Looks like the beloved Emily Quartermaine is coming back in ghost form to General Hospital, which means Daytime Emmy winner Natalia Livingston will be making a return to the ABC soap opera!

According to the news from Soaps She Knows.com, A rep for Livingston reported  today that the actress will be returning and will be seen in two upcoming episodes!

Emily was last seen during General Hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration episode in early April of 2013, when Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Monica (Leslie Charleson) were both seeing the deceased Alan (Stuart Damon) and Emily!

So, who will have visions of Emily this time? How will her return be worked in the story? Do you wish GH had never killed off the character of Emily?  Let us know!

Great, love Natalia

Wow! She’s super blonde now. Beyonce blonde!

I guess ghosts can color their hair too!

They definitely should not have killed her, or Alan, or Georgie, or Tony Jones or…the list goes on. GH has never really recovered for me.

Why can’t Helena have her frozen?

NL’s Emily was not a favorite character of mine by a long shot–the Sonny/Emily pairing turned my stomach–but IMO it was a huge mistake killing her off. The Qs are such a sad shadow of what they once were, which was a truly classic soap family.

ITA, and the pairing with her and Sonny was gross. Sonny is half her age, when her character was 11 he was in his late 20s- early 30s and Jason’s kid sister. I’m glad after they broke them up it was never discussed again as if it didn’t happen. The writes at that time needed to be slapped in the face for that mess!

Love her – NO they should have never killed her off.

Let her come back as Nina…who is later revealed as Emilys long lost twin sister…maybe she appears to Tracy to help her find Luke or to A.J. and Monica to help prove he is innocent in Connies death(i heared Connie is coming back somehow)

emily’s long lost twin has come and gone.

Alrighty then, her lookalike cousin?…lol

Same here Louisa I don’t know what the writers or big wigs at GH were thinking when they killed off legacy characters (yes I include Georgie and Emily since they are legacy children albeit Emily was adopted) you just don’t kill off that many characters in a “forever” way. Sure there are ways to bring them back from the dead and soap opera fans will bat a few eyes but I prefer the way Jason died with no body easier to bring a character back from the dead that way.

Im not a huge fan of coming back from the dead stories.. but as always there are exceptions.. one would be Emily..I feel Elizabeth and Nicholas need her back.

Emily and Nicholas were in love; Elizabeth and Nicholas were in love. Don’t see the ol’ threesome working…as just a friendship anymore.

They should have never killed her off and maybe they could find some way to bring her back from the dead. If they can’t then she could come back as a different person just like Roger, Michael, and Kristen.

Run NL! Run! Stay away from the hot mess that is GH!

Yes, GH should never have offed such an important character. She was the new heart of the Quartermaine family and they just tossed her aside. Sad. Wish they would just say Helena has had her locked up some where all these years.

maybe she comes back to give Nicolas advice when he’s torn over Brit lying about the baby…or…he talks to her in his grief/angst. or, maybe…to comfort AJ or give him clues to the truth.

as for Emily…I liked her but didn’t like the way she favored Jason over AJ. Aj’s a sore topic for me; I always felt frustration at the way they treat this particular character.

aha! maybe Franco dies…and Roger comes back as the new Jason! it turns out that he and Jason really are twins…and whoever gives him a new face decides to make him a Franco-lookalike. (Maybe Emily comes back for Jason.)

huh!

totally agree with Louisa. There are so many characters that they kill off and bring back. But certain characters like Emily and Alan were final. They should not have been killed off.

Didn’t AJ die at the hospital…we all thought that was final, and we were wrong. I say kill off Kiki, Silas, Rafe, Franco, Sabrina. They are not needed and their deaths should be FINAL. 🙂

Aw c’mon….Silas and Franco aren’t THAT bad! As for the others….yes, yes, and MOST DEFINITELY, YES!!!!! (Although I really feel for KA for having such a dud character to portray….)

I am so excited to see NL(Emily) return even if it is brief… GH should have never killed the character and it seems as if they regret it or they wouldn’t be bringing her back again.. Hopefully this is the start of a is Emily really “dead” story…

Natalia has returned to GH as Emily’s ghost and as Emily’s long, lost, unknown twin sister, Rebecca. Neither return was successful. I liked Emily altho she suffered from soap saintdom syndrome. It’s too bad. The Quartermaine family needs some strength and warm bodies. Don’t take that to be a desire for the return of Ned and Dillon. I’d rather have a recast Jason than have more people around to do Tracy’s dirty work.

Well, they can begin by strengthening AJ’s character and presence! He’s ready and available….use him!!!! Then delve into the Quartermaine family vault….where’s Celia and her Grant? And Jimmy Lee Holt???? They were a huge part of GH history and yet there is never any mention of them????

