Jerry Douglas Weighs-In On Y&R Scandal Citing: "I Think Bill Bell Would Be Turning Over In His Grave!"

And it’s the story that just keeps on giving, unfortunately! Now longtime soap veteran, Jerry Douglas, who currently plays the ghost of his former Genoa City patriarch, John Abbott, weighed-in on the dismissal of Michael Muhney as Adam Newman from The Young and the Restless!
In an interview with Rumor Fix, Douglas starts off by saying the beloved creator and head writer of the number one soap opera, Bill Bell would be,”turning over in his grave” over the behind the scenes drama that has played out all over social media!
Douglas went on to say about Muhney’s setside behavior: “I watched him work a couple of scenes with Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and there were a lot of battles that went on there that were unnecessary. Eric is an old pro and does good work. This guy seemed to be high strung and emotional. He would just blow up in the middle of the scene for things that aren’t that important. Eric told me this (heated arguments) has been going on for a long time … I know the producer has had meetings with him because I saw Michael walking out looking upset.”
The veteran actor went on to say about Muhney: ” Sony and the producers showed tremendous patience by not firing him long ago.”

‘One Life to Live’ Alum Tuc Watkins Joins Cast of Brett Goldstein’s Prime Video Series ‘Escorted’

Tuc Watkins (ex-David Vickers, One Life to Live) continues to be booking role after role, and now comes word that the Llanview soap alum has joined the cast of Escorted, the upcoming comedy series from and starring Ted Lasso and Shrinking star, Brett Goldstein.
According to Deadline, Tuc has signed on for the production of the series, where he will play the role of Neil, who looks like a cowboy. However, here’s the catch! Neil is a trainer at a high-end gym and a male escort to wealthy woman on the side. Shades of Llanview’s David Vickers, for sure!
In the premise of Escorted, a divorced Manhattan dad, played by Goldstein, accidentally becomes a male escort in a romantic comedy about sexual dynamics, keeping secrets, and whether real intimacy can ever be bought.

Prime Video ordered the eight-episode, half-hour single-camera romantic comedy from Brett Goldstein last November. Goldstein will star, executive, produce, write, and co-showrun. In a statement, Brett expressed, “I’m so excited to bring a wholesome show about condoms, co-parenting, and cosplay to Amazon.”
As for Watkins, he is currently recurring on Hulu’s Paradise and appeared in the second season of ABC’s Shifting Gears. His other TV credits include: HBO Max’s The Other Two, Showtime’s Black Monday, and series regular roles on ABC’s Desperate Housewives, Showtime’s Beggars and Choosers, and more.
In addition, Tuc has a recurring role in Shemar Moore’s upcoming S.W.A.T. Exiles for Starz which premieres on September 25. Watkins numerous film credits include: The Mummy, The Good Shepherd and Retake. Watkins recently wrapped the indie feature, Cowboy, and in 2025 starred in the feature Exile Interviews.
So, what do you think of Tuc’s new role as a male escort to wealthy woman in Escorted? Looking forward to seeing him S.W.A.T. Exiles? Let us know via the comment section below.

Y&R’s Victoria and Kyle’s Love Affair to Kick-Off; Amelia Heinle Says EP Sally McDonald Shared Why; ‘You’ve Got Chemistry’ with Michael Mealor

A day many fans of The Young and the Restless have been dreading, and others are down for, is here. Beginning with the Thursday, August 27 episode of The Young and the Restless, Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) will have sex taking their growing attraction to each other to another level.
But why is Y&R heading down the path of an older woman/younger man, Newman/Abbott, former love interest of Victoria’s daughter Claire (Hayley Erin) and all the complications with longtime waring families? Because to the series, it will generate story to come.
Two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Amelia Heinle revealed to TV Insider, how she found out what she suspected that the powers-that-be were setting up a romance between Victoria and Kyle.

Photo: JPI
“At one point a while back, I noticed Kyle was always coming to talk to Victoria or we’d run into each other and I told Michael, ‘I don’t think they would ever put us together, but this is kind of funny because it feels like they’re trying to test our chemistry, which would be really, really odd,” recalled Heinle. ”
“But that memory passed quickly. And then I walked off set one day after finishing a scene with Michael and I got called up to our executive producer, Sally McDonald’s, office and she said, ‘We’re giving you a romance with him.’ And I’m like, ‘Who?’ And she said, ‘Him,’ and she pointed at the monitor because Michael was still on set. I was like, ‘Oh, OK. Are you sure?’ And she was like, ‘Uh-huh. Yup. You’ve got chemistry.’”
