‘Days of Our Lives’ Favorites Making Returns: Alison Sweeney, Christie Clark, Chandler Massey and Bryan Dattilo

Great news for Days of Our Lives fans, now that Ryan Quan is co-head writer of the long-running soap opera. Coming in June of 2027 (since DAYS tapes ten or so months ahead), you can look forward to the returns of Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton).
The foursome is back on set and began last week to tape their upcoming story arc, according to TV Insider. As to what exactly is going on that brings sister Sami and Carrie’s history back up, as well as Will and Lucas’ is only being teased at this time, but suffice to say, it should be intriguing.
Alison Sweeney explained on being back on set, “It was a lot of dialogue and emotion, but with all the best actors to work opposite, we fell into it as if no time had passed. It was really wonderful.”

As to working with the longstanding rivalry of Sami and Carrie, Alison added on working with Clark, “So, it really does feel like we’re sisters. It’s so fun, and she’s such a good actor that she makes everything so natural that you can really disappear into those stories.”
JUST LIKE OLD TIMES
It also seems like the deep-history, which often had the sister fighting for the love of Austin Reed, but that might not figure into the equation this time, or will it?
Alison indicated what she thought of the scripts she was given. “I felt like when I read it, it was a page-turner. I was very excited. There’s a lot of history here, and a lot of things that haven’t been said. So, it’s really not like, ‘Oh, rehashing stuff.’ And now having played some of the scenes, I’m psyched.” Sweeney added, as for the men, working again with her on-screen son, Chandler Massey and Will’s on-screen father Bryan Dattilo, was also extra special.
The last time DAYS viewers saw Sami on the canvas was back in November of 2025, when she revealed she has gotten engaged to never-before-seen Dante Vitali. As for Clark, she last visited Salem for the episodes surrounding John Black’s memorial in June of 2025.
Chandler Massey’s Will Horton last made a visit to Salem in November of 2025 when he attended the gala for the Tom Horton Free Clinic as part of the soap opera’s 60th anniversary celebration. Bryan Dattilo was last seen in December of 2025. So, by the time we see all four again it will be close to two years since they were on new episodes of the series. Time to look forward to June of 2027.
So, excited by the news of Alison, Christie, Chandler and Lucas making a return to Days of Our Lives? What do you think the story will be involving, Sami, Carrie, Lucas and Will? Let us know via the comment section.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Alum Al Calderon Talks On His Daytime Emmy-Nominated Scenes as Javi Hernandez (Exclusive)

Last Tuesday, Al Calderon scored the first Emmy nomination of his career for his role as Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives.
Calderon name was announced as one of the performers competing for gold in the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 30.
This week, Calderon chatted live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel for a one-on-one conversation where he discussed: his nominated scenes and time on the Peacock streaming soap opera, his decision to leave DAYS, his role of Nico Silva on Brilliant Minds and its sad cancellation, plus his passing the torch of Javi to Jacob Martinez, who took over the role on-screen on the June 30, 2026 episode of Days of Our Lives.

JAVI REVEALS TO LEO THAT HE HAD A DAUGHTER WHO DIED
Al revealed the scenes that comprise his now Emmy-nominated reel have at its epicenter the heartbreaking moments from the September 12, 2025 episode. In it, Javi shares for the first time to Leo (Greg Rikaart) that he had a daughter named Solana, with a woman he was seeing named Sylvia. One fateful day, Sylvia left their child in a car when she went to work and the little girl died. Javi had blamed himself for not being the parent to take his daughter to school that day since he was hungover the night before, therefore it opened up the opportunity for something to happen to the his child, and it did.
The multi-talented actor/singer explained his reel: “It was the scene where he is talking about his daughter to Leo. I also included the scene where Javi goes to talk to Melinda (Tina Huang) and to see if it would be a viable option to adopt, because I wanted to introduce the subtlety and nuance of why Javi kind of has this whole connection to Tesoro, in a way.”
It is true that Al can bring the tears and make us cry right along with him during his run as Javi. To that, Calderon added, “I’ve read the comments that I’m a little bit of a crybaby, so I didn’t want the entire reel to be of me crying, but I wanted it to show a little bit of an emotional range of the restraint that Javi was feeling so I included that scene
In addition Calderon shared, “I also included a really beautiful scene with Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez, DAYS) where I’m looking at photos of Tesoro, and of course, Javi is crying. I just wanted to show the relationship between Javi and his family as well, and as I mentioned the reveal of the child that he lost.”

