Luke to Tracy on Yesterday's GH: "Oh Tracy, Sadly One Life to Live Isn't On Anymore!"

If you were quick enough to pick up another “Carlivati” special on yesterday’s episode of General Hospital, you noticed that during a scene between Luke (Anthony Geary) and Tracy (Jane Eliot), over how Tracy will get ELQ back with the help of  “Pickled Lila,  she grabbed for the television remote in the Quartermaine living room.

When Tracy pressed it to surf the channels, Luke said, “Oh Tracy, sadly One Life to Live isn’t on anymore.”  To which Tracy responded, that she wasn’t looking for that, but for the financial channel to check ELQ stock prices.  Of course, Tracy did not get far, as when she turned on the TV, Luke learned that Anna had been held at gunpoint earlier in the day by vampire slayer, Lucy.

When we heard Luke calling out the cancellation of One Life to Live, we couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear, that leave it to the current GH regime, they are still paying homage to the beloved soaps and its fans, and the fact that it the series is gone from the ABC Daytime landscape.

If you missed yesterday’s episode, you can watch it here via ABC.com and check out around the 15:15 minute mark for the exchange between Tracy and Luke.

Did you notice Luke’s nod to One Life to Live?  Let us know your thoughts!

I called in on GH comment line and suggested that they offer Prospect Park free product placement for use of their characters to come back to GH…With the shout out about OLTL, I am thinking that ABC will be doing this.I suggested that The younger people talk about OLTL and being able to watch it online and see them watching it on their ipad, etc..

That is a great idea Carrie!!

Adorbs!

I missed that Michael , Do you have the clip of it ? 🙂

loved it. i enjoy those little things. i wished Luke said it louder so ABC heard it too. Frank and Ron better get an emmy for their work here, or somethings wrong. other shows could learn from them.

Since ABC is part owner of Hulu, maybe it it ABC that wants the crossovers. If more people watch PROSPECT PARK’S OLTL, they might also tune in to GH. No one is saying yet what exactly is happening to the characters.

I saw it and was kind of shocked! I couldn’t imagine why Luke would say it and why they would write it in. Just thought it was odd.

Had PP gotten all their ducks in a row in February 2012, FV/RC would be writing STILL for OLTL. It was when PP deal fell thru that ABC picked them up as producer and writer. They both get kudos for having OLTL as ABC #1 soap when it went off the air, so I’m sure they still believe OLTL is still partially their baby!

FV & RC were hired by GH long before the end of OLTL. How do you know they would have hired FV & RC? why would they want them they suck and you gh fans will fins that out soon enough!!

Loved it! Love how GH and OLTL are blending and sharing the best of both worlds. Keeping the craft alive….awesome! 🙂

I agree. Do you remember back in the day when they did cross-overs? They did it all the time………IT WAS GREAT! I can see Anna hot on the trail for an escaped Lucy heading for Llanview after Caleb, and Anna finding out that there have been mysterious deaths where the cause of death was “loss of blood” and there’s only 2 puncture wounds. Somehow, John is allowed bail and he is also heading for Llanview behind Anna…………..Oh, could be oh so good.

I love when RC treats us with his ”mentions” .. He has never forgotten ‘his’ OLTL ..
When I heard Luke say, “Oh Tracy, sadly One Life to Live isn’t on anymore.” that gave me my first chuckle of the day .. 🙂

Yes, I caught it, but was surprised Tracy comeback was about that she wasn’t looking for OLTL, and that if she was, she would have be grabbing her laptop since it was moving online !

Now that was be a great way to cross promote the shows in my opinion.

I caught it too lol. Yeah it’s not on TV anymore it’s on Hulu and Hulu Plus! Watch out Port Charles because Llanview is coming back!

Actually, since OLTL happens in the universe of GH, Luke should have told Tracy that Fraternity Row was no longer on the air – but that might have been too inside.

that’s what i was thinking. In the General Hospital universe, Llanview is a real town with real people, three of which currently live in Port Charles. He should have said Fraternity Row was no longer on the air, to be more realistic. But i suspect this was a subtle dig at ABC for cancelling OLTL. I remember one episode of OLTL in the final months, Blair sang the 1980’s theme song and then at the end she pointed out how sad it was.

Oh I caught it alright! Do you think abc will run any ads for AMC & OLTL once they launch online?

