Michael E. Knight On If He Will Return To All My Children!

Long time All My Children fan favorite Michael E. Knight is sorely missed these days as Tad Martin on the revival of the series from TOLN and Prospect Park. Knight is keeping busy though, and will be seen in a fantastic guest star role on an upcoming episode of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva on the July 14th episode!
TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan caught up with Knight to ask him not only about his guest star turn but if he plans on finally making a return to Pine Valley and All My Children, where the character of Tad has been recently talked about on new episodes!
Knight has this to say if a return is imminent to AMC: “For sure I will be back. You know, the reason I didn’t want to continue with AMC when Prospect Park took over was that I had done the show for 20 years straight and one move cross-country in two years was enough for me. I was tired! Plus I felt I had done everything there was to do on the show. I came back from the dead. I was twins. I had amnesia. I did everything but give birth and marry Erica! But I’m definitely up for a visit so, yeah, Tad will make his presence known in Pine Valley. Maybe not really soon but someday. And I mean that. “
Knight on leaving Cady McClain (Dixie) solo on the new AMC : “Now she knows how I felt. [Laughs] She died twice and was gone for ages. Now she knows what I had to deal with! I love Cady. ”

I would be happy with Tad there full time but if he can’t just a few shows every month would really make me happy.
I grew up with Tad. I started watching AMC with my grandmother. My dad wasn’t a fan of AMC until Tad, and all his teenage antics. Ever since then my dad was hooked. I think I’ve been watching since 1973 or 1974 when I was 7, or 8 years old. I know in a perfect world everyone would be back, but its no, and abc saw to it that it couldn’t be. For right now ill take what I can get.
I certainly do hope that Michael E. Knight does return to AMC! He is a talented actor, and I truly miss Tad. He and Dixie are definitely a couple!
I sure do miss him very much. I am glad to hear that at some point he will visit Pine Valley. Now to get Greenlee, Ryan and Kendall back would be icing on the cake! How about Jack and Erika and please more Adam!
ICAM about Kendall, Jack and Erica, and Ryan and Greenlee are ok, too, but I especially want more Kanes back on the show! Hopefully Susan Lucci and Alicia Minshew will be returning to AMC soon for more than just one episode’s worth of scenes. As for Tad, MEK should always have a home at AMC. The show needs more veterans and more Martins, and I want to see a Tad & Dixie back together again, and I hope to see Zach and Kendall reunite onscreen, too! There’s no good reason for the Slaters’ divorce. None.
I believe it’s a BIG mistake for Alicia Minshew not to return ASAP. I know she has other things going on and what’s to explore her fame outside of soaps.. but this is her opportunity to seize power and become THE star of AMC, like Erica Slezak is of OLTL and Susan Lucci was of AMC.
Minshew has an opportunity to take on the role of the lead woman on a soap that could give her job security for decades. While there is still the perception that soaps are going the way of the dood.. I believe they’ll come back in a big way and prove themselves sustainable.
My sentiments exactly Lisa. Tad was the stable.predictable character on the show whereas Greenlee, Kendall, and Ryan were the fireworks of fantastic acting. I pray the day comes they all return even for short stints. Anything appearance is better than none and it would keep the storylines coming. My fingers are crossed!
Would love to see MEK return as Tad.
Ted used to be the fireworls back in the 70’s and 80’s. Now he’s the ‘stable old dad’ guy!!!

Would love to see Michael Knight back on AMC with Cady McClain. I love Michael’s character and sense of humor on the show. The show is lacking that now. Definitely the show needs him back. Miss ya
Have to agree Deborah the show really and truly is missing some humor. It’s also missing some stronger scripts but hopefully that is in the works down the road a tad. Speaking of Tad, yes I hope that Michael Knight returns to Pine Valley as TAD MARTIN because brother, they really need his presence. It’s like, he’s the link between Dixie being there and Opal and a close friend for years of Angie and Jesse Hubbard.
I would like to see Billy Clyde attempt to romance Opal…they together could add some humor to the show…they could be the next Phoebe and Langley…id come back and watch that…probably no agreements her to the pairing but i feel it could be comic gold if written right. But first Opal wouldnt be attract to him.
Yes he is missed so much!! I would love to see him back full time, but will take what I can get. I have to say that Micheal/Tad have been what I missed and still miss the most since the ABC/D cancellation.
I did catch Dixie’s mention of Tad this week and I got very excited that it could mean a return soon. Even if all we get is an occasional appearance, that is better than nothing. Thank you for posting about his upcoming appearance on Drop Dead Diva – will set the TIVO to record that for sure. I miss Tad, and Michael so much! Excited to be able to see him acting again.

