RATINGS: ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Catches Fire; Up Over a Half Million Viewers Since Last Year, Inching Closer to ‘The Young and the Restless’ for #1 Slot

The race for the number one show on CBS daytime and overall across all broadcast networks became more intriguing after the latest ratings for the week of June 29-July 3 were released.
According to Soap Opera Network, The Bold and the Beautiful while adding +49,000 total viewers for the week is actually up over +566,000 in comparison to last year at this time. That is over a half million viewers. Additionally, B&B was once clocked in with over 3 million viewers for the week at 3,010,000 tuning in. The week marked its second largest viewership of the current TV season.
In comparison, The Young and the Restless which consistently holds at number #1 came in at 3,217,000 with a net gain of +32,000 and also up + 300,000 from 2025 at this time. This makes 23 weeks in a row that the soap has come in with over 3 million tuning-in.
However, there is now only 200,000 plus lead by Y&R shortening the gap between the two soaps. Additionally, The Bold and the Beautiful once again topped the key demo of women 18-49 besting The Young and the Restless with a 0.22 ratings share of the audience compared to 0.20 share.

HOPE AND BROOKE’S MOTHER/DAUGHTER SHOWDOWN
On The Bold and the Beautiful, the ratings week featured the fallout of Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) being revealed as the new creative director and lead designer of Logan.
Hope’s decision to keep it a secret from her mother, Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) then showcased major confrontations and showdowns between Brooke and her sister, Katie (Heather Tom), and then Brooke and her daughter, Hope, which ultimately left viewers on the Friday, July 3 cliffhanger with Hope passing out in anguish over betraying her mother.

PATTY MAKES HER DEADLY MOVE AGAINST JACK
Over at The Young and the Restless, the week featured the aftermath of Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) surgery to save her eyesight, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) being stabbed by a vengeful Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk), Kyle (Michael Mealor) rushing to save his mother, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), and Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jill (Lauren Koslow filling-in for Jess Walton) trying to settle old grievances.
As for General Hospital, the ABC soap opera came in with just under 2 million viewers adding +27,000 for the week and up +140,000 at this time. Meanwhile, Beyond the Gates had a week of repeats, so it was down to 1,354,000 total viewers but still up +282,000 from last year.
*ratings are derived from Nielsen’s Live+Same Day Big Data+Panel viewing and DVR playback.
So, what do you think of the ratings performance of The Bold and the Beautiful? Was it one of their best week’s in a long time on-screen? Do you think they will soon be able to top The Young and the Restless as number #1 in total viewers, or do you think Y&R will continue to remain the kingpin for some time to come? ‘Beyond the Gates’ Tamara Tunie Shares Bittersweet Moment of Learning She’s a Daytime Emmy Nominee Following the Loss of ATWT’s Scott Bryce

As many are celebrating their nominations for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 30, for some it was a “mixed bag of emotions,” as detailed by first time nominee Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree, Beyond the Gates), who was named as one of the five women in the coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress category.
The Lead Actress nominations were actually announced on Monday on Entertainment Tonight, ahead of the full nomination announcement by NATAS on Tuesday. Sadly, on Sunday night, Tamara’s longtime friend, and former As the World Turns co-stars, Scott Bryce (ex-Craig Montgomery) passed away from cancer at 68-years-old.
Michael Fairman TV first reported the heartbreaking news of Scott’s death, and his beloved son, Jackson took to his Instagram to announce the death of his father, sharing, “What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumors that took his life away from him.”

THE LOSS OF ‘AS THE WORLD TURNS’ CO-STAR
Tamara spoke on receiving the recognition from peers while mourning the loss and trying to process the news of Bryce’s death via heartfelt message on her Instagram on Wednesday. Tunie had appeared on As the World Turns as Jessica Griffin from 1986-1995, 1999-2007 and 2009. She crossed paths with Bryce during several of his runs on the show 1982-1987, 1988-89, 1990, 1993-94 and 2007-08.
In her video message, Tunie explained she was at the airport in Atlanta (where Beyond the Gates is taped) and was heading to Pittsburgh for a speaking engagement, but she took a few moments to address these two moments in her life.
Tamara began her video with, “Hey family. I didn’t want to let any more time go by without expressing some of the emotions I had been feeling over the past couple of days. Many of you know that a dear friend of mine passed Sunday night. He was like a brother to me. We were friends for 40 something years and we actually met on the set of As the World Turns, a daytime drama. Monday, a mere 24 hours later, it was announced that I was nominated for an Emmy award for Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama.”
Sharing how the loss of Scott Bryce has deeply-affected her, Tamara added, “So, you can only imagine the rollercoaster of emotions that I have been feeling since Sunday night. I know my daytime soap opera brother is smiling down on me and cheering me on, and I am so grateful for this recognition from my peers. Being nominated for the first time it’s a mixed bag of feelings I have to tell you.”

