Michael Easton, Kristen Alderson & Roger Howarth To Return To General Hospital May 10th!

In a piece of news that many fans of General Hospital have been waiting to know, an ABC spokesperson released the following statement on the status of Michael Easton, Kristen Alderson and Roger Howarth with the show, revealing the trio will return on-air on May 10th.
The spokesperson related: “Kristen Alderson, Michael Easton and Roger Howarth will return to ABC’s General Hospital beginning May 10. Exciting storylines full of mystery and intrigue are planned to usher in the return of these actors that will lead to the answer of one of the most asked questions in Port Charles.”
As to who they will be playing when they return is anyone’s guess at this point, and no further details were announced at this time.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)
As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.
Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew. In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.
Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers
Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.
In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.
Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work. Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her. Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.
From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy. Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

Ellen Travolta Makes Another Return to General Hospital
If General Hospital’s Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) nuptials are on, you didn’t think Grandma Gloria Cerullo would miss out on the festivities, now did you?
Casting news from Soap Opera Digest reveals that Ellen Travolta is back taping scenes that will air the week of May 13th on the ABC daytime drama series. When viewers learned that Carmine Cerullo, was also on his way back to Port Charles, now in the face and body of actor George Russo, it only made sense that Grandma Gloria would join Grandpa Cerullo. Look for them both mid-May.
As most people know, Ellen is the older sister to John Travolta. She first make appearances as Gloria back on GH in the mid-90s. Most recently, she returned to the Quartermaine mansion to meet up with daughter, Lois (Rena Sofer) and granddaughter Brook Lynn for Thanksgiving in Port Charles in 2023. Michael Fairman TV interviewed Rena Sofer and Amanda Setton late last year where they shared what it had been liking working with Ellen, who remains very close to Sofer in real-life.

Amanda shared: “We fell in love immediately. What’s crazy is my maternal grandmother was Grandma Gloria. I had her till I was 30 and we were so close. She was really like a second mom to me. So, when I got this script and I’m reading “Grandma Gloria”, it was so bizarre. And then in meeting Ellen, she looks like my grandma – same haircut, same high cheekbones. It really did feel like I had a few days with my grandma. It was very, very special for me. Ellen is sweet, prepared, professional, talented and funny to boot. So, it was one of the best weeks I’ve had at work. I hope she comes back. My fingers are crossed.”

Now, we can’t imagine Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding day to be smooth sailing, in fact, expect just the opposite, but could it be Grandma Gloria who is ultimately the hero or the calming voice of reason for any pre-wedding jitters? Stay tuned.

I would love for the original Serena Baldwin (or at least the one I know of) to play Serena. I want Kristen back, but not as Serena. Bring in Carly Schroeder as Serena and KA as another character.
I was thinking Kristen could be cast as Lauren Frank. Spinelli is headed out of town soon to track her down, so the timing is close. Guess we’ll see!

Great idea! My other idea possibility would be that Kristen could come on as the daughter that Kate/Connie didn’t know existed (Troy’s “twin” sister). Of course, she and Michael would end up together, and it would create tension for Sonny and Kate/Connie to have their kids involved. As for Roger Howarth, hmmm, he’s too young to be Larry Ashton (Ned’s father/Tracey’s ex) or Jimmy Lee Holt (you know the Q heir that the writers have seemingly forgotten about, so how about making him Sam’s father?

Funny you would say that because without Ron and Frank at the helm, I could do without OLTL… For the sake of the genre I hope they do well and thrive, but I have no plans to revisit OLTL!
Roger just VOLUNTARILY did 4 weeks on OLTL.. he wasn’t obligated, he WANTED TO DO IT. Howarth has the power in his contract to do both shows, and since OLTL shoots every 5 weeks, Howarth can find the time to do so.. especially since he lives in NYC, not far from Stamford, CT.

Yeah, not okay with it at all. I really dislike ABC, and hate the fact that the actors are staying on GH. But that’s just me.
Not just you…I hate it too. I think ABC sucks – they took these actors/character as pawns to sooth the irate masses when THEY screwed everyone by cancelling the shows. Now that ratings are up up and way (thanks to the fans that never gave up) ABC wants to have their cake and eat it too. Not right. I know the actors are people and they may not want to move back east but for ABC to act like they are the martyred victims in the whole deal i not only appalling it is insulting to everyone.

