NASHVILLE Season Five On The Way: CMT Reaches Deal To Air Music City Drama!

Courtesy/ABC

Fantastic news today out of The Tennessean!  Their sources are reporting that Thursday night a deal was reached with CMT cable network and the show’s producers, Lionsgate that will bring Nashville’s fifth season to the outlet!  The music city drama was canceled by ABC back in May after four seasons.  Originally, a formal annoucement was expected during Wednesday’s airing of the CMT Awards.

In addition, while CMT will air the episodes on TV, Hulu will also stream the new episodes.  According to The Tennessean, “Crucial to the deal is the incentive package that will see the state, Metro, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. and Ryman Hospitality chip in funds to offset the cost of the show’s production. The state put $8 million in its budget and Nashville Mayor Megan Barry has proposed a $1.375 million fund for film incentives, though the final amount for “Nashville” has not been announced. The state and Metro have justified incentives for Nashville by arguing the show brings tourists to the city and pumps millions of dollars into the local economy, in addition to bringing production jobs.

The entire cast is expected to return for the show, which will be under the direction of a new creative team of Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.

So, excited to know that it looks like all systems go for season five production of Nashville? We will keep you posted on more on this developing story.  Comment below!

I am happy the show will continue. I am not always a fan of the storylines. However, I was pleased with the season finale. It is very interesting how the state of TN and other agencies are helping to offset the cost of the show. An interesting development indeed. I am so glad Hulu will stream the show as streaming is how I watch TV these days. I no longer get cable.

CMT now seems to be a premium channel and I no longer have access to it. Not that I watched Nashville, but it’s a shame I can’t get this channel anymore.

Wow, wonderful news. ABC I hope you choke on it, for getting rid of Nashville I read online that Nashville got picked up for 22 episodes on CMT. Bravo to you CMT, for picking up Nashville. I predicted that Nashville would get picked up, by CMT or Netflix. I am so happy that Nashville will be back.

I really don’t live under a rock… I had NO IDEA that Nashville and Castle (2 of my fav shows) had been cancelled by ABC. However, when I saw how they ended Castle I thought to myself, that looks like a series ending, not a season ending show! Then a couple of weeks later watched Nashville and thought it was a season ending show. Terrible way to end the series, although I already had Juliette and Avery back together next year lol. THEN I found out the show had been cancelled. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, CMT for picking up the show!! Now if someone would just pick up Castle and bring back The Good Wife……. (I can dream….)

General Hospital

WATCH: Jonathan Jackson + Enation’s New Music Video “The Days Are Evil”

Five-time Daytime Emmy winner from General Hospital, and former Nashville star, Jonathan Jackson (Ex-Lucky, Ex-Avery) has released a new music video for the new single “The Days Are Evil” along with his band Enation.

The music video features shots of Jackson in a very dark incarnation, and the track will also appear on Jackson + Enation’s upcoming album due out later this fall, Ultraviolet Empire.

Jonathan says of the new album: “Our new album, Ultraviolet Empire, is a throwback record. It’s a record we played together live in the studio. Most of the songs are one take -just letting the band play.  It was amazing playing with our co-producer Colin Linden and capturing something so raw and visceral.”

This will be the band’s follow-up to their 2017 album  Anthems for the Apocalypse and their successful 2018 tour in Europe opening for Echo & The Bunnymen,

Check out the music video featuring Jonathan released this week below.

Then, let us know, should Lucky return to Port Charles for the Nurses’ Ball with his band and play a tune off the new album next spring? Will Jonathan come home to GH for a guest appearance? Will you be checking out the new music from him in the coming months? Comment below.

The last 36 hours have seen some of your favorite primetime dramas renewed and others canceled; several of which feature former or current soap stars.  ABC has renewed for its upcoming sixth season How to Get Away with Murder.  During its fifth season, the series ranked as the No. 1 program in Thursday’s 10 PM slot in key demos: Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34.

NASHVILLE To Become Broadway Musical

Looks like the Music City drama, Nashville, originally on ABC and then on CMT, has more than nine lives! Now the popular soap is headed to the stage and Broadway after six seasons on the small screen.

The show is set to have a musical adaptation with 10-time Tony Award winner Scott Delman (American IdiotRagtimeBook of MormonHello, Dolly!Fun HomeMean Girls) in charge.  In addition, Delman will serve as lead producer of the show and he has acquired the live theatrical rights from Lionsgate and ABC Studios.

Nashville, with its complex, relatable characters and sweeping emotional gestures, has all of the narrative elements that I look for in great theatrical source material,” Delman said in a statement. “From that rich DNA, we will be building an original story with entirely original music, written by major Nashville and Broadway songwriters.  We are particularly excited to deliver Broadway’s first score of true contemporary country music — a genre that has exploded with mainstream audiences in recent years. Lionsgate has a treasure-trove of sterling IP, and I’m honored to be a part of this new phase of their live entertainment division.”

Additional information on the upcoming musical, including production dates and a creative team, is expected to be announced shortly.  Now the question becomes; will some of its beloved series stars be in the Broadway rendition of the series?
