Lord, I can’t wait for spring and to start streaming these shows from my HuluPLUS. Will be nice to have more to chose from than what we have now. Showkiller Jill Farren Phelps has turned “Young and the Restless” into a 5-day-a-week joke.

I agree.GH is the only one worth watching!

LOL c’mon Y&R ,no matter how boring it is and it’s use of recycled couples it is the #1 soap..
Heck, no reporter or blogger can write Y&R as just the Y&R they have to add; the #1 soap.. which it truly is not..
GH beats Y&R hands down any day of the week ..

I like the All My Children logo best.

i wholeheartedly, agree; more soaps to choose from

try as i might… to give DAYS press…. it’s damn’ing… however, it’s my cross to bear….

GH… is helping me crest the naysayers….

Very good, simple, & to the point 🙂

Do we know if these versions will allow coarse language like the F word or will it be more family orientated?

I dont know which version you prefer but its been hinted that coarse language will be used and possibly fleeting nudity. Thats unfortunately the only way they know how to update these shows today. I dont think itll be too much, and will give it chance b4 i judge it. I know some people wont tune in even if a little coarse language is used and fleeting nudity. Hopefully ill be okay with it because i miss these shows. But if it does go beyond my taste i wont support it, and it doesnt bother me if others do.We all have our right to choose. But PP should realize these shows have an established fan base and if they add unnecesarry coarse language and fleeting nudity no matter how little they use it, those adults offended by it will tune out and wont let their children watch, and they need all the future generations they can get to keep these show running successfully. Some people claim that soaps need that stuff for these shows to compete against cable but the real test to prove thats true is to run these more adult versions against the current soaps that are on the networks. I watch Britains Coranation Street on occasion and it is written very current with multigenerational middle class blue collar families of different ethnic backgrounds written with gritty realism without too many foul language or fleeting nudity shown. Now thats groundbreaking. Too bad the people here dont all see it that way. But at the same time i dont see why we need so much reality in most all our tv shows, especially soaps. Somtimes i like to escape the real world for at least a few hours a day. But i guess im becoming part of a minority.

Personally, I don’t care either way if there’s language or not. It won’t make or break it for me as a fan. All that matters is that if the writing is good & it engages me, i’ll definitely tune in.

Grow up, will ya-I’m sick of all the bitching and complaining before one scene is shown. Watch Leave It To Beaver reruns if you can’t handle it.

uh, how am I bitching?! I asked a simple question with a straightforward “yes or no” answer.

I wasnt complaing about anything. I was answering a question plus adding how id like to see groundbreaking stories done the way Coranation Street does them with more ethnic characters and lower to middle class families. I feel todays soaps are too upper middle class. It takes more to be groundbreaking than adding a cuss word or a little t&a. These shows need good stories to bring us in. I SAID I WAS GIVING THE SHOW A CHANCE B4 A JUDGE THE DANG THING! Iv watched shows with some adult content and it doesnt bother me. I was only saying not all these shows need it to attract us fans. We like good well written drama and thats all it takes to get us to watch! If you dont like bitching or complaing what do you think you are doing now? And i do watch Leave it to Beaver reruns which by the way has outlived many of todays shows with his warm family content and for good reason. A lot of people still have morals and good taste. ” Gee whiz, Mrs Cleaver, some people just dont get it.”

I hope my response to you wasnt misunderstood like this other reader thinks. It does take good writing to engage us as you said. I wasnt bitching or complaining and i know you werent too like this other person thinks we were. All i was trying to say is that it takes more than coarse language and t&a to be groundbreaking and its good stories to hold our interest that i agree with you on.Some cussing isnt going to tune me out as well. I was saying that if i dont like what i see when i see it i wont watch. Also i felt soaps are too upper middle class and thats why i made the suggestion that our serials should be more like Britains Coranation Street which shows characters who are more lower middle class blue collar families with different etnic and social backgrounds that most of us could relate too. Its gritty, raw realism without farfetched stories with some adult content that doesnt depend too much on the latter to engage you. Its all about the drama.

I don’t love how the l in live is under the n, but I do respect and appreciate that oltl is all lower case. One Life to Live traditionally had all upper case or lower case letters as the logo (with the exception of that awful mid 90s logo where the word Life was a mix. All My Children logo looks great to me.

I’m not loving the logos.

They are too 70s and OLTL is not capitalized as a proper name should be. Not sure I like having new titles either, but the old ones weren’t great. The older blue scenes were the best.

