Lachlan Buchanan Joins The Cast Of The Young and the Restless As Kyle Abbott!

Courtesy/Twitter
Another Aussie talent comes to CBS Daytime! Actor Lachlan Buchanan, formerly of the hit Australian soap opera Home and Away, and also from ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, has been cast as the new Kyle Abbott on the number one daytime drama, The Young and the Restless! Last year, Australian actress Ashleigh Brewer joined Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful as Ivy Forrester. And of course, Y&R also features the talents of down under’s Daniel Goddard (Cane).
Buchanan told Soap Opera Digest that he will be using an American accent when he bows on the series! Lachlan will begin taping next week on January 27th, and will begin airing on February 25th!
On Twitter this morning with the release of this casting news, Lachlan tweeted: “So excited to start my new adventure with the brilliant team at the Young and Restless”
Lachlan takes on the key role of the son of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) which was last played by Blake Hood, and then Hartley Sawyer.
So excited to hear there is a new Kyle on their way to Genoa City? Looking forward to seeing how Lachlan takes on the role and what happens in story? Comment below!

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

The movie is currently shooting in Chicago and in story, “a cult leader is put on trial after causing his devoted followers to be burned alive. The film is inspired in part by events surrounding the 1993 Waco, Texas, standoff between members of the Branch Davidians church and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, one of the largest civilian firefights ever recorded on American soil.”
MIKE MANNING IS A DAYTIME EMMY NOMINEE
In addition, the multi-talented Manning is a producer on the feature. GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

