Days Of Our Lives
‘NBC News Daily’ Hits Rock Bottom In Ratings Premiere Week
While networks have seen a collective erosion over the years of the soap opera viewing audience, they are still the most loyal and fierce of any entertainment genre.
With NBC’s decision to take Days of our Lives off of the network after nearly 57 years, and replace it with another daytime news program, they would surely have a rocky road ahead of them to capture viewers in that time slot; especially now that DAYS was moved exclusively to NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock.
Nothing was more proof positive of that, than the first week ratings and performance of NBC News Daily.
The news show which premiered on Monday, September 12th came in last for the ratings period of all daytime shows for the week.
According to SON: NBC News Daily averaged 935,000 viewers, was last among Total Viewers and last in the key demo ratings: Women 18-49 (tie) and Women 25-54.
In comparison to DAYS last week on NBC, and a year ago, NBC News Daily was down -744,000 and -762,000 viewers, respectively.
NBC News Daily features the latest national and international news, plus consumer, health, and personal finance segments and is hosted by Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Morgan Redford and Vicky Nguyen.
So, will ‘NBC News Daily’ find itself facing the same fate as ABC’s defunct ‘Revolution’, which replaced One Life to Live, and lasted only six months, or will the news program somehow turn a ratings corner? Does NBC really care one way or the other? Share your thoughts below.
Bring back Days of our lives. We don’t need more news programs.
Agree!! Will not turn on NBC. Now watch Fox in that time slot
You could turn off the TV and go for a walk.
I will be sure to tell my wife to go for a walk with one leg ..the other lost to diabetes
My father-in-law has severe Parkinson’s and MIL is dealing with the effects of lifelong scoliosis. She’s been watching days since pregnant in 1965. They don’t ask for much in this life. That hour of craziness was a joy for them.
Bring back Days of our Lives!!!! No more News channels please!
Bring Days of our Lives back! I refuse to buy into another network attempting to upsell their free programs in the guise of a premium cable network. Do we need ANOTHER news program? That was an awful decision NBC!
Totally agree
Hate they they are taking all the soaps off. I loved guiding light and poof gone.
I loved Guiding Light & As The World Turns; still miss them all these years later. Turned to DOOL now that is gone. We have more than enough so-called reality shows out there.
i agree.O OGood I hope they get what they deserve.
Agree!!!
DOOL sucks. It’s an awful program stuck in the 70s with stories that repeat over and over and over, year after year after year. Why anyone would want to watch that is a mystery. Just like all the remaining soaps.
People are sentimental about the idea of soap operas. That doesn’t mean they’re actually good programs or should still be on the air either. I’d rather watch a rerun of Chicago Fire.
Than watch reruns
If you were defending more news programs because your a bad news conspiracy info junkie is one thing. But to give you’ re opinion over something completely unrelated is just miserable of you. There’s 5 all day news networks and three main networks with 1 already showing more news than needed and only three soaps left on daytime tv.
Do the math
Agree
Do you think that it’s possible that you watch programs that some might view as “awful”. Just curious
Chicago Fire is available anytime on PeacockTV streaming. Some of us don’t care for those shows and love Days of our Lives so both now on streaming to please both parties
You know where you can watch reruns of Chicago Fire any time you want?
Peacock.
NO ONE FORCES YOU TO WATCH!
No! People really enjoy the storyline and the characters! Daytime stories are really good!
whynot
Watch a rerun of Chicago Fire?
I totally agree.Iam upset that days isno longer there.I don’t want to pay to see. it.I already pay enough for cable. And news?Enough.
Could not have said it better myself. Been watching days for years. I pay a good chunk of money for my cable as well and I shouldn’t have to pay to watch a soap I’ve seen all this time. Enough with the news, bring back what we like!
I agree!!! Such a disappointment!!! I haven’t signed up and don’t plan on it!!!
I agree. Iturn off the TV at 1 and do something else.Dont turn it back on until local news. Like we needed another news program?!!!
