Coming up on Days of our Lives, both Lani and Eli Grant will be written off the canvas to facilitate the departures of Lamon Archey (Eli) and Sal Stowers (Lani).

According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, Archey who stepped into the role in 2017, has made the decision to leave the long-running NBC soap opera, and will last air the week of July 4.

As for Stowers, she will last air on Friday, July 1st, and given her current storyline, it looks like Lani, who has confessed to murdering TJ (William Christian), will either be sent to prison, or will exit Salem with Eli.

This would not be the first-time that Stowers has departed DAYS.  After her debut in 2015, she was off the Salem canvas for a six-month break in 2016, before returning to the show through 2022.

We will share more information on Lamon and Sal’s exits as it comes to light.

For now, how do you feel about Lamon and Sal leaving Days of our Lives? Comment below.

Boring characters and boring actors
Bye

Days has too many characters anyways

For representation put Melanie Trask on more and have her in Justin’s orbit since Adrienne’s look alike is so silly ; and bring back her little sister and JJ as her love interest again!

Best case cast is bloated anyway

She wasn’t her sister. They were Mom and daughter. I would like Paige to be alive and JJ discovers her. That could bring back her mom, Eve.

Which is the best reason for Paige to NEVER come back. If Eve Donovan ever returns to Salem, it had better be the REAL Eve and not that horrible abomination seen in recent years. Nothing against Paige herself… though it was completely ridiculous how she got drafted into the Hernandez family AFTER she was dead.

BBWOS
Funny thing this came up. These two you mentioned just got engaged in real life.

I did see that.I wish them well.

BBWOS
JJ and Paige, can’t think of real names, just got engaged in real life.

Sorry about the double post but it gets done twice snnometimes or not at all. We got some yesterday from years ago mixed in , what the heck is going on?

Casey Moss (JJ) & True O’Brien (Paige)

Not true. The actor who plays JJ is already married stupid

Now there’s no need for that sort of rudeness…. especially when you are WRONG.

https://michaelfairmantv.com/days-alums-casey-moss-and-true-obrien-engaged/2022/06/11/

Yes—and, speaking of all the sister/mother mix-up/confusion, Julie is Hope’s sister. …not her daughter. So, why do Sean and Ciera keep calling her “grandma”?

They have addressed that…even on air. It is about respect. Julie was always Hope’s mother figure due to the gap in their ages. Ciara has always said she felt Julie was more of a grandmother to her than an aunt. In the chaotic lunacy that DAYS is, I think this is a pretty realistic inside family kind of thing.

Makes sense. Thank you for expanding❤️

Celia, I’ve missed you. I need your review of the Emmys. How about all that cleavage on display? Is there a fabric shortage in Hollywood? Are you okay with the winners?

Ok—so, my dear,Soaphound —-this is my third reply to you—-while I receive the notification that my comments were approved, in my inbox, I don’t see said comments posted.
I am using my sister’s phone right now—-perhaps there’s a glitch with both my phone and iPad.
I have been too busy with grading exams and I did not even get a chance to watch the awards. I’ve just begun catching up the other day.
I am very much vested in GH right now. Willow is enceinte !! —-As I said weeks ago, Willow will somehow need a transfusion. Enter Nina—-at this point, the baby or Mommy may be in trouble—-bloodwork will tell us more.
I hope Carly gets hers!! ❤️

Sean and Ciera call Julie grandma because Julie married Hope’s dad Doug. Yes, Hope and Julie are step sister and step mother/daughter.

Hi, Crystal–thank you for replying—
Hope and Julie are half sisters. Their mother was Addie Horton-Olson, daughter of Tom and Alice Horton. She had a daughter, Julie Olson. My grandmother has been watching since the soap’s inception. I don’t know if Addie was divorced or widowed—-Doug married Addie and had Hope. Ergo, Julie and Hope are not step-sisters. They share(d) the same mother. They are blood-related.
I know it’s a soap, but I find it kind of gross—sleeping with one’s stepfather—That’s what Julie did—
JJ explained it best—I guess I missed the part where Julie wanted to be called, “grandma” because of the big age gap.