I wish him luck, that role has been very difficult to caspt I would love to see Kyle with Mariah just to see the heartburn on Summer”s face, I would feel bad for Kevin.
I hope Kyle want Mariah. Ha ha ha that will drive Summer crazier then her mother. Okay nobody is as crazy as Phyllis but Summer will come close. She always wanted her brother who I believe is her brother. Jack needs to take the test. Sharon has no idea if she changed the test. She was off her medication . Im sure Summer is Jacks! 🙂
Good hire. The guy is good looking, and looks like an Abbott.
Im hoping Summer does turn out to be Jacks. Why didn’t he have his own test. Sharon said she was off her medication. Im sure she dreamed of changing the test but it would be unlikely she would be able to know without a medical background. Summer will end up Jacks Im sure of it
Anything would be an improvement over the last one.
Your right, he was too old and looked like an underwear model and not an actor!
Well, they all look like A&F models anymore. Not that that’s a bad thing (as long as they can act, too). But the last one was, shall we say, a little hard on the eyes.
Well, Jonboy, he could have answered the door for The Adams, er, I mean, The Abbott family. “You rang?” (snap!)
I don’t like Summer the way she treated Sharon. Summer should of blamed Nick and her crazy mother for cheating on Jack and Sharon and the lies Nick told all those 18 yrs
I so happy a new Kyle is coming. This will be great. 🙂
This is an opportunity for a redo on this too quickly SORAS’d character and botched story lines for said character. I am glad to see some beefing up of the core families, especially the Abbotts. We have Jack and Ashley. Ashley’s daughter Abby. Jack’s son Kyle. Tracy still comes around but not near enough. Billy and his daughter Katherine. Things seem good. Can someone remind me if Jack’s Vietnamese son Kemo is still alive? I cannot recall. I will again say — as I have on other posts — I would like to see Dina return even for a short-term plot.
Yes, luv. Keemo is still alive…at least, no one has ever said he has died. He just left and no one ever mentioned him again. Cheers! X
Thanks Eden about the Keemo info…like i said im not a regular viewer…usually watch when certain stories or episodes interest me…been that way since the Brookes sisters from the shows early days…few things i recall and it happens to be the one about Keemo…i believe it wasnt a popular storyline, especially with Peter Bergman!!!
I believe Keemo left town with his sister(dont recall her name)…i dont watch often but this part seems familiar to me…
jimh, Keemo’s sister was called Mai (pronounced ‘my’) and their mum was Luan (‘lawn’). Hard to believe it was so long ago! Cheers! X
Hi Iakovos, Yes Kemo is alive but I don’t think the story line went so well so he was said to have left town.
Yes I would love to see Dina Mergeron (the Abbott matriarch) interacting with Joanna Manning (The Fenmore matriarch) and tacky Gloria along with Jill. That foursome would be a hoot written properly. I’d love Dina to challenge Jill for the Chancellor Estate by some fluke.
Heck throw Nikki in there and make up for that awful baking show nonsense by having them be approached to do a reality style The Real Women of Genoa City..that’d be a great comedic storyline for all of them. Especially with scowling Victor eventually banning Nikki and the cameras from Newman Enterprises…LOL..
Keemo not so much. That was just such a weird story. No where near as good as Tom and Margo Hughes lovin’ it up at home and he opens the door to lien..his unknown illegitimate Korean daughter…boy Doug Marland could craft a story…and it gave us the actress Ming Na..who I still enjoy just because she was lien Hughes.
God bless Doug Marland! He was a gift to us. Loved ATWT when he wrote it.
At first glance he looks too young to be Kyle. Maybe he’ll look older on the show.
He looks like lil sweetie pie..
I would expect Kyle to look older and more sophisticated, a businessman type..
He looks too young to be with Jabot, maybe he will skateboard to work lol ..
I wonder what he will do ?
Good to have a recast Kyle back to inject some badly needed excitement into Summer and Austin’s snoozefest of a relationship.
Summer and Austin don’t even have sex LOL ..
No one in Y&R has sex worthy of mention..
Y&R is sexless ..
GH has hot lusty sex heeehaaa! ..
Patrick and Sam were nakid on top of each other and Julian and Alexis melt the camera, so much heat..
Y&R nada … lol
So to even expect that new Kyle will liven up Summer and Austin, not gonna happen .. 🙂
For the Austin character’s sake, he better be getting some off camera. If not, they have pills for that kind of problem!
lol the poor guy..
young ones as them can’t get enough sex, guys i Austins age are very virile and Summer and Austin come off as brother and sister not a young couple..
go figure..
Y&R couples are very bland boring, they just are..
Maybe Pratt will give them working hormones..
Y&R has sex su0000. Why just a few days ago we saw 60 yr old Jack Abbott naked in bed w/a blindfold & roses, and Kelly and Phyllis in lingerie…well, it was almost sex. We wanted to see Jack naked, right? No..lol
Billy Miller’s Billy Abbott had sex w/every woman in GC. And we saw all of the love scenes. This fake Billy has had sex a few times, but he’s disgusting.
Apparently Paul & Cricket are having sex since they’ve made a baby and Neil keeps bragging about practicing for a baby because it makes sense to drag your sighted wife down w/a baby when she already has to take care of his blind ass.
Devon and Hilary have sex scenes.
Not sure how old the new cutie is, but I never, ever want to see Summer having sex with anyone. EVER.
Su, you should have your own column: “Sex and Soaps According to su0000″…LOL
I must say, though….you are right….. The thrill is gone from Y&R…but, Julian’s and Olivia’s play date was a lot steamier that A’s and J’s. Later.
Oh YIPPI another Cane!!!I guess only time will tell if he works out so Good luck mate. I don’t know why we couldn’t get Blake Hood who was a great Kyle Abbott a real player like Jack use to be Playboy. Another one that would have been really good but taken Chad Duell who plays Michael Corinthos on General hospital.
Okay am I’m crazy but doesn’t this guy look a little like Summer’s present husband Austin? It some ways if he did, it might explain Summer’s instant attraction to Austin which never made sense, unless now he looked like her lost love Kyle— I’m glad they are casting more in keeping with the original look of Kyle— looking forward to Kyle’s return–
I never understood why they recast Kyle with Hartley Sawyer. I thought Blake Hood did really well in the role, he looked, acted and spoke like a younger version of Jack. It didn’t make sense to me that they chose to recast with such a bland, monotone and creepy looking guy who couldn’t act to save his life. Hartley Sawyer was wildly miscast IMO, if they really wanted to bring him on, he could have played a dark bad-guy kind of role instead.
Anyway, I’m happy Kyle is coming back but I kind of hoped Tom Pelphrey would take over the role, I think he would have made a good Kyle. Regardless, I’m looking forward to his return and hopefully this actor can pull it off. I hope his American accent is convincing enough.
I hope this doesn’t mean more screen time for whiny Summer!!!
LOl
sorry to have to tell you..
Having Kyle back will give sniveling Summer a whole lot of upfront in your face time..
I’m ok with it.. always can FF ..
Great, I’m doing a whole lot of FF now lol.
Summer already has her finger in everyone’s pie. That girl seems to be attached to every character and every story.
That would be okay if the character was remotely interesting but she’s about as interesting as a margarine sandwich on white bread.
He looks like he could play Fennmore also.
I wish the young man luck. Now onto the casting department. What the HELL were you thinking?
A. No american actors available? No ex cancelled soap stars available?
B. So Kyle has gotten younger since he has been off the show. What is this “Benjamin Button?”
C. Lastly, He looks NOTHING like Jack Abbot!
Excellent choice compare to the worst recast of the Kyle! Excited about this developing into something special.
I think he looks like Kevin.
Loved Blake Hood in the role, but wish this new actor luck.
Hope he is good!
I liked Blake Hood a lot. But like Blake, this guy is attractive and looks like an Abbott.
I hope Pratt can tell a good next generation story featuring Kyle and Noah. Both SHOULD be front and center where the young set is concerned.
We’ll see if he can act!
Congrats to the guy with two last names!
We love the new character, “Kyle” on Young and Restless. Hope this one works out!
