Today fans are watching the season finale of One Life to Live, which is historic in its own way.

The series finished a 43 year run on ABC, and then was moved to the Internet, not without plenty of drama surrounding it and to this day.  This iconic series, along with All My Children, broke new ground in bringing shows and reviving them online.

However, as the curtain comes down for season one of One Life,  and AMC in a few weeks on September 2nd, the New York Daily News reports that according to Prospect Park’s CEO Jeff Kwatinetz, there were lessons learned a long the way.

The item also states this: “The Prospect Park production company’s The Online Network (TOLN) says both will return at an unspecified date for a second season. The network says both have been successful enough for to justify continuing.”

“We have tackled more business, creative and logistical challenges than most shows experience in a lifetime of production,” said Kwatinetz had stated in a press release that went out a on August 1st and was told in the story in the N.Y. Daily News.

So what are your thoughts on the first season of One Life to Live and All My Children? Are you hopeful and excited for a season two?  Comment below!

wary about the “unspecified date…”

WHY will there be any kind of a break in episodes??? I know there was a worry about production due to a labor dispute, but that was resolved, and last I heard everything was on track for season 2 to roll out on time!!!
Makes absolutely no sense what so ever!!!!

It’s been a struggle at times to get all the episodes watched, especially as TOLN kept changing the release days. I prefer the 1 a day, M-Th release days. I just recently got caught up by doing a little marathon of both shows and am about ready to watch this weeks episodes after I watch GH.

I agree with Rebecca1, makes the whole thing sound kind of sketchy to me. I have also been reading where some of the stars are heading to a new show (Natalie and others) so how does this work? Guess we are back to square one with more questions than answers. 🙁

It is the way internet shows work, they have season breaks..
Our soaps belong to the internet now..
all is well, have no worries.. No need to panic.

People have to realize the soaps are no longer network tv soaps, and they will not be the same schedule wise..
You have to adapt to internet and the way it works and put network tv behind you 🙂

Perhaps in the future the soaps will go to cable tv, but I do not see that happening in the near future..

unspecified huh….doesn’t make me happy to hear that. Why can’t they specify?

I don’t mind hearing that the return dates are unspecified at all(well maybe a little),but I think everyone would feel better,if the return to production dates were announced.

Prospect Park, thank you for hanging in there & bringing both shows back! I have been a loyal fan since I was a kid in the mid 1970 & early 1980’s.
these shows are Great & I couldn’t be happier. I only wish they were both on 5 days a week
Like before.

AMC is returning for production in the early part of Sept. People say maybe next year, who knows. I think they will be back before then but again who knows. As long as they are going back to production, that is fine with me. They had originally said they had something like 120 episode for the year. That is far from 365 which is almost what the networks had. We have no choice. I still love them and am thrilled every time I can see them.

Nancy,

The networks only aired them 5 days a week, and with holidays and other reasons for not airing a new episode, the count was probably more like 250 episodes a year.

I just look forward to the beginning of the new season. Many network and cable shows (primetime) now only air a very short season anymore and then we have to wait eight or nine months for the new season to begin.

what about One Life To Live?

I think they should air One life to live on OWN network and forget about online! They would get higher ratings if if were back on TV and I think fans should message Oprah and ask her to please allow it to view on her TV station!

No. Not everyone has cable, and I can’t stand Oprah. I wouldn’t even want to subscribe to her channel if I did have cable.

Theirs not enough Todd and Dani Scenes and I don’t like the fact Dani seeing a older man that is not soap Todd and Tea should be together Tea brings the best outta Todd the Humor part and rage part they make viewers feel todd only love Star he didn’t make a hard effort to reach out to Jack & Dani

Okay I’m confused. Wasn’t AMC supposed to go back into production today???

They were supposed to, but they have not yet gone back into production.

I thought they had taped enough shows to keep going for a while longer?

They finished taping in June and the episodes they’re talking about are the ones we are seeing now through the finales.

Yes I am excited for “One Life to Live” 2.0 season 2, but do wish they had been more specific regarding its premiere date. Leaving it open-ended like that gives me slight concern. As for the season 1 finale, I had predicted the big reveal and cliffhanger but in no way did that take away from the powerful jolt it left upon me. Very proud of the cast and production team, and all I could wish was somehow to be a part of that family moving forward on season 2. Llanview has always been a dream of mine, so who knows maybe that dream will come true someday. Thanks Michael Fairman for being the #1 spot for all things OLTL and SOAPS 🙂

Very disappointed in season one of OLTL as a whole. I did find a few bright spots just a few. I really hope season two has better writing. If the writing isn’t any better for season two, I don’t even think a return by Victor and Todd could keep me interested.