This is going way back to the early 70s, so my aging Devil brain is a little fuzzy…. but I think Julie was actually in love with Doug first, but then her mom, Addie moved in on Doug and took him for herself (a bit scandalous for early 70s TV, probably, but they got away with it)

So Hope was born to Doug & Addie a little while after that. Unfortunately, Addie was hit by a car while crossing the street and died on impact, though she did push the stroller with Baby Hope safely out of the road before she was hit.

Eventually Julie was the one who helped Doug through his grief and ended up being stepmother to her own little sister. I don’t think Hope ever called Julie “mom”… but Hope’s kids have always called her “grandma”

That wasn’t the biggest scandal in Horton family relations though…. it pales in comparison to the time where Marie Horton fell in love with some guy… only to find out later that he was her brother, Tommy Horton Jr. – who had disppeared long before and was believed to have been killed in action in the Korean war. That experience traumatized poor Marie so much that she ran off to become a nun! And the Hortons weren’t even Catholic at that time!

Tom Jr. was never heard from again either, but a recast would be pointless, as he would be well into his 90s now, if he’s alive at all.

Thank you for that, you gorgeous devil, you!!
Yes, I know all about Marie, the nun—from my grandmother’s not-so-clean, unforgiving , Scottish mouth!! She still thinks Julie is a you-know-what. She told me Julie was not a good “egg”?, back in the day.
–off to my niece’s “The Little Mermaid” play. (Community Theater—so proud!!) She made it!!!!!
Ciao❤️

Julie and Hope are 1/2 sisters since they share the same mother’s blood.

Doug is Hope’s father, Julie is the stepmom.

Julie may be Hope’s ‘stepmom’, but she is firstly her sister. As I said above, they had the same mother, who was a Horton.

Because she is married to their grandfather, Doug who is Hope’s father

LOL–that’s ok, Debbie—you missed the point. The fact remains that Hope and Julie came from the same womb. They are blood sisters. They were sisters way before Doug married Julie!! Read the above posts.
Thanks, anyway.

This makes them 1/2 sisters as they are related through their mother’s blood. They aren’t really step-sisters.

?? –‘Twas not I who said they were step-sisters. You’re preaching to the choir, Jewels. I said they are half-sisters. I think you have me mistaken for someone else.
Ciao.

It’s one thing to not like the characters but why make it personal by calling them boring actors? Also, bringing back Trask is a good idea but what does that have to to do with Lani and Eli’s departure?

Kristen accidentally killed Melinda’s sister/daughter.

Exactly, Lou—-when first on the scene, we were not aware of any relationship between the two. As I recall, we were led to believe that she and Trask were sister—-it was later revealed that they were actually mother and daughter. Typical soap fare.

Damien
Right! According to another source Ben Wilson will return as an altogether new character, can’t wait!

Whose little sister?

Please bring back Eli. His character is so awesome. He and Lani lived interested and compelling lives together.

These damn idiots are interrupting Days again,I am so sick and tired of NBC crap.Lester Holt doenst know when to shut up.He has to go to one reporter after another.Just when Chad was about to tell his kids that Abby wont be there anymore.I hope they fire that clown,He may not care about Days but we do.Now these two are leaving the show there wont be anybody left. What gives?I cannot believe this crap he is still talking.Another show I am going to miss.

You can watch any missed shows the next day on Peacock. That’s what I did.

Unfortunately I don’t have Peacock.Did u see Chad tell his kids that there mother has died? I would have cried.Enough of NBC interrupting our show.

Simply Lisa
I can’t stand the SLs being shown now and skip most of the shows, so Iam really anxious to see Beyond Salem, chapter Two

You can always watch it on demand. But he hasn’t told them yet. Relax

Then I guess I didnt miss a thing then.

Clara,
Has he ever told them, if so I never saw it. Thought maybe it was just off screen when Jenifer asked Chad yesterday.

