Michael Muhney Reveals He Will NOT Be Returning As Adam Newman To Y&R!

Devoted fans of Michael Muhney, and Y&R viewers who were hoping things could be worked out for the talented actor to return to the CBS soap opera and reprise the role of Adam Newman, got some disheartening news a few hours ago!
Muhney took to his official twitter account and posted this statement: “Just got an official call, although things got very close, I will not be returning to Y&R. That part of my life is over. Moving on…”
He also added in a follow up tweet: “I was hopeful for a return, but now I’m hopeful for the future. Now you’ll just have to promise to tune in to my future projects!”
Later a fan tweeted to Muhney if the reports surrounding his dismissal from Y&R were false, to which he replied: “Yes. It was only a salacious rumor.”
Michael was let-go from the series at the end of 2013, and since then The Young and the Restless has been moving forward trying to look for his successor in the role. It appears that Muhney was even in talks to possibly return to the role, but with his tweet tonight that is kiboshed!
There has been no word yet as to what actor will take over the role of the black sheep of the Newman clan, and if the show has truly found their man. Casting calls had continue to go out.
Meanwhile, in story the character of Adam has been spying on his wife Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and arch-nemesis Billy (Burgess Jenkins) as they are getting closer to keep the character on the canvas while the Adam recast is figured out.

So true. I have been watching since they showed the hands hoping it was Michael back at his game. This producer is so stupid she’s unreal. If Michael came back so would his fans & more. A new cast for Michael? Good reason to watch B & B instead. Lets face it CBS will never reconsider and the newbe will never cut it. Who the hell wants to see Lily continue acting like a 10 yr. old and lately all we get is Summer who can’t act & Austin.

I cannot imagine anyone else as Adam Newman, Michael was great. The new Billy is horrible, will have to wait and see about Phyllis. Been watching Y&R since inception and Michael Muhney was way better than the original Adam.
Those in the know knew he wasnt ever coming back. If there was ever a better example of burning ur bridges, this one is at the top of the list. Now maybe we can all move on.
I have moved on! Seemed to be a lot of smoke with MM left the series so I have to wonder. We may never know and really who cares?! Life goes on for this talented actor and for the show. (Although I would like Y&R to be better than it is right now.)
Since our love for Michael bores you maybe you should move on and leave his fans following him. Y & R won’t last more than 3 more years and when the contract is up so will their show. Maybe it will be the end of seeing the trouble maker Summer as well.

My gosh your so smart it’s hard to keep up with you. Your right I would love to see the show fail. I would love to see the likes of Eric B. Melody T.S. and Joshua M. unemployed, & I’m sure at some point I will not because they are bad at acting but because without any evidence one way or another they took it upon themselves to stick their noses in. As far as I’m concerned it was jealousy because back then Michael M., Billy M. along with Amilia &Melissa C.E. had the show and the complete attention of the audience. @IowaMan…I know two things…and this is where loyal fans come raining down on me…no matter!
He was accused of sexist/sexual harassment. That was never negated. So while it hasn’t been proven…it hasn’t been proven otherwise. I still believe that ANYONE…in the public eye or the private sector…who is accused of such an act would fight tooth and nail to have their name cleared, and would sue for defamation of character. I see no logic to it being settle privately as someone suggested above. Now, I’m not saying he definitively did it, but while there’s doubt…it’s not someone I would support.
Based on just the superficiality of appearance, I don’t see that he’s swoon-worthy.
I’m a GH fan. I love both characters…AJ and Lucky. Personally, I’m sorry that Sean Kanan left. If by any chance they resurrect the character, I’d love for him to come back one day if he’s free of other obligations. As for Lucky…I liked all the actors who’ve portrayed this character. Would again, love to see one of them return than a guy who’s accused of sexual harassment and who I don’t find attractive.