Once she learned the news, Heinle talks with Michael Mealor to make sure he was OK with the romantic story turn. “I walked up to him one day on set when I found out and said, ‘Do you know about this yet?’. Hw was like, ‘Yeah,’ and then I said, ‘So, are you OK?’ And he said, ‘Are you OK?’ And I said, ‘I’m good. I think we could make something out of this,’ and he said, ‘I do, too. I plan on leaning into it all.’ So, we were in agreement. Michael and I have always gotten along. We’ve always liked each other.”

The storyline was started by now former Y&R head writer Josh Griffith. So now that Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor are in place as the new co-head writers of the top-rated soap, things could change dramatically or go full steam ahead.
Heinle offered up, “It’s not going to be boring, that’s for sure. I feel like right now with the new writers coming in, it’s a work in progress. I feel like we’re seeing how it goes. They’re fully committed to it, but nothing is set in stone in terms of the story yet.”
So, where do you stand? Do you want to see Kyle and Victoria rip the clothes off of each other, have sex and have a torrid affair? Do you think it’s wrong for Victoria to be sleeping with her daughter’s former boyfriend? What side of the fence do you land on with this pairing? Let us know via the comment section below.

Dolly Parton Remembered: Y&R Alum Alyvia Alyn Lind Shares Heartfelt Tribute to the Legendary Singer and Songwriter

The world is in mourning on Tuesday, August 25 with the news of the passing of iconic and beloved country western singer/songwriter/actress Dolly Parton. The 11-time Grammy winner crafted and performed memorable hits such as “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” 9 to 5″, and “Here You Come Again, ” to name but a few.
Parton died in Nashville today. She was 80-years-old. Not only was Dolly an iconic name in the world of music, she was also an actor, producer, playwright, theme park founder (Dollywood), and a noted philanthropist.
One of the people lucky enough to know and experience the life of Dolly through a different lens was Alyvia Alyn Lind, the one time Faith Newman of The Young and the Restless. Lind played the role of Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) daughter on and off from 2011-2021.

ALVIA ALYN LIND PLAYED A YOUNG DOLLY
However, it was Lind, who portrayed a young Dolly in the television movie adaption of Parton’s song and book “A Coat of Many Colors” in 2015, and its sequel in 2016 Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.
Parton and Lind shared a close bond following the project, famously performing a touching, emotional duet of Parton’s song “Angel Hill” together on Hallmark’s Home & Family.
Taking to her Instagram just a short time ago, Alyvia paid tribute to the one and only Parton, expressing, “I am truly at a loss for words. There are some people who come into your life and leave a mark that can never be erased. Dolly was one of those people. will forever be grateful that I had the privilege of knowing her, learning from her, and carrying a piece of her with me through such an important and formative part of my childhood. Getting to play Dolly changed my life, but getting to know her changed my heart. Memories, lessons, laughter, and a light that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”
Alyvia added, “The world will never be the same without her, but that light will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to experience it. Thank you for believing in me, for teaching me, for letting me be a small part of your story, and for being such a meaningful part of mine. Rest peacefully, Dolly. You will be missed more than words can ever say. Thank you for everything. ❤️
FAMILY ANNOUNCES THE DEATH OF DOLLY PARTON
Parton also starred alongside Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman in the smash 1980 film 9 to 5, and later roles in films including: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Rhinestone, Steel Magnolias, Straight Talk, and Joyful Noise.
Parton’s death was announced via her official Instagram post by her nephew, Bryan Seaver on behalf of the Parton family. He shared the news in a video statement. You can see that below.

Days Of Our Lives2 days agoBrytni Sarpy Joins the Cast of ‘Days of Our Lives’

I think everyone associated with Y&R needs to keep quiet. So far, Michael Muhney (through his tweet) and Hunter King (by not responding at all) have shown class. I no longer have any respect for the cast members who have made negative remarks regarding the situation. As far as I am concerned, they should not have gone public with their opinions.