He apparently told them off camera. I’m guessing they weren’t sure about the child actors being able to play out that kind of scene.

This is very sad news! I love Sal Stowers and enjoy Lamon Archey. The article isn’t saying that Sal wanted to depart, so they are sending her off to the slammer?!?! This a legacy couple in the making and what, the first black couple to (recently) wed on DAYS… ever? If it were up to me, I would recast Eli as this character fits so well into the Horton family dynamic, as David and Val’s son… and not have had Lani shoot her bio “dad”. Her Dad is Abe!!!
What a mistake DAYS did to take the storyline in that direction. Who is going to raise the twins… Linda Dano as Vivian? LOL.
DAYS needs to reconsider letting go of talented black cast members, keep Sal Stopover and recast Eli. Simple. I’m very disappointed to hear this news. What will Julie say, if Eli moves away from Salem and Lani is in the slammer… it’s her grandchildren… Hortons!

I agree. They are a legacy couple in the making, and Eli is my favorite. Plus they are the first black couple. I can’t believe they are leaving. I thought it was so cool seeing a black couple on this show. And I’m a white boy who has a beautiful man of color who is not only my best friend but the love of my life. Lets have some more color on Days. Glad Abe is still there. Still remember seeing him so young on this show when I was in my tweens in the early 80s.

That’s a huge loss to DAYS’ canvas.

Not much left of the PD. How about stupid Clyde putting Abigail’s bracelet on Nancy. she is so stupid and naive about Clyde. Victor was in rare form today and she just brushed him off like he’d make all that up about Clyde. Can’t wait until she finds out he’s really a criminal. Serves her right that she didn’t get him checked out.

Great loss, talented pair. Hopefully, they will soon be back as it is great to see is stable, loving, African American couple on television. I hope in the interim Days can introduce Eli’s half siblings. Julie needs more grandchildren to terrorize and butt in their business and Valerie on screen is always a plus. Love to see her reaction to Abe and Paulina.

PS: Clyde knows exactly what he is doing. He knows Leo stole the jewels and he is setting Leo up to go to jail and play hero. HE also intends to keep most of the loot.

the other lis
While I like your theory about Clyde Iam not sure how that will work. Clyde is the one in possession of the jewels and E.J saw him with a package. I guess Clyde is using dumb, gullible Nancy but he is the one that she’ll tell that gave her the bracelet, not Leo, who Iam sure Clyde will kill off soon.

Clyde told her about his past and she decided to give him a chance.

Jensen
He minimalized his past to say the least.

Jensen
What he told her was just a minimal amount and she never asked for specifics, the dummy!

I was watching the other day and thought I don’t like Lamon Archey. That being said, I like Eli. IDK
But, once again, Ron Carlivati writes horrible stories and deletes any character he can no longer write for. I read an article where he said Tripp was now in a corner the character couldn’t get out of. YEAH BECAUSE YOU WROTE HIM THERE.
When will Ken Corday get it through his head to get rid of Carlivati??
p.s. Sal Stowers did an amazing job as Lani.

They both should stay they are beautiful together

I don’t think Lonnie should be sent to jail for killing her father he got what he deserved tried to kill her husband he was getting ready to hurt her mother when she came in so it was a justifiable shoot by a police officer

I agree

Lauren
It would have been if it was played right but she lied and withheld what really happened.

I will miss them both. I didn’t think the story line was boring.

I never liked Lani, good riddance.

It’s ridiculous that they are leaving! They have brought alot to Days. It was bad enough Marci Miller left but now your letting 2 other good people leave. Take Jan Spears out of the picture! So sick of her crap!enough already!

All the good ones are leaving. I’ve been a longtime fan but I think now is the time I quit watching.

Sad to see them go.

I hate they are leaving, days doesn’t have enough diversity

Days doesn’t have enough diversity on the show

i love eli and loni. sorry to see them go

I am heart broken they are leaving . I just scenes with the two of them . I am going to miss them so much and hope one day they will return

So hate that those two are leaving! They will be missed. It seems everyone good, leaves. Love them ❤️❤️

I do not like. I know Archey has been on All American.

