Is this good compared to how OWN was previously doing during the daytime? I’m no expert on ratings, but these numbers look decent to me. One thing that strikes me as odd is how large the AMC numbers are at 1:30, which if I’m not mistaken is a repeat of the episode shown at 1:00.
Those numbers are excellent considering the episodes are re-runs ..
(all ready viewed by millions, so to get that many watching re-runs, is very good..
Are these ratings better, worse or the same compared to what used to air in that time slot…just curious! Is it enough to keep them showing repeats in the future? I think they should air them between noon and 1pm, and then again in the evening for those who cant watch in the daytime. I still think the shows would do better on a more popular cable child like TVGN or Lifetime!
I believe they should remain on OWN…i just felt theyd have more of an audience on a different cable network…is what i meant to say but now i feel OWN could help save the genre after all and just maybe more new soaps will be on the way.
To the naysayers, I say HAHA! This genre is here to stay!
oprah was one of those naysayers.
Oprah was NOT one of those naysayers. I am SICK of this revisionist history. Oprah said she did not believe it was possible to make a dime from soaps. Given the way in which they were being produced, she was right. That’s why they were cancelled by ABC. They were too expensive. THEN PP came up with a NEW BUSINESS MODEL. If you recall, it took them OVER A YEAR to figure out how to do it. Oprah was not against AURING soaps, she just didn’t have the $200,000+ an episode to PRODUCE them.
Let’s keep one foot inside reality and look at what Oprah ACTUALLY said and WHY she said it, instead of rewriting facts so we can feel like we’re smarter than Oprah. The MOMENT it appeared that the shows could be successful on TV, without her taking on production costs, SHE PUT THEM ON and left it to us to watch or not watch.
I am no Oprah fan, but this ridiculous gloating everyone is doing has nothing to do with what actually happened.
Exactly.
While it’s true Oprah said that the soaps couldnt make money the way they were being produced and she didn’t have the resources or know-how to try and revive them, fair enuff.
BUT Oprah also said ‘there is a time an season for everything’, I’m paraphrasing. Oprah went on to say how the soap fans were simply not there to support the genre anymore. Oprah pretty much said that the soaps time had come, when we’ve shown her and the rest of the world, the fans are very much here.
So I believe it was CORRECT to say Oprah was a naysayer, because she agreed the genre was dead, when in fact it was not.
Yep, AJ is correct.
Why does it matter. These soap need a network.Plain and simple.Remember Nielsen ratings is saying soaps are dying.ABC canelled them not Oprah.I still watch GH everyday on ABC just to back my soaps.Nothing but GH to on ABC.Not making them any money anyway except for the soap genre. So I turn on Oprah everyday just for the my soaps.I’m backing my soaps and praying they get a network for the cast to be able to make a good enough salary to stick around and they don’t fade off to a seasonal web series. This is what these actors have worked for.Dreams of them back on a network.Remember its for our soaps.Oprah will make one way or another. We may not.the actors will find better jobs sooner or later…
Whoo hoo we are doing OLTL & AMC fans. I am not sure what the numbers represent is good or bad but to me it looks darn good. I see OWN picking up our favorite soaps soon for good.
The numbers for both shows are trending upwards and both are on the cusp of 200k for the first run airings.
For those interested in how well each episode is doing with all the individual airings added together, here’s my “Adjusted Ratings Chart”. When the total airings of each episode are added together in this manner, these may not represent unique viewers as some of them may have watched a particular episode more than once but they still all represent viewers that were tuned in to the station during a broadcast and saw the ads shown during each one:
AMC:
Episode 5 (repeat): 42,000 viewers (one airing) (Total: 201,000/four airings)
Episode 6 (repeat): 147,000 viewers (two airings) (Total: 347,000/four airings)
Episode 7: 536,000 viewers (five airings)
Episode 8: 476,000 viewers (five airings)
Episode 9: 303,000 viewers (four airings)
Episode 10: 306,000 viewers (three airings)
OLTL:
Episode 5 (repeat): 92,000 viewers (one airing) (Total: 363,000/four airings)
Episode 6 (repeat): 100,000 viewers (two airings) (Total: 294,000/four airings)
Episode 7: 332,000 viewers (five airings)
Episode 8: 363,000 viewers (five airings)
Episode 9: 406,000 viewers (four airings)
Episode 10: 273,000 viewers (three airings)
I watched them!