I have been very disappointed in what has been AJ’s return. He should have learned something in the years that he was gone, but so far there hasn’t been any indication that he has.

I want a strengthening of the Quartermaine family and like you I see no reason why AJ cannot be the beginning of it. I am really tired of Tracy’s acid tongue. It is a wonder someone hasn’t put a period to her existence.

Why not bring back Jimmy Lee? He would be middle-aged now but that doesn’t mean he can’t bring the drama. He and AJ could contrive to oust Tracy from ELQ.

Excellent points, EP….I, too, have been dismayed at AJ’s treatment since his return…there was an excellent opportunity for him to be a better, wiser man this time around, and that chance was quickly squandered for some cheap thrill storylines that led SK almost to the point of no return for his character….I find this particularly disappointing since he is such a fine example of that traditional type of leading man soap star…classically handsome and aristocratic in bearing. I know I am probably in the minority, but all these scruffy new guys and their constant shirtless scenes that they feature on “Cartini’s” watch just don’t impress me…they look interchangeable and most have no personality and little in the way of acting skills….simply boring!!! As for the Quartermaine clan, I totally agree with you about Tracy….her bitter banter wore thin eons ago….she has no class or oomph anymore, just the same old, same old taunts for her favorite punching bags. And her so-called romance with Luke is simply pathetic…as if he is such a prize! Jimmy Lee Holt could provide a real shot of adrenaline to the old Q homestead, and even if Steve Bond is not available, a recast could work…there are plenty of soap vets in his age category that are ready and available to fill the role. I would love to see Celia again, too. And what ever happened to Grant? Was he ultimately redeemed or did he return to his native-born evil self? Good question…..

Love her!!! Happy to have her back on for however long she will be on! Of course I wish they had not killed Emily off!!!

I’ll take her back even as Rebecca !

Glad to see her back on the show although briefly..I am super excited that Connie/Kate, the talented Kelly Sullivan, will also be coming back and make some ghostly appearances with AJ Q. Since the show is SOO over the top, why not bring back these two lovely and talented actresses back, and NOT ghosts, especially Ms Sullivan!!!

When Sparkle Pony and Emily meet, they will eye ball each other up and down like when Hayley Mills played twins.

Funny, I was just thinking that the last thing we need is to get this one back, since her saccharin-sweet Emily was formerly the most annoying sanguine character that GH had….until Soppy came on the scene, that is! She definitely makes NL almost bearable by comparison….thankfully, they won’t be scene-sharing, as it could possibly send the viewers into sugar-shock. That being said, I shed no tears for Emily when she was killed off, and thus her repeated ghostly visits have not been a welcome sight for me.

I loved her and nikolas! They were adorable and a sweet couple. I remember crying when she got killed off, and balling as nikolas mourned her. Then they tried the Rebecca thing and that sucked! I hope it’s a special return! She’s a great actress and I read that she’d love to come back in one of those 50th anniversary articles… If others can be resurrected why not her? GH stinks right now nd with Robin leaving/ gone we need a sincere love story! There’s not one special , loving couple right now that we can root for and feel good about.
I’d like to see Sam with Patrick!,

Nicholas and Gia were better as a couple I thought. They should bring Gia back-the original one.

I want all the Quartermaines back, including the much-too-frequently MIA Monica Quartermaine!

Yeah, I though she would have been freeze dried and Jason would have rescued her down the road and brought her back to PC.

I miss emily so much. There were rumors 2 months ago, that emily and Alan Quartermaine are alive. I hope stuart damon is coming back to gh, as alan. maybe Jerry jax has alan and emily locked in a room. At least, we get to see emily’s ghost. Natalia is a wonderful actress, and she is a pretty woman too.

As a MASSIVE Nikolas & Emily fan this is the best news I have heard in what seems like forever!! Still disgusted over GH killing off Emily! There has been NO comparison whatsoevet since NL left the show. GH needs to get it together. They bring others back from the dead MULTIPLE times so what are they waiting for? Bringing her back could totally renew faith in the show. Quit bringing her back as a ghost and make it the real thing!!!

The death of Emily never paid off in story and to have her back as some other chick was disrespectful. So no she Should have never been killed her off!

of course I wish they had never killed her off…she was the best, next to Jason

I loved the character of Emily. When they killed her off the show I lost interest and stopped watching all together. Natalia brought such beauty and innocents to the show with a touch of class. Something that the soaps are definitely lacking now days. The character needs to be brought back on a permanent basis so it can regain the innocents and class she brought to the show.

Loved the Emily character. Should never have taken her off.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