I totally agree. ABC & GH should have told the actors that they couldn’t continue on GH. Even if they didn’t want to return to OLTL. It was great that OLTL let them use those characters! I plan to stop watching GH after all of this. I stayed around or the 50th but my time is up in Port Charles. Can’t wait to return to Llanview though!!!

Actually, no, I’m not excited for their return as different characters. I think it will be completely lame. Although look-alikes are a soap opera staple, one is acceptable, but three is ridiculous. Given the precarious state of soaps these days, you would think PP, ABC, and the actors could’ve worked something out that at least one or two could come back as their original character.

I am sick about this we get OLTL back only to lose these 3 to GH like please I feel they could have worked something out…and I’m tired of hearing they didnt want to do OLTL I’ve never heard that come from any of them thats been rumor spin……nothing on that official, I couldnt stand them on GH I found myself watching GH less and less and I am a week and half behind now after I catch up with the 50th and the nurses ball I’m going back to not watching GH I’m going to support PP OLTL and AMC……GH is off my DVR I just am Officially removing after the April stuff I refuse to watch those three on GH…..GH is going to be a distant memory to me! I know its irrational but I can’t help how I feel, i don’t think ABC gave those actors a choice I can’t imagine them not even wanting to do the reboot to finish the story out.
If they had wanted to do OLTL, they would have. End of story. None of them wanted to relocate back to the East coast for a half-hour internet show. Who could blame them?
If they had truly wanted to do it, ABC would have let them out of their contracts. But they didn’t, so they’re staying on at GH. That is just the way it is.

I think it’s a lame idea. They should have just let them go. I never watched OLTL. I thought ATWT was a much better soap. I didn’t like Roger much on ATWT at first, but got used to him. I liked him better when I started watching GH again a couple of months ago. Now that they have gone, let them be gone. The money would be better used keeping some of the older cast employed. Give Tracy and Monica more airtime…and by older, I mean established, but hardly used. I just started watching and have enjoyed the vets being used and some of the cast from the past paying a visit. My GH viewing will be short-lived if they screw this one up with stupid ideas. I love the writing, so am hoping for the best, but could do without their returns in different roles period.
In the past they have done this on other shows but it has always been a much longer time that went by. One awful stupid recast was Josh Taylor on Days having been so popular as Chris Kostichek coming back as Roman Brady. That is about the time I quit watching to my knowledge he does not have much screen time then they brought Wayne Northup the original Roman back as some evil doctor. I am sorry but I am not thrilled by this at all. And it has 0 to do with not liking the actors.
I remember that Kay/K my mother was Pissed when Josh came back as Roman Brady…….
@Justin I think it’s going to be a flop. Ususally ALOT of time goes by, years & years, in order for it to work. Coming back as new characters is dumb, they might as well go back to OLTL or see what else is out there.
I’m happy they are coming but not happy they have to change their characters. They move on and out west after oltl was canceled. The fans shouldn’t be punished nor should they. I will keep an open mind till May 10th.

These 3 actors have every right to start their new lives and they did on the west coast, then suddenly their world is turned upside down because OLTL decides to resurface. we’ll see what happens… I just want Carly and ??? (Roger Howarth) back to playing off each other because they have awesome chemistry.

Obviously you’re talking about the GH fans; OLTL fans have already been punished twice, once when the show was taken off ABC and once again now that they are back at GH and except for Roger, they won’t be appearing on the online OLTL. And after all the kvetching that went on with so many GH fans crying about how the OLTL 3 were taking over Port Charles. Ya gotta love hypocracy and the irony of the situation. This is mostly due to ABC mucking with things, including sabotaging PP’s efforts to an extent. From where the actors sit, it certain makes sense for at least Kristen and Michael to remain on GH, Roger said he was open to doing both shows. Once again we the fans get screwed over by ABC.
I agree with you. Both fan bases lose in this case. I wish abc and pp could have settle this better. Oltl was good. I wouldn’t mind seeing some crossovers. I think roger has done some fabulous work, I would hate to see his character gone.

I’m glad they’re returning to GH. I have no idea of the storyline, but I will leave that to the genius of Ron Carlivati. He and Frank Valentini have made me love GH. I am a fan of OLTL also, and I will miss them on there; but I’m anxious to see how GH will deal with all of this.
They are geniuses and have made watching GH so awesome…I love all 3 OLTL transplants…cannot imagine PC without them…..

