After the midseason cliffhanger, ABC’s Nashville (10PMET/PT) returns tonight to answer the question … who lives and who dies?  When we last checked in on the country and western music city soap,  Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) had been shot and Will (Chris Carmack) was about to commit suicide by throwing himself in front of an on-coming train!

Now, ABC previews in the all-new episode tonight entited, “I’ll Keep Climbing” the following: In the aftermath of the death of someone in their circle, lives are changed forever in the world of “Nashville,” and a new mystery arises.  Kelly Clarkson guest stars as herself and makes Gunnar (Sam Palladio) and Scarlett (Claire Bowen) a once-in-a-lifetime offer.  Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) reputation takes another body blow as creative video editing seems to show her proclaiming there is no God, further fueling her detractors. Rayna’s  (Connie Britton) bought herself out of Edgehill, but the the pressure to succeed is greater than ever, and Deacon (Charles Esten) struggles to write during his sobriety and relative stability and finds help from Maddie and Daphne (Maisy and Lennon Stella),

In the sneak peek promo for tonight the show previews: ” In the new year, how will Nashville cope with tragedy, shame, and the last chance to make it big?”   After the jump, watch the promo! Them let us know, who you think will have met their tragic end?

Great choice of photo there, Mr. Fairman! All I can say is Will better be the one to live! Don’t even particularly like this show, but Chris Carmack makes tuning in worthwhile….have enjoyed him since the days of the “OC” and Abercrombie and Fitch!!!!! ; )

Hello Shay… my on-again off-again soap buddy! I for one LOVE this show. Literally one of my favorite shows of all shows I’ve seen to date! (Not THE best…but one of….)

Well, it’s after the episode; great that Will survived. Great looking; great, interesting portrayal. I so hope this show gets renewed. For me, it gets better and better.

Yes, Will lives!!!! Must say CC does conflicted so well…..but hope he sees better days ahead since he is such a cutie. Actually prefer him more in the mold of the OC’s blond babe surferboy than as a tortured country-singing cowboy, but he has done a fine job of it. Have tried to get into this show on and off, but not really there yet….probably primarily for two reasons: not a fan of the music genre nor Connie Britton and both feature prominently. But JJ’s Avery is a treat (love his tunes!) and Chris Carmack definitely has kept me coming back since his character’s debut. In truth, I’m much more invested in “Revenge” and “Downtown Abbey.” I watch very little American television these days…mostly Brit stuff!!!!

ah. If you have the inclination maybe watch it from the beginning. I was never a fan of country music either…although gradually I made my way. Keith Urban, Rascal Flats, Zac Brown Band, The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum…but I digress!

It’s got romance, scandal, sex, lies, music (we’ve covered that!)…divided loyalties, angst…just love it. I respectfully suggest you give it another shot.

Have you watched Dracula with Jonathan Rhys Myers? Another “love” of mine. Amazing performance in The Tudors…and I always find anything he’s in worthy. Unfortunately the show got off to a slow start (I wasn’t too intrigued with episode one) but it’s picked up and has pulled me into that beautifully portrayed (albeit gory, supernatural ) world. Beyond disappointed it will most likely be canceled. Much more appropriate for either a cable audience or a better night.

Nothing like being off topic!

Do I watch Dracula? OMG…yes! Wanna hear something strange? I almost mentioned it in my last reply to you right here because I find it to be such a fantastic, otherworldly treat, but since it wasn’t “technically” a soap, I avoided the urge. You are so right, it is just beautifully done….the sumptuous production values and British cast make it quite out of the ordinary. Sadly, you are also correct in that it will most likely be cancelled, or at least shopped to a lesser cable network. Next week’s episode will be the “season finale,” as they put it, so that is probably that! Too bad, as that was the only new program I added to my watchlist this year. (Speaking of another “non-soap” are you geared up for the next installment of “Sherlock?” It begins this weekend, and I cannot wait! Benedict Cumberbatch is just the essence of awesomeness in the eponymous role! Between that and the “Abbey,” “Revenge,” and possibly “The Mentalist,” I’m headed for couch potato status for the weekend…..) As for “Nashville,” I’m just not taken by enough of the characters/actors in that particular show….I still tune in but I’m not riveted to the screen every second. (Kind of like GH as of late…..) Oh well, as you said there is always the chance to catch up later thanks to DVD’s and the net. Right now my viewing plate is quite full, thank you very much! Enjoy the weekend and all of its TV goodness!!!! ; )

Hayden Panettiere Reveals Filming ‘Nashville’ was ‘Traumatizing’; Writers Used Her Personal Struggles with Addiction, Postpartum as Storylines

Nashville and former Guiding Light star, Hayden Panettiere (ex-Lizzie, GL) opened up about her final seasons on the ABC country music primetime drama, where the show touched too close to home for the actress who played lead character, Juliette Barnes.

In an interview with The Messenger, Hayden shared that during the run of the show from 2012-2018, she feels that the writers, more often that not, pulled from her real life while crafting Juliette’s storylines.

Hayden said on the years she spent filming the series that it was “also very traumatizing because I felt like I was acting out my own life.”

Previously, the actress had shared that her dependency on alcohol and opioids as a teenager led to her dependency in her adult life. In addition, Nashville told the story of Juliette’s postpartum depression, which also mirrored Panettiere’s experience who went through the same thing when her own daughter was born.

Explaining what went down behind the scenes, Hayden recalled: “Straight from the beginning, it was like, I’m dating a football player, (and then) Juliette dates a football player. And then they turned her into an alcoholic. Then they turned to her leaving her daughter and going to this crazy (place) in Europe, and it was very obvious.”

The actress added, ‘They weren’t doing their homework. They weren’t creating new storylines. They were just looking at my life and going, ‘Oh, let’s just take what she’s going through and put our little spin on it.’ And then, ta-da! It’s done and done.”

Hayden added that she didn’t have time to care of herself and the pain she was going through physically and emotionally, so she tried to watch mindless TV and shows to help her calm down. Panettiere also felt that when she knew she had to go back to the set of Nashville, she did, “anything to keep my mind off of that because I knew that next day I was going to be back at it again. I was like, tear central. I don’t even think on a soap opera that I cried as much (as I did) on Nashville.”

Hayden is set to make three upcoming appearances of her A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere live series in New York on February 23 and Washington D.C. on February 24.

So, do you think the Nashville writers literally stole creative ideas for the character of Juliette Barnes based on Hayden’s personal struggles? It certainly on paper seems so. Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