ALUMS AL CALDERON AND ALICE HALSEY REPRESENT DAYS OF OUR LIVES IN EMERGING TALENT CATEGORY
In a twist of fate, Calderon is also nominated in the Emerging Talent category with Alice Halsey who played Rachel Black. Halsey is currently starring in the reboot of Little House on the Prairie in the lead role of Laura Ingalls on Netflix.
As to his hope on Emmy night, Al expressed, “Of course, I want to win, but Alice Halsey is going to give me a run for the money. And if’s not me (who wins the award), it better be her!”
You can check out the full interview with Al below.
Now let us know, do you remember Al’s emotional scenes when he explained to Leo he had a daughter who died, which made it all the more heartbreaking to not end up with permanent custody of Tesoro? What do you think of Al’s chances to win the gold based on his Emmy scene selection? Do you miss him as Javi? Weigh-in via the comment section.

Emily O’Brien Talks On Her Y&R Past as Jana Hawkes and Working with Peter Porte on ‘Days of Our Lives’

On the latest edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped on Tuesday, July 21, Emily O’Brien is the featured guest. As soap fans know, Emily has worked with Rikaart both in her first soap role on The Young and the Restless as Jana Hawkes and now on Days of Our Lives in her current role of Gwen Rizczech.
While Emily continues on DAYS, she has very impressive list of credits in the other part of her career as a voice-over actress and one in motion-capture in some of the most popular video games in the world.
O’Brien was first seen on The Young and the Restless back in 2006. She recalled her landing the role which eventually paired her for her five year run with Greg Rikaart.

BEING CAST ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
“The role was just a few days and she wasn’t even supposed to be English,” Emily recalled. “The role was originally called Jade. Karen Rae, the casting director of The Young and the Restless at the time said to me “Oh, you’re from England. Try it with the dialect.” I put it on and she said, ‘I’m going to bring you back at like 3 for s callback.’ So then they changed the role to Jana and they said she’s going to be a Brit. I was only supposed to be on for like five episodes and it turned into 5 years.”
In explaining why she loved crazy Jana, Emily shared, “Jana was sort of like the misanthrope. She was just was the odd one out and I loved it. I felt so comfortable playing that because she was just eclectic and weird and she loved playing with Ouija boards and she rode a motorbike. There was just so much color to bring to her. It was just such a great match to play with Greg (Kevin), and Christian LeBlanc (Michael) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren).