Yes, Tad’s presence is needed at the very least to explain where he was that Dixie couldn’t reach him. Tad & Dixie were one of the last super couples around and I hope he can come back full time sooner than later!

Yeah, he did have a lot of different story lines but so did everyone else. I understand he is now established in LA (unfortunately thanks to ABC) but fans have been very vocal about wanting him to come back. A guest shot on Drop Dead Diva?? Sure, whatever. Sounds to me like his AMC fans aren’t really that important to him. And that’s sad because he was such a nice guy when I met him at the WDW Super Soap Weekend a few years back. So, IMO, if he can’t come back fulltime to be with Dixie then I would just as soon he not come back at all. And if you choose to cut me down because of my opinion go ahead, I really don’t care.
Oh, and footnote .. he doesn’t even have an official FB page where we can leave comments for him.
Michael is very missed and needed in Pine Valley. We desperately need him and want him back! He is one of the biggest part of AMC. I will keep praying that it works out for him and he comes back, because without Michael, there is no TAD.

Its funny, that he thinks Tad has been played out, yet Susan Lucci has been played Erica 41 years and she wants to come back, but she did movies and other shows, so that’s probably why she isn’t burnt out.

No, not with Cara. Please. They were not a good couple. No chemistry. Cara needs to be with David! They deserve each other! If Tad can’t be with Dixie, then I say put him back with Brooke again! I liked them together!

I really miss Tad the Cad too. It has been mentioned he is away on a case. Where are his children? I think Dixie will soon have a new love interest in the doc at the hospital.

There is not now nor has there ever been anyone on AMC that makes my heart jump. MEK is just the best. I’m a 41 year fan and have never missed an episode. I am struggling to get into the new version without him. So please MEK make my dreams come true, come back.

from what Michael said, he sounds like is bored playing Tad and only wants to come back for short guest roles. I’m disappointed, but he gave us many, many years of great performances and I wish him all the happiness and luck in the world. I’d love if prospect park could give him a story that would persuade him to come bak long term. But it sounds like he will not be ready for some time for even a guest shot. I understand. Part of it is ABsleeze fault for moving AMC to the west coast and then canceling so quickly. Sounds like he’s be willing to guest sooner if he had never moved west. Michael, I love you and wish you all the happiness in the world. I miss seeing you on AMC and miss Tad.
I live in California. When I first found out that AMC was going to be moving out here, I had mixed emotions about it. As much as I would have loved maybe seeing one of the stars out here, I really didn’t want them to be here. I just had a bad feeling. I told myself, if they move the show out here, that was going to be the end of AMC. And I was right. I felt so bad for all the people that moved out here, only to lose their job a year and a half later. Maybe I’ll get lucky and see Michael out here sometime! They’re always filming things near where I live. You never know! I still miss him on AMC though. I do hope he’ll be back to stay!
I hope you get to see him, Kristie. I think it was very bad ethics to move everyone out west and then cancel the show. The economy was very bad so they probably lost money on their homes when they moved, and for those who moved back, probably lost again. I agree with you totally. If it’s the right thing for him, I hope he comes back to stay. They need to offer him an interesting storyline. I don’t think he and Dixie is it.
OF COURSE! I’m very optimistic that Tad will return and of course a big piece of him is missing considering that he has JR, AJ and Dixie in Pine Valley and of course there are the unanswered questions, what happened to Krystal and the little girls? are they with Krystal, are they with Tad or are Tad and Krystal both together and they are with them? Hey! I want to know and I’m sure everyone else does too.
Michael’s Tad and Walt’s Jackson are who I want to see. I was happy to see Dimitri back too. Now bring back Tad for Dixie and Dr. Joe and Jackson to complete my wish list. Erica and Kendall could pop in every so often but I don’t really care. Tad and Dixie are my favorite all time couple.

I hope and pray that Tad (Michael Knight) will be back and I can’t wait. I think with the actors doing 5 weeks on and then 5 weeks off gives them a chance to do other things. I hope he realizes this and comes back because he is very missed. I also miss Kendall, Ryan, and Greenlee and I hope they come back too. I also hope that Oprah keeps picking up the soaps but I hope after this summer’s marathon that she buys more shows and airs them simultaneously with Hulu so those without computers or internet service can enjoy them too. It isn’t All My Children without Michael E. Knight. Tad was always my favorite character, and it is NOT the same without him. Not at all. Love you, Michael!! Please come back, we are tired, too, we fought like hell to get the soaps back, and then you didn’t come, I cried when you didn’t.
I do hope when hope ME/Tad returns he won’t be an old worn out man, and that he will be someone to be reckoned with and the ‘cad’ in Tad will once again be alive!!