I agree; I’m tickled they’re finally returning. I’m very happy for the actors that they get to keep their jobs, which they clearly love. I’m happy for GH for having 3 more talented actors in an already amazing cast, and I’m happy for the GH viewers. Can’t wait to see what Ron does with this, because he’s brilliant. 🙂

You should try and read the Lawsuit that has been filed. ABC was completely shady in how they got the 3 to sign their contracts and that is also in the lawsuit, you should try reading it, they are not there because they clearly love it as you say.

I think Michael Easton will be playing Caleb, but returning as a “healed” man. I feel this way because a few weeks back Alexis and Sam were talking, and Alexis mentioned Caleb, and Sam said that she understood how he acted the way he did because of his love for his wife, etc. Out of no where they bring him up again, and Sam is showing a forgiving, softer side towards him. It is for this reason, that I feel he will be returning as Caleb. Whether he returns as Caleb or not, I am just thrilled that ME will be returning, and I look forward to May 10, to see all three returns!!!!

I agree, ME is a perfect fit for a Cassadine (handsome, sexy, dark, and moody). too bad Sam is a Cassadine so I don’t think they will make him a Cassadine 🙁 . perhaps, they can re-write history and make Sam a non-Cassadine. 🙂
ME has already played 3 characters in PC/GH, I think they bring back his 3rd character, Caleb/Stephen’s Twin, Father Michael. He is the complete opposite of stephen. With Days having the Father Eric/Nicole story getting Hot, how how would it be with Sam and Michael’s foribben love.
I guess since I’m an OLTL fan, I find the three of them out of place on GH. I prefer to watch GH character-storylines, I loved the fact that RC brought back alot of the great legacy characters for the 50th, I hope they keep them there. I don’t care about new characters.. I care about characters who I know and have an emotional attachment to.
The OLTL characters might as well be brand new characters, because they have limited connections or attachment.. they’re only asset is their known thru their OLTL pasts.

Both KA and ME have already been back for taping this week, April 9th. RH will finish his OLTL taping this week so I assume he will be back to GH studio next week. More than likely, both KA and ME will be back for May sweep. RH may be back in May or July depends on which character he will portray.

If the OLTL actors can’t play OLTL characters.. they lose their appeal. Their value was their characters, can’t imagine watching ME play anybody but JMcB.
Just because they’re new characters and under contract.. doesn’t guarantee they’ll all stay for the long haul. It’s conceivable that storylines could dictate one or all of their exits, we’ve seen more popular core characters written off for storyline purposes.
And the biggest thing, is when/if GH is gonna get renewed for 2014, which it hasn’t yet.
That’s what I meant ans if they can’t return to GH as the same characters as they were when they left then I doubt if I’ll be watching much of GH. ABC/D Sucks
I really enjoy these actors from OLTL and other shows. They will be new characters, I hear, and I hope fans of OLTL and GH will embrace whoever they become. That is part of the excitement and pleasure of the genre. Come on, fans, let’s give them and GH a chance.
I would love to see Alderson as Scotty Baldwin’s daughter, but I would like to see Howarth as a new character. Oh! Wouldn’t it be something for Easton to play a resurrected Jason Morgan? It would keep him paired with Kelly Monaco!
If he comes back as Jason, would he need to cut his hair???? Also makes sense for Kirsten to be Serena; but is there enough story to keep her paying the bills and would it be a contract role or recurring? I say change their names and let them play the ppl they were!!

As much as I want them on OLTL, Michael Easton had already moved his family to the west coast and I understand not wanting to move them back – Good Luck Michael in all you do. I’ll miss them on OLTL but won’t bother to watch GH anymore, ABC sucks!!