I feel just the opposite. They are, as you said, cast members. It effects their show, possibly their ratings…and some may feel the injustice being perpetrated against the young actress. If indeed Muhney did this…and they’re either sure of it because they witnessed it…believe her because he’s a bit unsavory behind the scenes…then I think they have every right to jump to her defense. She may not be speaking because she was advised not to…but that doesn’t mean that her castmates don’t feel protective or the urge to set the record straight. I commend them for putting themselves out there in such a heated situation.
When I was sixteen, I experienced the same thing as Hunter. I did not want everyone knowing about it and especially making comments. Also, whoever “leaked” this story, should be ashamed of themselves. It was a private matter that concerned only Hunter, Michael and their employer. Now it has become everyone’s business. This is so unfortunate, especially since we have only heard one side of the story.
I should clarify my comments. I do not mean to imply that the “story” is true. We have no actual facts regarding the matter.
No one knows what happened and irregardless of your longevity and respect on a show none of these cast members need to weigh in with these cryptic posts/news stories and so on. If they are trying to make MM look bad they are only achieving the opposite by spouting off their opinions on a case that is clearly headed to litigation. MM is the wise guy here for real. Keep quiet till time to speak.
I agree with rebecca1.
Those still in the show are going to want to saty in the show, so obviously none of them will say anything against their boss. It’s fear to lose their jobs that get them talking.
Even if it were true MM argued a lot with Eric, who is to say he didn’t have good reason? We will never know the truth.
MM is an important and great actor on the show. To let him go was a humongous mistake.
Agreed…love eric braeden, but they finally have a replacement down the road to fill his shoes..cant say that about anyone else there..including Nick…whom I love, but is actor has a soft side, unlike Micheal…they should have nipped in the bud…long ago….Even the Hunter issue…..
Didn’t Jill Phelps bring Hunter from Hollywood Heights along with the other two recently hired actors. Not saying I know this for a fact but maybe this was Jill’s way of getting rid of MM. They are all actors remember. Also this isn’t the first actor that Eric B has had issues with on the set. He and Peter B got into a fist fight years ago. I think Eric thinks he is really Victor, I wish Y&R would loss both of them.
My mistake – I agree with jb44. Got mixed up from cell phone being small screen. Lol
I wish people would pay more attention to what the cast members have actually said rather than read what they think is being said into their statements. With Mr. Douglas, for example, he referenced a long-standing problem related to MM’s “high strung and emotional” behavior. Same with MTS and EB. None has said a word about groping or a young actress being involved. That was a rumor from an anonymous source who everybody ASSUMED they knew to be the author. I’ve got no dog in this hunt either way, but I’m astounded at how thousands have weighed in on this one’s or that one’s guilt without a shred of evidence that the ASSUMED reason for termination involved this young woman, who remains silent. No one has produced the supposedly filed police reports or any real proof that there is a shred of evidence that sexual harassment is at the heart of this story. People want it to be true, but even MM admits that his hubris was the reason for his termination. If the cast is right in their comments, MM was a disruptive and argumentative (and thus time consuming/money-wasting entity on the set), and his uber-need to get every scene perfect, his performance outshining his costars, and his own belief that he was a better actor than his costars, especially the veterans on set, could well be all there is to this story. It’s not as exciting as making the guy out to be a sexual predator, but I’ve yet to hear any of the other actors make that assertation. Tommy Garrett hates JFP and Angela what’s-her-face, so his campaign is as tarnished as anyone else’s in this fight. Granted, both women are killing the soap, but that is a separate matter than in finding the truth about what did or didn’t happen here. It just seems like there are way too many agendas at play here and none of them is focused on the truth, just is assigning guilt and getting revenge. Sorry to be so long-winded just to say the obvious: we need calmer voices at the table no matter what the outcome may be.
@ Gracie Please go read Lynda Hirsch column she is out of Cleveland, Ohio and she has been doing this forever when my husband and I lived in Cleveland for four years she was your go to gal. Trust me I may not always agree with her but she is an honest woman she knows how this works.
These cast members are only speaking up to get the free publicity and the spotlight on themselves. Jerry Douglas will of course stick up for good ole boy buddy EB. He knows whos really in charge of the show, GRAMBO Braeden! This entire mess reminds me of the movie Soap Dish.