I’m disappointed in this article, as it’s mostly a fluff piece. I am really into soaps, and followed the resurrection of both shows as Internet properties very closely, so I was interested to learn what lessons they had learned–if they had learned any–what changes might need to be made, and where they thought things were going from here. The article Pretty much says “lessons were learned” and the only example cited (which many people still doubt PP’s sincerity on, me included) was cutting the shows (which still appears to have been better for their budget than it was for viewers at the end of the day) to one hour per week like a prime-time show. This could have been such an interesting article about new media and the future of entertainment, and how this company (PP) and these shows are paving the way for future content , but it wasn’t. And they definitely didn’t talk with “the producers” to learn lessons, not really. That would have been candid conversations with Ginger Smith and Jennifer Pepperman. Instead, they talked more with the “owners,” no matter what their title, and frankly, all we heard was more of the same PR stuff. These shows genuinely ARE pioneers in the future of entertainment, but this was not the article to document it.

WHY is OLTL’s season ending today, and AMC’s not for a couple more weeks?
Didn’t they both launch at the same time?

Why the break between end of season one and start of season two?

SO CONFUSED!!!!

I think it’s because OLTL was in the middle of their tapping when they stopped tapping do to the labor stuff AMC filmed all their stuff so once again OLTL gets the short in of it and all the focus will be on AMC surprise ,surprise

Fran I totally agree with you. There is always more focus on AMC & I don’t understand. I have followed both soaps for 40 years & OLTL has always took a back seat to AMC. I am a big, big fan of OLTL. Michael can you answer this question. I know you are a OLTL big fan.

This is true, but actually AMC got the short of it when they were cancelled.Oltl got 4 1/2 more months on ABC.Hopefully the actors will be back to work shortly.

All My Children and One Life to Live are on a certain filming schedule that means all my children films for 3 weeks then one life to live films the next 3 weeks. When production stopped all my children was in their 3 week rotation so they had more episodes filmed than one life to live

AMC had one extra week of taping. They started first. One week of taping can equal 3-4 weeks.

It will be nice when we hear the actors are finally back on set

After watching the season finale, the only thing I can say is, when does the new season start?? This was some amazing bunch of cliffhangers!

By the way, is there any further word on the TOLN/ABC lawsuit? regarding OLTL?

The article said;

“The Prospect Park production company’s The Online Network (TOLN) says both will return at an unspecified date for a second season. ”

so, season 2 will star at an unspecified date..

PP will send us an e-mail for the start date, and by the regular means..
We just have to wait for it 🙂

I think Trapper got that. When does the new season start??! Like, I can’t wait!

lol
only PP knows when season 2 will start, and they are not telling us, not yet..
we just have to wait it out 🙁

Haven’t heard anything on the lawsuit…

The lawsuit with ABC has nothing to do with the shows having a break between seasons

I was responding to Trapper’s question, “By the way, is there any further word on the TOLN/ABC lawsuit? regarding OLTL?”.
I understand it has nothing to do with the break.

Very hopeful and excited. Looking forward to season 2 with great anticipation.

Looking forward to season 2 and Michael Easton’s John McBain. He is sorely missed.

Hell yes he is! We want Easton back as McBain working with Bo and solving cases with Natalie.

Do not be dismayed if when they bring back John McBain it is NOT Michael Easton

Love OLTL – Bring Season 2 on – I’m ready! Love watching on Hulu, my first experience with it and I love it!

John McBain (original or recast) needs to come on Season 2 to rescue Natalie from Allison Perkins and solve this mystery with the symbol – Bo needs help!

Yes Tali he does indeed. Please TPTB make an effort to get Easton back on the show in some capacity. He is desperately needed.

Good idea!

NuJohn and Roxy would be great!

Yes to John no to a recast…..original recipe John please!

I agree, season 2 + and John McBain please!!!:)

They cannot bring back Easton if he does not have the time out from his GH schedule. Fans may have to accept a recast

I don’t want them to be a web series and PP to step up and do what they said in the beginning. In the same format.Soaps are not web series…

The 2 soaps are indeed ”web series” .. lol ..
Media is rapidly changing to digital/internet and that is what AMC and OLTL are now, they are web series.
There are changes.. Formats will need change / adjustments made…
I am so happy the soaps are back and doing well! 🙂
The soaps are Block Busters, awesome!!! 🙂 Both rose from the grave..
I also like the internet convenience !

