Julia Barr To Return For Prospect Park's All My Children!

Courtesy/ABC

Everyone has been asking for Julia Barr! And now it appears from news today via Jordi Vilasuso’s (Griffin, AMC) Paos Revolution Twitter feed that Julia and her role of the beloved Brooke English are coming home to Pine Valley Online!

According to the Tweet it stated:  “We are thrilled to share that not only will fans see @Susan_Lucci at the start of the #AMC relaunch but also David Canary and Julia Barr!”

Now while no official announcement has been made from Prospect Park on Lucci, Canary and Barr, it would make sense for Barr to be a part of the reboot of AMC, since she is based on the east coast, and with the news that Canary is said to be appearing on the series in an ongoing basis! But will Julia just be around to kick off the series? Or, will it be more long-term?

So soapers, happy with the news of Julia coming to AMC?  Let us know!

The news keeps getting better and better. Hope she stays. We need someone there with ties to the Tyler family. We missed you Julia. Speaking of the Tylers, whatever happened to former Tyler chauffer Benny Sago and the two actors that played him?

I saw the last Benny playing a waiter on HOME IMPROVEMENT……of course that was quite a while ago…..haven’t seen him since. Maybe he would be available……but then we would need THE DUTCHESS! LOL!

I miss the late Ruth Warrick as Phoebe and would like to see Julia as Brooke take her place and move in the old Tyler mansion with or without Adam. Like it David Canary is returning for some episodes.

I’m in!

Yay, love her!!!

Huge!

HUGE!!!

HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!

This is a wish come true for me! I’ve been a Brooke fan since I first started watching the show in the mid 70’s. Julia is a class act! So happy to hear the news.

I think they will be more like ”appearances” and not term contracted..
It just seems sorta too good for PP to get them back when they did retire by the end of AMC..
I hope they will be contracted but ……………..
Have to wait for the details ..

They didn’t ‘retire.’ They came back for a shortened time due to PP ironically. Julia was ready to stay full time back in 2010. David only left because he objected to the locale not the work. His ‘retirement’ was his nice way of bowing out of having to stay in LA which he’s never liked. Has worked pretty steadily since his ‘retirement’ when he quit AMC done in LA.

So happy that Brooke will be on AMC. I hope it’s for the long haul. Now, if we can get MEK back as Tad, that would make my year!

She is great, love her in the role of Brooke…but I just have this strange feeling that they are using these big names to initially attract viewers, and then head towards a more teen oriented show. I hope not, but that’s my gut feeling – I want Brooke to have her own storyline, not just make a “guest appearance” in Pine Valley. I mean, I guess we should be grateful, never thought this would even be a reality. I think those of us who are a little older will always remember the glory days of “All My Children” but I am still happy that the show will be back in SOME kind of way.

Those “glory days” you’re referring to are storylines involving teen-oriented love stories. Even Julia Barr came on as a troubled teenager. Other teenagers with great storylines — Greg, Jenny, Liza, Angie, Jesse, Nina, Tara, Phllip, Chuck — and, of course, Erica Kane.

Would “Dallas” be a great re-boot if the focus was on an 80-something JR and his aging brother and ex-wife? The focus is on the children of those icons. Agnes Nixon is overseeing her baby — I’m giving her a chance.

I wonder, what, Nina Cordtlandt… is up to these days…..

wouldn’t it be something… to see Nina… PC and Daisys’ daughter… mixing in after all these years… with Brooke…. adam… and Opal… for the Adults…

Dallas does not focus on teens. I am enjoying Dallas. It’s young actors are in their 30’s. JR is what made Dallas famous. He was never a teenager.

Hear! Hear! 🙂

ITA, I think going the teen route goes back to the AMC of the 70’s and 80’s and even Peyton Place returned years later as the next generation.