I boycotted NBC on Sep 12.
I agree I will not ever watch NBC New nor turn on NBC news. We have enough news channels why take off Days of our Lives that have been on for a very long time. This was so ridiculous to of made that change. What were they thinking
$$$.
I agree.
NBC has the worst news, will never watch it! Dool needs to come back to its original time spot on NBC or they are gone for good! Terrible switch!
Exactly!!..
Return DOOL to NBC where it belongs!!!
Sadly I dont think NBC cares. Although I have heard rumors NBC wants to be the first network to go off cable and completely direct to consumer. The moves they are making make me think theres fire to this smoke
How can NBC go “off cable”. They’re owned by Scumcast, the largest cable company on the planet.
I heard NBC was bought by ABC.
No… Fox was bought by ABC. Not the right wing propaganda “news” division or Fox Sports… but pretty much the rest of the company – Fox Network…FX…the movie studio, National Geographic, etc.
I don’t think even the corporatist friendly government would allow a Scumcast/Disney merger. That would literally be the biggest corporation to ever exist in the history of mortal humanity (as it is, they’re probably each in the top 10 already)
Disney does not own the Fox Network. They do own FX, FXX, Nat Geo, the studios, but not Fox the broadcast network, nor Fox’s new studio.
And no, NBC (via Comcast) and ABC(via Disney) will never merge.
I agree. I have stopped NBC altogether. Who wants to watch more news, not me. BIG MISTAKE!
I’m sure this was expected. A non-soap watching daytime viewer will need time to see there is a new option on NBC at 1PM (or whatever time Days aired in a particular city). @Marc Hickey – whatever rumors you have heard, are just that, rumors. NBC is owned by Comcast, the largest cable company in the country (if not the world). That rumor makes no sense. Also NBC cares – they put Days on Peacock because they do believe that Days will drive subscribers to Peacock. So what NBC cares about may not jive with what you or other commenters on here care about. But yes, they do care. If NBC didn’t care about Days, it would’ve canceled it. NBC’s job is to make money. We may not agree with their methods, but if putting Days on Peacock is a success, who knows what it could lead to? Longer episodes (soaps are currently 38ish minutes)? More soaps? Bring back Santa Barbara – I jest, but hey I’d love to see it back. There was a time in the 1970s where I’m sure people said “I will never pay for cable.” Well we know what happened. It’s the same thing as people today saying “I’m not paying for Peacock.”
Most Peacock subscribers aren’t technically paying for it now. If you’re a Scumcast, Cox, or HellCable subscriber, it’s included with your internet package. So you’re ultimately paying for it, of course. But supposedly not anymore than you were paying for the same internet package before Peacock existed. (not like that matters, as these greedy companies raise their prices at least once a year anyway)
Peacock is free with your cable package for one year. If you’re paying for it with cable check your cable provider, then cancel your subscription and the following month connect it to your cable subscription. Unfortunately you will pay 5$ after that, and, like most streaming services the price is sure to increase within the next two years. Expect it.
Bring back Days. We don’t need another news program to get us more depressed.
I agree bring back DAYS to regular NBC where it’s been for 57 years. I WON’T pay for PEACOCK!!
I paid 19.00 for the year on introductory offer. I also stream Hulu live TV so I get NBC anyway but Days is worth the small fee.
No I pay enough and do not watch NBC
I agree. Bring back Days. Not going to Peacock. I refuse to watch news on NBC
Agree
i think it’s horrible you moved it. that was the only reason i pay for cable now i’m cutting off my cable bill , Days of our lives was the only thing i had to watch in cable. i’m very upset about it . screw n b c
So if the only reason you have cable is for Days, cancel cable and get Peacock. You’ll literally save hundreds of dollars a year
Me to I have been watching it for over 40 years,NBC stands for Nothing But Crap
Bring back days my 81 yr old mom watched every day why would u want take it off
I have watched Days forever and think it’s a horrible mistake to change to Peacock. I don’t want to pay to watch it!!! Very greedy
But unless you watching with an over-the-air antenna (and you might have been), you were paying to watch it. You were just paying a cable company or satellite provider, instead of a streaming service. NBC is hoping people will change the way they pay for television shows. So are all the streaming companies. We’ll see if it happens.