Prospect Park will have to pay for the ads but if they are smart they will do just that. They should buy advertising time during all four remaining soaps and maybe the View.

caught it….loved it

doesn’t it seem like it’s “Pickled Lila” that is the “missing” shares of ELQ?

I’m going to burst in to tears, when Tracy… realizes just how loved and as the last remaining sibling of Edward and Lila…. she is.

Loved it!

Caught it, loved it, rewound & played it again! Love the cross overs. Even way back when all the shows were on the air, someone from Llanview would mention Pine Valley or vice versa. But yeah, loved Luke saying that.

I caught it replayed it and then taped it on my iPhone and emailed it out to my sisters who used to watch theses shows in the 80’s.

I thought it was rather clever and funny! I still want Todd, John and Star to stay on GH, but I will check out OLTL out of curiosity… Just not sure I will stick with it….

I had the same grin and loved the way the shout-out was so seamlessly worked into the script! Kudos!

That’s cool that they did that!

Also Maxie referred to Britt as “Dr. Evil” aka David Hayward

Had to rewind my DVR to see if I heard it correct! I did and I loved it! I think most of us fans will always enjoy those little nods…

Yes, absolutely loved the nod to OLTL.

Product placement for PP on GH is a great idea, but I still don’t know that I will pay to watch the PP shows online. This may well be the way future shows are made available to viewers, not via television but as online subscriptions.

Product placement is a great idea.. Desperate house wives did it with Nissan cars.. I will def pay to see oltl on Hulu

yes. caught it and loved it. I am really enjoying the crossovers. my daughter and I love Starr on GH and that she is with Michael (though we were sad about Cole and Hope). I like Todd there too and was hoping he would reunite with Blair on GH. while here, I am LOVING all the returning loved characters. Frisco!!?? WOW. Heather, Felicia, Lucy, KEVIN!!, Laura, Robert, Holly, Anna, DUKE!!, AJ!!, Ned. The gang’s all here! Whose left? Scotty, Bobbie, Tiffany,, Sean. and I would love to see Ned, Lois & BrookeLynn together at the same time. One of the reasons I enjoyed GH in the 80s were all the power couples and how they were all friends and fought the bad guy together not each other. So sad Alan is gone.

of your list…. the one that took me by surprise…. and i didn’t expect it.

when Frisco walked in to the bar… and said hello to Felicia….

it was like going back in time…. the instant chemistry was there…. the way Felicia responded was priceless…. i was startled and stunned by the electricity, between these two.

—————-

and all this time… i was rooting for Mac and Felicia.

—————-

further in to the story…. Frisco tells Felicia he wants her back… and Felicia’s telling Frisco…. she wanted a reconcilliation with Maxie much sooner than it happened and told Frisco to not give up…. and with time…..??????

——————-

A new tryst and/or triangle…. with the past STARs… I was genuinely impressed.

oh, and another thing…

Ned and Lois.

Hot, Hot, Hot.

they’re on my wish list.

Royalty.

I read that it’s going to be free and the shows will only be 1/2 hour shows

I heard it! I even backed it up to hear it again! Had to laugh! I thought maybe that was a good adlib by Tony Geary.

I did the and thought the same thing!

Bravo! Thank you to the genius who tipped his hat to the greatest soap ever. Class act General Hospital!

Better listen up,Abc..we want OLTO back on tv 🙂

That was good , I miss One life to live shame it is going to internet

I heard Luck loud and clear and I loved it!!

Luke! Sorry, spell ck changed it

This show has just gotten stupid since the idiots from OLTL took over.

I normally like the little comments like when Todd said something about America not needing another daytime talk show, however I didn’t like this, considering that we have crossover characters and Llanview is often referred to as a real place they shouldn’t have mentioned OLTL.

Writers Strike Comes to an End; Leadership Votes To Conclude Work Stoppage

It’s over! After 148 days, the 2023 Writers strike will go down as the second longest in WGA union history, only a labor stoppage in 1988 was longer.

The strike will officially come to end on Wednesday at 12:01am PT.  This was due to a vote from the guild’s leadership that now has authorized its over 11,500 members to return to work.

That means: pitching and selling scripts, taking meetings, responding to notes, writers’ rooms opening up again, and more, can now restart.

The WGA committee shared that the vote, “Allows writers to return to work during the ratification process, but does not affect the membership’s right to make a final determination on contract approval.” However, WGA East and West voted unanimously to lift the “restraining order” on Tuesday.