Someone needs to get PP to talk details. Why did the number of episodes really get cut back? Why the sudden switch to seasons? I’m sure it’s all related to the bottom line but it would be nice to know. It’s pretty obvious that the shows are not as successful as PP had hoped they would be.

Probably because the season finalies would have been two months ago if they hadn’t scheduled them this way.
I think they have been successful, and even if they go away again,it’s GREAT that they actually came back for as long as they did.

I thought they answered that. The production schedule was too much for the crew and writers to handle. So they scaled back in order to give us quality shows over quantity.
They said from the beginning this would be a ‘work-in-progress’ and they would adjust as things came up. I think that is why they decided to go with seasons.

Maybe they need to raise funds now to meet budget demands. Even for actors money does not grow on trees!

I guess it couldn’t be helped, but I wish there hadn’t been quite as many lessons learned (and mistakes made) as they had. As I count, they had the wrong headwriters for both shows who were fired before the first month of shows had aired, the cursing and rough language had to be scrapped, they had too many episodes airing each week, and they made some story decisions that alot of viewers didn’t appreciate, like focusing more on the newer characters at the expense of the veterans. I’ll be happy to see the shows return whenever they do return if TOLN has learned from all these mistakes. I can’t help but feel that when I watch the shows now, I’m watching episodes where they scrambled to address some of the problems, and as a result, I don’t think these episodes flow as well as they could or should, for both shows. But with any luck, they’ll do much better in the next season.

I disagree.

YOU would think they would know general idea when Season 2 would begin ,They don’t want to wait too long fans will forget about OLTL if they wait too long. They need for actors to do interviews, tweet and or promos for Season 2 to keep it fresh

Fans will be eagerly be awaiting their return..
I waited for Revenge, Scandal, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and a list of my favorites to start their next seasons every season with anticipation..
And I will do the same waiting for the soaps 2nd season.. 🙂

Agree with you on Breaking Bad hate that it is ending one of the best shows ever great writing ,acting they never have skipped a beat. Glad I have all the episodes on DVD so I can go back and remember when. And to think Bryan Cranston got his start on Loving years ago. All shows will get viewers if you do them well.

really sucks that soaps have season finale………when they come back, it should be Mon – Thur…. Once a week was not enough…..

Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty all great soaps that also had season finales

I am slowly getting over some of the recasts, but on the whole I am thrilled to have them back as I had watched them both from day 1 and was devastated that they were cancelled. Sometimes it is a pain watching on-line as I frequently have connectivity issues, but I am just happy to have them back. The stories are as good as ever (but the Todd/Victor one is a might confusing) & please bring hem back soon!

I thought that season one for OLTL was totally awesome and I can hardly wait for the next one. It is so good to see this show again. I am having a great time!

OK so I am going to give PP the benefit of dougt here, I even don’t mind the two shows on the same day deal. For me it’s like watching anything else I enjoy during the week, just 1 hour. But PLLLEEEAASSSSE, let’s get the ball rolling folks, season 1 ends, then season 2 needs to begin, this is daytime, not prime time. New OLTL shows NOW. Thanks for reading

Sorry,, but to correct you;
The soaps are definitely not ‘daytime’ ..
Daytime is for network tv soaps..
The internet soaps are now- anytime anywhere.

PP has given us our soaps 24hr a day, any day anywhere.
so if one were to watch them at 8pm/prime-time, then they would be prime-time.. lol:)

Any way TOLN and Prospect Park can keep our shows happening, I am in support of. Of course everyone wants it on TV 5 days a week rather than an unspecified season, no need to reinvent the obvious, people! Again, no need to reinvent the obvious and continually whine about it too. Not productive. Because unless I missed some HUGE BREAKING NEWS today where ABC apologized for the error they made in canceling All My Children and One Life to Live in the first place and are putting both shows back on starting immediately, Prospect Park is the only production company In Our Corner right now. Work with them.

these so called fans need to stop complaining & be thankful for what we have……………

Exactly.

I agree!
why do some need to bitch whine and complain when the soaps are FREE and available to them at their will, geezus (( low tolerance for ungrateful people..