Also I’m concerned about the photos I’ve seen. Are they building all new sets? I believe you ran an interview with Jerry van Dorn where he said PP bought all the old sets. If Llanview doesn’t look like the Llanview we all know and love, the show won’t feel right and might be difficult for fans to accept. I would for me.

Also, coarse language is a bad move, I wouldn’t watch it then. I think a lot of fans will agree on that.

What difference do the sets make? We are getting our shows back! My favorite will always be OLTL, we have the most important cast members so I’m just hoping for some really good stories.

Thank you Nancy!!!

I agree with nancylp300… My favorite soap will alway’s be OLTL also!

I like both logos. They’re different but reminiscent of the old versions.

Agreed!

I like both logos but much like the cast photos I find myself gravitating towards the All My Children the logo seems more “classic” but updated just a tad. Which is strange because my soap is OLTL nothing against there pictures and logo I just enjoy AMC’s more.

The logos look good, prefer the one for AMC. What I am really excited about is the new show openings…I would love to see OLTL use the music (although updated) from one of their old openings….”here’s where you go when it looks like the rain won’t end”….the one that Jeffrey Osborn I believe sung on.

Cannot wait for OLTL to return!

I’d love for them to use that theme song too. Peabo Bryson did the original. I’d love have Kassie DePaiva record a new version.

Here’s what you do when you don’t find the
rainbow’s end
this time
Here’s where you go when it looks like the
rain won’t end
Don’t cry
I’ll give you tommorrow
Let me be the one you share it with
And each day that follows
cause we only have ONE LIFE TO LIVE…………

I loved that song from OLTL too! I even go around humming it, driving my husband crazy, ha.

I alway’s thought Peabo Bryson was the one who sang the theme song to OLTL
year’s ago! Don’t remember Jeffrey Osborn singing it also???

I like the Oltl logo better than the Amc logo. I can’t wait to catch Amc on hulu. Thanks Prospect Park for bringing the soaps back from the dead.

Didnt they get the rights to the logos when they got the shows?

love the font but add some color to it. cant want to see #amc and #oltl excited

Elegant for AMC and a bit modern for OLTL. Like them both!

..
The One Life to Live logo is very digital modern ..

The AMClogo is in old time script ..

I do like OLTL logo best ..

These look really old and retro. Nothing new looking and progressive abt them at all. That must be appropriate though considering the lack of Asian american representation on amc. There are no Asian american chars on amc while there are only 2 recurring Indian american chars on oltl who were not even styled by george kotsiopolus for the cast photo. The Asian americans don’t get the same priority as the other chars. How is any of this new? It’s the same thing these old soaps have done before.

WHAT?????????

Have you ever been in an Asian country and told them their tv shows arent diverse enough?

LOL Jim!!

Maybe you could start your own production very soon All My Asians !

It’s great that both show return from the dead. I never watched AMC or OLTL, but I will start just to support and prove that there is still an audience for those shows…makes me miss Sunset Beach and Santa Barbara a little bit more…

Good for you. If these reboots are successful, you never know what might happen

I can’t wait to see how they do the opening sequences!!!

Loving the new logos for both series. It’s quite interesting takes on both of them. Now let’s see how the opening sequences go.

Wow, a graphic designer with a basic font library spent all of five minutes creating these logos. They look like watered down versions of the most recent logos, so what was the point?

Nice. The ‘l’ under the ‘n’ is a bit unnerving, but okay.

I like the OLTL logo! I just cant wait to hear the new themes. I hope that this time around they have closing credits. I believe that the theme music of the soaps is what makes the show! I mean any show that you love, even if your not watching it, as soon as you hear the theme you automatically know…thats my show!!!!

I hope they don’t change the OLTL ” s theme song too much! That you can’t recognize it
! Have to go with OLTL which is my all time favorite soap! Hope they didn’t mess around too much with the theme songs. I like OLTL theme as is!

I hope that Walt Wiley joins!

I have a question for everyone – Isn’t the important thing our shows are back? Isn’t this what we fought for? Why don’t we wait until the first episodes air and take it from there. I can’t wait until April to see my faves!

New? These logos are similar to the old ones. A sophomore in high school could have desinged better logos. Safe soap writers, same soap crew behind the scenes…I’m concerned how different these reboots will be and if they can attract a new audience. That is what they need to do to survive. Sadly, I don’t feel confident that there are enough changes behind the scenes to take the soaps into the future.

What are Safe Writers? Same soap Crew? Oh you mean Camera men and what not? The Soap crew had nothing to do with what happened to OLTL…..

Who was the original Dorian? Before Robin Strasser……

The logos are fine. It’s funny to hear complaints about them being similar to the old ones, when so many are afraid the shows won’t be the same as they were.

