Suffice to say, this is one piece of casting news that made us very happy to hear! General Hospital has cast multi-Daytime Emmy winner, and beloved All My Children favorite, Michael E. Knight in a mystery role on the ABC soap.

Knight, who played Pine Valley’s Tad Martin on and off from 1982 to 2011 on ABC’s All My Children, will begin taping scenes soon when GH returns from its mid-summer production break.

As to who will Michael play? That is being kept under-wraps.  But Knight’s new GH castmate and his former AMC castmate, James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) enthused on the announcement: “I am thrilled, are you kidding me? I love that guy. He’s excited, too; it’s been a while for him. It’s going to be really fun to have him on my turf. I would love to share scenes with him.”

Soap viewers last saw Knight in his role as Dr Simon Neville on The Young and the Restless back in 2015.

So who do you think Michael will play on the GH canvas?  Could he reprise Tad but in Port Charles, since ABC has the rights now to the characters from AMC and OLTL? Stay tuned.

Excited by the news of Michael to GH? Comment below.

I know he won’t be but man I wish he was going to be Jeff Webbe a great actor he could pull it off but I know he won’t be

Please stop with the politics can we just enjoy a show ????

Kay that is a good idea.

UMMM????No one was talking politics here. What are you talking about?

Despite the gray hair, he looks nowhere near old enough to be Jeff Webber. Unless Richard Dean Anderson is bored and needs the work, I don’t see any reason for Jeff to come back. A recast of a character who has been gone almost 40 years would be pointless.

As I wasn’t a regular AMC watcher, I don’t know much about this guy (other than a lot of people confusing him with David Hasselhoff’s 80’s character with the talking car) but I remember hearing the name “Tad the Cad” used a lot back in the day, so presumably he likes the villain roles. Hopefully he’s NOT going to be further propping the Shiloh cult.

“Tad the Cad”, had a girlfriend, slept with her and her mother, among other things.

@Kay….Seems I’m the only one who thinks that “Tad the Cad” was one of the most overrated characters in soap opera history! I could stand neither him—-nor his saccharin sis, the boring Jenny—from the moment “they” arrived in Pine Valley. (But at least she died young instead of lingering on AMC way past her sell-by date like Tad did..) Needless to add, I’m less than thrilled that yet another defunct ABC soap city denizen is landing in Port Charles….it’s just all so predictable! As for whom he shall be portraying? Hopefully, not Jeff Webber….Knight is wrong for that role on so many levels…In fact, here’s to the notion that he won’t be a recast for any GH legacy character, but just another of those useless quickie filler players that are created out of thin-air in order to accommodate the endless parade of “soap-gets” this show loves to feature with annoying regularity. P.S. At one time, there were at least a dozen daytime dramas being telecast, although most are now sadly gone. However, each featured a wonderful roster of actors (and characters) that are well and truly missed! How about bringing some of those individuals to GH for a much-welcome change instead of constantly recycling OLTL/AMC cast members???

I, too, thought originally about Jeff. MEK is about 10 years younger than RDA, but you’re right, could pull it off. Although, Knight excels in comical roles, and Jeff is definitely on the serious side. To see him play Rebecca Budig’s dad would be interesting.

Knight would make a good Jimmy Lee Holt, but with Alan and Tracy gone, it’s highly unlikely that character would ever return.

Likely to be a new character.

Indeed. I love when he’s funny. He was always so relaxed. I hope his wonderful personality and the twinkle in his eye can come shining through!

I am wishing for him to be Jeff Webber as well!

No it won’t be that’s ok at least she has Hayden back and they have great chemistry as sisters ! I hate the ending of billy miller storyline but whatever reason it is ! Whatever not going to bash other actors it’s a business and sometimes they make decisions we can’t understand

That’s a cool idea!

Oh please don’t let him be Helena’s partner in crime, as they showed the other day standing next to her after Shiloh left.

Helena’s partner in crime is Heinrich.

He is too sweet of a guy to be evil.

great

I hope he is still Tad the Cad, only a grown up version. Hmmmm…. Talexis maybe? #Talexis

Hey ABC…. bring back ONE LIFE TO LIVE !

I couldn’t agree more brian.