It’s not a question of “ok”/”not ok”. There are so many components to this story and there is still so much information that we can only guess about that it is hard to have any feelings at all. The actors have a right to do what they feel is best for them, but we don’t know if they are compelled to return to GH because they signed contracts of a certain duration. We don’t know where they want to be. What they say isn’t necessarily the truth. I have worked in entertainment my entire life and every time I speak to the press, my message has been worked out ahead of time, even when and if I am trying to be spontaneous. I don’t know what really went down with ABCD/PP either, but it seems like after ABC screwed everyone involved by entrusting its entire daytime slate to a man who held it in utter contempt for over a decade and then threw a loyal, vocal audience away without thinking about the ramifications, that the ultimate villain in this entire mess is ABC and no amount of backpedaling or eleventh-hour crumbs thrown to the masses will make us feel better. Where is the statement from ABC that owns up to its mistakes and tells us we are valued viewers? I haven’t heard or seen anything, and at least PP is trying to honor the legacy of these shows and is trying to bring as much that is familiar and beloved to the table for the launch. ABC seems to want key actors, a licensing fee from PP, and the right to dictate schedules for sharing talent. I don’t understand their arrogance. I am not satisfied with the outcome of this “Llanview Three” debacle, but it is really irrelevant at this point, because I was only watching GH to ease the pain of the loss of OLTL and AMC. ABCD has not and continues not to show any respect for their viewers, the pimping of GH’s 50th across all ABC content notwithstanding. They have not returned any loyalty other than perhaps giving FV a larger budget to play with for the Nurses’ Ball. I think this entire debacle could and should have been avoided and it is unfortunate that a classy team like PP’s had to get shit all over while trying to give the viewers of the reboots what they wanted.

I completely agree with you!! ABCD has not ever shown any consideration or concern for the viewers and fans of the shows they cancelled. I turned to GH once my other shows were all cancelled 1.) my daughter watches it 2.) love the genre 3.) because of the cross over OLTL characters. I have hung on even through what I thought ridiculous story (vampire story from another cancelled show I never watched) because ABCD and PP couldn’t play nice and honor agreements. I personally don’t know how I will ever connect to the characters they will have in the future because they have already been established in story as Starr, Todd, and McBain with GH interaction!! What an debacle!!!!
Couldn’t have said it better!! Once again the viewers are the ones getting screwed .. by ABC!!!! I probably won’t watch GH anymore if they really are coming back as different characters. That is just so unfair to the fans!!!

Very well put, Jessica. I’d enjoy seeing Ms. Sweeney & Mr. Frons panhandling outside the NY ABC studios as they’re directly responsible for this confusion. After so much surmising by posters on different boards who don’t have the actual facts, I’ll just be ecstatic to have RH, ME and KA back on a weekday basis, no matter what roles they’ll be playing. Looking forward to the April 29 PP reboots as well as GH on May 10. Whatever happens, I’m sure we, the fans, will be pleased.

I mean come on ABC and PP he did do OLTL and he didn’t have to. I think they need to work that out for the fans. Now as far as Starr and McBain go I don’t care because I was not a huge fan of the characters.
if RoHo comes back as Todd, he will have an amnesia. GH cannot mention anything related to OLTL, so that is the only way to bring him back as such.

@Joliefan. I don’t want RoHo to be back as Todd neither because I don’t want any oltl baggage coming with his character. Anyway, I think RoHo is a powerful actor (as far as OLTL and GH concern). I think he did 4 weeks of OLTL in exchange for the rights to keep playing Todd at GH. GH probably wants to write new character for him (to avoid future legal issues). But if RoHo is hell bent on playing Todd, then I think GH will have to succumb into his demand. We’ll see if he actually rules both shows, when he’s back on GH.

Interesting since Stephen Clay wasn’t real either, he was an alias of Caleb Morley’s on Port Charles, where Michael Easton was before OLTL btw. I just want them to pay a little more respect to the Port Charles fans, the PC storyline was passionate and interesting, not the same old soap fare. I want Michael Easton and Kelly Monaco together, they have incredible chemistry but I’d rather see them as Caleb and Olivia Morley

Good to see them returning, altho I love them on OLTL. I don’t know why GH doesn’t bring them back in the same roles with different names. ie, when Kristen returns just have a voiceover announce “this character is now called ” whateer”. They’ve done screwier things on soaps, and this way they could fit back into the roles and storylines we loved them in. Would it be weird at first? Yes, but no weirder than getting used to a new actor playing a role,.

PP doesn’t own OLTL or AMC, they are leasing them from ABC.. if ABC doesn’t renew the lease, in 9 years they can start using those characters again. However, I doubt ABC has any soap operas on their network in 9 years.. if there is an ABC.

