Unfortunately, history has shown that television stations (broadcast and cable stations alike) rarely pick up canceled shows because in their mind if a show was canceled by another station, that probably means that the show will also fail on their own station. Prospect Park learned that the hard way when they find out that none of the cable networks wanted to air the soaps even though both soaps had more than 40 years of history. The failure of Passions on Direct TV in 2008 has accentuated even further the cautiousness of cable stations to embark themselves on the soap opera business… Read more »

What’s sad about the OLTL interviews were the fact that they were done before PP decided to scuttle plans after much ballyhoo, and that these poor people didn’t know what was about to hit them.

Second, Michael, can your biceps get any bigger?

Amanda, as far as things go, it won’t be online. PP dumped them along with AMC… unless some miracle happens and a cable network picks them up, they are gone for good, and next will be GH.

Melissa is a sweetheart and I will miss her a bunch! Natalie is one of my favorite female actresses, and it’s sad for us Jolie fans that we never really got to seem them as a happy family for any real length of time!

Thanks Michael for a wonderful interview! I’m so sad right now I can’t even talk any more.

Luv Melissa! Great interview Michael. I would love to see a Michael Easton and Melissa Archer interview. If anyone can make it happen it would be you Michael!!! But at least Jolie will get their happy ending. But i honestly wont be happy unless they get a wedding because i have waited 6 years for that wedding since John has been in that car accident. I dont think its fair that other couples can have a wedding who dont even have half as much history as Jolie but a couple that has had almost 10 years of history cant get… Read more »

I agree! I have been waiting forever. I saw John when he first came on in 2003 and it was clear to me then that her relationship with Cris was over! We are never going to get the wedding and that hurts. I am missing it too. I’ve been watching since I was a teenager but the only reason I continued to watch it was Jolie!

I am so upset that OLTL is going off! I have so many ‘favorites’ on here. The entire cast is great tho and compliments each other during the scenes. I love being a soap fan because I always felt out of all actresses and actors the soap stars appreciate their fans more and give back to us! Ever since I was little and have been watching, I always dreamed I could go visit the set and meet some of my OLTL family! Now it saddens me to know that I have even less of a chance for that to happen.… Read more »

I have been a fan of OLTL since 1968, and have had many favorite couples. My newest favorite is John and Natalie. I am so glad that they got together before the show ended. Melissa and Michael have explosive chemistry together. Melissa is an amazing actress. I hated Natalie when she first came to town, but Melissa made her a true soap heroine like her “mother” Viki. Besides watching OLTL I am a voracious reader, with my favorite genre being historical and multi-generational romances(of course). When I read them, I imagine Melissa & Michael as the main characters. In fact,… Read more »

Linda Dano Talks Taking On DAYS Vivian, Heartfelt Memories of Another World & Felicia Gallant, One Life to Live, Winning a Daytime Emmy & More

Currently, daytime fans are getting to see one of the most beloved actress in the history of the soap genre, Linda Dano, on NBC’s Days of our Lives in the role of the villainess Vivian Alamain.

Dano is taking on the part originally made soap-famous by Louise Sorel, and last played by Robin Strasser. Now it’s Dano’s turn to bring her own style to the role as viewers have witnessed that Vivian has kidnapped Eli (Lamon Archey) and Lani’s (Sal Stowers) twins, thanks to Viv’s sidekick, Ivan (Ivan G’Vera), and the story and all the drama continues this week.

Photo: JPI

In a very special conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Linda chats with Michael about the challenges she faced stepping into Vivian’s shoes, and working with the cast and crew at DAYS.

Linda also shares her sorrow over the heartbreaking cancellation, and then taping final episode of Another World, where she played her signature soap role of Felicia Gallant for 18 years.  During her run, Dano won the Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy in 1993 for Felicia’s battle with alcoholism, which as she reveals she is still stopped on the street about to this day.

Photo:NATAS

Soap fans will recall that Dano is the only actress to crossover to all of the ABC daytime dramas when she returned to One Life to Live, (following her time on Another World), in the part of Gretel “Rae” Cummings, and we learned that Rae was the bio-mother of Skye Chandler, played by Robin Christopher.

Throughout her career, Dano also appeared on Guiding Light and As the World Turns, hosted the talk show, Attitudes and is known as one of the fashionable people in the business.  Linda formerly helped dress many of your favorite soap stars, wrote a book on having just the right look, and is always on the cutting edge of the fashion world.

As you will see, the conversation was poignant, humorous, and candid, but what else would you expect from the one and only Linda Dano?  You can watch the full chat below.

What have you thought of Linda’s portrayal of DAYS Vivian thus far? Was your favorite soap role of Linda’s … that of AW’s Felicia Gallant? What story that she shared in the conversation did you enjoy hearing about the most?  Let us know via the comment section.

WATCH: The Cast of ‘Studio City’ Talk On the Latest Five Episodes & The Making of the Critically-Acclaimed Digital Drama

It’s one of the most talked about digital dramas out there, with a look and feel all its own, containing smart, witty, and dramatic plots and dialogue, and stellar performances abound.

In Amazon Prime’s Studio City, the story about life on a soap in front of the camera juxtaposed with the often harsh reality of life behind the scenes, will have any fan of the genre getting a kick out of some of the very familiar soap tropes contained within balanced with the five-hankie moments throughout  And now, Studio City has dropped their latest five episodes picking the story back up from where it left off.

Michael Fairman chatted with the cast of Studio City in his latest interview for The Michael Fairman Channel on You Tube. Those taking part in this virtual conversation included: Sean Kanan (Sam), Sarah Joy Brown (Laurie), Tristan Rogers (Doc), Carolyn Hennesy (Gloria), Scott Turner Schofield (Max), Anna Maria Horsford (Jolene), and Justin Torkildesn (Jacob).  Ronn Moss, who also appears in the series playing a version of himself, was filming a movie during the scheduling of this chat, but his presence is felt when some hilarious moments featuring him and Sean Kanan were discussed.

Soap fans know these actors very well.  Kanan, Brown, Hennesy and Rogers have all, or are presently appearing, on General Hospital.  B&B fans recognize Torkilden, Horsford, Moss, and Schofield along with Kanan from their work on the CBS Daytime drama.

Getting a show up and running and then taped during the Covid-19 pandemic is no easy task as Kanan shared in the group interview.  As well, Anna Maria Horsford and Sarah Joy Brown share how they came to their parts and the rapid-fire pace in which their scenes were shot.  Tristan Rogers, who won a Daytime Emmy last year for his performance as Doc, gives another heartbreaking turn, and reveals his thoughts on the work he did, plus shares his remembrances of his late friend and GH co-star, John Reilly.

Scott Turner Schofield talks about how Sean and his wife Michele Kanan, two of the creators of the show, have given him and the transgender community a space with Max’s storyline in Studio City.  GH favorite, Carolyn Hennesy shares how she crafted her role of Gloria, the executive producer, after Jill Farren Phelps, and Daytime Emmy winner Justin Torkildsen shares how he wound up with a part in the digital drama and the scenes he shares with Hennesy.

You can check out the full Studio City cast interview below.  Then let us know, have you checked out the series? What have been your favorite moments and performances in it? Let us know in the comment section.