Don’t you pay for cable?
You got that right.
You took one of the most loved soaps off our regular programming …..there are thousands that watched it everyday. You can keep your old news shows ….
This is what has happened to All My children As the World turns One Life to Live and Guiding Light those shows are well missed even today
News is on constantly. Morning shows all morning. Local stations start at 4 anymore. On top of copycat talk and judge shows. Daytime drama and game shows for decades were the backbone of the day part until some elites decided they shouldn’t be. Big disappointment. Broadcast is available to all. Why is that considered ‘less than?’
Sadly this costs them next to nothing, so if they’re making a profit they don’t care.
Right, that was my thought exactly. Even if the ratings are way down, the costs of production are probably down even further, so they might actually be making more money this way. It’s a damn shame, really, but it’s happening all over TV, not just daytime. The amount of nonscripted programming is way up compared to previously. Most of it bores me to tears, but if they make more money off of that kind of programming than they can with scripted programming, given the lower ratings overall, that’s the way they’ll go.
It’s like it’s all news on 4 during the day. It was crazy to move Days. Now I just don’t watch 4 during the day
No body wants News, After 2020-2021 News is last place people will ever find reliable, or hours of entertaining. Networks you are losers, I prefer the Christian channel with free satellite. I advise everyone to stop wasting their money on paid online, seek free satellite.
Put days back on .Don’t need another news show it’s bad enough that you tell the same news over and over again.
There must be alot of doctors offices and airports plugged into Nielsen and airing NBC Daily, because I cant imagine anyone else purposely watching this.
It’s a news program and they still managed nearly one million viewers. That’s more than half of Days regular audience, and most likely new eyes in that time slot now that Days is cancelled on network tv. And let’s face it. Days of our Lives is essentially another cancelled American soap. Rest assured CBS soaps are for the long haul. At least 10 more years. GH will be lucky to last 5 more.
GH is gone next year unless they get out of their current slump. Adding 666 newbies to the cast isn’t going to do it. Neither is the current serial “hooker” story. And don’t get a Devil started on the “All Nina, All the Eternally Damned Time” thing….
As for the CBS soaps, they don’t air in Hell, so I don’t follow them. But I would imagine they’re watching the Days/Peacock thing very closely – and since Sony owns all three shows, they have a financial interest in doing so – and they will probably follow this lead and switch those shows over to Paramount + eventually.
Satan – GH is NOT gone next year. I wonder how long you’ve been saying “GH is gone”…
The show right now is declining more rapidly than it did between 2012 – 2015. Since they threw Jason under the bus AGAIN, the entire focus of the show has been NinaNinaNina. Then a trial over a phone porno that dragged on far too long, and the person actually responsible for that seemingly disappeared. Then you have the dumbest serial killer story ever. And Carly accidentally ends up in her old home town, facing ridiculous accusations from a pedophile’s enabler, and apparently faced with the problem of having to relocate the rotting corpse of her adoptive mother, because some DeSantis voting elitists need a new road to the beach. Oh and let’s not forget the police detective, on an endless suspension for the dumbest reasons, instantly transformed into an autotuned lip-syncing “pop star”.
How is any of this dragonshit going to keep GH going past the 60th anniversary? Because it looks to me like all they’re doing right now is treading water until they get to that milestone next April (or whenever it actually airs, given the number of preemptions this show has to deal with (another sign of how much ABC actually cares about the show)
It’s theoretically not to late to save it. Arguably, the move of Days of Our Lives to Peacock should benefit GH, as the two shows aired in the same time slot in several markets. But any potential new viewers tuning in right now probably aren’t sticking around very long. They need to bring back the Spencers – all of them – even if Luke only puts in a short visit, make this all part of the same story that rescues Holly from Cassadine Island, and of course Jason is also there, so bring him back at the same time.