Wow couldn’t you just be happy your show is coming back! Who cares about logos and backgrounds, Just enjoy the series again. Stop nitpicking, And just be happy for the second chance!!!

Saul Consuelos, the father of All My Children alum and Live with Kelly and Mark co-host, Mark Consuelos (ex0-Mateo, AMC), has died. During an emotional moment on this mornings, April 6 edition of the syndicated talk show, Mark shared, that his dad, “passed away peacefully” back on March 23 following a long illness.

His wife and co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) paid tribute to her her father-in-law expressing, he was, “the greatest person I’ve ever known. I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”

Kelly and Mark’s children, Joaquin, Michael and Lola Consuelos are said to be taking this extremely hard. Ripa added, “This is the first loss they’ve ever experienced in their lives. And I said, ‘By the time I was 8, I had no grandparents. You got to grow up (with grandparents). You got to have deep, meaningful conversations (with them).”

In another moment, Mark reflected on his dad. “It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad … if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch. There were a lot of lectures, a lot of lectures and I learned so much. If he was fixing something in the house, he’d make me watch and do it. And I didn’t know at the time why he was doing that. But now at the house, I’m able to do at least half of the stuff that he did. I learned the most by just watching him.”

Mark added that Saul Consuelos came to the U.S. from Mexico in his early teens and served our county for decades, detailing, he “Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid.  He loved his country so much, If you’re going to put a face to an immigrant, he would be the prime example of what this country promises people.”

In a very heart-tugging moment, Consuelos shared that now its important they be there for his mother, Camilla. “We gotta take care of mom. We’re trying to convince my mom to move to New York. She’s such a character, she’s stubborn. What do you think, a cooking segment here on Fridays with Camilla?”

Now below, watch the very touching and emotional moments as Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa mourn the loss of Saul Consuelos.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Visits ‘The View’ Where Hosts Sidestep Controversial ‘Buffy’ Reboot Axing, But Talk ‘All My Children’

Published

on

By

On yesterday’s March 17 episode of The View, All My Children alum, Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), was the special guest. Since Monday, Gellar has been the subject of a hot-button issue since about the surprising turn of events that the highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, in which she stars, and which was directed in the pilot by Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao, was no longer moving forward.

Gellar‘s appearance on the ABC morning talk show was devoid of any mention of Hulu cancelling its planned Buffy: New Sunnydale, in which Sarah was set to appear along with Ryan Kiera Armstrong. However, Gellar did discuss her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come from Searchlight Pictures.

It should be noted that both Hulu and Searchlight Pictures are owned by The Walt Disney Company, while The View is produced by ABC News, which is also owned by The Walt Disney Company.

During the awkward interview, when it became clear the ‘Buffy’ reboot topic was off the table, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, talked about the “intense fight scenes” that have become a staple of her TV and film career starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scream 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The ladies of The View also brought up Sarah’s beginnings on All My Children as Kendall Hart (1993-1995), showing a scene with her and her on-screen mother, the iconic Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci. The discussion sprung out of another All My Children alum, Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) winning the Oscar this past Sunday for Best Actor for his role in Sinners. The View’s Joy Behar was quick to point out with Gellar, the All My Children alums that have gone on to great fame.

Photo: ABC

Previously on Monday, Gellar opened up to PEOPLE about being blindsided before while at the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. “I got the call as we were stepping onto stage for the premiere of their own movie. And it’s also the weekend of Chloé going to the Oscars as a best director nominee for Hamnet. For them to call us on the Friday of what should have been Chloé’s victory lap for an incredible film, and my world premiere of something that I worked very hard for is… that says something.”

She went to say, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.” Deadline reports that “multiple sources” identified the executive as Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich.

“I loved the duality that we had with this new, younger slayer who was where Buffy was when the show started, and then we would pick up with where Buffy was now,” Gellar told People about the setup.  However, according also to Deadline “After the pilot was completed and delivered, according to multiple sources, Hulu’s main note was that it played too young, with some indicating that the streamer also felt the show was too “small.”’

In the rewrite, sources also told the outlet that the writers did not take big enough swings, so they set out to do a rewrite it again. The last revision was more adult, featuring a lot more of Gellar’s Buffy, and was described as a more of a streaming show than a network one. When all is said and done there is hope that another Buffy IP will be up and running within the next couple of years.

You can check out Sarah Michelle Gellar’s full segment on The View below. Now let us know, bummed there is no Buffy reboot? What do you think about how this high profile Hollywood saga was side-stepped on the morning show? Did you love Sarah as the original Kendall Hart on All My Children?