Just a correction: he was never accused of anything–sexual harassment or anything else (or at least, we don’t know), other than by gossip-mongers and scandal-speculators on the Internet. There were RUMORS that he had been, by a coworker, but to my knowledge, even those rumors were never confirmed by any reliable source.
So it could just as easily be that you did not see him “fighting tooth and nail to clear his name” because there was nothing to clear.
And if he’s telling the truth that he came close to being hired back on Y&R, you can rest assured he was never accused of anything. They’d never take that kind of risk–I don’t care how popular he was.
That said, I don’t see him as AJ or Lucky, either.
Maybe as an unknown son of Jimmy Lee but GH really dont need any new characters at the moment…

Thank you for the clarification Michael (not Fairman). I didn’t mean he was officially accused as in court…but the accusations were flying from somewhere. From what I recall TMZ reported it first…but …I’m not sure why they latched on to it. Believe it or not they’re usually pretty accurate. I guess it’ll remain a who…if anyone…dunnit!
Rebecca1, the accusations came from an anonymous source who posted a message in the Soaps.com Y&R message area. The person also posted on another web site, but refused to say how they supposedly got their information, refused to verify their information, then turned around and stated that Mr. Muhney allegedly groped Ms King a SECOND time, in front of Max Ehrich (Fenmore). If any of these alleged allegations were true, don’t you think someone from the upper echelon at CBS, Sony or Y&R would have said something? The ONLY thing that was EVER stated by an executive of CBS Daytime Programming was that they had spoken to JFP and Y&R, who had stated that the reason they had for letting Muhney go was that they were going with a new face for the character, via the storyline they were writing where he was burned in the automobile fire and needed plastic surgery, which is exactly what Muhney had been told by JFP when he was let go. The whole accusations bit has never been confirmed, by anyone, including TMZ and TMZ.com, and as a tabloid magazine who goes after a story, you KNOW if anything had been there to dig up, they would have gotten the dirt right away. Personally, I think the whole thing was a ruse by the show to try and ruin Muhney’s career so no other soap would get him. JMHO. BTW, I believe that the reason things fell through is that he asked CBS/Sony to not only clear him of all wrongdoings, but he asked for outs to do other shows. Considering none of the “good stars” like Elizabeth Hendrickson or Billy Miller were given “outs” for their contracts, I would image it was a sticking point for Muhney as well and Y&R wouldn’t do it. They’ll give to their newbies, but not to the actors we want to see on the air. Again, JMHO.

MM was the only Adam as far as I will ever be concerned, but if I was him I would not want to go back onto that set ever again. I was hoping he would be the one to replace SB as Jason on GH, I just can’t picture Billy Miller as Jason for some reason.
Even Steve Burton thinks Billy Miller is the perfect replacement. Get over it!!!

I agree. Heres the twist, though. They keep showing Steve Burton’s picture on GH with Sam. What they are going to do is alter Jason’s look and he will have to regain the ones he loves with a new identity but the same feelings as before. This will help the talented Billy Miller make Jason his own.

Actually, EB confirmed in an interview that he and MM did get into shouting matches and fisticuffs on set. rebecca1: I wouldn’t be surprised if MM negotiated a private settlement with CBS/Sony with regards to the negative press he endured as a result of the false rumors.
Doe a Deer–I think Su00 must be thinking of the fist fight which transpired between Peter Bergman and Eric Braeden.
According to an interview that EB gave AFTER the alleged rumors of groping came out, he stated that he and MM had “come to fisticuffs” after an argument about a scene.
From what I understand, there was never any fisticuffs involved, but Muhney has been outspoken about EB not saying his lines but ad libbing and other actors having to wonder where they are in the scene.
The bit about them fighting, however, seems to have come about AFTER this whole groping rumor, and AFTER EB had stated that he admired MM, thought him a good actor and so on and so forth. There was mutual respect between both men.
I know there had been a flare-up after a fan on Twitter sent a bogus tweet to Braeden that she stated Muhney made about him, which set EB off and he ranted at MM until it was straightened out, but they DID have mutual respect for each other until AFTER he was let go and the rumors came about. Then suddenly both EB and Jerry Douglas, who has never worked with MM before, did interviews on how horrible a person MM was to work with and the fight and so forth.
It was amazing how quickly some of the older stars jumped onto the JFP bandwagon against MM when this allegation (which has NEVER been proved or verified) came out, yet no one has ever apologized that I know of to the man for their very public vilification of him. Maybe they should. MM seems the type that, if he were in the wrong, would apologize.