Excellent news! But I’m not sure why this comment: “with One Life to Live actually scoring higher on their first run episodes than AMC on the Wednesday and Thursdays airings!” is necessary. Both shows are doing well. Why turn it into a competition?
you are right, we need both shows to do well!
Yea!! hope our soaps keep doing good.. AMC.. OLTL.. Thank You ..OWN..
I watch on Hulu – usually from work during my lunch break on an iPad – a nice break mid-day from the office. One person at a time caught my little “me time” during lunch. Over the past few weeks, the break room table has been getting full watching. Soon we will need to use the conference room with a laptop on the big screen because too many people are crammed around the iPad. My Mom (79 yrs) is home all day and watching from OWN.
I paying HULU $7.99 for Super Monday once a month & rest of the week, it’s MORE. If this continues I am canceling HULU. I don’t watch any other of the shows except AMC & OLTL. Put in on cable like Own,so I could watch like I do with the other soaps like The Young & Restless, Bold & the Beautiful, General Hospital, & Days of My Life. I’m retired & am on a budget, I have cable & that is an expense without adding a few dollars here & there for only getting 2 episodes once a week First it 4 episodes & 1 MORE, then 2 episodes each, now it’s 1 on that so called Super Monday. I’m really upset.
It’s free on regular Hulu why are u paying any $?
On my Apple IPad , which my children bought me 2 years ago i’m unable to only get Hulu.com only clips not the full episodes. My computer does not work properly, so I guess I out of luck
You do not have to pay 7.99 a month to watch the soaps, HuLu is FREE to all !!
People pay 7.99 a month to be able to watch the soaps on their mobile phones and iPads etc..
You can watch the soaps FREE on you computer ..
Cancel your subscription, you do not need it, and watch for FREE on PC..
The reason is PP needs a network to be able to maake enough profit to make them bigger and better. Its really important. This what they have been working for to get better pay.We are the ones to gain and the cast and crew..
They are not down to just one episode on Mondays….is that what you mean? They call is Super Monday because they release two new episodes of each show and the More shows all at the same time on Mondays.
I see AMC is out weighing OLTL….not good BUT people ARE on vacation’s now.
I don’t think OWN is promoting well or is it?
PP and Own both need to run ads on soap channel for all the people who do not have internet that have no clue they are back on…
If you’re talking about Soapnet…that channel’s days are numbered…
I wish Soap Net would air the shows. For now, I watch them on Hulu. I don’t support egomaniacs, so I don’t watch own.
Soap net is going off the air any day now lol
I have been watching AMC and OLTL since they started on Hulu and I am fine to still watch this online. This has turned out to be a little down-time just for me. 🙂
Does anyone actually know, or has anyone actually met a Nielsen viewer?? I would be fascinated to actually meet one for real.
Funny you should say that .I used to say the same until I was just picked to be a Nielsen viewer in early July. It was before Oprah picked up the soaps but there was a space for comments so I added that I would be watching the soaps on Oprah.
One Life To Live get back to “more of the original feel” by episode 36, in my opionion.. and now it is on fire ! Will watch for another 40 years !
I watch on Hulu – but am enjoying the reruns on OWN. Hopeful they will be picked up full time for all those who can’t watch online yet…
I watch OLTL every Monday on Hulu Plus. I also think that the show is getting better every week. I loved the Clint and Viki scenes this week. Clint was so sad… I have been putting the “new” OLTL episode on OWN on my DVR every day and then watching it later. I have also been checking out OWN. I had been boycotting OWN previously, but I will watch it as long as OLTL is being shown on it.
I have watched OLTL since its first episode and will continue to watch it until the end !! Just love those guys at Prospect Park for believing in the fans and the soaps to keep these two going.
I would jump around and scream like a crazy person if they started airing episodes from the 80’s and 90’s. OMG that would be AWESOME. And I’m willing to bet good money that the ratings would sky rocket if they aired those. As for Oprah- eh, I can live without her. “/
Guess my original comment about Oprah and OWN have not been printed. Too bad, they were so true. She is horrid and I wouldn’t sign on to anything w/her name or anything about her. Put it on OWN and bye bye AMC – for me anyway. Never watched her on TV, rejoiced in her departure and will rejoice when she takes a final departure!