GWEN, DIMITRI AND LEO ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES
On Days of Our Lives, the Leo, Gwen, Dimitri dynamic is quite unique and been through many schemes and entanglements. Often Emily finds herself in repartee with her ex-lover, Dimitri, who turned out to be gay and then had a thing for her bestie, Leo (Greg Rikaart)!
During the conversation, Greg and Emily sang, Peter Porte’s praised with O’Brien expressing, “Peter is just ready to play. He comes on set prepared. I’ve never seen him with his script. From blocking and rehearsals, he doesn’t have it. He’s prepared. He’s a physical actor and he always trying to come up with something. I think he let me slap him. He let me kiss him. He let me throw a cheeseburger in his lap. He’s ready for anything for anything.”
You can catch the full episode of ‘Soapy; featuring Emily O’Brien below where the actress also talks about replacing Jen Lilley as Theresa Donovan after being let go as Gwen; and being paired again with Greg Rikaart on the Peacock streaming soap opera this time as best friends and more.
So, were you a big Jana Hawkes and Kevin Fisher fan on Y&R? Did you like them as a couple? Do you like the dynamic between Emily and Peter Porte and Greg Rikaart on DAYS? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Hi went to watch 1/3/17 but days was not on channel7 NBC Love this story Hope I can get it back
I checked mine it’s not the cable dispute hope you get it back.
Do you live in Boston? Ch. 7 is no longer the NBC affiliate in Boston. The new affiliate is over the air on Channel 8.1 or Channel 60.5, and on cable: Channel 510 on Comcast, and 516 on Verizon.
In Boston, NBC is no longer an affiliate of WHDH 7, which will now run as an independent station. NBC now airs on Channel 10 as NBC Boston.
Hopefully she hangs around this time! Her most recent stint as Belle was the best, it was such a missed opportunity to not have done more with the character. Would love to see Shawn and Belle back on the canvas full time. Martha is such a great actress and deserves a storyline to really sink her teeth into.
She should be careful not to let the Days revolving door hit her in the bum on the way in and out and in and out…..she’s back for another tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. I await the next breathless announcement of the next return…Please Days, do better. Start with the writing.
Amen. Oh goody, the Belle Sean Phillip Triangle, iteration 2,457,832 was a waste of everyone’s time and talent.
Let me guess, she’s a plot point for the can’t act ‘singer’ of a child. This actress deserves much much better than that.
Hopefully she and Brandon Beemer will stick around for the long-haul this time. Belle and Shawn are legacy characters who should be featured in front-burner story. Same goes for Christie Clark and Austin Peck – I wish they were returning on contract, because Carrie and Austin are important characters to the canvas.
As newer viewer I like her. Sorry they wrote John Paul out. Like him also.
the last writing team… Griffith and Higley… gave no consideration and just never wrote for him, he had no chance… argh! it just bites… bereft audience I tell ya
with Ryan Quan and Dena Higley… argh! how many posts can be written to dismantle their choices ( TPTB ) … for writing and actors
John Paul Lavoisier Nailed his exit… floored me and left a solid impression
as I’ve posted before… Martha Madison… her first round… as a recast… spiraled … I was so glad she left
ROUND 2 : she did it… matured… I was a little upset that she replaced Daniel Cosgrove’ Aiden as Salem legal counsel… I was pleasantly surprised that she accomplished her turn as Belle.. and posted… I’d miss her.
round 3 : there is so much more to Belle.. than leads the eye… I loved that she was the complete opposite of what we expect… “nothing” like her mother, Marlena…. and the daughter of John Black. JUST LIKE Sammi….. LOL
Martha Madison has the chops to be … her own person… so… heres hoping with new writers, she will. I also don’t mind the recast of Shawn D. I wish they didn’t falter on his relationship with Lani…
dang i’m hoping for a good time… with Abe and his; the best family… that all have acting range and chops to spare.
gawd… I’m so happy for James Reynolds… he makes me smile… and it’s truly because I’m witnessing a family of color. so bring it on
Abe / Valerie / Lani / Theo… which also could be bringing on Valerie son by David Banning… Julie son.
heck… of all the families @DAYS… which family has it in spades… ABE’S.
as for the reunion of Chad and Abs : December 23, 2016 epi. I still went their… heck when ever actors are acting someone back from the dead. LOL. oy it could be painful to watch… and yes… I’d say both actors faltered for a bit… but it still had an emotional beat that I did distend my belief … yeah she’s alive… it’s not me acting in the telee… I still want Chad and Abs.
I feel very good about DAYS new regime.. and will hold out hope that Quan and Higley will do
just like holding out hope for fans of Y&R … lucky them ! for Young and Sussman.
I expect that DAYS and Y&R will be the two Serials to drive this genre.
i’m just near fed up with GH… but won’t give up due to my allegiance
B&B: I have never watched… watching RICH peoples lives beyond imagine… doesn’t swallow… ??? what’s the point .. watching all these rich folk… that’s not real at all… I don’t get it