To k/kay: I don’t doubt for a minute that Lynda Hirsch is a great columnist. The same could be said of Nelson Branco, out of Toronto, and he, too, has an inside track within the Y&R organization. He has a very different slant on the situation than Lydia. That’s the problem. Everybody has an opinion. I just suggested that people listen only to the words of those who have actually been on-set and witnessed what was going on. They are the key to understanding what the truth. Everybody else is just guessing.
Oops, my bad. I meant Lynda, not Lydia. By the way, I did go read what she had to say, but I didn’t see anything new. She seemed to only rehash what everyone else has. No offense meant, it’s just that I was disappointed.
Jerry Douglas is 81 years old, he doesn’t need PR as he is a daytime legend – I liked his comments much more than EB’s puffed up bloviating, and he doesn’t seem to have to wait ten years to bother remembering the names of people – his comments were classy, quick and to the point, and unlike EB he doesn’t seem to have an axe to grind, he is just stating the truth as he saw it – I also agree about Bill Bell turning over in his grave – I have been watching TV for over 50 years and I can’t ever remember a mess as big as this one, just goes to show that you have to be twice as careful about what you do and say in the age of social media.
Totally agree & I’ve been watching long like you.
Luke well said !!! Pretty much exactly what I feel!!
Jerry Douglas a very classy man with no ax to grind
Who absolutely needs no pr was calling it as he sees it and did so in a very
Classy way!
More Hollywood actors should follow his lead!
DITTO….
both. Theres no doubt Michael has a temper . Then again its not unusual to have a blowup with Braeden . This looks like a shameless plug for himself at Michael’s expense though
personally I think there are TOO MANY OPINIONS being given! this whole situation involved two actors and the PTB, those should be the only ones speaking on the matter. The actors who are screaming at the fans on twitter should SHUT UP, and the fans who are screaming at the actors involved (in favor of or against) should also SHUT UP) I think both parties should either make statements that directly address the issue at hand or they should say NO COMMENT and move on. One party has made a psuedo comment that people are interpreting whichever way suits their point of view, and the other has remained silent, which isn’t helping her case at all. The PTB seem to all be cowering in a corner somewhere, just watching this crap all play out, and in the end will it affect the ratings, yup I think so!.I hope they understand the power of the Fans. I also feel that a few of the Actors getting into it on twitter are doing so just to keep their faces relevant, they have absolutely NOTHING to do with this situation, although they say they are “sticking up” for a co-worker. Said co-worker, was the one who insisted on the other being fired and seemed to be able to stand on her own two feet during the whole thing. Stand by her at work, call her on the phone, but don;t get into it with the fans on social medial, you look like IDIOTS. EB is shouting at people, telling them they don’t know what they are talking about, that their opinions don’t count, does the dude know this isn’t a script he’s reading from, where he has control! he isn’t the KING here on the internet, he is just a human being like the rest of us. Oops got a little long winded there, sry. I for one, do support one of the participants but have just decided to move on to another daytime show and give them my support, buy those advertisers products and live my life. JMO and yes EB I am entitled to that!
Bren I want it fully investigated on when these allegations were made I do not believe that she fired him the minute it was made I think she sit on it and I resent the actors speaking out and covering for her. If you get hired to be a leader then be a leader. I am talking about JFP. Little known fact about her she always favors men actors over female.
I think we need an official statement from TPTB and MM, not from other actors on the show that were not directly involved with what transpired. It needs to be put to rest once and for all! CBS and Sony need to set the record straight!
Wow this should stop all the talking about MM
I think it’s obvious that Bell would be upset. I also think if Bell were here, this wouldn’t have happened
Frankly, I think they all need to keep their traps shut. Just adding fuel to the fire unnecessarily.
I tend to agree with Jerry Douglas, if this was going on for a long time; as previous stories that had surfaced in the last year or two confirmed; Y&R executes he been more than lenient. It seems the sexual harassment issues were intolerable. That is sad because Muhney was an excellent actor – such behavior can derail his career.
If he did it you shouldn’t be worried about his career. He deserves whatever downfall he gets…
derail his career & his marriage…
Seems to me that Douglas has just created more Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) haters..
We all know MM and EB fought like cats and dogs, and it takes two to tango..
People speaking against Michael will only rile his fans to jump on the hate Eric Braeden ..