They need to kick Nina back in the corner (or make her the next hooking victim) and release Sonny from this boat anchor that’s been holding him down since Tricky Dick Nixon Falls. Sonny & Carly are “endgame”, we all know it. No point in pretending otherwise. If anybody represented a true challenge to that, it would be Brenda Barrett, not Nina. And Brenda pretty much failed in her last two attempts.
General Hospital has a lot of better actors than Days of Our Lives and it’s been around for 60 years now. The longest running Daytime Soap Opera and I hope it will be around for quite sometime. If it does go to Streaming TV I will continue to watch it.
The only thing wrong with GH on Hulu (which is how we get it here in Hell now) is that they still preempt the episodes that ABC interrupts for the most trivial reasons. If Hulu guaranteed 5 episodes a week (excluding major holidays) they would probably get a lot of volunteer defections from those who either watch live or DVR the ABC daytime broadcast.
This is one area where NBC actually got it right with Peacock, while they were still airing Days. Aside from the network wide sports preemptions that were pre=scheduled months ahead of time, Peacock would stream the episodes every night, regardless of whether the live broadcast was interrupted for news stories or not.
It is one thing to say a whole show is bad, but to blame it on bad acting is insensitive. There is probably one young lady that isn’t pulling her weight, but she has come a long way and is getting better. Soaps were basically a training ground for actors to get homed on their skills. One of the reasons soap fans have left this shows is the constant revolving door.
Lol general hospital has better actors than days lol ok whatever
WE NEED ANOTHER NEWS SHOW!!! Said NO ONE EVER!!!!!
Boy if this doesn’t reek of get what you deserve we don’t need anymore news or fluff talk shows the daytime lineup continues to get worse and worse
I think that the estimate of 935,000 viewers for a NBC news program is very generous at best. Days at least had 1.6M on the average so the move is stupid. We do not need more news! I don’t trust NBC and their mission to do anything that makes sense. Forcing longtime viewers to go to Peacock shows disrespect for daytime soaps. I have also never trusted CBS or ABC either as their history of cancelling soaps is still haunting us. I know many still miss GL, ATWT, AMC, and OLTL. OLTL was bringing in over 3M viewers when it was cancelled. Bring back the soaps now!
Should have never taken Days of our Lives off. I kinda hope that it being more news which we don’t need does not do good and flunks. Maybe NBC should have listened to its loyal viewers of Days of our Lives after all. We will see with time I guess
So surprised! Doesn’t everyone especially Soap fans want to interrupt their daily Soap time to watch some news or some other damn crisis, like some dignitary in D.C sneezed or choked on their own crap that can’t wait until the evening News shows of which there are many?
NBC totally lost me! We have MORE THAN ENOUGH LIBERAL, ONE SIDED NEWS PROGRAMS. MANY DAYS WATCHERS WERE LADIES LIKE ME WHO HAD WATCHED DAYS SINCE DAY ONE! Now we are old and attempting to make our
savings, retirement and/or social security stretch to meet increased costs! Yet NBC/Peacock wants us to subscribe and pay for the privilege of watching. Sure it is “cheap” this year but I understand next year it increases more than double! No thanks! The head writers have ruined Days into the filthy dregs of today’s society any how so who wants to watch junk you gave to fast forward through in order not to see “close to porn”!
Wait, so Days was ruined by the writers but you’re upset it’s been moved to Peacock? Which is it?
TVJeff
I know you are answering Edna’s comment but I would like to say that since Peacock is so confusing for me that it’s a lot easier to quit the lousy, crazy show it’s become.
Days is now headed by a writer whose sole purpose is to convince people gay is normal. He has no concern for the show or viewers
Do you really believe that ReRon is the first gay man to write a soap??
I’ll bet that educated idiots were the ones making these decisions. There ya go.
