Linsey Godfrey Joins The Cast Of Days of our Lives
Guess who’s coming to Salem? Former B&B star, Linsey Godfrey (Ex-Caroline) has been cast in the role of Sarah Horton on NBC’s Days of our Lives.
According to Soap Opera Digest who broke the news, Linsey first reported to the DAYS set back in May, which means she will first be seen on-air in the role of Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) daughter come fall.
As to the back-story on Sarah: she is the daughter of Maggie and the late Mickey Horton. However, Sarah was conceived by artificial insemination, since Maggie wanted a child and Mickey was sterile.
For quite some time, the couple thought Evan Wyland (Lane Davies) was the donor, but it turned out to be Dr. Neil Curtis (Joe Gallison), who switched the samples and was fond of Maggie.
The last time Sarah was seen on air was 1991 when she was last played by Alli Brown. In story, Sarah had left Salem for Nashville.
So, glad to know Sarah Horton is coming back to the canvas of DAYS? Excited to see Linsey in her new soap role? Comment below! And be sure to wish Linsey a very Happy Birthday today, too!
FAN-TASTIC news!!! I always pegged her for joining Days of Our Lives, but ultimately I did see her in the role of Stephanie Johnson. Or, even as a potential Abigail recast. But, now, I think her being cast in the role of Sarah Horton sounds fantastic. I know fans have been asking for Sarah’s return for years, and in 2010, the character was said to have been in Salem for Alice’s funeral. Now, it looks like she’s going to be stirring it up!! Cannot wait to see where Ron Carlivati and his regime take her; The Bold and the Beautiful wasted her in her last 2-3 years on the soap. Now, she can be used in proper ways!
Well its about damn time!! Lmao!! With every casting announcment for a female in the past ten years, Viewers suspected it would be Sarah! I think Godfrey is a little young! She was three years old in real life in 1991 when the character left the show as an adult!! I think at this point viewers would accept anyone to play Sarah including Mia Korf!! Lol!! Melissa Archer would have been perfect!! She was wasted on a clunker character and a senseless storyline! It will be nice to have Maggie with her own child again. I hope she has remained a nice character with no deadly drama following her around. Sarah would really be more contemporary with Hope and Jenn age wise, but soap ages are fluid and flexible to say the least! Maybe she will have gotten an anti-aging treatment from Rolph. Lol….no keep her out of the sci fi stories!!! Glad to have the character back!!!
Sarah Horton and Sarah Webber…two characters I see requests for around the web all. the. time. I’m glad TPTB finally listened about the Horton. Marie Wilson should have been cast as her, not that horrible other character I don’t even remember the name of. Welcome to Salem Linsey!
Summer
Please dont pair her with Brady…but what happened to Xander-maybe with him?…or will she set her eyes on Justin?…Meanwhile what happened to posters Patrick and 4everdays-miss their comments!!!….and is Neil still haunting a wing at the hospital-he went to check on patients and was never seen again!!!
Xander’s return was temporary, and only to rush the return of Jen Lilley’s Theresa. And I don’t see a pairing with Brady. I likely see a pairing with Eric Brady.
Eric would be interesting
Sorry, but who is/was Neil on Days?
Sarah is supposed to be linked with Eric, not Brady. Plus Brady will have his hands full with Eve along with Nicole returning for a short visit. And Jennifer will be linked back up with Jack.
My bad, I see who Neil is now.
Wow great news, she is a terrific actress.
Days please bring back Vivian, I miss my madam. Ivan her sidekick needs to return with Vivian.
Given that Louise Sorel is an east coast resident, I don’t foresee her moving to the west coast for the role. I’m pretty sure that’s why her duration was a 3-4 month engagement.
Sarah Horton should have been back long ago, but I’m not sure they hired the right actress for the part.
Linsey is 30 years old (her 30th b-day is today, in fact) and was born in 1988. That makes her 6 years too young to have been hatched from one of Maggie’s now infamous eggs.
The age difference might not have been notable if not for two things…..
1) As mentioned above, the character last left Salem in 1991 and was at that point a fully SORASed adult, rather than the 9 year old she should have been.
2) Then there’s the most ridiculous rewrite in the history of Salem, where chronic air hog Dr. Daniel Jonas was said to be hatched from the exact same batch of eggs (despite being in his early 50’s with a 20 something daughter and about 666 other tears in the space/time continuum required to make the story plausible.)
