Park’s reboot of One Life to Live in 2013.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Marnie passed away a few days shy of her 38th birthday.

The Flux Theatre Ensemble, in which Marnie participated and performed in shared their sorrow on Facebook noting: “We’re mourning the loss of Marnie Schulenburg, a beloved member of Flux’s family and an extraordinary actor who performed in and helped develop so many Flux shows, including MARIAN, HEARTS LIKE FISTS, PRETTY THEFT, and ANGEL EATERS. We love you so much, and we will miss you always.”

Marnie is survived by husband Zack Robidas and daughter, Coda, who is just two-years-old.