Your right su0000, CBS is to blame. They have the # 1 soap and dont give a crap about how their fans feel. Why couldnt they release a statement about MM and EB. We as fans know that Eric is the king of the world there and I really dont have a problem if CBS just came out and said there was conflict between the two and its best if MM is not resigned. Thats it! No, they had to make Michael look like a perv and this Hunter King, although basically a child, went along with the whole thing because thats what “Grandpa” said was best for the show! When Hunter becomes a women she will be or lets hope she is ashamed of how she was played! I’m not totally letting her off the hook, though. I would have put Eric and Michael’s dressing rooms on the opposite side of the studio, let them act, which would be extra powerful, and recast JFP Disney squeeze!
I agree. They don’t give a damn about what the fans want. If they did, Summer (who can’t act) would be replaced and MM would be back at his role. CBS does not care about anything but the rating and once the contract is up hopefully the show will hit rock bottom and lets see how all the big mouths like MTS & EB along with JM & others feel then when they hit unemployment.

The allegations were written on a soap message board by a poster named SharonRocks and then circulated by the media with no source or evidence (salaciousness sells!). No charges were laid, no statement was issued by CBS/Sony or the alleged victim. If MM was rightfully fired for harassment why didn’t CBS/Sony confirm that? We don’t know if Michael and CBS/Sony negotiated a private settlement as a result of the rumor and negative press that ensued. Shortly after the firing MM, Eric Braeden (EB), and Kristoff St. John (Neil) confirmed there was drama on the set. EB said MM was on a campaign to have him fired and that they got into arguments. Producers thought it was best to get rid of MM to reduce the drama (and egos) behind the scenes. What they did not realize is that MM’s firing would cause an uproar and that recasting Adam would be so difficult. The fact MM was in discussions to return speaks volumes about the (false) rumor.

MM was not in a position to ask for stipulations. I don’t think Y&R ever intended to ask him back. His reputation precedes him; ask his Vetonica Mars co-stars.

Eric earned his status BUT he should have realized that having MM there would be best for the show and these two actors could explode in their scenes and make memories!

I never believed he would come back and already thought he was going to pop up on General Hospital any day. Y&R from what I hear is a MESS now. I haven’t watched since Muhney’s last day and don’t plan to again. The only thing that could ever get me back is Victoria Rowell & we know by now that isn’t happening either. The more important thing to take note of is that if Y&R was negotiating with Muhney, then the rumors had to have been 100% lies. I’m shocked he even gave them the time of day & considered going back.

They finally returned the agents call and said NO WAY, NO HOW ! That is the call he received. He can word it any way he wanted to on twitter. But it was NEVER going to happen! So now he is trying on his own to clear up his name. Well good Luck michael! But Your reputation precedes you.
Of course he wanted to, But according to TV guides michael Logan there were never any negotiations at all. He was never going to be rehired. He put that tweet out to make it seem as if it had been possible. NOT!!
Good heavens, folks, of COURSE he was hopeful about coming back! He didn’t ask to leave the job in the first place, he was STUNNED when they let him go (or don’t YOU read his tweets?)!
If you had a job you loved, and you were told that they were letting you go (right before Christmas, BTW) so they could give the character a new face (meaning a different actor, not you anymore) and it came out of the blue since you’d just signed a two year contract less than six months beforehand, wouldn’t YOU be “hopeful” when they call you and ask if you might want to discuss coming back with them? I’m sure MM did, and WAS hopeful that things would work out for both of them.
Saying that he didn’t get the job because of what he writes on Twitter is such crap by anyone who makes this kind of statement. You can’t read the tone or inflection of voice when something is in print. You put your OWN emphasis on the words and make it your own, giving it your own opinion.
No one but Michael and whomever was in the room with him knows what was said and done in the negotiations. The fact that he was THERE proves that Y&R was asking him if he wanted to come back, and the fact that he’s not proves that they couldn’t come to an agreement on terms only, not that they didn’t want him. There was either something they wanted that he said “no” to, or there was something he wanted that they said “no” to.
My opinion? He said no. Considering Y&R tried to get Billy Miller back, and they KNEW they couldn’t get Michelle Stafford back, you know they decided to go back after Michael Muhney to try and keep fans satisfied. They blew it, and I imagine that it was because of way too little, way too late. JMO, folks.