I hate it to see anyone leave the show because when you start watching this it’s like I make them my family I guess that really sounds crazy but that’s how I feel js

Huge loss to Days. Unbelievable.

I am sad to see Eli and lani leave dool. They are a lovely couple and great actors and I think they have added a lot to the show. Why are they leaving? Don’t like their roles any more or what?

I hope they bring them both back with the twins, they are such an important part of this story and have so much more to contribute.

Hate it!!!!

This totally stinks. The remaining characters are in their eighties, except for a few. Doesn’t make for a hot storyline. Gotta bring Claire, and Ann back big time. Come on DAYS!!!!

YOU TAKE THEM OFF JUST AS YOU MAKE A NEW FAMILY HER MOM AND DAD . STOP THIS (SICK MESS BETTER THE TWINS AND CHANNEL). NO ONE IS THAT GOOD. IT’S VERY DISTASTEFUL. LEAVE IT UP TO DAYS OF OUR LIVES. THE DEVILS STORY LINE AGAIN. WAS TOO MUCH. ATLEAST IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO COME UP WITH BETTER STORYLINES. MAYBE IT TIME TO LEAVE THE AIR. I WATCH SINCE I WAS (HIGH SCHOOL). I AM NOW A SENIOR. THIS LOVE ❤️ TRIANGLE BETWEEN TWO GIRLS AND A IS A BIT MUCH. NO ONE CAN BE HAPPY FOR A WHILE. THIS (ERIC BRADY), YOU JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH HIM. YOU COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB WITH ABIGAIL AND CHAD.

I hate that they are leaving the show!!

I love both of them on the show, I’m so sad to hear that they are leaving. It seems like all the good ones leave the show and it’s so frustrating

I think the couple was good for the soap. If they want to leave and it’s better opportunity, we understand.
What I don’t get, a few years ago, when Hope killed Stephano, she was not prosecuted so harshly being head of the force.
Murder is murder, what’s the deal?

Sad. Sad about Trip too. And Abigail

It’s sad and I loved them both , they are great on the show and would love to see them back.

I have a lot of respect for the actors but found Lani to be so boring. I liked Eli but it was not good storytelling for most of the time they were on until the end. I would find myself fast forwarding when they were home sitting on the couch and just talking about nothing through the years.

We already have limited African American storylines that are positive and now this? What next ?? No African American storylines ??

I’m sad loni and Eli are leaving Thay will be missta.

So tired of seeing favorites leave……done

I dont know why they were leaving Then Ben and Ciara are leaving to.What is going on with this show? Why is everyone leaving? I am not happy at all with Ben leaving. Why is Qwen even here?

I love Lonnie ans Eli and I am devastated they left.. godspeed to you both.

They were terrific and so real. What a shame these great actors leave the show

I can do w/o Eli’s hairy chest, always being stubby when it was growing back from a wax, lol. But, Lani,I’ve loved since America’s Next Top Model.I’ll really miss her. She,really, blossomed into a great actress,as Tira told her she,one day, would.

I don’t like that things became so fictional. Returns and changes due to the devil and a mad scientist. We, the fans hang tough throughout the fiasco. The get a bomb dropped on us,that in order to continue watching we have to pay for Peacock premium . Not cool,at all!

Rosie O’Donnell Says She Will Return to ‘The View’ During its Season 30

Published

By

Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell revealed that she plans to head back to a seat at the table of ABC’s morning talk show The View.

The announcement came during Monday’s episode of The Tangle Podcast where she shared she will participate in “in whatever way they want” her or “just as a guest” for its upcoming 30th season.

The View’s season 30 will kick-off this fall in September. O’Donnell explained, “They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think. And, you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics.”