As the negotiators shared, the end of the strike doesn’t mean that the tentative agreement that the union reached with producers on Sunday night is a surefire thing: Union members still need to vote to ratify the contract. Union leadership announced on Tuesday that will take place between October 2nd and October 9th.

However, SAG-AFTRA still remains on strike. So, even with the writers returning to work, many productions can’t move forward without their principal actors and performers.

So soap fans, how do you feel about this news for your favorite shows? Glad that the head writers and their writing teams will be back at work as soon as this week from Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful? Y&R’s Josh Griffith, who previously had gone Fi-Core during the 2008 strike, remained at the top rated show during the last several months.

WGA and AMPTP Reach Tentative Deal to End Writers Strike

Looks like we are close, very close, to the writing teams at your favorite soap operas returning to their jobs with news on Sunday that finally the WGA and AMPTP have reached a tentative deal. What remains is the fine print, and having the WGA vote to ratify their contracts.

This is welcome news to the television, streaming and motion picture industry that after five months of a strike has put the 2023-2024 TV season in deep water.

In a statement, the Writers Guild shared, “We have reached a tentative agreement on a new 2023 MBA (Minimum Basic Agreement), which is to say an agreement in principle on all deal points, subject to drafting final contract language. We can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional — with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership.”

As the deal goes through its final stages, the writers are still technically on strike, but picketing outside studios and shows has now been suspended.

Among the writers’ demands that they fought for are: higher residuals from streaming shows, minimum staff sizes to prevent the use of “mini rooms” and protections from the use of AI.  The hope within the entertainment industry is that the new deal for the WGA will move along a new contract for SAG-AFTRA (actors) with the AMPTP.  As of Monday, SAG-AFTRA is still on strike.

Photo: JPI

As for your favorite soap operas, during the strikes, the shows were written by non-union writers or “fi-core” writers who gave up their union benefits in order to continue working.

The next steps in process will see the WGA negotiating committee vote on “whether to recommend the agreement and send it on to the WGAW Board and WGAE Council for approval,” tentatively scheduled for Tuesday.  Another vote by the board and council could lift the strike “restraining order”and allow scribes to “return to work during the ratification vote”.

So, are you happy to know that the writing teams from your favorite soaps are about to return to work and helm the scripts and the vision of the shows? Comment below.

General Hospital Alum Richard Simmons ‘Not Interested’ In Biopic with Pauly Shore Portraying Him

Former General Hospital guest star and fitness guru, the reclusive Richard Simmons, has come forward and addressed actor and comedian, Pauly Shore’s wish to play the 70’s and 80’s pop culture icon in a biopic about his life.

Shore previously took to social media and on X shared a side-by-side of him and Simmons. Accompanying the post, Pauly expressed: I’ve noticed the reactions to me playing #RichardSimmons in a biopic. I heard he’s living in Big Bear. We’ve been playing phone tag (yes, he has a phone). I’m trying to make it happen, you guys. In the meantime, hit up all the big producers. I’ll see you at @TheAcademy 2025!”

However, TMZ’s sources are reporting on Saturday that Simmons is not in favor of Shore playing him in a film or anyone else, or any biopic on his life.

The outlet shared that Richard’s reaction was that he was aware of the effort behind a biopic, mostly spear-headed by Pauly. but that he just doesn’t want to be involved. Simmons also added that he likes Pauly a lot, but he’s not biting, despite the public’s urging on social media about the idea of a movie on his life.

Photo: ABC

Born Milton Teagle “Richard” Simmons, he became part of the public conscious back in the 70’s and 80’s with exercise studios and the ability to help his clients lose weight; many of them were celebrities. Simmons himself, admitted to at one time to being overweight, and getting into fitness helped him maintain a healthy living style and he wanted to help others.

Later, he began a four-year recurring run on General Hospital playing himself from 1979-1983.  Simmons returned to the show in 2013 for the Nurses’ Ball to taunt Lucy (Lynn Herring). He also was host of the Emmy-award winning, The Richard Simmons Show, which focused on personal health, fitness, exercise, and healthy cooking.  Over the last several years, Simmons has withdrawn from public life.

What would you think of a Richard Simmons biopic and if it included some moments in front of the camera and behind the scenes of what went down when he appeared on GH? Do you think it will ever happen given Simmons current position on the matter? Let us know in the comment section.