Hahaha,NBC you got what you deserved .I got my wish.See what happenes when you replace a great show like Days nobody wants to watch your stupid a– news show.I hope it gets cancelledI wont watch your lousy network anymore. Bring back Days where it belongs .I hope you will be forced to bring back Days.
Won’t be watching. Tired of news programs and their lies. It’s the same thing over and over. Change channels and there it is again. They don’t care, but neither do I. I rarely turn my TV on anymore. Absolutely nothing worth watching. Bring back days. At least my TV got turned on for that. The storyline was wacky and insane at times, but way better than daily depressing news. Glad NBC Daily hit rock bottom. Hope it stays there. I won’t contribute to their success in any way.
I am right with you there.NBC SUCKS.I am so glad the stupid news show hit rock bottom.Bring Days back where it belongs and I just bet the ratings will jack right up So stupid moving it to Peacock.News shows are so boring
I hate that nbc did this. I had to upgrade my cable and pay for internet before even considering peacock. Unfortunately that sucked up what meager funds I had. If I had the money not sure I want all the channels I already pay for on cable just to watch days. I thought I could watch on internet but now blocked cause of peacock so thanks for that. I hate greed
I’m watching DOOL on the Women’s Network. Bring it back on NBC. Not watching NBC at 1
NBC deserves to be in last place! They have no clue who their target audience is. Bring back Days of Our Lives!! Biggest mistake NBC made was moving Days to Peacock!!
Why can’t Days be split with NBC/Peacock as other programs are?? Makes no sense what they are doing, if you want News go to CNN or Fox…bring back Days! Please…
A perfect case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Instead of having a decent number of viewers for Days, NBC now has 2 shows with a very low number of viewers. Not that NBC cares, but they should have looked at who their viewers of Days are, mostly older, on fixed incomes and a lot who do not have access or knowledge of the technology to use a streaming service. I find Peacock cumbersome to use, slow response and after being able to watch last week’s shows over the weekend, we can not get any episodes past the 19th, who do you contact about that????? The reduction in price for the 1st year is nice, but what happens when the year is up and viewers cannot afford the increased cost of the regular premium?
NBC.. YOU-MESSED UP..BIGTIME!! Now I’m saying this in support of the Days Of Our Lives fans. what you did is what ABC did to AMC and OLTL, REPLACING THEM WITH TRASH SHOWS IN THEIR ORIGINAL TIME SLOTS AND THEY GET CANCELED!! Just like The Revolution what we called the revoltion or the repulsion , took the place of One Life To Live, only lasted for 6 months, and got the axe canceled! You will never meet the match and hold the candle to raging angry long time veteran daytime drama soap fans, when you start messing with our soaps/daytime dramas! Moving DOOL to the Peacock Network away from its daytime time slot, with a 1 hour long news program!? Seriously are you smoking crack? for 57 years while continuing with the episodes.. was a huge dumbass mistake! I see the death of the show! Really. Seriously I’m not joking! When ABC did it by replacing All My children with that culinary food chat show The Spew.. excuse me excuse me! The Chew which lasted 7 years but got canceled eventually fans were pissed like fuming mad!
I understand you trying to make a profit off of the streaming Network and to rank in new viewers as well as keeping your veteran viewers.. Newsflash!: NOT EVERYBODY CAN’T AFFORD A SUBSCRIPTION! NOT EVERYBODY HAS ENOUGH MONEY OR THE PROPER AMOUNT OF MONEY TO PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION EVERY MONTH! But none of you don’t think about that do you do you?! No you don’t! But like I said I understand, but be prepared to lose this one hour new News show… Because trust me, you’re probably going to be hearing more from the Days of Our lives fans.. if this show can’t turn around and pull in the viewers it needs but we have enough news programs we don’t need anymore , kiss..it.. goodbye!
I don’t like the direction in which television is heading towards. Screw NBC now that they took Days of our Lives away from us on broadcast television.
The pairing of the host is terrible. They do not click. They have nothing to offer. Take it off.