CHEERS to @ DAYS and @ Y&R – SONY … stand by your product…. thank you
DAYS still has Anna DiMera
DAYS still has Carrie and Austin
DAYS still has Kimberly and Shane
DAYS NEES to hire Jade Harlow for Bryan Datillo ‘ Lucas
waiting for the return of Kassie DePaiva’ EVE
Whats this about John Paul L avoiser
I heard that she is only going to be on for a short time. She came back to get Sean and they are heading back to China.
Who comes and goes no longer matters to me…watching for now but my Days are numbered…
If you are referring to your days watching Days are numbered that’s okay, we all give up on soap now and then– but considering your state of mind of late, I am worry that you might be planning on harming yourself and that is what you meant that your days are numbered.
If the circumstance that is causing you so much pain was gone, would you still want to die? No– which means you don’t want to die, you want the circumstance you are facing to go away, because it is more than you can deal with at this moment and the depression is making you think there is no other option– but there are— the national hot line for those is crisis is 1-800-273-8255— a toll free number for vets facing homelessness is 1-877-424-3838
We all have a reason to live when life doesn’t seem worth living– you had one otherwise you would have done yourself in a long time ago based on what you already been through- you have lost sight of that reason, but it is still there and I pray you rediscover it before you do something you can’t take back
And if you were just referring to not watching Days then fine I over reacted, but you can understand why I would think there was more to that statement- your days are numbered– considering some of your posts lately
I do apologize if i alarmed you…i was thinking of selling everything including my tv…yes, im still worried and battling depression…and thanks for the numbers…i promise you i will use them if i have a relapse but even with my nephew rushed again to the hospital this morning and my sister ill off and on…there is finally a little light at the end of the tunnel and maybe i can prevent myself from becoming homeless…my days over meant iit looked like i will have to sell everything including my tv-i should had explained that better…again im sorry to have alarmed you
I would like to see all these family members in one place at one time and working as a family. Sometimes DAYS seem so disjointed.
I wonder if Megyn Kelly’s new NBC contract with its promise of a one-hour daily news show means DAYS is to be cancelled.
They say its going to be on sunday
Its is going to be on daytime and sunday I bet it going to be on at 2;oo cental time they have on crime watch daily in Austin witch nobody likes day is on at 1:oo hear that all we need is another take show she seams to be a nice person lets hope not
I want Belle with Philip always but I just love Martha Madison.
She coming back?? When did she leave???
If her stint is only short term I hope it is to usher off Claire…and Ciara….two dreadful actresses. I hadn’t watched for a while and when I tuned in it was a show heavily focused on those two and I could not believe how subpar they both were….like they were reading their scripts in a dry run through….monotone and lifeless.
Days made a huge error in SORASing Ciara. The young actress that had been portraying her ran circles around this more grown up version.
Agree on all fronts! Plus, they had so much more story potential with the younger Ciara because she was a good actress.
I hope this is a full-time return, because Martha Madison has always been an advocate for Days of Our Lives, and I truly did love seeing her on the canvas. She’s needed.
I like Belle and Martha. Hope she gets decent story this time around.
It will be good to see MM again. BTW, WNBC in NY is moving DOOL to the noon slot starting Jan. 16.
glad she’s back, they were dumb to let her go in the first place. the way the big city affiliates are moving Days to 12 noon makes me wonder if Days will be around after this next contact is up later this year.
love belle
no offence to brandon beemer, but jason cooke is the only shawn to me…
thats when shelle really click. i cant invest in them without the original shawn
I hope they keep her on. With Sami gone, we need her on. Her last run was ok but could have been better but it wasn’t her fault – it was the writers. I thought she had more edge to her and wasn’t the good girl. With Sami gone, we need someone on that is a little more grey.
I hope Martha is here to stay; also, I thought John Paul aced his exit. I wish that he had stayed. Plus, I like Abe with Maxine.
If it is a visit, then PLEASE take that BRAT daughter with you.
I thought she was BORING and I think quite frankly that this SHOW has become unwatchable – so sorry to put it that way, no offense to long time viewers.
I started watching in 2013 or so, and it was interesting the way Will and sonny were depicted but now, meh – these stale plot lines are for the birds – and the lack of sets, it also keeps things boring –
I would also like to go “off topic” and say that I frankly cannot believe that All My Children was cancelled, One Life to Live was cancelled but this show goes on and on – and trust me it’s not anywhere near as interesting as the aforementioned shows – and I do watch Days (on the NBC app at night, after work) but it’s REALLY getting monotonous and much, much too drawn out –