I understand Johnny’s concern above about “luring” us old fans with veteran actors and then phasing them out to a teen-oriented soap. I will paraphrase what I read from the ultimate soap fan on Facebook: we need to be grateful that it’s coming back at all! So many seasoned AMC performers are returning to give this venture their blessing. Let’s enjoy that! And the fact that Prospect Park wants Brooke back says a lot for them! I love Julia Barr and Brooke, but she was underused and then cast aside for a long while. This sounds like Agnes Nixon is wielding her influence. I have missed the core characters this past two years, and I am excited to see them again. If the show focuses on good, character-driven stories, then I will continue to watch, even as the focus shifts onto other actors. If Prospect Park wants to cause an historic shift in the way fans watch their soaps, then it behooves them to keep the quality high!

I’m OVER THE MOON. Brooke and Adam are my ALL TIME favorite couple EVER! In ANY medium. I’ve been waiting and waiting lo these many years to have the wrong righted of their reunion getting squashed back in 1989 and the worse garbage thrown at them by hacks that hated Julia or didn’t get they’re a super couple.

I want to see that Julia is ON FULL TIME CONTRACT and if the show starts from 5 yrs after their engagement I’m going to need to see some serious wedding flashbacks. I waited to damned long for them to become man and wife again. I want the ceremony and the words.

YIPPEEEE!! My babies are coming home!!!!

I’m happy for you.

A strong, confident, alluring… no holds barred Woman. That’s our Brooke.

LOL… can’t you hear her…. “Aunt Phoebe”.

as much as she belongs with Adam….

I loved her with Tom Cudahy.
she was just as good with Mark… Erica’s brother….

———————-

Brooke belongs on top.

no more second fiddling to Erica.

HHHUUUGGGEEE “Coupe”.

Thank you Julia Barr…

Simply Love you, Brooke English

—————–

AMC is back on TRACK.

i am thrilled. Her character is smart, interesting, and more needed for storylines than erica. Erica is over t he top. I don’t think we need her esp. on a day to day basis. I hope Julia/ Brooke will be on contract and have lots of screen time.

Can it be so? Will we see our beloved Pine Valley citizen’s? You must get Michael Knight. I miss my Thaddeus Martin, it’s true. Keep the good news coming!

Oh yes! I love Tad and with Dixie back, it seems only natural that Tad would follow. {keep our fingers crossed!}

MeK said his schedule doesn’t allow him to join the reboot…yet. But he believes Tad will return to Pine Valley at some point…hoping!

Julia Barr is a major talent, and when she left AMC back in 2006 she made it clear that she was leaving because of the poor quality of the writing and the lackluster direction, or lack thereof, for her character. She’s got a full life outside of AMC, so I see her return, recurring or even more long-term, as a strong vote of confidence in the direction PP is taking the relaunch.

GREAT NEWS!

It keeps getting better and better. I think we have to be patient and in time more will return. We have to continue to show our support once it is launched. Soap fans have worked too hard to not have this succeed.

I agree with Scary Mary!! The show just would not be complete without Tad!

thrilled! i love JB!

Great news! I hope she, Tad, Dixie, Stuart, and Adam can all come back full time!

Hey Mitchell. That’s A Good Point. Nobody would want to Watch An 80 Year Old Man even if It is JR Ewing or Larry Hagman. Also, First, there was Erica and Adam Chandler. Then, there was Bianca and JR. Now, They will have Miranda and AJ. That is why It is Called All My Children. There was Mona who had Erica. Erica had Bianca. Bianca had Miranda. Adam had JR and JR had AJ. Jody

Love Julia, love Brooke, can’t wait to see her and other AMC characters in my beloved Pine Valley. I have fought for its return so I will be a loyal viewer once again no matter what age group is focused on. The teens have always been at the forefront of AMC– it was only when that was not the case (the last few years) that it got away from its roots (All My CHILDREN, get it?). I watched religiously from day one in 1970 and I’ll watch religiously from its second “day one”.

yippee!

I am so overjoyed with this news! I only wish that my partner of 20 years had lived to see this. Oh how she loved AMC as I have since it came on in 1970.