Judi, you just are another Muhney hater. Typical comments that they had no interest in him. Well, you’re flat out wrong. They did, but couldn’t come to an agreement to terms. It’s Y&R’s audiences’ loss. The show has suffered greatly since Muhney and Miller left. Anyone who is a true fan will admit that, but of course, Judi never could.

There is no way this was going anywhere it was dead in the water in December. Think Bob Barker/Price is Right CBS paid out tons of money in lawsuits for he said she said they were not about to do that with a soap actor who had been on the show for four years. JFP should have been shown the door for her gross mismanagement of the situation. A gag order should have went out to all cast members discussing it at all. The soap press did not go with the story because they knew TMZ would. Read Lynda Hirsch’s column on this back in January she is an honest journalist. Sad situation all the way around.

1. I remember Bob Barker/The Price Is Right. I also remember losing count after the first 3 lawsuits.
2. That NIGHTMARISH JFP shouldn’t have been hired as Executive Producer of Y&R at all!!!!!
3. Yes…a gag order should have been issued to the cast members of Y&R. But, eventually, those Y&R cast members probably would have found a way (or whatever) to ignore and/or to get past the gag order.
4. I have AT LEAST 4 or 5 female friends who TOTALLY L-O-V-E Lynda Hirsch’s column. And…one of them finds Lynda’s column to be informative, insightful and respectful. And another of my female friends once told me that BOTH she and her husband find TMZ to be UNREADABLE TRASH. I don’t care for TMZ all that much myself. Nope.
5. Most of all, it is a S-A-D SITUATION. But…I think it’s a situation that should have been handled A LOT better/differently. BOTTOM LINE!!!!!

I had watched since the first day it aired on TV but I haven’t watched Y&R since Michael Muhney WALKED… Always kept the hope until today that he would reprise the role of Adam (The Only Adam) in my opinion….Since Michael tweeted that he is moving on, I for one will stand by him on any adventures that he chooses to be a part of…He is a exceptional talented actor, to me he is the best and I love him.
Lori, Michael would not do for you what you choose to do for him. Its admirable but your hurting yourself by not watching Y&R. Granted the show has been horrible and they struck out twice in recasting Billy, but the show will recover and you should to.
Sony could place him at DAYS!
He could play Peter Blake. He could even play the son that Tony DiMera never knew he had with Anna. He could even play EJ!!!
Another possibility would be the son of Neil and Liz Curtis!
If he really was in talks with Y&R with the possibility to return there, it’s not inconceivable that he could be placed on a strict probationary period at DAYS. It would be a huge win for MM fans, DAYS and Sony!!!

It doesn’t what is said…don’t forget that actors and networks all lie about these contract negotiation things and other “behind the scenes” stuff. It’s just what they do. So you can’t believe any of it. It’s fun to speculate, but I doubt we’ll ever know the truth.
As for Eric Braeden, I had a long interview with him on the phone years ago, and he couldn’t have been nicer. Of course all actors have egos, but he was one of the few that actually asked me about myself and wanted to talk about other things besides the show or acting (politics!). Michael Muhney was kind enough to let me send him interview questions via email. I’m grateful to them both.

I am not happy Michael is not returning back as Adam. He is the only one for this part. CBS has not listen to the fans and what they wanted for awhile now. It is there downfall. I cannot believe that Y&R did not jump at the chance to have Michael back. The show is so boring now. I put it on every so often just in case Michael is back. This is a show that was always number one and is now sinking fast. Y&R you blew it big time!! You might as well let Adam disappear because nobody else will be accepted as Adam Newman.