There is a huge difference between a network tv show and a web series that comes and goes with no definite schedule. These shows were not commercially viable 52 weeks a year in an hourly format. I am not watching online but maybe soaps have found their little niche. Personally I have found better programming to keep me busy but glad loyal fans enjoyed them.

I’m not complaining because I love both shows and appreciate PP bringing them back and I will watch wherever I can but I just want to have a date when Season 2 begins. Please!

Yes, there is a huge difference between network shows and web series. You cannot say that you have personally found better programming if you have not watched these shows online (or on OWN). How can you compare them if you have not watched them?

I just wish we had some idea of when they’d be back. If they must do the seasonal format I wish they’d show AMC for a while, then OLTL and so on so we have one of the shows all the time.

Well, since this is a 1st run, never done before project, I guess a standard will be set for the soaps seasons when all is worked out and done for the 2nd season.
”’signed sealed and delivered thing…

PP is not putting their butts in the wringer by stating a date they might not be able to keep and will tell us when they are solid for the 2nd season release..
I would guess and hope by mid fall …
keep an eye on twitter, that is where updates will be seen..

The season ending cliffhanger with Allison Perkins was GREAT !!!The writing for season 1 of OLTL wasn’t as good as AMC but started to pick up toward the end–hoping for a quick return for season 2 with a little faster paced stories !!

I agree. The writing for AMC has been better than OLTL. It did pick up toward the end of the season. I’m sure witht the new writers, it will be better. I can’t wait til Season 2.

LIFE is outstanding, a surprise that they pulled it off. AMC is just ok. Online series viewers simply do not tune in five days per week. We like breaks. No conspiracy.

Come on now… Online series viewers? It is ridiculous to think that just because the shows are now online vs. network that there would be a different viewer base.

these are soaps regardless of the venue and 99% of the viewer base is the same.
why are some trying to push the agenda of catering to a different viewer base??? Soaps will be watched by the same demographic no matter how they are presented. and those viewers will want to watch them year round and daily. period.

Can any one state when the show will start airing again. A long break slows down the story momentum.

Not yet. Many cable series have long breaks.

i loved both amc & oltl online version………………
i do watch other web/online soaps & they all have breaks at the end of each series/season so this is no more than what i expected………..
i am one who will not complain & start bashing toln/prospect park because if it wasn’t for them we would not have either soap & needless to say i am grateful for what they are doing!

Better than nothing…

Have loved having these families back! I am able to watch more now than i did when on ABC. Please bring back with SEASON II AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Are they waiting to see if Oprah or somebody else is interested in investing? If they do maybe they can expand the schedule and add another episode each week?!! Or, for how long is Roger’s GH contract? they haven’t even mentioned Starr have they? Maybe they are planning the schedule in a way that works best to compliment the holiday season?

Roger’s contract is probably good for at least 4 years from now if not more

Oh, and Maria….Boo to you! 🙂

I am confident both shows will return. Watch OWN will be in the mix and both shows will have a long life on the internet AND TV! 🙂

Thank you PP, TOLN and Oprah for finally seeing the light!!

I will continue to support and watch both soaps, I will not give up on them just because of a break, can not wait until season 2 starts. I hope season 2 is longer than season 1, with the possibility of them being back on for 4 or even 5 days a week, but will take whatever PP offers….I also will continue my boycott of ABC except for GH….ABC is dead to me, and AMC & OLTL don’t need ABC, that was their choice, and they will continue to regret it by keeping the awful Spew and Hatie, and their primetime ratings will continue to fall…..someday ABC won’t exist, and my response is- oh well……

Trevor,
We need your namesake McBain(Easton) back on OLTL!

Of course we do! We need the amazing chemistry of Archer and Easton! PLEASE
,

I fully support and understand what Prospect Park is doing, and I will mostly definitely will be watching “Season Two”

“Breaks” in series do not both me in the least. AMC has proven this with success of 3 of their main shows ( Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad )

Whether OLTL has a second “season” or not. I enjoyed seeing the denizens of Llanview again. Jerry Van Dorn was great at eating the scenery at Shelter. He is a fin actor. I am intrigued with the potential of Ron Raines in the show.

Return of Alison and Dani and Arturro – not so much.

But thankful for the reprieve whether it lasts or not.

Spoken like a true fan!!! NOT!!!

