Yesterday, after much speculation, his exit was confirmed by an ABC rep who also let viewers know they would last see Coloma in the role at the end of January 2023.
Coloma took to his Instagram and expressed these thoughts along with special ‘thank you’s’ to the GH fans: “It’s hard to even say it. I get so sad when I think about it. Look, I don’t know what I can or can’t say other than what an incredible ride. There is such a family feel at General Hospital, which I felt so blessed to be a part of. And I’ve said this a million times … the fans are the best fans in the entire world. And I think a lot of that is just because you guys have been watching for such a long time. So, thank you for including me, thanks for the love, happy holidays. You guys, Maurice (Bernard) said he’s gonna change his number on me but I know where he lives. I know where Kin Shriner lives. We’re still gonna film things. Much love.”
Watch Coloma’s heartfelt video message below, along with his adorable dog in tow.

God Bless You, Marcus. It may not seem right now, but always know!!!
Life is a journey! You had a great 3 year ride at GH. Now you are on to another adventure!! I pray that your struggles will be less as you land your next job! Which you will!!!!
I loved you in the lifetime movies. I hope we will see you in more of those and other things in primetime.
Best wishes to him.
Is there any truth to the rumor that he refused to film his final scenes?
I’m a casual viewer of GH and even I can’t imagine this. I don’t know what to say. Good Luck with his future endeavors.
You came in as a recast of a beloved character which is extremely difficult. But you ran with it! I think you did a fabulous job and won us over. You played out Nikolas doing bad things while still making us love him. A man with layers and shading. I wish you great success in future endeavors!!
am so tired of them replacing all these characters, the new ones is not so talented. They need to keep Nikolas as Nikolas. Marcus Coloma should stay.
Seems like every two minutes some one is leaving and being replaced hard to keep up with the characters takes the enjoyment out of the show most definitely for myself and my family you were the best soap opera in my opinion but now that the characters keep getting switched out so much I’m not sure I care to watch anymore. It’s too bad cuz I felt you were the best!