Maybe she’s not Sarah at all, more like a MelEggNie recast?? Or a Stephanie Johnson recast would be a good fit.
They missed their obvious chance for a Sarah Horton recast (who should have been a redhead like Maggie) when Melissa Archer was brought in a few years back. Instead they wasted that opportunity on a throwaway character who ended up on the wrong end of one of Ben’s neckties.
People keep saying that Melissa Archer would’ve been a good Sarah Horton, but I do believe people are simply saying this because she’s a red head like Suzanne Rogers. Honestly, Ms. Archer is not the strongest actress, and Linsey Godfrey is one helluva actress.
Her casting is perfect. As for the de-SORAS, I don’t get why people are complaining about it. It fits her into a more current age bracket of characters, and opens up the door for her beyond a limited supply of story opportunities. Yes, I would’ve preferred her as Stephanie Johnson, a casting decision I’ve been campaigning for, but I think she’s going to be brilliant as Sarah!
melissa Archer should had been Sarah but i guess they want someone younger..the last.Mike Horton came back younger…Valerie came back younger!!!…Valerie should be in her 60s’
It’s true they backtracked Mike Horton’s age a little bit when he suddenly got blonde hair (and was considerably shorter, for some reason). But he probably ended up being the age he should have been in the first place.
With Sarah Horton it’s harder to justify playing around with the age, since her birth was tied to the whole medical procedure which (as I said above) was a brand new thing in reality at the time, let alone for daytime TV. And then of course they already screwed that all up because they had to give the airhog Eggman an instant family.
BTW, they never did say who Daniel’s father actually was. Ironically he DID bear a slight resemblance to Neil Curtis. So that would make him and Sarah some sort of “twins”…. same batch of eggs, same batch of swimmers, but came out of different wombs.
As far as Valerie… I don’t think they have said what age she’s supposed to be now. She could be in her early 60s. It’s not like any of the grandmothers in Salem actually LOOK like grandmas, right?? Ironic that Kayla mentioned the other day that she had a previous relationship with David Banning back in the day (which I had completely forgotten about) but presumably that would make her & Valerie about the same age.
The aging thing isnt as bad as when Edge Of Night recast the role of Nicole Drake who was in her forties…when the new younger actress was cast as Nicole just a short time later Nicole was suddenly in her twenties!!!
Isn’t Daniel’s son the man who raised him? They just got Maggie’s egg.
They never really said one way or the other. All that was said was that Victor Kiriakis (who wasn’t even in Salem until the mid 80s) somehow stole Maggie’s egg, smuggled it back to Greece, and implanted into the woman who Eggman thought was his mommy.
So either he got a fertilized embryo from the same petri dish that produced Sarah (which would make Neil Curtis Daniel’s father) or he took an unfertilized egg to another lab in Greece and added swimmers from old man Jonas (or whatever his name was). What seems unlikely to me was that if Victor had access to a medical facility in Greece which could have pulled this off way back when, that they also didn’t have a local source of egg donors. Acquiring an egg from the other side of the planet doesn’t make any practical sense whatsoever. But then, nothing much about the contrived existence of Daniel & Melanie ever really did make sense, right?
That Neil was doing a lot of stuff he shouldn’t!
I hope this means more airtime for Maggie.
I liked Linsey on B&B so I look forward to seeing her on Days.
Glad TPTB listened to fans saying to bring back Sarah Horton. However, I’m sad that Melissa Archer wasn’t cast as Sarah as me and so many others have been asking for.
I’m happy Linsey Godfrey is on Days. I was hoping she was a different character that is romantically linked with Eric, but I’ll give her a shot as Sarah!
Am thinking it might be too soon to bring back Melissa Archer. Pretty sure she was with Eric, when she became the first victim of “the necktie killer”.
I was happy when I first read this, but then I thought oh no she’s way too young. She was a teen with Carrie Brady in the early 90s, Carrie is in her forties now. If she left Salem 27 years ago, that means she left town when she was only 3! Come on writers, why couldn’t she be the new Stephanie instead? It would be good if Sarah was paired with Eric, as they were both born in the early to mid 80s. I hate when they do this. Perhaps Max Brady who was also de-aged when the very handsome Darin Brookes played him could be paired with her(although they are cousins in B&B), Days has had many pairings who are practically cousins.