Our crew, our production staff, the Beyond the Gates family is truly special.”
“To have these 15 nominations is really extraordinary. Thank you family for watching. Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for supporting me,” concluded Tunie.

General Hospital1 week agoKelly Kruger Set to Debut on ‘General Hospital’: Why Serena Baldwin Comes Back to Port Charles Revealed

More and more, this is getting too ridiculous. Instead of Summer, Y&R should give this so-called storyline to Courtney (Summer’s VERY ANNOYING BFF). And, besides, of the 2, Courtney is the real TRAIN-WRECK anyway…LOL!!!!! Yep.
Love this storyline. All awesome actors and wish them all the best.
I believe the killer driver is that evil Kelly!
Gosh, I could like this story but once again how much proof do people need to see it’s now “The Young and The Depressive”. There are some bright spots and I continually torture my soul and watch, because I’m over a 40 year loyalist to CBS’s daytime. I might have to do as I done back in November & December and skip episodes and only watch for whom I enjoy in performances. It’s sad to watch for performances and not the stories. The stories I’m liking is mighty lean.
We had Fen on drugs, Jack on drugs and now Summer with only 15 month into her tenure from Jill Phuck-up Phelps….geez! Where’s the romance at, don’t give me Tyler & Abby (I like her when in scenes with Abbotts or Newmans) or Noah & Courtney (poor RA, great talent stuck in no win story again) because there wasn’t a setup at all to have the viewers to get to know these characters as couples but it’s like Jill is throwing pasta against the wall to see if any will stick! YR writers take a clue from Days, which is doing it perfectly today. She would like the viewers to be invested in these dark, gloomy and dreaded stories and think it’s entertainment? Not to me at least but disappointment, anger, frustration and bewilderment.
JFP is the worse EP to write for women. At all her soaps she has headed, the women characters are weak, submissive, uninteresting and stereotyped always have women to fall at the feet of the men. She loves to write for male characters and have done a pretty good job for the masculine characters. The balance on YR is whacked, no romance, no levity or humor, no close friendships to say of, JFP makes “islands” on her soaps where most characters only interacting among a few and no feeling of community in Genoa City. Community feel has all characters inter-meshing with one another. They don’t have to have stories together just connections.
Why could Summer not be written as young, intelligent upcoming junior business executive at Jabot. She could be her mother’s daughter and have a side of devious attentions to move up the corporate ladder. But no we get another story coming from a soap about a girl being model, which has been rehashed & rehashed since the 1970s, nothing fresh or creative.
I just want my YR to be somewhat good & entertaining again, I know it will never be as Bill Bell’s YR but please writers stop using old writer’s ideas and put some imagination into the writing and let the viewers be inspired to watch.
OH it could be corrected quite easily by Kay Alden, Jack Smith and Ed Scott, sigh…..Bill’s team!
I like how you think. You should bring some of your insights to GetGlue. Com.
Would love to have you weigh in on the Y&R discussions.
I call it “The Dead And The Depressing”. If everything I have read on Jill Farren Phelps is True, I Wonder How Long CBS Is Going To Allow Jill To Torture Hunter King!
I find it ironic that after all the brouhaha about HK that she now has this big story coming on. If all of this was to work up publicity for her upcoming storyline I think that more than one person should be fired from this show. This whole sceniero reeks of something underhanded. You now what they say in show biz…..there is no such thing as bad publicity. This just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
And mine too, unless they either kill her off or keep her in a coma for a couple mts. and replace her with a more suitable Summer.
So predictable, of course Sharon will be off the show somehow, they won’t let her get away with her support of MM, be sure of that, she will pay but I think she knew what is coming, they knew she was close to MM, so why not give her a story that will eventually send her away, now Hk can get front and center attention without even saying a word, how convenient. If they say this was before all the MM stuff they are full of it.
I agree 100 %. I think she (H.K.) will be taking over the screen with one big story line after another just to keep her happy. Well once M.M. is gone I don’t give a hoot what happens. Ratings for Y&R are up right now but that’s because everyone wants to see M.M. final show. The joke is M.T.S (Nikki) & J.M.( Nick Newman) think its because of them. Read their twitter. Like their taking credit. Maybe next time guys hee hee!!