While I am extremely disappointed that Mr. Muhney will not be returning to the role he made his own, and truly made me fall in love with, I’m happy that he was able to put the rumours and speculation to rest. Y&R/Sony/CBS probably backed out at the last minute, and/or Michael felt the deal wasn’t enough. I will follow him wherever he shall goes, and I especially hope it’s another soap (such as Days of Our Lives).
As for the recast of Adam, it’ll be hard to replace the under-rated talents of Muhney; I could see someone like Jon Prescott (ex-Mike, ATWT) to be cast as Adam 3.0, even though I’d adore him as well as Lucky 4.0 on General Hospital. My other top choice would be Matt Bomer (ex-Matt, GL; ex-Neal, WC), he has the look and extreme acting chops to cut it on a soap opera. And then maybe, just maybe, they could jump and play a bit more with Adam’s bisexuality (or bicurious sexual orientation).

I couldn’t agree more. I stopped recording and watching regularly after BM & MM left. However, I check the TVGN re-runs occasionally, and it is so boring. It seems to have become the Winters clan and HK show. I may be alone but I have zero interest in Lily’s screeching and Summer’s angst. I don’t recognize this show now, the writing is just atrocious. 🙁

I am so disappointed. I knew the rumours weren’t true – I met Michael when he was in Toronto and he was so lovely and friendly to all his fans, particularly my granddaughter who was 8 at the time. Y&R needs him back-the way he was let go was awful and the fans will not settle for anyone else playing Adam Newman. Is this really the end? So shortsighted on the part of TPTB at Y&R.

I want Michael Muhney back he’s the best I’m really gonna miss him
I am one of Michael Muhneys greatest fans. I think he has more talent in his little finger than any actor left on Y&R today. Eric Braden is a joke, a has been. He should have been fired when he hit Peter Bergman in the mouth. He is the one that can’t get along with the co-stars and he thinks he is Bill Bell and can call all the shots. He needs to retire. I watched the very first episode of Y&R and watched my last episode on Jan. 30th, the last day Michael and Billy aired. It was a well written story and both actors delivered and both deserved to win an Emmy and share equally. Billy would not have won if not for Michael’s part in the story.
I, just like all the other Muhney fans held out hope he would return. But Michael is such a class act and let all his fans know, Adam Newman is a thing in the past. He will not be returning. It is time for him to move on to bigger and better things.
He has already made a Christmas Movie and I cannot wait to see it. I know it will be wonderful.
It is time for this talented, gorgeous man to move on to other movies or possibly a Primetime show. If he returns to Daytime this fan will follow him wherever he goes. GH would be a good place for him to go. He could play any role and have the fans fall in love with the new character all over again. Whether a good or evil character. All I can say is…It’s Y&R’s loss.! I wouldn’t want to be the one to replace MM..They can’t and won’t find anyone who can play the part anywhere near as good as MM. Whoever he might be, he’s doomed before he even starts. I do wish all the best to MM however. He’s an exceptional actor! Wherever he goes, he will be a great asset..I will be keeping him on my radar to see where he goes. When they got rid of him and BM, they also got rid of me. MM should be thrilled to move on from that mess of a show. The liars did all they could to slander this man and I see some ignoramuses are still spreading the lies even after the man has come out and said they were salacious rumors. NO ONE at Y and R was ever on the record claiming this man groped Hunter’s boobs. It was all slide comments by people like Melody and Doug claiming there was more to the story without ever saying what the more was. TMZ put out a story with no SOURCE from Y and R to back it but the ones who wanted it to be true grabbed on the lies and ran with it. Not even Hunter has been on the record saying this is true. I wish MM the best; he is way too talented to be wasted on a show that writing of late has been sub par.
PS: I knew the rumors were FALSE when the woman he worked with the most stood by him. Sharon Case is a class act. No way she would support MM if he harassed a young lady. It was all about egos EB and MM. EB I am sure was upset many in the business felt MM was the new and improved Victor and I am sure MM walked around like a peacock on that set. lol
I think the “more to the story” was MM and EB getting into shouting matches and physical fights and that MM was campaigning to have EB fired from the show because he thought Adam should be the lead on Y&R (that’s what EB said in his interview shortly after MM was fired). MTS and DD were probably worried that their jobs would be on the line too if MM was successful in getting rid of EB. Everyone assumed they were referring to the (false) allegations that surfaced but as more info was revealed about the backstage drama, I am convinced it was a clash of egos and disruptions on set that led to the firing. TPTB thought they could easily find a new Adam so they decided to fire MM. Interestingly, the recent casting calls for Adam (issued under “Aaron Newton”) are almost word for word the casting call that was issued for “Josh Williams” back in October 2013 – before MM was fired. Seems they’ve been looking for a new Adam for a very long time…