Oh I do hope he comes back! When he does, I hope that they can keep it a secret so I can really be surprised. They leaked TSJ’s return to OLTL. I found out on twitter that RKK was back as Stavros 5 minutes before he showed up. I was still glad but, it is so much better when it’s a surprise. Like when TSJ’s execution on OLTL, you REALLY thought he was dead until the next episode. Traumatic yes, but GREAT DRAMA!
We need Tad back and Jackson and Krystal .

I feel sad for the comment Tad made about coming back for a visit someday. He is so missed by tons of people, not just me, and I miss him so much on the show. I understand his feeling about the bad treatment by ABC, but it seems like Prospect Park is really trying to make the fans happy. But they are working too much with the young teens’ storylines and they really need some more of the veteran players for us longtime fans. I have loved watching Tad the Cad since he was first on AMC. Come on down, Tad, … give it a try … lots of your acting friends are there and they need you. Wish you would put up a Michael E. Knight website for us fans to find out what you’re doing and where you’re performing. I saw you playing in that play. I was in the first row and couldn’t take my eyes off of you. I am such a fan of your acting.
AMC needs to get a good storyline going. It needs to move past the Cassandra moaning and Angie crying thing. Has there been one day that Angie hasn’t cried? I do hope Tad as well as other original cast come back. David needs to get more evil. Love the Billy Clyde story. I am now fast forwarding through AJ/Miranda and Cassandra. I like Cassandra but this story is hanging around way too long. The only thing that has my interest right now is Billie Clyde. Glad AMC is back and hoping for some great story lines from the new writers. Krystal needs to be running the coffee shop! Of the new actors, I like Cassandra and Lea. Miranda, AJ and Jane…not so much. Haven’t decided about JR.
I have to laugh, because you are right Kate, I love Debbi Morgan but she needs to stop crying hysterically through every scene as Angie – it’s like, I get the feeling emanating from her “this script is nothing to brag about (which it isn’t) so let me act my socks off to make it work” – she is great but some of these scenes come across rather forced.
I don’t think there is tremendous chemistry between the young actress who plays Celia and the new Petey Corland. I don’t hear anyone asking questions about them as a couple here so I don’t think anyone cares. That’s a sign from viewers that the chemistry isn’t really happening there.
Yes, Krystal needs to be there – I agree. In fact, many people from Pine Valley need to be there, but sorry to say it doesn’t sound like Michael Knight is exactly dying to hop back into Tad Martin’s shoes. I don’t know if the viewers will accept yet another re-cast at this point – in the early days, Tad was played by several young actors prior to 1983 when Michael Knight took over the role but I don’t think today another actor would be accepted as Tad Martin.
I had forgotten about Celia. We haven’t seen her for awhile. Colby and Pete I liked until the sex scene. I fast forward them unless they are talking to David. These shows are becoming 5 minute shows for me because I fast forward through a lot. I am keeping my fingers crossed that more vets return and the new writers turn things around.
Yes, and when I watch the “More” Show, they made it appear that many people enjoyed the unnecessary sex scene between Colby and Petey. The truth of the matter is, most fans OBJECTED to it – but they didn’t say that. I found it personally, not needed – stronger writing is needed, not a hot sex scene with groaning and moaning. I mean, we get it, we know Colby is now being portrayed as a sexy trampy get outa my way bitch kind of gal, we have imagination, they could show her kissing Pete and do a fade out, we know how it goes, we don’t need a “blow by blow” depiction, pun intended. As for Celia, pretty gal, cute personality but not the most memorable character to walk through Pine Valley.
I want to see Tad back and I would also like to see Janet and Marion, too. These characters added humor to the show.
Of course Michael Knight (Tad) is sorely missed. He, Erica & Jackson were such a huge part of the old show that it’s not the same without them. Hope to see him back soon!