Photo: ABC

ROSIE ON HER PREVIOUS GO-ROUNDS ON THE VIEW

As fans of The View know, O’Donnell famously had two different one-year stints on the talk show in 2007 and again in 2014- 2015. She often feuded with then co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

However, during her discussion with host, Kyle Ridley on The Tangle Podcast, O’Donnell also noted she often had tense moments with longtime moderator and anchor, Whoopi Goldberg.

O’Donnell also expressed, “Many, many people got the short end of the stick there. It was, you know, it was a factory where people were being churned in and out and their tenuous security, nobody got to be calm. It also was a show at the time that was run by a man. A show created by a woman, for women, about women, and the man was deciding what we should talk about. And that didn’t sit right with me, you know.”

Back in 2023, Brooke Shields had asked Rosie on her podcast, Now What? with Brooke Shields, about how she felt on her two stints at The View and all the controversy that surrounded it. Rosie at that time, stated, “I know this, it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness. It was not something I’d ever do again.”

You can check out the clip with Rosie and Kyle Ridley discussing her return to The View in some form for its upcoming 30th season below.

Then weigh-in: Would you be excited to see Rosie, even for a one-day or a week guest stint on the upcoming celebratory season of The View, or not so much? Let us know via the comment section.

Television Academy and NATAS Open Reunification Talks After Split Almost 50 Years Ago

Published

on

By

Emmys

In what could prove to be a massive shake-up ahead, both the TV Academy (ATAS), who presides over the Primetime Emmys, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), who preside over the Daytime Emmys, are in exploratory reunification discussions to merge the two organizations into one.

Both sides received an overwhelming vote and support from their boards to evaluate what a unified Academy could look like. However there is no formal calendar at this juncture for the discussions. In addition, because of the ongoing unification talks that should occur, the TV Academy board has voted to extend all current sitting Governors’ terms by one year so they can see the process through.

Boards at both organizations voted overwhelmingly to evaluate what a unified Academy could make possible: a strong vision for the Academy’s future, more effective thought leadership for the industry, broader service and support for members coast-to-coast, and new momentum and opportunities across the full complement of national Emmy competitions.

Photos: ATAS/NATAS

AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS, CAN THE EMMYS BE UNDER ONE BANNER?

In a joint statement, ATAS and NATAS shared, “Television remains the most powerful medium we have to shape culture and prompt conversations that define us—no matter the size of the screen, With the business of television undergoing such a monumental transformation, this is the right moment to explore a reunification of our Academies, providing our members and our industry with a bolder voice advocating for them and a stronger partner to navigate the future with them.”

If the reunification talks continue, this would be the first time since the two Emmy organizations split back on June 30, 1977 that they have tried to come together, all of this after almost three decades of often uneasy and strained tension between the two.

The most recent joint change came in 2022 when a move of the game show categories went from NATAS to ATAS’ and now are in the Primetime Emmys.

Deadline notes that a unification of the two television academies who overall preside over nighttime and daytime programming would be similar how SAG and AFTRA used to represent performers from completely different dayparts of work.

Could the Daytime Emmys finally see some love in primetime and have their major categories televised as part of the annual kudofest every September? Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place live on Monday, September 14th starting at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT and air on NBC and stream on Peacock emanating from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. While, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on Friday, October 30, time to be announced, live from the Hollywood Palladium and will be streamed on watchtheemmys.tv

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is a service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Awards for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime and Children’s & Family programming, as well as achievements in television Technology & Engineering.

The Television Academy (ATAS) strives to shape and advance the dynamic television landscape; cultivate a diverse, inclusive and accessible professional community; and advocate for the television industry while capturing the spirit of a new generation of content creators and industry professionals. Through innovative programs, publications and events, the Academy and its Foundation foster and empower storytellers. The Academy also celebrates those who excel in the industry recognizing their achievements through awards and accolades, including the renowned Emmy Award. Membership in the Academy is open to working professionals in the television industry.

So, would you like to see the Primetime Emmy and the Daytime Emmys fold into one show if the two unions reached a unification arrangement? Do you hope that after almost 50 years, the two organizations can finally make some serious headway? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