I’ll venture a guess that the new Adam has been cast, and MM has been liberated from any remaining shackles YR placed on him. I rather glad its officially over. Quit the show several days after his firing due to being repulsed by the rumor game incited by the likes of DD and MTS. Rumors always have struck me as viscous way to destroy someone, when you can’t do it legally. Soon after his firing, I was shocked to find myself on a team by default. Never ever saw a show go out of its way to isolated and degrade fans. Thankfully as a relatively newish viewer quitting was easy, and now am free forever from YR. Now its time to look forward to MM’s new projects, which hopefully will be many.

They fired him because he and his co workers did not get along; EB and him were constantly having verbal spats on Twitter so I am sure they fought also in person. Clearly EB being the SR at the show got preference and they let MM go. MM said in his interview with Branco it was hubris that got him in hot water. Some did not want to hear that; they were too busy salivating over the idea of this man groping some young woman’s breast. NO ONE at Y and R has ever ever stated on record this rumor was true. I don’t get what folks expected MM to do. He was placed in a bad situation by folks spreading rumors without leaving their hands dirty. Who was he to sue????? I guess he could have gone after TMZ but anyone who works in this field knows how difficult it is to sue these gossip mongers when they use the word ALLEGED.
If this story was true Hunter King family would have stated on record it was true when their kid was being harassed by fans. They would have pressed charges on MM but they have not even stated there was truth to the rumors. If my teenage daughter was accosted twice by some older guy at her job, trust I would not only scream it for the world to hear about but I would make sure the guy was arrested at least to have that on his criminal record.

You do realize that not all sexual harassment cases wind up in court actually the majority of them don’t. Most of them are hanled internally and one party is usually disnissed.
As for MM still working as lomg as when he wrapped up his story while HHK wasn’t on set it can be done.
As for her family not suing maybe with all of the harassment her family didn’t want to pile on more publicity by dragging this out longer. His firing may have been enough for her.
When all is said and done be is gone and not coming back. Sony won’t rehire him so Days is out, and with his reputation for not getti g along with costars and insulting TG a couple of years ago I doubt he will go there.

I don’t get how or why a deal could not be reached to have MM return… it’s so clear how many fans of the show want him to come back, and yet he isn’t… It’s very disappointing because since MM and BM left Y&R, the show has gone only down hill. Even stories that are supposed to be dramatic and intriguing, like the Nikki/Ian trial and now what’s going on with Neil getting electrocuted, it’s all falling flat for me.
The only actor I could see replacing MM in the role, and doing a great job, is Trevor St. John. As for MM’s future… It would be great to have him on GH but the show really does NOT need a new character now, and unless A.J. was secretly kryogenically frozen when he died and can be brought back, I don’t want another return-from-the-dead story. Plus, with the current Sonny/Ava story, I can’t see the writers bringing A.J. back, because if he is alive, it reduces what Sonny did to attempted murder instead of the full thing, putting him on unequal footing with Ava, who definitely killed Connie and there’s no way of getting around that. So I think A.J. being dead is best right now, story wise. After all, it'[s one less character to write for.