I noticed, Douglas and Braeden did not say MM was let go because of any an incident with HK ..
I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Braeden on the set of Young And The Restless a few years ago (a friend of mine was good friends with one of the crew members on the show)….and Eric was nothing short of a charming, inviting, classy gentleman. To make a blanket statement like “Douglas has just created more Eric Braeden haters” is just plain silly. I actually like Eric Braeden more now, if that’s even possible, since a seasoned professional has spoke up in his defense.
Why bother putting this out…no matter how much these people come foreward and talk about M.M.’s alleged ‘bad boy behavior’ the fans will still come to his defense. Eric and Peter nearly came to blows and neither one was fired, Jeanne Cooper groped and touched but she didnt get fired(but in her case did anyone complain, just asking) a lot of actors arent easy to work with behind the scenes ect. ect. We dont really know M.M. as well as you know his character Adam…he could be Dr. Jekyl one minute and Mr. Hyde the next…who knows maybe he is innocent in all this and his bad attitude stems from being mistreated somehow by cast members jealous by his immense popularity?…maybe he is a jerk as alleged?…we arent around him enough to know the real M.M. No one is perfect…we all have a bad side and some are better at keeping it under control than others but in a blink of an eye that could change. Look at me for example…when people meet me im so nice and friendly…id never do anything bad?…think again…a few weeks ago i was at the deli of a supermarket where they had free samples…a sign clearly said ‘Limit one free sample per customer, please!’. Well, while the deli clerk’s back was turn, i snuck 3 samples when i just read the sign that said ‘Limit 1 per customer’. So, you see people you may think someone is good and not do bad things but look at me now…i lost control at the deli and took extra free samples when there clealy was a limit…i can be bad too…lol!!!
I would suggest you return those samples immediately.
But i ate them…i dont think they’d want them back…especially the way they turned out several hours later if you know what i mean…lol
yep; unfortunately I visualized just what you mean! 😉
Hi jimh, In the JC situation, the performers involved may have been too scared to complain.
They may have laughed it off as a defense mechanism. Of course, Y&R could have swept it under the rug because she was the matriarch.
I still believe those choices have manifested into what is now happening.
I hope I never here anything like that involving Francis Reid (spelling?). Of course, DAYS ratings would probably hit the stratosphere. It’s a shame good storytelling in front of the camera is trumped by behind the scenes scandals.
Do you here me DAYS?
Do you hear me DAYS! Create great scandals behind the scenes to go along with the brilliant stories in the show. Ratings gold!!!
Yes Mr. Douglas and why did the young woman have to make two complaints and why did they not investigate earlier. I believe that is what I am most concerned about is the lack of leadership for the safety of the cast. How long did JFP sit on these allegations?
JFP has not been at Y&R for 40 years.
Huh? And the earth is not flat, what does that have to do with this person’s comment?
What does that have to do with anything? These allegations concerning HK went down on her watch.
The way I understand it, there’s been sexual misconduct going on for many years at Y&R!
AMEN……Finally a veteran of the show makes a comment and all the MM faithful seem to be quiet. He has absolutely no reason to lie, I feel that by saying what he has, he has help the VICTIM so very much. Now PLEASE, let this story die down for all involved.
The MM fans will always be faithful 🙂
The truth has yet to be told the facts to be seen, wait for it..
Jerry Douglas’ comments have only kept the fire raging. As each cast member tweets their hate for Mr. Muhney, the backlash against the show only hardens fans on each side of this mess. For the love of God, just keep quiet.
This has been going on for nearly a month now. Enough. The lynch mob has seen MM fired and publicly humiliated. His career and family are in shambles. What more is needed? A public execution to satisfy the blood thirsty? Ms King’s reputation is damaged in Hollywood. She is subject to scorn. What more do we need here?
Stop this madness and start some healing. It’s like I’m watching a pack of rabid wolves rip this show’s carcass apart.
Well said!
I have tremendous respect for Jerry Douglas – he has always been one of my Y&R favorites and a class act.
I have no doubt either that Bill Bell would be turning in his grave over these recent events.
I just think this is getting completely out of hand.
Let it be handled behind the scenes and stop all the commentary.
I think that IF the stars would stop making comments and if the media would stop reporting everytime one of them sneezes then eventually the fans will calm down.
