Nashville To Add Trans Character To The Canvas For Season 5!

When Nashville begins its season 5 run on its new home, cable outlet CMT, there will definitely be some changes.

One intriguing bit of casting news comes from TV Guide, whose sources reveal that the music city soapy drama is looking to add a transgender character to the canvas.

While there is limited information available, apparently the trans woman will play a significant role in Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) recovery from the plane crash that left viewers with a major cliffhanger during season 4 while the series was on ABC.

The report goes on to allude to the fact that the plane crash is going to leave Juliette with a significant impact on her personal and professional life.  In fact, one should not be surprised if Juliette might not ever step on to the stage again.

So, what do you think of Nashville adding a trans character to the show? Who would you suggest for the role? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I don’t know…they ditched Luke and Layla…thought it was budget. Guess not. I don’t see this considering we spent two seasons having Will deal with his identity and fighting to be accepted. Will’s one of my favorite characters but I think just like in the story the more conservative viewers didn’t approve of his character…that’s what I saw when I read some of the boards. And on a country station. Hmmmm. Okay. Should be interesting…these writers are great so hopefully they have their writing tentacles on the pulse of the audience…

Wow.. I am shocked. how will Nashville and CMT handle this ? Are they changing??? I have loved country music for many years and listened to it, but always knew how it was not accepted in the Country industry…

Good for the show… Lets hope this continues the change…. #betrue

I don’t have a problem with having a Transgender on the show, just please no Bruce Gender or Katylin… They need a Real transgender spokesperson not someone looking to be famous for the kardas clan. I sorry to admit that I don’t know many of their names beside Chad Bono and one name Shirley but one of them can really act. I hope they do some research and find a good actor or actress to tackle and represent this very conversational task.

Sorry for the miss spelling of Chaz Bono name.

I have no problem with this other than the obvious reason that we don’t really need any major new characters on the canvas. I’ve only known one trans person and she always said she just wanted to be treated like everyone else, not as a token or a gesture of conciliation. I trust the powers behind Nashville to handle this appropriately.

WATCH: Jonathan Jackson + Enation’s New Music Video “The Days Are Evil”

Five-time Daytime Emmy winner from General Hospital, and former Nashville star, Jonathan Jackson (Ex-Lucky, Ex-Avery) has released a new music video for the new single “The Days Are Evil” along with his band Enation.

The music video features shots of Jackson in a very dark incarnation, and the track will also appear on Jackson + Enation’s upcoming album due out later this fall, Ultraviolet Empire.

Jonathan says of the new album: “Our new album, Ultraviolet Empire, is a throwback record. It’s a record we played together live in the studio. Most of the songs are one take -just letting the band play.  It was amazing playing with our co-producer Colin Linden and capturing something so raw and visceral.”

This will be the band’s follow-up to their 2017 album  Anthems for the Apocalypse and their successful 2018 tour in Europe opening for Echo & The Bunnymen,

Check out the music video featuring Jonathan released this week below.

Then, let us know, should Lucky return to Port Charles for the Nurses’ Ball with his band and play a tune off the new album next spring? Will Jonathan come home to GH for a guest appearance? Will you be checking out the new music from him in the coming months? Comment below.

NASHVILLE To Become Broadway Musical

Looks like the Music City drama, Nashville, originally on ABC and then on CMT, has more than nine lives! Now the popular soap is headed to the stage and Broadway after six seasons on the small screen.

The show is set to have a musical adaptation with 10-time Tony Award winner Scott Delman (American IdiotRagtimeBook of MormonHello, Dolly!Fun HomeMean Girls) in charge.  In addition, Delman will serve as lead producer of the show and he has acquired the live theatrical rights from Lionsgate and ABC Studios.

Nashville, with its complex, relatable characters and sweeping emotional gestures, has all of the narrative elements that I look for in great theatrical source material,” Delman said in a statement. “From that rich DNA, we will be building an original story with entirely original music, written by major Nashville and Broadway songwriters.  We are particularly excited to deliver Broadway’s first score of true contemporary country music — a genre that has exploded with mainstream audiences in recent years. Lionsgate has a treasure-trove of sterling IP, and I’m honored to be a part of this new phase of their live entertainment division.”

Additional information on the upcoming musical, including production dates and a creative team, is expected to be announced shortly.  Now the question becomes; will some of its beloved series stars be in the Broadway rendition of the series?