The story just got more interesting.
Not watching knowing what has alleged went down behind the scenes makes my stomach upset.
I think it is time to put Jill Farren Phelps in a COMA!!!
Jacqueline…you just made my day…HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Anyway, I don’t know if putting that fire-breathing JFP in an actual COMA would help. I mean…JFP is so heartless and so arrogant…so much so that she might like the coma. LOL!!!!!
I wish this young actress well in this storyline and hope she really pulls it off. So much pressure on her right now. I’ll be watching.
Maybe she should cancel her contract and leave while in a coma. That way the pressure is off her.
It seems like the wrong angle for the canvas right now. Last year at this same time we just finished Jack’s popping pills for pain– the we had Fen taking drugs, and now we have Summer. Is Courtney some kind of undercover cop? Or is Alex aka Zach a dirty cop selling drugs? I’m sure this twist has to be related to the Summer popping pills story. If they can related all three “drug stories” to this Courtney and Alex thing — okay, but just as a separate story– it has been down too often in the last year to go down that route yet again.
OMG
mind numbing
juvenile
teeny bopper
bubble gum
barbie
this is the best they can come up with?
UGH… at the very least… any modeling stories… should be left to B&B
why don’t we just prescribe coma’itis for the audience as well
I think that if I was in a COMA and someone had Y&R on, I would DIE!
@Jacqueline that has to be the funniest comment I have heard in a while and so refreshing! Right about now I am wishing they had never aged this character 10 years for all kinds of reasons.
LOL.
that is hilarious!
high 5 Jacqueline
very refreshing… in light of
Good one
Sharon would feel doubly guilty Jacqueline.
Jacqueline I wish I had thought of that , especially lately. HA HA
Phyllis would be so impressed that her daughter is in a coma just like her. Where in the hell are the writers? This is so stupid. Hunter is used to better writing on her Disney show!
I think all of the media attention has been leading up to this story line coming out .. Wow…anything to get the fans to stop watching the longest standing # 1 soap in the USA… The story lines are falling into place now…. I have not watched since the day Michael Muhney announced that he had been fired..Been watching the show since its original air date back in 1973… If MM is gone ..Then so am I…
I hope she stays in a coma and never wakes up.
Pam…me, too…LOL!!!!!
Kill her off the show!!! Take JFP with her. Y&R is going down the tubes very fast. It won’t be long now. Bye Bye 1st place rating.. Hello B&B!!
Not that or matters to me which company picks up the two shows, I just want them both to return. However I am highly disappointed at ABC simply because they owned those shows so they had absolutely NO reason whatsoever to cancel them. Y on earth did they do so???? I REALLY & TRULY HOPE & PRAY that Prospect Park sues the pants & panties off ABC if this ENTIRE ISSUE goes to trial. I LOVE AMC & OLTL…But ESPECIALLY OLTL. I want them both to return in a HURRY!!!!
How sad today. Its getting closer guys. Billy in Adam’s condo knows something and Adam almost cried when Billy left. What marvelous actors and what a shame we lost them and Hunter King I hope she dies in the coma. I can;t stand to see her or Eric Braden.
ITA! After Summer dies we actually find out that neither Nick or Jack is Summer’s dad, but that Danny Romalotti is the father of Summer!
That would be a funny one Sharonda. But as long as they kill her off I don’t care. The stupid way the story goes she will probably need a blood transfusion and that will tell the answer. But I made myself a promise once Adam is off at the end of the month so am I & the only thing I’ll vote for is Bold & Beautiful and General hospital.
After all the Michael Muhney/Hunter King ongoing saga, I wouldn’t be surprised if they leave her in a coma, let her die, or send her off on a modeling assignment and let her contract run out, like they did Michael Muhney. Never more to see her again.
Today Chelsea & Adam got married. It was so sad to hear Adam promise Chelsea how he would spend his life making her happy but with tomorrow’s previews as he says goodbye to Jack that old fool that has his big ugly nose in everything walks in. I just knew he would have to spoil the moment. What I like about Victor is the Mute button on the T.V. gets some usage.
Fran…I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! I cannot stand old Igor…I mean Victor (LOL!!!!!), either!!!!! And…that’s how I feel when that annoying wail-fest Nikki cries and rambles on and on about ‘her son’ Dylan The DULLARD…I reach for the Mute button on my remote control…QUICKLY!!!!!!! Yep.