In my are we get The Today Show from 7am-11am. Local news from 12-1pm. And again at 4-5:30pm. NBC nightly news 5:30-6pm. Local news 6-6:30, and then 10-10:30. Now they’ve added this show 1-2pm. How many news shows do we really need?????
More news is not what anyone wants to see. NBC is news in one form or another from 4am until 2pm? Why??? They already repeat themselves over and over again. Just because you have different people talking doesn’t mean they are saying anything different. We have all day news channels for this (CNN or MSNBC). Can we get some afternoon ENTERTAINMENT???
Bring back Days Of Our Lives no more news. This is so stupid
I will never watch this show. Don’t agree with taking Days off this time slot and putting it on peacock. I am a true Days fan.
Put Days back in this time slot on this channel! Realize your mistake!!!
Dedicated fans for 50 years now you want them to pay. NO WAY moved to Fox
If I wanted another news program, I would just watch CNN! I was forced to buy a streaming pro just to stay faithful to the best soap! BRING BACK DAYS OF OUR LIVES!!!!
Don’t we have enough news programs already? If they have to have another news program why not make it a program that fact checks EVERYTHING.
DO NOT NEED ANOTHER NEWS PROGRAM!! How many ways and times to say the same thing. We need programing that takes our minds away from the daily dull drums or something to laugh about. Everything in the news is depressing anymore!
Not interested in watching another so called news show!
Watched it on Sept 12th and it’s the worst news broadcast I’ve ever seen. Stories were uninteresting and the broadcasters personalities were as flat as it could get.
I find all the comments on here hilarious. You had Days for 57 years on NBC, and never trashed the network while it aired, now that its gone, your are trashing NBC and asking them to bring it back. Laughable. Why dont all of you give up cable all together its too expensive and just go strictly Internet streaming its cheaper, then you can see Days anytime, anywhere, barely any commercials and best of all, if you miss an episode its always on the app and you can watch anytime on any device. You can even watch it before the 1pm time zone.
Anonymous…You raise some interesting, logical points…on paper. But for me I want to keep it simple…one payment per month to my over priced cable company, which includes lots of unwanted programming even in it’s basic packages. Instead of starting streaming where if you add more and more services like candy at checkout. You can need an accountant to keep them paid for or cancelled. Again with lots of programming you don’t want for the one or two you do want.
Bring back Days of Our Lives. Our local NBC already goes from 7am to 1 pm with news type shows between national & local programing. Now that is till 2. You get a 2 hour break with Rachel Ray & Dr Phil then at 4 it is back to locall & world news till 6:30. Then local is back on at 10 for 1/2 hour. That is 10 1/2 hours of news type programs a day. No one wants that much news stuff. Besides the fact a lot of it is redundant. It may be hard for the big network to believe but there are still a lot of rural areas that don’t have strong enough or even any internet service to view a TV program without constant freeze ups.
Put Days of our Lives back on! So disappointed yall took it off! Can’t afford Internet or to Stream it on Peacock! Been watching it since I was a little girl! It was the highlight of my day!
bring days of our lives back to NBC and I agree we don’t need another new program who wants to watch more news or talk show when there off
Surprise surprise
Atleast NBC has the dignity to move Days to a platform that can possibly save it and invest more $ into it than just purposely trying to sabotage it for cancellation…like CBS and Sony are doing to Y n R! It’s unwatchable and embarrassing currently. And it’s been like that since Griffith pretended to head write it. I’m even shocked they shocked even clips of Nikki with Deacon from 10 years ago yesterday. The old Ranch set , the background music. So simple but so classic y n r. Now it’s awkward walking in and out all day of the same 4 rotating sets with the same 3 stories and characters. Pathetic. Too bad the viewers refuse to give up on it so cbs just keeps that lame duck Griffith at the helm. Why won’t he just quit. He can’t be respected by the actors.
Huge disappointment with NBC taking off Days. NBC is going straight propaganda pushers. No decent programs at all. So many people don’t have internet and can no longer watch a show they looked forward to seeing every day. Shame on NBC
Bring back days and get rid of the non stop biased news we’re forced to watch. Just want some escapism from my daily misery.
