Melissa Archer's New DAYS Character Name and First Airdate Revealed!

This week soap fans have been rejoicing that One Life to Live favorite Melissa Archer (Ex-Natalie) has landed a new soap home and it’s in Salem USA on Days of our Lives!
Today, Matt Web Mitovich of TV Line has some additional details on Melissa’s new daytime gig! According to TV Line, Melissa will playing a character named Serena, and that she has ties to someone in Salem.
And you can look for Archer to make her Days of our Lives debut on Friday, December 5th. Archer has most recently been featured in Crystal Chappell’s web series, Beacon Hill!

@Monica…sorry for being so blunt, but I shudder at the thought of connecting her to Daniel. That was my gut reaction.
After thinking about it I couldn’t really come up with a viable love interest currently on the canvas except for Lucas. I wouldn’t mind her being connected to Aiden, as his not-dead wife (you know it’s coming). As attractive as all the men are in Salem, there aren’t many that make viable love interests. They are either kinda creepy or very stupid. lol.
I know she’s a bit older than them but I’d like to see her in a triangle with Ben and Abby.

Danial is always such a disappointment for me. Why? Because he looks like Will Ferrell so I keep expecting him to be really funny but instead he is just really boring.
What I wouldn’t give to see Danial padding around the hospital in an Elf costume, or better yet, appear at a hospital board meeting in his birthday suit.
I really hope she’s paired with Brady, now that’s a hot couple. He’s the only viable choice for me, because I despise nicole and don’t want her fighting that chick for any man, Eric is out. I think she’s way too young to be Aiden’s ex-not-so dead wife, but then again Theresa was too old to have been sniffing around JJ. Jennifer & Daniel need to go off and have the happy boring life, they are good together even though their a snore.
I’m assuming she’s Aiden’s wide, another bitter/scheming wife/ex-wife who will go to ridiculous lengths to hold on to a man that doesn’t love her. DAYS has been milking this stale, negative portrayal of women for decades and it’s time to retire it. How can this show be so good and so bad at the same time?
Just hope she’s not another one going after Danial or Jennifer…its like the only plotline Days can write for those two…wish she had been Sarah Horton and someone more positive in Bradys life!!!

Maybe Serena is Sarah and has a split personality…more likely Aidens ex, especially after that lady bartender mentioned he wasnt wearing a ring kind of was like a hint…imo…that wifey will soon be showing up! Wouldv’e been interesting had Aiden been Sarah’s ex but Maggie and Hope wouldv’e known that!!!
Probably Aiden’s wife. Although, I am confused….for some reason it seems they have not done a good job (purposely?) of saying she is dead or they divorced…maybe I just missed it.
And, that bartender hitting on him was a bit creepy…she seemed like she was college age….way too young.

You’re on to something…Sarah as Serena could have met Aiden and married him and gave birth to their son without Aiden knowing that she is Sarah. It could have ended quickly, therefore, Maggie and the rest would have no idea. Serena really can be Sarah!!!
Thursday’s episode did have Maggie warning Dr. Dan about Eve, including the tidbit about Eve running down Sarah with a stolen car.
Thursday’s episode also had Aiden opening up to Hope about his “dead wife”. He could feel it’s better to refer to her as dead rather than explain that he never really knew her at all…She ran off to resume her Sarah life…a life Aiden don’t know!

jimh, maybe Sarah’s split personality began with being hit by Eve and/or that will be the basis for Sarah’s/Serena’s hatred for Eve. Eve and Maggie already clashed a couple times.
She is a wonderful actress and all of the long time fans of DAYS will see that..So happy she is back in Daytime TV..I am happy she in not a recast but an original character..Sorry for those hoping otherwise, but we need to move forward and do recasting when its been a long time that character is being on the show or when its just story diictated.

Shane and Kim dont have any other daughters…and with Eve and Thressa plenty enough to deal with, im sure Mr. and Mrs. D. are forever grateful they never had another devil daughter…Note: Kim is Eve’s stepmom; Gabrielle (4get last name) was Eve’s bio mom!!!
Be that as it may, jimh, ….it really bothers me when TPTB introduce characters who are merely a few years younger than their parents. Kassie DePaiva is only 6 years younger than Charles Shaughnessy, who plays Eve’s father. I know it’s just a soap and as such it has poetic license, as it were, but seriously?
I think she’ll be Aiden’s ex-wife. I think Aiden and Hope are going to realize their feelings very soon and as we all know what happens next….Looking forward to December 5th:) Here comes Serena!!