Congratulations to Michael E. Knight. I hope they put him to better use than Y&R did.

Llanviewer717
Yes, M.E.K was so wasted on Y&R. They could never have found a better partner for Ashley, and apparently still haven’t.
I liked Ravi too. Why haven’t we seen him somewhere else?

Totally agree… OLTL had some of the best caters playing great characters with storylines to boot, the fact that so many fell at the waist side of other soaps with poor to mediocre story lines really suck…. They need a home if they’re own. These daytime talk shows are a bore….

Doubt it will happen, but I’m all for the idea, as long as Frank & ReRon and all their pets go back, and keep their stench off of Days & GH.

A little scared to see what they do with him. Really, I just hope he pulls in more viewers.

Maybe they will cast him as the new Dante. Just being silly here, but can you picture him with Lulu hoop?

I was just wondering if there is a possibility he could be Cameron’s father. Would be a good time to add more angst to the family. Or was that guy killed?

Cameron’s bio-father was Zander Smith, who died in an infamous “suicide by cop” incident. And he’s still very much dead & in Hell.

Other articles I’ve seen on the subject describe Knight’s character as a “new role” so hopefully that means NOT a recast. I’m also hoping it also means it’s a short term role, because the last thing GH really needs right now is another contract player.

Nothing against the guy. I would simply prefer the long time GH “vets” to get more storylines.

Satan
Thanks for the information. I did not know much of Cam’s dad.
Speaking of a short term role, I just read that someone called Manila Luzon, described as a drag queen will be visiting P.C. I wonder in what capacity?

They wasted him on Y&R so maybe GH will use him properly. Clean shaven: Jeff Weber. Beard: Stephan Cassadine.

Love Michael but my fear is he will be the mystery man (in the flash-back scene) who is in cahoots with Helena Cassidine. I don’t want him to be a villan as I’d rather he become a long time part of the canvas playing a good guy.

Lena, glad we were wrong about that.

So love Tad on AMC, he will be a good choice for GH.

Love “Tad the Cad.”
Hope he won’t be saddled down by Parking Lot Peter, like everyone else on the show.

w/ Elisabeth new crisis and Hayden back in town and the webber boys, GH would be foolish not to take advantage of this casting and have him play a legacy character. Its perfect time for Jeff Webber to come back to town. here’s an idea, he comes back to town to see his girls, and grandkids, he’s new separated from liz mom, (she could show up later.). and maybe he starts dating like lets say Alexis, can you just imagine sam and liz parents dating, lol, there’s a lot from that alone. Come on GH, play this to your advantage an milk the endless story possibilities.

What a fantastic idea, aria ! So often we gripe a lot about what’s NOT working, seldom do we read what we’d LIKE to see.

I have missed you so, Michael!!!!!!—I will readily take you with open arms, in any way, shape or form—-kisses and hugs!!

I sure they won’t go there but yes, Tad Martin, please.

I think it would be cool if Tad were to come to PC. Seriously, it would be fun. Now, if only they evolve Franco into Todd, Bring in Erica Kane…and it’s an ABC Daytime reunion. Yes, I know, I’m a dork..but I think it would be fun! =)

This was my hope as well….
Or, at least getting him on the ABC payroll while getting a AMC/OLTL reboot going….

I am so excited and can’t wait for Michael Knight to join General Hospital! He is amazing!!!

I’m thrilled!I’d LOVE to have Tad back! His family too, in time.
Whatever the role, I hope it’s long term and worthy!

I love, love, love him!!!! The white hair looks beautiful on him and yet he still has that baby face. Plus, he’s a gifted actor. I hope GH serves him better than they served Billy Miller.

So good to see Michael get another show at daytime TV. Don’t watch GH, but sure enjoyed him on Y&R….and still miss his character there.

My guess a two day stint, not staying around. Like Gordon Thompson “joining” Y and R… more like a guest cameo.

Wish he’d come back to Y&R.

I may have to start watching GH. I love this guy.

I am so glad to see him on General Hospital. He is such a good actor . All I can say is awesome !!! Thank you GH

According to Soap Opera Network, all daytime dramas were up year-over-year, and General Hospital was joined by The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful with gains in their total audience viewership, while Beyond the Gates was only slightly off pace for the ratings week.