It seems like that evertime the fire starts to die down someone throws another log and get’s it raging again.
This guy is a shit stirrer. Let’s not forget Jeanne Cooper’s comments about Brenda Dickson’s firing and how ‘unnamed’ actors on Y&R made Brenda’s working life intolerable in her last months and treated her reprehensibly. Michael Fairman has that interview with Jeanne, if you would like to refer back to it for the benefit of your readers.
in hindsight…
and yes, it’s pretty clear… the cast.. for fear of retribution? wouldn’t dare… speak up about the current production team… ? that is so lacking… that is so remiss… that is so dull… that is producing the most boring product… in 25 years?
honest to God…
fans be damned… so be it…
going to Genoa City is no longer interesting
and the longer, TPTB continue this route… it’s a slap in the face and demeaning to “The Fans”
and… heck yeah… fans do backpedal… cast changes do come and go… and the writing STINKS… human resources… procedures.. should have been in place.. to prevent.. cast mishap….
I LOVE that Michael Muhney… cared about Y&R… Passionately, SO. I’m proud to have bore witness to the finest actor that has ever graced CBS -Sony – Y&R
one of….
give us a break….
Jill Farren Phelps… are you so indisposed… and struggling with your regime… that you’ll dismiss your audience
well… I hope… in droves… we follow suit… and click boom Y&R
just turn you off
Jerry! They should have never made you a ghost!! You should have married Mamie and lived happily ever after. But she won the Lottery and just took off. with nary a look back. But I do enjoy your scenes with Peter Bergman–I love you playing Jack’s conscience and you do it so well. And no one dresses better than you do.
I think you’re a gentleman and perhaps you are using euphemisms when you say that Sony and JFP exercised great patience in delaying the firing of Michael Muhney. If, and I am underling if, he was indeed guilty of these charges, and the young girl really did not feel secure in the work environment, it was their legal obligation to fire him on the spot. The fact that they did not does raise an eye brow or two. And it’s interesting that the only time you saw him having meltdowns was when he was in scenes with Erica Braeden. From what I have read and understand, EB did not memorize his lines, he had cheat cards planted all over the set and he is notorious for add libbing. I would imagine this would not go over well with the consummate professional who memorized his lines. It must have been very frustrating.
In any case, Jerry, can you come back to life as John Abbott again? The Abbott mansion has not been the same without you.
Not a ghost of a chance!
Poor Peter Bergman the old guy comes out saying EB is a pro a pro who assaulted his on screen son and is still looking for fights.
Erica Braeden, huh??? Now that’s funny…LOL!!!!! And true.
Okay lets face facts the kind of behavior Mr Douglas speaks about have been going on for years all across a number of Hollywood sets– it is unprofessional yes, but not hardly shocking. Most production companies have people to handle those kind of situations. Most studios have major money invested in whatever show they are filming so keeping the talent happy and in line is a common practice even going back to early days. So if they really wanted him gone for that behavior they would not renewed his contract last April.
I agreed with others that said it’s time for everyone including fans to let this go.
im sorry but the media and yes that includes you too micheal fairman are just adding fuel to the fire with all these stupid statements,,i use to love your interviews but this is the last time i read anything by you,,shame on you,,,
Michael Lied other cast member will now speak up and come forward there not gonna Lie And thats Sexual Harrasment to wards Hunter And Michael brushes it as she was Into HIm And Michael thinks this is Funny Gets His twitter friends To back it Up .
As a psychologist I can’t help but wonder if a psych eval on muhney would be beneficial. He is very talented but does display certain traits of a narcissistic mood disorder. Maybe he should be offered some help and if after treatment be given a second chance. After all, we all deserve one.
🙂
At any job I have ever had, if we were to comment publicly on somebody’s firing to the press or social media, we would get written up or, more likely, fired. I don’t know how the actors of this show can be doing what they’re doing and think it makes them look good. Some seem to be actively celebrating on Twitter. Does CBS/Sony have any kind of Human Resources? My respect for a lot of these actors has dropped.
Going out on a limb here….I won’t say I believe or disbelieve the comments made by JD or EB about Muhney’s behavior….but, other than being “highstrung” & “emotional” is it possible that the man has something like bi-polar disorder that is either not being treated or he is not taking medication for if prescribed? NOT trying to start another rumor…just looking for a plausible explanation for his behavior…if it is as what has been said (including MAB’s statements).