I will rest easy when the soaps are back in production. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Dear Prospect Park, I’ve loved your new AMC, but not so crazy about OLTL, though I’ll continue being a loyal viewer and hope it improves. hate JWOw, hate the Dani /Arturo story. It turns my stomach. And can’t stand the storyline with Jack and the teacher. For one thing, don’t teachers have enough bad PR. allison is my least favorite ever except for Mitch, hate Shelter scenes. etc. Love Bo and Nora, love the new Destiny- did love Jeffrey. Thought clint was great. Most of the adult storylines are good. Love everything abotu AMC pretty much. Do not want Angie with David. They need to do more with Jesse and I hope more family will return. Thank you a million times PP/Toln for bringing the soaps back. And please be straight and up front- what’s with teh hiatus. We were told there would be no gap. Be honest with the fans. that’s the most important.

I hope both shows return, but these inceptions do need some work. On ALL MY CHILDREN, the young actor who plays A.J. tries his best, but he most definitely over-acts his scenes, it appears that he is trying almost TOO hard. The actors are all trying, and sometimes they don’t have much to work with. The scenes between Colby and Celia fighting over Petey have gotten old very quickly, just a bit too silly. I am sorry to say that the on line version of ALL MY CHILDREN is pleasant enough, but sincerely does need some stronger writing. As far as ONE LIFE TO LIVE, I think they have had a better shot since they were able to secure many of the original actors from the ABC-TV serial, but they also need some stronger writing. These are just my own observations as a longtime fan of both shows, just an overview of how I feel the first season of each individual show has progressed.

They deserve a round of applause and cheers for getting it on the web. I was crushed when my beloved soap was cancelled and beyond happy when it returned. I am so looking forward to season #2 and while sad there is a gap happy for another season so i will wait and be a loyal watcher when it returns. Thank you Prospect Park.

Looking forward to the premiere of Season 2 of both shows. I have been a fan of OLTL for many years and was pleased with the finale. I didn’t follow AMC too much on ABC, but have been impressed with the quality of writing and storylines on the Hulu version. It appears that both shows are doing well on Hulu and have to wait patiently for the premiere.

I really enjoy watching AMC and hope that PP will produce more episodes. AMC is no longer a soap opera (in the traditional definition) but an internet series. Watching 50 minutes a week is still better than ZERO minutes a week.

Very true. Been trying to get other people to understand that these shows ARE different. But soaps have evolved before and are just doing it again.

I am waiting faithfully (but not easily!) for season 2 of both shows. 🙂

Season one of AMC is not even over yet so season two cannot quite begin yet

Tania, I am responding to Michael’s query: …Are you hopeful and excited for a season two?
Can you make your own comment – or can you just comment on what other people post?

Love One Life to Live!!!
Thank you for bringing it back.
Please bring Todd back to Blair!!!!

And Tea and Victor, John and Natalie please. Missing Jolie

Who is Jolie?

Who is Jolie supposed to be with?

Jolie is the name for John and Natalie

Thank you for bringing AMC and OLTL back it was great! Sorry to see the break between the two seasons. Hope it is not to long.

Someone mentioned free? I’m technologically challenged and have no clue how to go about that. I thought it was something one had to subscribe to watch. How do I go about that?

Judy, they are free at hulu.com when you watch on your pc or laptop. Not free to watch on phone or other devices.

I just finished watching both OLTL and AMC. The production was great and so was the cliff hanger. Can’t wait to see what is in store.

AMC’s finale is not until Mon Sept 2nd so how did you watch it?

I’ve watched All MY Children and One life to live almost since they began. Keep the new episodes coming. Both shows are better then ever. Even m y husband is watching them on OWN and trying to catch up with the ones I’ve seen on the web. We’ll be watching them together in the future (even though he won’t admit he get’s into the story lines and people). Thanks

I have watehed One Life to Live for years.

I love the new and updated showcase……..however I absolutly HATE…watching my computer to see this program. I think it is ruining my eyes….. I am on the computer
all day and then in my off time I am trying to watch a program that stops and starts every few minutes.

CR…if your television has newer ports – you can purchase an HDMI cord for about $12 bucks and connect your tv to your pc. That way you can watch on your big tv screen. I’ve been doing this for years now, good luck!

If you keep us waiting you could lose us. I’m not happy with just 50 minutes each week as it is. I want the soaps back on TV, in the old format. Internet isn’t better.

…at an unspecified date??? that’s an irresponsible way to treat your viewers Prospect Park. we’re some of the most loyal viewers in the history of television, clearly. don’t you think you should give us a clue…

I would like to receive email updates on AMC and OLTL please.