Serena Coleville was married to Philip Coleville, and was the mother of Diana. Serena was after a mysteriouscomputer disk that Victor was also after. When she beat Victor to the disk he vowed revenge on her. After she got the disk she began to mine a valuable mineral that the disk gave the location to. When Roman II/John Black and Diana began to see each other she tried to kill him. Roman II/John Black survived and arrested Serena, who he later learned was Diana’s mother. After Philip Coleville was killed Serena and Victor Kiriakis began plotting to steal the Coleville fortune from Diana. Their first attempt at getting the fortune was to trick Diana into marrying Victor, but it was thwarted when Roman Brady II/John Black rescued Diana from Victor’s clutches. There second attempt was to make it seem like Serena had been kidnapped and Diana was to turn over her fortune to set her mother free. This attempt was also thwarted when Diana’s assets were frozen and Diana was kidnapped by a terrorist group. Diana was rescued, and learned the horrible truth about what her mother had done to her.
By her picture she looks like she is way too young to be playing Diana Coleville’s mother— a granddaughter of that character you mentioned perhaps???
I thought the same thing about the age, but I also thought it’s odd that they would use the same name of a character. What do you think?
The article here didn’t state her last name, just her first–so if they are repeating a first name, I think they just lost track and forgot they already had character named Serena. If they are using the same last name, then I think she must be like I said earlier a granddaughter or a name sake of the original owner of the name. It would be nice if she was related to the Colevilles– it could be fun to have that family back on canvas.

Aidens wife died!! They had a bad marriage but stayed together for the boy. She got sick and passed away. He told Hope all that today!

There have been a couple times when Aiden slipped and talk about his wife in the present tense, as if she was still alive– he might be telling everyone she is dead, perhaps “being sick” meant she was committed to an institution or is in jail or the very popular soap coma and was easier for him to tell his son, she was deceased. Or maybe she pulled a Krammer vs Krammer and just abandoned them, but instead of telling his son he was deserted by his mother he told him she passed away. Her being alive, but “dead” to him, might explain why he says he is not available for another relationship. My point being if the the writers want Aiden’s wife to be alive, they can find a way to explain why he said she was dead when she wasn’t.
I’m so excited about this. Melissa did a terrific job as Natalie on OLTL. Can’t wait to see what she’ll do on Days. Welcome aboard Melissa.
So happy for Ms. Archer! She held her own working against Erika Slezak and Ilene Kristen as her two moms from her first day on OLTL! These ladies were soap Royalty since the 1970s!
So we only have to wait three months before we see her on the show? Not the normal six months? That’s so great, I miss seeing her. I love it when favorites from the past are cast on the remaining soaps, there’s so much talent there.
I can see her in a triangle with Abby and Ben, especially since Sami will be gone soon and they will need a new person in their story.
Melanie will be on screen in November. She’ll be the third point to the triangle…most likely.

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Tops With 18, ‘Beyond the Gates’ With 16
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and it was CBS daytime’s The Young and the Restless and broadcast television newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates that racked up the most nominations with 18 and 16, respectively.
The full reveal on Tuesday follows the announcement of several major categories including Lead Actor and Actress on Monday via Extra and Entertainment Tonight and The View today revealing Daytime Drama Series and more.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony is set to take place on Friday, October 30 at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California.

In a statement, Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS expressed, “We’re proud to honor the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television, As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognizing the innovation happening across the industry.”
“Each year, the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrate the creativity, passion, and dedication that drive this vibrant community of storytellers,” said Rachel Schwartz, Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. “Congratulations to this year’s nominees, whose work continues to entertain, inspire and connect with audiences every day. The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of genres, including daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Gold & Silver Circle Inductees, and ceremony host will be announced at a later date.

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

THE FIVE LEADING LADIES OF THE SOAPS ARE …
The 2026 Lead Actress nominees are: Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera), Days of Our Lives, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), Beyond the Gates, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), The Young and the Restless, Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Beyond the Gates.
This marks the first Daytime Emmy nominations for Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie. In addition, this marks the first-time in her career that Stacy Haiduk had received a Lead Actress nod after two Supporting Actress nominations.
Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

DAYTIME TALK SERIES
In the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series category, the nominees are: 3rd Hour of Today, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna and Friends and The View.

It’s Daytime Emmy nomination week, and as previously reported things kick-off on Monday, July 13 when Entertainment Tonight (7pm ET) will announce the nominees for Lead Actress category and Daytime Talk Series for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Then, Tuesday night at 8pm ET/5pm PT join Michael Fairman as he hosts his 12th annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special 2026 live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel where he will chat with some of the just announced nominees as we celebrate the hard work of the men and women in front of the camera who will be going for gold.
WHEN ARE THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
This year, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out on October 30 in ceremonies in Hollywood, California (Venue yet to be revealed). At that time, as like last year, both the major categories and creative arts will be presented. There is no word yet on a broadcast partner for the annual celebration of daytime programming, or if it will soley be streamed on NATAS’ watch.theemmys.tv and various apps and platforms.