Or, perhaps he was just frustrated by his co-workers “phoning it in”?
I look at it more as if Hunter were my own daughter. What would I want then. I don’t care who is doing the groping, an 85 yr old woman vs a young man? It is still sexual harassment. I can see why she hasn’t gotten on the comment thing. It’s embarrassing. I think Michael is a good actor, but if this did happen, then he should have been fired. If not, then truth will out.
I believe there is two sides to every story, and to correct a previous poster, Jerry Douglas is still employed by Y & R as a reacurring character’s ghost. I do believe that Eric is an ass and assaulted Peter Bergman & Mathew Muhney and was never fired for either but Mr. Muhney is accused and presumed guilty, is that fair ??? I do not like the current management of JFP & the writing is horrible and I’m finding the show boring, most likely will stop watching because all my favorite actors are leaving or getting fired.
Michael Muhney , sorry for the autocorrect incorrect name.
Braeden can be difficult (we all know that)..but I KNOW that wherever “JFP” (Darling that she is,and hated by many) is..and every show she has wrangled her way into, has turned to discension, and catastrpohy with firings, and storyline problems. She has a name unprecedented in the industry. I can only imagine if Jeanne Cooper were still around how this will have played out. I have never met “MM”, so I can’t make a comment about him. Y&R is really boring. But,really, after 40 years, where do You go with “story” material. “JFP” is going to put the ax right in it. And, in my humble opinion, Jerry Douglas should have never been “killed off” the show. He’s right. Bill Bell would be turning over in his grave.
Jerry Douglas has never shared a scene with Michael Muhney. His nasty comments about MM’s work should have remained with him. Each actor is different and he didn’t know the context of MM’s method. It was an unprofessional jab to take and the low road to kick someone they don’t know. Very disappointing and an obvious attempt to make his old friend Eric Braeden look good. I guess these guys think the fans are really dumb.
I posted that exact comment somewhere last week…if Bill Sr. could see what’s happening to his creation, he’d be turning summer salts in his grave. Would have been nice though, if Jerry hadn’t jumped on the band wagon to trash Michael Muhney. I’m tired of everyone speculating and give the fans facts. I want to hear from TPTB the REAL reason MM was fired and if it was for his attitude, then what steps were taking to correct that before he was fired. Just like Bill Sr. warned Braeden & Bergman what would happen to BOTH OF THEM if they ever got into it again. That was all it took for them to never go there again.
John Abbott was killed off, so Jerry doesn’t have to be concerned with retribution other than never having a recurring role on Y&R again. But what do you expect him to say, he works for CBS! In the “couple” (2) times Jerry claims to have observed EB & MM on the set getting into A LOT of unnecessary battles, he fails to elaborate what those battles were about…..only that he felt they were unnecessary. Then he goes on to describe MM as “high strung” and “emotional”. It sounds like he has based more of his negative opinion regarding MM from the word of his old buddy, Eric Braeden, rather than his own observation.
Winners of People’s Choice Awards said it best this past week, “I have to thank the fans for giving me the opportunity to do what I love.” It’s the fans who have made Y&R the #1 soap for the past 25 years. This scandal is dividing the cast and the fans. And if enough of the fans hold true to boycotting Y&R after Jan 30th, you very well may see the death of Y&R.
I, for one, have been a fan since the show’s inception. I have dedicated 3/4 of my life to this show. This isn’t a joke to the fans. We want answers and we’re not going to back down until we get those answers or results one. Some of us idolize the actors/characters. And with so many of them coming out with their ugly tweets and comments, it is changing how we feel about the entire show. It would be best if the cast members remained impartial, at least publicly. Attacking fans who have idolized them is not going to help them keep their job! If I were an actor on that show, I’d start looking for another job for I truly feel its days are numbered.
It was not an easy decision for me to decide to cease from watching Y&R after Jan. 30th. It started with the firing of MM a week before Christmas and now with the way the scandal has been mishandled, the rumors, the cast coming out and scolding fans and back-biting other cast members…..well I cannot watch this show anymore knowing how ugly that actors have been to the fans when we’re the reason they even has a job! You want to talk about egos, the cast members who are speaking out taunting disgusted, grieving fans who have professed to stop watching, well we’ll see how much of an ego these cocky cast members have when the ratings plummet and they’re facing unemployment. So I guess we’ll have to hide, watch and see how this scandal plays out and how it affects the existence of Y&R!