Looking forward to Season 2 of OLTL. Have been watching this Soap from the very beginning back in 68. Would like it if it was on daily for 1 hr instead of 2 days 30 min ea. day.

I would also like email notification of when Season 2 will be aired.

Thank you 🙂

Mark Consuelos Mourns the Loss of His Father

Published

Saul Consuelos, the father of All My Children alum and Live with Kelly and Mark co-host, Mark Consuelos (ex0-Mateo, AMC), has died. During an emotional moment on this mornings, April 6 edition of the syndicated talk show, Mark shared, that his dad, “passed away peacefully” back on March 23 following a long illness.

His wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) paid tribute to her her father-in-law expressing, he was, “the greatest person I’ve ever known. I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”

Kelly and Mark’s children, Joaquin, Michael and Lola Consuelos are said to be taking this extremely hard. Ripa added, “This is the first loss they’ve ever experienced in their lives. And I said, ‘By the time I was 8, I had no grandparents. You got to grow up (with grandparents). You got to have deep, meaningful conversations (with them).”

In another moment, Mark reflected on his dad. “It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad … if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch. There were a lot of lectures, a lot of lectures and I learned so much. If he was fixing something in the house, he’d make me watch and do it. And I didn’t know at the time why he was doing that. But now at the house, I’m able to do at least half of the stuff that he did. I learned the most by just watching him.”

Mark added that Saul Consuelos came to the U.S. from Mexico in his early teens and served our county for decades, detailing, he “Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid.  He loved his country so much, If you’re going to put a face to an immigrant, he would be the prime example of what this country promises people.”

In a very heart-tugging moment, Consuelos shared that now its important they be there for his mother, Camilla. “We gotta take care of mom. We’re trying to convince my mom to move to New York. She’s such a character, she’s stubborn. What do you think, a cooking segment here on Fridays with Camilla?”

Now below, watch the very touching and emotional moments as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa mourn the loss of Saul Consuelos.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Visits ‘The View’ Where Hosts Sidestep Controversial ‘Buffy’ Reboot Axing, But Talk ‘All My Children’

Published

on

By

On yesterday’s March 17 episode of The View, All My Children alum, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), was the special guest. Since Monday, Gellar has been the subject of a hot-button issue since about the surprising turn of events that the highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, in which she stars, and which was directed in the pilot by Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao, was no longer moving forward.

Gellar‘s appearance on the ABC morning talk show was devoid of any mention of Hulu cancelling its planned Buffy: New Sunnydale, in which Sarah was set to appear along with Ryan Kiera Armstrong. However, Gellar did discuss her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come from Searchlight Pictures.

It should be noted that both Hulu and Searchlight Pictures are owned by The Walt Disney Company, while The View is produced by ABC News, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Company.

During the awkward interview, when it became clear the ‘Buffy’ reboot topic was off the table, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, talked about the “intense fight scenes” that have become a staple of her TV and film career starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scream 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The ladies of The View also brought up Sarah’s beginnings on All My Children as Kendall Hart (1993-1995), showing a scene with her and her on-screen mother, the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. The discussion sprung out of another All My Children alum, Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) winning the Oscar this past Sunday for Best Actor for his role in Sinners. The View’s Joy Behar was quick to point out with Gellar, the All My Children alums that have gone on to great fame.

Previously on Monday, Gellar opened up to PEOPLE about being blindsided before while at the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. “I got the call as we were stepping onto stage for the premiere of their own movie. And it’s also the weekend of Chloé going to the Oscars as a best director nominee for Hamnet. For them to call us on the Friday of what should have been Chloé’s victory lap for an incredible film, and my world premiere of something that I worked very hard for is… that says something.”

She went to say, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.” Deadline reports that “multiple sources” identified the executive as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich.

“I loved the duality that we had with this new, younger slayer who was where Buffy was when the show started, and then we would pick up with where Buffy was now,” Gellar told People about the setup.  However, according also to Deadline “After the pilot was completed and delivered, according to multiple sources, Hulu’s main note was that it played too young, with some indicating that the streamer also felt the show was too “small.”’

In the rewrite, sources also told the outlet that the writers did not take big enough swings, so they set out to do a rewrite it again. The last revision was more adult, featuring a lot more of Gellar’s Buffy, and was described as a more of a streaming show than a network one. When all is said and done there is hope that another Buffy IP will be up and running within the next couple of years.