I am VERY glad to hear that Brooke will be back in Pine Valley! I am looking forward to the triumphant return of All My Children (and OLTL). I expect there to be ‘growing pains’ and things won’t be perfect – but the show will live on. I will watch, always. 🙂 THANK YOU AGNES!!!! (and PP too)

WOW!!!!!! That is great news Julia is coming on board also. Loved her character as Brooke. And if anyone could put Adam in his place it was Brooke. Thanks Prospect Park. I am counting the days until I see my beloved AMC back on. Was having serious with drawel symptoms since it went off the air. Watching all the re-runs every night to get my fix.

Best news so far!

Billy Miller Memorial Scholarship Endowment Created at His Alma Mater to Help Others ‘Realize Their Dreams’

Two months since three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor, Billy Miller passed away, the beloved All My Children (ex-Richie), General Hospital (ex-Jason/Drew) and The Young and the Restless (ex-Billy) star, will now have a permanent scholarship endowment in his honor at the University of Texas at Austin which was Miller’s alma mater.

Through the scholarship, it will be able to help radio/television and film undergraduate students with financial need. Billy’s family and friends have established this permanent scholarship in his memory, naming it the William Jon Miller II “Billy Miller” Memorial Scholarship. They hope the endowment will be a legacy to his life and love of acting.

Before becoming soap-famous, Billy graduated from the the university’s department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) at the Moody College of Communication. On its official website, they shared the news of this special memorial scholarship and how Miller died at the age of 43 after surrendering his life to bipolar depression, which he struggled with his whole life.

Megan Hubbell, Billy’s sister, expressed, “We want something positive to be held in his name in perpetuity through the University he loved. He would be honored to know that even in death, he can help someone else realize their dreams.”

She added how she hoped her immensely talented brother will be remembered: “I hope BJ (as Billy was known by to his friends and family) is remembered for the kind-hearted, silly, funny, goofy, generous, beautiful soul that he was His megawatt smile, deep belly laugh and gorgeous mug were gifts on screen, but his true self was a bright light that will be carried with us forever.”

Photo: JPI

According to Miller’s family, Billy had his picks of schools and UT was his first choice. When he first came to the university, Billy started in the zoology program before switching to radio-television-film, where he felt he belonged. Miller was one of just 20 students at the time accepted into the department’s prestigious production-sequence program.

“BJ was extremely proud to be a Texas Longhorn and always remembered his time there fondly,” Hubbell said. “The time he spent at UT allowed him the space to explore who he wanted to be and what he wanted to accomplish.”

Photo: JPI

In honoring her brother’s work and strength to persevere in the often heartbreaking world of entertainment, Megan related: “I always admired the guts it took to go after a dream in Hollywood that so many people tried to discourage. He heard, ‘You’ll never make it’ more times than I care to count, but he used those comments as fuel and said, ‘Watch me.’”

Miller’s roles went far beyond those on daytime soap operas, as throughout his career he played major parts in primetime’s Suits, Ray Donovan and Castle to name but a few.

In his death, Billy’s family is encouraging people to take stock of their own mental health. “BJ would want anyone struggling with intrusive thoughts to seek professional help,” Hubbell said. “Do not suffer in silence or try to muscle through on your own. Mental health is vitally important and shouldn’t be spoken about in silos behind closed doors but rather in open forums with open arms. Shame has no place in the discussion to seek help.”

As is tradition with “Live’s Halloween” episodes, they are always filled with costume and pop culture moments and special guest surprises. Ripa and Consuelos were right in step with the biggest social media love story at the moment; that of Swift and her burgeoning romance with Kansas City Chiefs Tight End, Travis Kelce.

During Halloween week which started on Monday, October 30, Live was up up 11% versus the week prior in total viewers, and averaged 2.6 million viewers throughout the week.  Year-over-year, the talk show was up that week by 15% in terms of total viewers.  It looks like the former All My Children’s alum on-screen chemistry is just as palpable as it off-screen; as the two marrieds are making quite a successful run together on morning television.
