Nashville Adds GL and Looking Alum Murray Bartlett To The Cast!

Looks like Aussie-born actor Murray Bartlett is heading to Nashville  …  the CMT drama that is!  According to Deadline, Bartlett had now been cast in the upcoming 5th season of the music city drama in the new recurring role of fashion designer Jakob Fine.

Bartlett is familiar to soap fans for his role as Cyrus Foley on Guiding Light from 2007-2009 and more recently starred in the HBO series Looking.

The role of Nashville’s Jakob is described as “a very handsome, charismatic and successful men’s fashion designer.”

Could Bartlett be a potential new love interest for one of the women on the Nashville canvas, or could his character of Jakob be a love interest for country western singer Will Lexington (Chris Carmack)?

I’m a huge fan of Murray Bartlett. He injected some much-needed energy into the final years of Guiding Light, and had real chemistry with Beth Ehlers. Looking forward to seeing him on “Nashville.”

Crystal Hunt and Donna Mills Headline New PureFlix Streaming Comedy Series, ‘Mood Swings’

Four generations of women are thrown together by circumstance to live under one roof and survive in Los Angeles in the new comedy series Mood Swings set to kick-off on October 24th on streaming service Pure Flix (www.PureFlix.com). New episodes will be released every Thursday for eight weeks.

Some very notable soap opera faces are featured in the cast.  Chief among them is former OLTL and GL star, Crystal Hunt, who also serves as the creator and executive producer of the comedy.

In addition to Hunt, none other than Knots Landing and General Hospital favorite, Donna Mills is along for the comedy ride as Hunt’s mother.. Hunt and Mills first worked together on the defunct reality series, Queens of Drama.

Joining Hunt and Mills and rounding out the cast are: Robin Riker (Ex-B&B and GH), Sophia Gasca (Ballers), Christina DeRosa (Bad Moms), Scott Bailey (Ex -GL and currently, The Bay,) and Jason Earles (Hannah Montana).  Plus, Dyan Cannon plays Hunt’s aunt in Mood Swings.

According to the loglines for the series: “Newly divorced from her mega-successful, controlling and philandering husband Jonathan (Bailey), Farrah (Hunt) is awarded the couple’s Malibu mansion along with an enormous mortgage and minimal financial support to take care of herself and 8-year-old son Ryder. Recognizing she needs an income, yet having no work experience whatsoever, Farah decides to rent out rooms in her house in order to pay the bills. After placing an ad on Craigslist for female roommates, enter Coco (Riker), a disgruntled working woman; Dani (DeRosa), a fiery Canadian-Italian culinary wizard and hopeful Hollywood actress; and Emilia (Gasca), an enigmatic Dominican entrepreneur trying to get U.S. citizenship.  Farrah’s live-in not-so-handy handyman Angel (Earles) adds even more comedic moments to the show as he both struggles and enjoys being the only adult male in the household. While all the women come from different backgrounds and generations, they are brought together by unforeseen circumstances and what ensues is a wild and hysterical ride full of laughs.”

In a statement on the launch of the streaming series, Hunt expressed: “We felt there was a need for a great female ensemble comedy.  Right now, you can only watch reruns of shows like ‘Golden Girls’ and ‘Designing Women’ to enjoy a female-driven show. Our thinking was to embrace the legacy of these programs while adding a modern twist.”