Days Of Our Lives
Peacock Hikes Subscription Rates for Fourth Time in Four Years; ‘Days of Our Lives’ Fans Sound Off

While recently the streaming service Peacock reported turning a profit for its first time since its infancy, now comes word that the company is raising their prices for all customers, and in some cases it stared today on August 18.
The news of the subscription rate increases marks the fourth time the NBCUniversal streaming platform has done so in four years. So, on August 18, Peacock is increasing the prices for new or returning subscribers and customers, while current subscribers will see the rate increase on or after September 17 depending on their billing cycle when they initially signed up.
Here is the new pricing to follow along: Peacock Premium (which includes ads) will be $12.99/month, up two dollars from $10.99; Peacock Premium Plus will be $19.99/month, up three dollars increase from $16.99; and the Peacock Select tier (which includes current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo shows but excludes movies, live sports and Peacock originals) will increase a dollar from $7.99 to $8.99/month.

SUBSCRIBERS CONTINUE TO PAY MORE ACROSS THE STREAMER LANDSCAPE
It was back in June that the streamer reported that aid subscribers were up to 48 million adding a 2 million net gain during Q2 in of 2026. The subscription price hikes are rampant now in the entertainment streaming industry where over the last two years for example, Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV, Paramount+ have all raised their fees to consumers.
Peacock’s tier-levels feature not only Days of Our Lives, but reality hits such as The Traitors and Love Island USA, Bravo series, and a vault of Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, The Real Housewives franchise, and Below Deck episodes as well. Pecock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers have access to sports and live events, as well.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES SUBSCRIBERS HAD A FEW CHOICE WORDS FOR PEACOCK
As Days of Our Lives fans know, the soap opera moved from NBC to the streamer back in September of 2022 after 57 years on broadcast television. When the news hit X on the price increase, DAYS fans had a lot to say about it. Here are just a few of the comments below:
“I can’t believe Peacock and can’t come to a deal with Cordya to air old episodes of #Days. That alone would bring a ton of subscribers,” to If Peacock actually cared about #Days of Our Lives, gave the show the budget it needs for better sets, cameras, background actors and enough time to tell proper stories, I wouldn’t mind paying more. If the money actually showed on screen, the higher price would be worth it,” to “I will continue to pay for a Peacock subscription as long as #Days is on it, but did we know there was another price increase coming?” and more.
So, what do you think of the new price hike increase to watch Days of Our Lives and your other favorite shows and events on Peacock? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

THE THEMES BEHIND VERONICA & JULIAN
Director Otoja Abit shared this statement on the feature film, “Veronica & Julian is about the right people who have a chance meeting at the wrong time. It’s a look at two people who don’t grow apart—they just grow up. This film is an authentic exploration of an imminent ending and how two people deeply in love got there. It aims to be quiet while telling a relatable story about modern-day relationships.”
Abit continued, “As a society, mainstream romantic films are often delivered through fantastical aspirations. I created this film believing that viewers who have experienced a breakup can relate to Veronica and Julian, depending on their perspective. They’re a couple navigating some of the most familiar obstacles in love: miscommunication, timing and pride.”
He concluded, “It’s a story about endings told through the small moments we often don’t recognize until they’re gone. With the support of the Panavision New Filmmaker Program, I approached the story with a deeper sense of visual control while maintaining the naturalism that defines each character.”

NADIA AND KYLER GOT THEIR FIRST BIG BREAK IN SOAPS
As Days of Our Lives fans know, Bjorlin is best known for her long-running role as Chloe Lane. Nadia played the part from 1999-2023 with various runs in Salem. John Oliver Recaps His ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘General Hospital’ Soap Opera Experience on ‘Last Week Tonight’

Last Week Tonight host, John Oliver had his soap dreams come true on not one, but two long-running daytime dramas, heralding it his “hot soap summer” on the Sunday night, August 16 edition of his HBO series.