The only way this could work is if they come back as recast pf existing GH characters. Kristen would be perfect for Serena. Roger could be the new Steven Larrs, he worked beautifully with Robin Mattson. As for ME, well he already is Caleb/Stephen so thats naturally were TPTB will go with him. Thats does not mean though that Caleb could be a cassadine!! 😉

I am so Happy Michael Easton and Roger Howarth are returning. I really hope Michael plays a Morley or someone like a Morley. Don’t care what Roger or Kristen play.
I’m thrilled about this. Michael East on fit in way better in Port Charles than he ever did in Landview . and yes I watched both Soaps. Roger needs to be on screen with Laura Wright always. They are amazing together. And Kristen actually made me interested in Michael. I’d prefer they come back as their OLTL characters but I understand why they can’t and if this is the solution then I’ll take it.
Hopefully RH will be back just long enough to fulfill his one year contract with GH then he can return to OLTL where he belongs.

OLTL will likely recast Starr, since K-Alderson doesn’t want to come back. Seeing as Howarth just did 5 weeks and might be interested in doing more, they’ll probably wait for him and try to work around his GH schedule.
GH hasn’t been picked up for 2014 yet.. so recasting a pivotal character like Todd Manning would be a mistake.. if Howarth is available in a year. If Howarth tells OLTL he’s never coming back, then the character is likely to be recast.. because while he can be gone for periods of time.. he’s too key to be gone for too long.

It has been reported that they (( ALL 3 )) are being cast as Different characters, In an article it says Roger Howarth EX TODD, Kristen Alderson EX STARR, and Michael Easton EX JOHN to return to GH May 10th, ((Soap opera Digest))…..The character of Todd Manning is not “Pivotal” to GH……It amusing that you think that ABC/D & PP all bow down to this dude and that he is be all end all when it comes to GH and OLTL….OLTL survived just fine without him and we will again as he is EASILY replaceable Trevor St John proved that. GH survived with out him for 50 years….I really don’t think ABC is waiting to see what RH does before making a Decision on whether or not to pick up the series for another year or Multiple years…..
GH is on a perpetual production track; ABC doesn’t ‘pick up’ and renew it every year, because the network owns the show. So they don’t make a big thing of announcing renewals; it just keeps going. So it’s in the lineup until ABC says it isn’t. Which they haven’t.

ABC does renewals for GH every year and yes they usually announce it if they didn’t I would not have been able to find out that they renewed GH last year for one year on April 12, 2012, all the networks do. NBC announced when they picked up DOOL for 3 years, CBS announces when they pick up BB and Y&R for renewal, I have not heard anything about them picking up GH for a year or multiple years. Something would have been reported somewhere about them picking up the show if they indeed had renewed it.
I’m really excited to have them return to General Hospital, and I’m hoping that her and Michael hook up even tho she won’t be Starr but he needs someone in his life. And Carly needs the old Todd. And John needs to be with Sam.

Sure, Kelly wants to work with Jason Thompson; he’s a wonderful actor. But that doesn’t mean she wants to be paired with him, and even if she did — actors do not dictate story. Doesn’t matter if she wins an Emmy. Certainly not under Valentini. Guza let that kind of crap happen, but those days are gone.
Kelly has always made no secret of how much she loves working with Easton, so it’s not a matter of her ‘changing her mind’.
I LOVE the writing for Todd…I’m glad RH is back, but I will miss how great his writing has been. It just won’t be the same!

we dont know what the three really want there has been no statement otherwise. RH going to OLTL for the 4 weeks tells me otherwise(sounds like he WOULD BE on OLTL full time if HE COULD BE ). The other two chose not to go to oltl which is fine with me but RH going to oltl is very tell tale to me. I am not happy to see they will be on GH which is a really crappy show since Frankenron took over. I was a gh viewer since day one and in recent months it has really sucked. Fighting over three OLTL(by the way for me OLTL is and was and always will remain to be the better of the three shows that WERE on abc) when you have a cast BULGING at the seems is a little stupid. Whatever, I dont expect RH to stay past his contract expiration anyway he always moves around. I for one will not continue to watch gh ill stick to oltl and catch some amc while im at it.

Yeah, well, as someone who also works in the business, I can tell you that Alderson and Easton did not want to return. Howarth made a short-term deal so that he could return to GH unencumbered. Not a single one of them had any desire or intention to go back to the East coast permanently to do OLTL.
Roger Howarth is shooting OLTL RIGHT NOW.. so to say he doesn’t want to be there is incorrect or a ‘crackpipe’ fantasy!
Alderson and Easton are contractually obligated to exclusively to ABC, so we don’t know if they wanted stay on GH or go back to OLTL. Seeing as Easton was one of the first to sign up for OLTL 1.0.. tells me he doesn’t mind working online.