Mark Consuelos Mourns the Loss of His Father
Saul Consuelos, the father of All My Children alum and Live with Kelly and Mark co-host, Mark Consuelos (ex0-Mateo, AMC), has died. During an emotional moment on this mornings, April 6 edition of the syndicated talk show, Mark shared, that his dad, “passed away peacefully” back on March 23 following a long illness.
His wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) paid tribute to her her father-in-law expressing, he was, “the greatest person I’ve ever known. I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”
Kelly and Mark’s children, Joaquin, Michael and Lola Consuelos are said to be taking this extremely hard. Ripa added, “This is the first loss they’ve ever experienced in their lives. And I said, ‘By the time I was 8, I had no grandparents. You got to grow up (with grandparents). You got to have deep, meaningful conversations (with them).”

In another moment, Mark reflected on his dad. “It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad … if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch. There were a lot of lectures, a lot of lectures and I learned so much. If he was fixing something in the house, he’d make me watch and do it. And I didn’t know at the time why he was doing that. But now at the house, I’m able to do at least half of the stuff that he did. I learned the most by just watching him.”
Mark added that Saul Consuelos came to the U.S. from Mexico in his early teens and served our county for decades, detailing, he “Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid. He loved his country so much, If you’re going to put a face to an immigrant, he would be the prime example of what this country promises people.”
In a very heart-tugging moment, Consuelos shared that now its important they be there for his mother, Camilla. “We gotta take care of mom. We’re trying to convince my mom to move to New York. She’s such a character, she’s stubborn. What do you think, a cooking segment here on Fridays with Camilla?”
Now below, watch the very touching and emotional moments as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa mourn the loss of Saul Consuelos.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Visits ‘The View’ Where Hosts Sidestep Controversial ‘Buffy’ Reboot Axing, But Talk ‘All My Children’
On yesterday’s March 17 episode of The View, All My Children alum, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), was the special guest. Since Monday, Gellar has been the subject of a hot-button issue since about the surprising turn of events that the highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, in which she stars, and which was directed in the pilot by Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao, was no longer moving forward.
Gellar‘s appearance on the ABC morning talk show was devoid of any mention of Hulu cancelling its planned Buffy: New Sunnydale, in which Sarah was set to appear along with Ryan Kiera Armstrong. However, Gellar did discuss her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come from Searchlight Pictures.
It should be noted that both Hulu and Searchlight Pictures are owned by The Walt Disney Company, while The View is produced by ABC News, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Company.

During the awkward interview, when it became clear the ‘Buffy’ reboot topic was off the table, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, talked about the “intense fight scenes” that have become a staple of her TV and film career starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scream 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The ladies of The View also brought up Sarah’s beginnings on All My Children as Kendall Hart (1993-1995), showing a scene with her and her on-screen mother, the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. The discussion sprung out of another All My Children alum, Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) winning the Oscar this past Sunday for Best Actor for his role in Sinners. The View’s Joy Behar was quick to point out with Gellar, the All My Children alums that have gone on to great fame.

Photo: ABC
Previously on Monday, Gellar opened up to PEOPLE about being blindsided before while at the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. “I got the call as we were stepping onto stage for the premiere of their own movie. And it’s also the weekend of Chloé going to the Oscars as a best director nominee for Hamnet. For them to call us on the Friday of what should have been Chloé’s victory lap for an incredible film, and my world premiere of something that I worked very hard for is… that says something.”
She went to say, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.” Deadline reports that “multiple sources” identified the executive as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich.
“I loved the duality that we had with this new, younger slayer who was where Buffy was when the show started, and then we would pick up with where Buffy was now,” Gellar told People about the setup. However, according also to Deadline “After the pilot was completed and delivered, according to multiple sources, Hulu’s main note was that it played too young, with some indicating that the streamer also felt the show was too “small.”’
In the rewrite, sources also told the outlet that the writers did not take big enough swings, so they set out to do a rewrite it again. The last revision was more adult, featuring a lot more of Gellar’s Buffy, and was described as a more of a streaming show than a network one. When all is said and done there is hope that another Buffy IP will be up and running within the next couple of years.
You can check out Sarah Michelle Gellar’s full segment on The View below. Now let us know, bummed there is no Buffy reboot? What do you think about how this high profile Hollywood saga was side-stepped on the morning show? Did you love Sarah as the original Kendall Hart on All My Children?