While still under the 2 million viewers mark (which they can hopefully return in the coming weeks) their overall tally was an average of 1, 935,000 tuning-in, while still up year-to-year +136,000.

In addition, GH while actually down from the previous week in the 18-49 ratings share, they still out performed Beyond the Gates for third place. However, GH was firmly in third place for the 25-54 ratings share.

The stories that were featured for the week included: Anna’s (Finola Hughes) PTSD and struggle with painful memories tied to Cesar Faison, and her concocting a plan to get rid of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) recording Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) threatening her, and later running into a severe threat from Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) regarding Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting, and Drew enlisting Ava (Maura West) to gain leverage over Jack, which resulted in Ava drugging him, while Drew went snooping for the evidence Brennan had against him.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Y&R remained in the top spot amongst all the soaps once again with 3,062,000 tuning in, and up +35,000 for the week, while year-to-year still showing strong gains at +231,000 viewers. THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL

B&B is continuing to be inch closer to Y&R for the top spot, separated by a little more than 300,000 viewers. For the ratings week, the series posted a total audience of 2,719,000 adding +31,000 eyeballs overall, and like Y&R, is up year-to-year in its performance.

The CBS soap now , now in its 40th season is +217,000 from the same time last year. In the key demos, The Bold and the Beautiful was in the top spot for the women 18-49 ratings share and number two for women 25-54.

In story, the major threat to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Daphne’s (Murielle Hilaire) marriages continued as Steffy and Carter swore they would not tell their spouses that the two had a drunken hook-up. BEYOND THE GATES

Beyond the Gates tallied an average of 1,611,000 total viewers for the week, up +72.000 year-over-year and down slightly in tune-in for the week losing just -36,000 viewers. The CBS soap came in fourth place in the key demos for the week behind General Hospital, with whom they are often trading places for the third spot.

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)

Maura West and Kelly Sullivan

It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.

The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.

Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST

Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”

Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE

Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”

Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

KELLY SULLIVAN PARTING THOUGHTS AS SHE LEFT GENERAL HOSPITAL

Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”

You can catch the full conversation with Kelly where she talks about her time on General Hospital, The Young and the Restless where she played Sage Warner and now The Bold and the Beautiful below.

So, do you remember the Ava and Connie scenes where Ava shot and killed her? What did you think of Kelly Sullivan’s sentiments about Maura West? Share your thoughts via the comment section. But first, watch the reveal where Ava recalls murdering Connie below!

Steve Burton Reportedly Signs Three-Year Contract with ‘General Hospital’

Published

Steve Burton

The question of will Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stay awhile at General Hospital after his recent extended hiatus from the show earlier this year, has reportedly been answered.

TMZ via court documents obtained in Burton’s ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Sheree Gustin, shared that Steve actually inked a new three year deal with the ABC soap opera back in June.

That is significant because it was June when Burton returned back to work as Jason. In addition, the court filing confirmed that Burton had already moved back to California from Tennessee.

STEVE’S HIATUS AND HIS RETURN TO PORT CHARLES

GH fans will recall, it was back in February of 2026, that Burton announced via his Instagram that he was stepping away from his role of Jason Morgan for short break and pointed to wanting to spend quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton with whom he tied the knot back on May 17, 2025.

Steve expressed at that time, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.” It was back on March 25 that viewers saw Jason carted away by the WSB after taking the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) who shot then WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Burton returned to work on June 1, and due to General Hospital taping roughly six weeks ahead of air, made his on-screen comeback on the July 13 episode.

GOING FOR GOLD AT THE UPCOMING DAYTIME EMMYS

Then, Steve and his enduring fans got an extra special treat on the same day, when it was revealed on Extra that he was nominated for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.

Steve previously won in the Supporting Actor category for his work as General Hospital’s Jason in 1998 and as The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy in 2018.

Now with Jason and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship seemingly hitting the skids, plus Jason’s commitment to staying out of mob life to focus on being present for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), what does the future hold for the fan favorite character? Stay tuned.

So, happy to hear that Steve Burton signed a new three year deal with General Hospital? Knowing that, what storyline would you like to see Jason get involved and with who? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section.