I followed them to GH because I was a Todd and Starr fan…I will not continue to watch them on GH because they obviously don’t care about their OLTL fan base! They just lost my respect!
They signed contracts with the show before One Life to Live was announced to be resurrected so they need to honor those contracts.
I respect your opinion Barbara but it’s unfair to say that “they don’t care about their fan base.” I am sure they are doing what is best for their families.
Say you have a job, and for whatever reason the job went “under” and you were lucky enough to get another one in the same line of work you did before with the same pay, and a year goes by and you are happy, you bought a house and got your kids established in school, then out of the blue your old job says “hey we are back, but we are located just a 1000 miles away but we want you back.” Not knowing if that new job is stable, you choose to remain where you are at because you are now established. I don’t presume to know what goes on in contract negotiations, but I imagine that this was a similar situation what the actors were going through. I am a huge OLTL fan as well as GH, but I do understand that the actors have REAL lives and must do what is best for them….in my most humble opinion 🙂

If they are not returning as John, Starr and Todd, then no, I am not excited. I cannot accept seeing these 3 actors play anyone else and if that happens it will probably mean I won’t be watching GH anymore.

I thought it was fun for the short stint to bring back Caleb. Quirky, fun, interesting. Cute way to bring on Lucy Coe too. but I was happy it was short lived. . . . I agree that they need to come back as the characters we all know and love… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Sorry but GH has been going downhill since they left and them returning as other characters won’t work for alot of us. I pretty much tired of watching GH. Most started watching it again because of Starr, John and Todd.

GH’s ratings went up because FV and RC brought GH back to its roots with actors and storylines rooted in the show’s 50 year history. Bringing on the three OLTL actors was lovely, and as a GH fan I think all three have added to the show. I am glad they are coming back. However, they are NOT THE show. To assume that GH has undergone a creative and ratings renaissance because of three actors from OLTL is, well, nutty and patently untrue. Just check out the ratings for the GH 50th and the Nurse’s Ball. These ratings rose in spite of the absence of the OLTL 3, and BECAUSE of the returns of: Genie Francis, Kin Shriner, Jackie Zeman, Jack Wagner, Rick Springfield, Vanessa Marcil, Ingo Rademacher… The survival and rise of GH has had NOTHING whatever to do with the OLTL 3, as good as they are; they are simply icing on the cake. “Most” did NOT start watching GH again because of these three. What planet are you on? “Most” started watching again because the new regime ended the focus on the mob, and because they brought back GH vets and GH classic storylines. THAT is the truth. “Most” started watching again because GH became GH again, for the first time in over a decade.
Your naive to believe their ratings did not increase due to those 3 actors going to GH. You will be sadly mistaking in the upcoming months when ratings slip. To much going on and the show is going in every direction.
Nancy, I am not naive. Unlike you, I am actually INFORMED. The ratings increased because the new regime ended the mob stories and GH vets were rehired. As a result, formerly-disgruntled GH viewers returned. It is just that simple. You OLTL fans really over-estimate the impact of these three actors on GH because, in your legitimate anger over the cancellation of OLTL, you cannot credit anything BUT OLTL with quality or legitimacy or value. The most important OLTL contributions to GH are Ron and Frank who returned GH to its roots. If your assumption were true, GH’s ratings would have dropped when the OLTL 3 left. The ratings did not drop, they went up. The rise in ratings is directly correlated to the change in storyline focus. The ratings started peaking during the Faison/Duke/Robert/Anna storyline, which had nothing to do with your OLTL 3. Next you’ll be insisting that the OLTL actors are more important to GH than Genie Francis, Jack Wagner, Kin Shriner, Lynn Herring….GH’s world does not revolve around OLTL actors, but around GH’s returning vets and improved storylines. GH fans are very happy with the show’s current direction. We will not be tuning out. The ratings will not be dropping. You worry about OLTL, and leave GH to its fans, OK? Our show is in superb shape, ratings-wise and story-wise. We are not worried and your sour grapes cannot dampen our joy at the resurgence of our show. You would do better to hope that the online version of OLTL survives because, my dear, GH is and will be fine.