I, for one. will be ready. He could move in with Opal, because Dixie might be crushing on Billy Clyde. Hahahaaa. All My Children has brought so much joy!
I miss him as tad Martin and would love for him to come back, I know his story lines have seen just about everything but with the new writers I am sure they can provide even better story lines for him especially with billy Clyde so if he comes back (which I really want) then yay! Let me say this…. Just as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west; Tad Martin will return. His character is an integeral part of All My Children. I am 100% possitive we will be seeing him one day. 🙂

I Can’t Wait for Tad to come back, then hopefully Erica will join him, then Kendall and Ryan, Greenlee too? Heck, I want them all back!! Glad to see Dimitri after soooo long, and hopefully Adam will return again. I’m not really thrilled with AJ’s and Miranda’s acting, but give them time, they may grow on me. The new JR and Pete are okay, but Colby is too full of herself. Other than that, Jesse and Angie, Zach, Opal, David, Dixie, Dr Joe, Brooke, and Bianca, Griff (where did he go?)and Cara..even Billy Clyde, are all as great as ever, and I’m so glad to see them all back on my show!!!

Would love, love, love for Michael E. Knight to come back and play Tad. Wouldn’t it be great if he came back and continued his living arrangements with Cara, and have Dixie be upset that he was feeling love towards Cara? I would love it. Either way, when he comes back, I hope he loves it so much, he decides to stay. We need more of the main core characters back for all the fans who have watched them for so many years. I can hardly wait till I see Michael/Tad back on AMC. Yea!
I’ve been a loyal fan since the mid ’70’s and I AM SO HAPPY to have more AMC, even in this mini-version. However, the show is definitely NOT the same without Michael E. Knight’s “Tad”. Not only is he the cutest guy, but he & Cady McClain/Dixie are the best and belong together. Plus, I miss his humorous quips. Also, Erica needs to return, at least for a visit, ASAP, to keep everything grounded and give Brooke a piece of her mind. Glad to hear Opal mention her “bestest buddy.” BUT WHERE IS JACK??? He is my 2nd favorite guy and I miss him a lot. Zach is amazing and so hot, but he REALLY needs Kendall, as does Miranda. Alicia Minshew should come and rule the show!

‘All My Children’ Movie Writers for Lifetime Revealed: Ron Carlivati, Jamey Giddens and Leo Richardson
This week began and as reported with a spotlight article on Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos and how their production entity, Milojo, has been teeing up the All My Children reboot with Lifetime.
The L.A. Times featured the married couple, co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark, and former All My Children cast members (where they met and fell in love) about their plans to bring two All My Children movies to Lifetime and how they are working with the Agnes Nixon estate to make it come to fruition,
On Wednesday, it was revealed by Daytime Confidential, that All My Children reboot producer, Andrew Stearn handpicked none other than Ron Carlivati (ex-head writer, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Days of our Lives) and Jamey Giddens (who is the new co-head writer of The Young and the Restless, following his tenures on the writing teams of Beyond the Gates and Days of Our Lives), as the two scribes who will bring the first of two of Kelly and Mark’s All My Children movies to the page.

RON CARLIVATI AND JAMEY GIDDENS CONFIRM THEIR BOARDING THE ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIE PROJECT
The second installment is said to be written by primetime writer Leo Richardson whose credits include: Star, Katy Keene and more recently the Penn Badgley (ex-Phillip Chancellor IV, The Young and the Restless) starring series, You.
Richardson also wrote for three years on the U.K.’s long-running soap, EastEnders. All My Children revival fans will recall Richardson’s name was attached as the writer for the first incarnation of the All My Children movies, entitled, Pine Valley.
Ron Carlivati took to X and confirmed he is indeed boarding the All My Children movie project. Carlivati shared, “So excited to share this news! Thanks to Andrew Stearn, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Albert Bianchini and the Agnes Nixon estate for entrusting Jamey Giddens and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime! Stay tuned!”

Jamey Giddens confirmed DC’s announcement by taking to his account on X and expressing, “I’ve been booked and busy in 2026. Thanks to Andrew Stearn, the Agnes Nixon estate, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos for entrusting Ron Carlivati, and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime!”
Some fans seemed to question how Giddens could be writing for the first All My Children movie at Lifetime, when he is the new co-head writer at The Young and the Restless with Dan O’Connor. Jamey answered that head on via X and explained, “We turned in our All My Children script months ago. My sole focus as of this past Monday, is Genoa City, Wisconsin! #YR”
ERICA KANE, MARIA SANTOS AND HAYLEY AND MATEO SANTOS TO APPEAR IN THE ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIE REVIVAL?
In the planned stories, Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane and Eva LaRue’s Maria Santos will be two characters whose lives we will get to see for the first time since the series was canceled by ABC back in 2011 after 41 years on the air. As well, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos confirmed they will make brief appearances on-screen; one could assume as Hayley and Mateo Santos.
“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos to the LA Times. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”