“…the cast coming out and scolding fans and back-biting other cast members…..well I cannot watch this show anymore knowing how ugly that actors have been to the fans when we’re the reason they even has a job!”
Cheers!
this really irks me… and nonpluses
the cast can press release… how #1 they are
the cast can … press their “nu” team player stance.. all they want
the cast can fight JFP battles
you bet… i’m divided.. and I NO LONGER HAVE the heart… to keep up with Y&R
it’s unwatchable…. YEAR 2013… will go down .. for US FANS.. as THEE YEAR… when Y&R DIED
too much has happened… loyalty, be damned… call me fanatical… FANS … know whats being televised
no matter how much fans, balk… are disregarded…. not given credence
the loyal fan base… was for: Ashley, Nina, Delia, Chance IV, Traci, Phyllis, Billy, and YES… Mr. Michael Muhney
and… notwithstanding… the cherished… Jeanne Cooper
The fans… in your face… JFP… has gone with her
There is an original rumor monger. She/he posted the same comment word for word on several soap boards. Michael Fairman, maybe you can get someone to track down the identity of the person who started this whole groping rumor slander.
Jill Phelps is doing irreparable damage to Y&R and Sony or Cbs better step in real quick…
I am putting this to bed. What happened is unfortunate for everyone. If the allegations are true against MM, then I believe the actor should be viewed differently from the character. We can love a character on a series and believe the actor is the same off the set. I am sure that is not always the case. Blind devotion is dangerous and before we cast down another without the actual facts, we are doing a great injustice to the possible injured party. I pray for healing for all those involved.
This entire situation is a PR nightmare! The network, Sony, or someone needs to release a revised statement. Where are the PR pros? We learned of the cancellation of online AMC not from Prospect Park, but from stars Debbi Morgan & Cady McClain. Now, we have all these Y&R cast members and personnel — both past AND present — weighing in on this situation. Jill Farren Phelps, in addition to being inept, is now a coward for letting this whole thing twist in the wind. At the very least, the services of a PR crisis agency should have been retained.
Jerry Douglas’ piling on against Michael Muhney screams “Look over here, I’m still around!” He added nothing to the story. Why must these actors act like children.
Alfred Hitchcock had it right: “I never said all actors are cattle; what I said was all actors should be treated like cattle.”
Wait! So your trashing Muhney in this interview and then yesterday you’re taking to twitter asking for fans to tweet Jill Farren Phelps to plead your case to keep your character on Y&R?? Because apparently, the writers don’t want to use you and your character anymore?
Whoa…not on your life John! Karma’s a great thing huh?! You trash talk your fellow actors in an interview – don’t expect fans to back you now in your dilemma! You owe MM an apology. He’s never stabbed you in the back in an interview. It’s called mutual respect! Respect is a 2 way street! Was MM perfect? Absolutely not! But neither are any of the remaining actors left on Y&R. So MM fans won’t be begging JFP for you…sorry 🙁
While I respect the opinion of a veteran actor like Mr. Douglas, Mr. Muhney did bring a certain spark to Y&R.
I can stop watching for 10 yrs and pick right back up due to familiar characters like Eric Braedon.
I wish everyone all the best on the show and look forward to watching Michael Muhney play other characters in future projects.
Why is it that dead people get to talk?
Seems a shame MM got off the show for allegedly giving a grop to summer. Not accredit proof that he did anything to summer. What a Jeanne cooper she was a well know grouper of men’s junk…was she ever called in or suspended…hell no she continue her little game with whatever young buck shre choose
Joshua morrow was a victim many times…the real story belongs to the rift with Eric B. Just wanted him gone anyway they could stage it…Michael Muhley was losing his job but Jill phelps wanted to be happy. One a page brought a package to Eric b. Dressing area and he open the door totally nude with his juke all hanging out…this is no a good character reference for bradean. What a pervert and slob! Hopefully if there is a replacement for Adam please make it Michael muhley he is the greatest Adam we have or will see on t,his program three cheers for Michael mulhaney
