NASHVILLE Season Finale: Will Two Characters Get Killed-Off?

Courtesy/ABC
There has been much speculation and rumors that in Wednesday’s night (10PMEST/PST, ABC) big season finale episode of the first season of Nashville, that two characters will meet their maker!
In a brand new piece out from the L.A. Times on Nashville’s creator Callie Khouri, and her almost all female writing team discuss the successful formula that has made this country music drama sudser a winner with television fans. Khouri would only say, “You’ll have to tune in to find out,” when the Times tried to find out who might die! But Khouri added about the finale she directs, “It’s a huge episode. All these story lines coming together!”
In addition, Khouri and series star, Connie Britton were reported to be working on an emotional major scene in the finale between Nashville’s long-reigning country music queen Rayna Jaymes, and her onscreen 13-year-old daughter, played by Lennon Stella. “Just do it organically — tell the story,” Khouri says to Britton with both assertiveness and motherly assurance. She and Britton exchange more notes and then Khouri passes briskly through the crowded set to watch the scene on a monitor. Britton begins her lines, but then breaks character mid-sentence. “Hey, Callie, can we take it back a bit?” she asks. “I wanna try something.” “Sure thing,” Khouri says. “You just keep doing what you gotta do, it’s OK. We can keep going back.” So what could be happening here in story? We are sure many of your might know!
So Nashville fans, who do you think might get “killed-off” in the season finale? Are you excited the series got renewed for a second season? Weigh-in!

Hayden Panettiere Reveals Filming ‘Nashville’ was ‘Traumatizing’; Writers Used Her Personal Struggles with Addiction, Postpartum as Storylines
Nashville and former Guiding Light star, Hayden Panettiere (ex-Lizzie, GL) opened up about her final seasons on the ABC country music primetime drama, where the show touched too close to home for the actress who played lead character, Juliette Barnes.
In an interview with The Messenger, Hayden shared that during the run of the show from 2012-2018, she feels that the writers, more often that not, pulled from her real life while crafting Juliette’s storylines.
Hayden said on the years she spent filming the series that it was “also very traumatizing because I felt like I was acting out my own life.”

Previously, the actress had shared that her dependency on alcohol and opioids as a teenager led to her dependency in her adult life. In addition, Nashville told the story of Juliette’s postpartum depression, which also mirrored Panettiere’s experience who went through the same thing when her own daughter was born.
Explaining what went down behind the scenes, Hayden recalled: “Straight from the beginning, it was like, I’m dating a football player, (and then) Juliette dates a football player. And then they turned her into an alcoholic. Then they turned to her leaving her daughter and going to this crazy (place) in Europe, and it was very obvious.”

The actress added, ‘They weren’t doing their homework. They weren’t creating new storylines. They were just looking at my life and going, ‘Oh, let’s just take what she’s going through and put our little spin on it.’ And then, ta-da! It’s done and done.”