As viewers recall, Oliver’s tour of soap duty began back in March when he made a request and an offer to appear in any daytime drama that would have him with certain conditions, which included: having a ridiculous and over the top character name, a juicy storyline, and a slap.
Both Days of Our Lives and General Hospital came a-calling for Oliver, taking him up on his offer and in short order. Oliver appeared on GH in the role of the head of the WSB named Z on episodes airing July 2-6, and then on DAYS in the role of Salem’s chief water inspector, Devlin St. John, in episodes that streamed the week of August 11.

FIRST STOP, PORT CHARLES
On Last Week Tonight, Oliver shared that both soaps delivered, and then launched into a comedic send-up complete with clips from some of his scenes. Starting with General Hospital.
Oliver said, “To General Hospital’s credit, they met all my requirements and more. First, my character got to arrive by a helicopter flanked by a pair of armed goons. And I got to do a dramatic walk during which I bravely shot in the general direction of a guy who was already on the ground. It’s called being an action star, by the way, unless you’re me or Vin Diesel, you really wouldn’t understand. And then in my next scene, I revealed my true identity. (Oliver played the scene where Josslyn wakes up in a hospital bed with Z standing at the side of her bed introducing himself).
He continued, “As for getting slapped, well, they knocked that and me out of the park too, because it turns out that agent’s mother was not happy with me,” explained Oliver, as they cut to the slap of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) in the WSB Port Charles bureau office on Z. Oliver screamed, “YES! It has everything! A slap, a dramatic closeup, and me doing a voice so wrong, it is genuinely embarrassing. That was my honest attempt at an American accent. I can’t tell you why it’s southern. I can only tell you I was trying my hardest.”

SECOND STOP, SALEM
Then, came John’s wrap-up of his role of Devlin St. John on Days of Our Lives, the town’s chief city water inspector. “It is on Days of Our Lives I appeared in scenes alongside soap legends like Jackée Harry (Paulina) and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). And the Days of Our Lives team met my demands in a whole different way because instead of being an international spy boss, they wrote me a character a little more my speed.”
Cut to a clip of Oliver introducing himself as Devlin St. John to Rita. He explains, “I’m the only thing standing between this town and a catastrophic plumbing failure. A literal sewage apocalypse. They made me Salem’s Chief City Water Inspector, which let’s be honest, is perfect casting. If you’re going to bottle my essence and sell it as cologne, it would be called ‘Chief City Water Inspector.'”
DEVLIN’S WIG
The late night host also clarified all the reports, that the wig he wore for his DAYS character he actually brought from home. “Now, as for the hair, I agree, it’s absolutely incredible. It’s been reported this past week that it is a wig I brought to set from home. And while it wasn’t technically from home, we did actually provide that wig, and for good reason,” joked Oliver. “I’ve seen myself act. I knew the hair was going have to do 90% of the work. I’ll be honest, I was going for a healthy John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH) look, but instead, it appears I ended up looking more like Tina from Bob’s Burgers.”

“And if you’re wondering whether I got slapped on Days of Our Lives, not only was I slapped by a man wearing elegant silk pajamas (EJ), I also got to slap him, which felt utterly incredible. But wait, I was also stabbed with a syringe and not once, not even twice, but three different times. And if that wasn’t enough, this happened too.” At that point, Oliver played the clip of Rita using the taser on Devlin.
JOHN OLIVER LEAVES DOOR OPEN FOR A SOAP RETURN
The now late night star-turned-soap actor concluded his segment with, “Are you not entertained? Watching that makes me feel the way I assume Matt Damon felt after seeing the first cut of the Odyssey, both proud and impressed that my body could even do that. Which again, you wouldn’t understand. You’re not an action star like I am now. ”
As he ended his recap, Oliver thanked both soaps for playing along, and noting that neither DAYS or GH actually killed him off! Could a John Oliver return happen down the line? Stay tuned.