You may be vocal on the message boards, but please don’t pretend you’re the majority. I’m sick of reading it. It was bad enough, but you got David Tom fired from the role HE created, and I can’t forgive that. STOP bashing the producers of this show when actors voluntarily quit or are fired. As far as Muhney is concerned, It’s plain stupid that anyone would believe a relatively new actor over the rest of the cast who have been on the show for decades. Enough already. CBS did respond to the rumors by stating they don’t respond to rumors. Why? Because it was A RUMOR. Duh, but ppl wanted to believe a rag like TMZ instead. By not hiring MM back as Adam, Y&R shot themselves in the foot. Now that the word is out that they did not negotiate, the fans who were hanging on awaiting his return will now tune out. Ratings will continue to drop. I assume JFP gave both MM & BM lowball offers so she can say they turned her down so she can hire another one of her unemployed friends instead. It would be in line with her tactics.
Ratings will recover. I think once the Phyllis story line really gets going and NuAdam starts up the numbers will climb back up. Also Y&R isn’t the only show facing a summer slump ratings wise.
We will see what happens in the fall.

At this point, there’s no way he should return. The viewers who are bitter over his departure aren’t going to forgive all the show’s flaws and will likely just start complaining that Adam is victim to the same poor writing as most other characters. Behind the scenes, it would be a nightmare for everyone. How awkward would it be… Whatever happened, for some reason the powers that be decided it wasn’t a good idea for Michael Muhney to be employed on Young & the Restless. It’s time to accept that — not necessarily like or agree with it, but accept it — and move on.

‘Neighbours’ EP Jason Herbison on Series Daytime Emmy Nomination: “It’s a Huge Honour to be Nominated Alongside Such Iconic US Daytime Dramas”
When the 51st annual Daytime Emmy nominations were revealed last Friday, the iconic Australian soap opera, Neighbours, made the grade as one of the nominees for this year’s Outstanding Daytime Drama Series going up against U.S. titans such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless et al.
That is because the revival of Neighbours, which is now seen in the United States streaming on Amazon Freevee, is now eligible under the rules from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
Not only did Neighbours receive its first Daytime Emmy nomination for Drama Series, but also for one of its legendary stars, Guy Pearce, who returned for a stint in the revival as Mike Young. Pearce is nominated for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series.

Throughout its run, Neighbours has received several nominations and wins in Australian and the UK, with this being its first nomination in the U.S.

For those who need a bit of a refresher on the revival of Neighbours. The series streams exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the UK and U.S. and on Prime Video in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. New episodes air daily Monday-Thursday on Amazon. The new series launched on 18 September, 2023, and picks up two years after the finale left off. In Australia, Network 10 retains first-run rights in Australia for the new chapter of the series.

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot
When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.
In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?
Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.
Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.” Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

Sean Kanan’s Stepdaughter, Juliet Vega, to Appear on The Bold and the Beautiful
Coming up on this Friday’s April 26th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Juliet Vega, the stepdaughter to Sean Kanan will make an appearance on the CBS daytime drama series in the role of Michele.
Keeping it “All in the Family”, the character is named after Juliet’s real-life mother, and Kanan’s wife, writer and producer, Michele Kanan.
Back in 2012, Sean married Michele Vega and thus began their blended family which included his daughter, Simone, and Michelle’s children, Peter, Gigi, and her twins, Annie and Juliet.

According to a B&B show spokesperson, Juliet’s B&B character is intentionally named Michele in honor of her mother and Sean’s wife.
While we don’t know how “Michele” shows up in story, it is the same episode that Clint Howard makes an appearance as well seemingly tied to the case of where in the world is Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown)?

We can’t imagine that Juliet wouldn’t get the opportunity to mix it up on-screen with her stepdad, Sean Kanan. Previously, the two acted together in Sean’s streaming series Studio City, where she played the role of Delilah and he played soap actor, Sam Stevens. In it, Delilah is the bio-daughter Sam never knew he had.