Hayden added that she didn’t have time to care of herself and the pain she was going through physically and emotionally, so she tried to watch mindless TV and shows to help her calm down. Panettiere also felt that when she knew she had to go back to the set of Nashville, she did, “anything to keep my mind off of that because I knew that next day I was going to be back at it again. I was like, tear central. I don’t even think on a soap opera that I cried as much (as I did) on Nashville.”
Hayden is set to make three upcoming appearances of her A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere live series in New York on February 23 and Washington D.C. on February 24.
So, do you think the Nashville writers literally stole creative ideas for the character of Juliette Barnes based on Hayden’s personal struggles? It certainly on paper seems so. Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I only started to watch it for JJ as I am still boycotting ABC over the cancellation of AMC and OLTL. Therefore all I have to say is if they kill off JJ, I’m done with Nashville.
You are not hurting ABC by boycotting you only hurting yourself by mussing out on some great prime-time soaps that would really like..
Boycotting is nonsense and accomplishes nothing..
ABC doesn’t even know you do watch nor do they care ,only one losing-out on your boycotting is you … 🙂
I boycotte too Linda, but I do watch Nashville only! Love the show!
I live out of Nashville, they noted on the news about an explosion for the show Nashville. So the people in the area of the tapings didn’t freak out.
I think is the guitar player-turned roadie-back to playing guitar that cheated on Scarlet(can’t remember the character’s name) and the cowboy with blonde hair that lives upstairs from Scarlet and Gunnar. Two characters that won’t be missed but have been seen in the last couple of episodes.
The roadie/musician is Jonathan Jackson who played Lucky on General Hospital for many years. He happens to be a very good actor and they haven’t as of yet given him enough to do on this show. I doubt he’d be killed off…he’s too popular and I’m hoping they evolve his story.
I’m thinking maybe they’ll kill of Teddy’s girlfriend…and maybe Rayna’s manager? Or Juliette’s mom? (hope not; like her.)
Killing off any of the male heartthrobs wouldn’t be a wise decision…
Daisy, ur KIDDING me right. The guitar, roadie guy is Jonathan Jackson, one of the stars of the show, who writes lots of the music for the show and sings. It wont be him! Get to kow ur characters. The gay guy from upstairs, maybe.
I absolutely love this show! Have watched every episode!!! Wanna see Rayna with Deacon…glad it got renewed
I’m with you Terri!!
I love “Nashville” so much, I look forward to it every week & am so happy that it’s been renewed for a second season.
I think it’s going to be that scammer (hate him so much what’s his name???) guy that scammed Juliet and his girlfriend — and then next year will be Juliet trying to cover it up.
I love NASHVILLE even with its flaws. I cannot imagine who may be offed in the finale. One might suspect the con artist Dante is one likely goner, leading to a murder mystery. Juliette on trial to protect her mother? Or vice versa? Losing Lamar may advance/create story and build tension between Rayne and her sister, the latter character is so underused but I think so vital. I would think nearly all the core characters are safe. I thoguht I read Will, the apparently gay/bi country singer, is signed as a regular next season. Peggy, Teddy’s mistress, also.
I just wish writers would take alittle more time is setting up plot points. I would like more suspense instead of outright surprise.
With the incriminating “tape” referred to in previews for tonight’s episode, I think Dante is likely our victim in the season finale – one last scheme gone too far, and someone puts a bullet in him to keep the tape from going public. But I would love for the writers to play with us a bit and blur the line on whodunnit (a la the death of Peter Hollister on Knots Landing, which I have always thought was a nod to the Coen Brothers’ masterful Blood Simple). Juliette and her mother will be obvious suspects, and it would be fun to have reasons to suspect them both. Imagining Juliette would work quickly to cover up whatever happened to protect her image and career. But would she be covering for herself, or for her mother? And what if neither of them did it, but they each think the other did?…
All that speculation aside, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be someone like Peggy, who they’ve kind of written off anyway with Teddy’s discovery of her involvement in the divorce brouhaha.
On a side note – agree with Iakovos above – wish they would draw some plot lines out a bit more. I wasn’t surprised that Dante was a scheming double-crosser, but it would have been good to let that percolate with viewers for a couple of episodes before he took off. It would have made him much more of a villain in the audience’s eyes. As it was, he was just kind of nasty to some people at random. With more behind it, we still may not have seen his theft and disappearance coming, but building up to it more would have made for a better pay off, I think.
They have a lot of characters to manage here. I’m pretty sure they’ll leave us hanging on the Rayna-Deacon relationship, and maybe the Scarlett-Gunnar-Will situation, too.
I honestly think it will be Teddy and then Peggy (murder/suicide)…in the promo for the finale show, you hear Rayna screaming in the background. Peggy already tried to commit suicide because Teddy cut off the relationship…and that was BEFORE they were sleeping together. Leads me to believe that she is really going to go off of the deep end now that their relationship has progressed and he broke it off with her again. Just my opinion.
I’m really not sure but the season finale promo with Deacon behind the wheel of his car in a frantic state scared me (please don’t kill Deacon).
The May 15th episode was NOT the season finale. There was one more episode on May 22nd, and THAT’S the season finale.
I love this show poor deacon has had enough trouble let him be happy for a while I can see why the man drinks and why cant we see flash backs of they pasts leading up to these things ray and deacon ! why Juliette is the way she is whats up with that pic her momma had in her purse stuff like that is important why is ray and deacons relationship so toxic they r ment to be I want to see them back in the day I want to see were those love songs came from I want to see clips of rays mom why there like they r I love the music and the show but its like we got to see the middle not the beginning please do flash backs then we might understand ray deacon and Juliette better rite now I don`t like Juliette at all and I know theres a reason I would love to see ray mentor Juliette theres a reason she hates rayna but why see that’s what I`m talkin about why you know she does but why thank you
If Connie Britton leaves the show and/or if the show “Nashville” stops filming in Nashville I will no longer be the least bit interested in watching what was one of my favorite shows.
Well first off I watched this show religiously and was so upset when it was cancelled I was heartbroken but when I heard it was coming back on I was thrilled but after tonight it was my last viewing. What the heck killing Reyna off she was the glue that held the show together I mean really is it a crime to see a couple happy. I guess I will have to find another show to watch during this time slot. I am sad and mad at the same time. So long Nashville