‘All My Children’ Revival Updates: Lifetime EVP Speaks on Why Proposed Movies are Great Fit, Mark Consuelos Wants To ‘Give Back’ to Fans
The All My Children revival via movies at Lifetime is still in the works from former series stars and marrieds, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, through their production company, Milojo.
The co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark were featured this week in a Los Angeles Times article which detailed their efforts to bring some of the citizens of Pine Valley back to your screens.
As previously reported, and reaffirmed by the L.A. Times, the All My Children movies will be set in the present day and focus on what beloved characters such as Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Maria Santos Gray (Eva LaRue) are doing now. In addition, Kelly Ripa confirmed that she and Mark Consuelos will also appear on screen briefly most likely appearing in their signature soap roles as Hayley and Mateo Santos.

ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIES BRING NOSTALGIA THAT CAN BE MADE TO FEEL NEW AGAIN
Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime, and Lifetime Movie Network said of the All My Children reboot, “Lifetime is always interested in shows that kind of tap into a powerful nostalgia that can be made fresh for today’s audience. There’s a whole generation of women that have missed these stories and these characters.”
As for working with Kelly and Mark on the Lifetime movie versions of the soap, “They’re exactly the kind of partners you want at a brand,” expressed Bryant. “They’re trusted voices because every day they’re talking to their audience, which, a lot of times, is our audience. They bring a real credibility and have an authentic point of view. You meet Kelly and Mark and kind of what you see is what you get, and I think they bring that same authenticity to their development standards.”
Albert Bianchini, executive producer for Milojo, says he knows All My Children is so wildly popular with the fans of daytime. That was punctuated when seeing it in person, and how the energy was off the charts back in January of 2025 when Kelly participated along with Susan Lucci, former head writer, Lorraine Broderick and casting director, Judy Blye Wilson in a conversation with Andy Cohen at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

“I’ve never seen a crowd like that in my life. People were lined up around the block, recalled the Bianchini. “Everyone wanted to know, ‘When is (All My Children) coming back? We want more.’ We got to see that in real life and Kelly got to feel it in real life, and it made so much sense. I just know that the minute it gets out in the world, people will want more and more and more. There’s just a love there.”
Kelly Ripa added that they are, “working closely with Bob and Sarah Nixon, who are also serving as producers.” She recalled, “She (Agnes Nixon) was so far ahead of her time. She covered topics that weren’t being covered. It was extraordinary the audiences that the show drew, and she served them real stories that were affecting Americans across the country but weren’t necessarily being represented anywhere.”
“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”
THE CANCELLATION AND STOPS AND STARTS OF ALL MY CHILDREN REBOOTS
All My Children aired on ABC from 1970 to 2011. It got a second chance at life when Prospect Park resurrected the show and brought it to The OnLine Network and Hulu for one season in 2013.
Recently, the series made a return through the estate of Agnes Nixon and is streaming internationally on BEONDTV and through their partnership with PlutoTV Canada with episodes starting in 1995. Fans hope original episodes will some day soon be available in the U.S. as well, but that could prove more difficult since ABC owns the rights to the episodes stateside.
Now 13 years later, while there is no word yet on a definitive production start date to the two movies at Lifetime, all the people involved seemed determined to make it come to life.

Starting on May 1, All My Children fans in Canada will be able to see classic episodes of the beloved former ABC soap opera when they stream on Pluto TV Canada.
Pluto TV picked-up the All My Children Channel that the Nixon family has created in partnership with BEONDTV +. The show which aired for 41 years on ABC and ended on the network in 2011, had so many memorable storylines and characters; the least of which is the enduring run of Erica Kane played by soap icon, Susan Lucci.
As previously reported, starting with episodes from the year 1995, which was the 25th anniversary of the soap. Pluto TV Canada viewers will be able to catch 8 episodes on repeat per day. With the success of the venture, the Nixons are hopeful that they will bring viewers many more years of the show to come.

In addition, 0ne week ago, during Susan Lucci’s visit to Los Angeles promoting her book La Lucci, she was joined by her former Pine Valley castmates, Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee, AMC, now Taylor, B&B) and Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, AMC) and the trio posed for a pic. At that time, LaRue shared via Instagram, “NEW All My Children channel streaming classic episodes 24/7 now on Pluto TV Canada! Fingers crossed to watch soon on Pluto US.”
That was also confirmed this week by TV Watercooler’s Jeevan Brar who took to X and expressed, “The All My Children channel begins streaming this Friday, May 1 on Pluto TV Canada.
