OLTL Alum Renée Elise Goldsberry Lands Lead Role in Tina Fey’s New Comedy for Peacock

Photo: IMDB

We all remember her fondly when she rocked the role of Evangeline Williamson on One Life to Live, and now years later this Tony and Grammy Award-winning star has been cast in the lead role in a Tina Fey comedy series!  We are speaking of the one and only, Renée Elise Goldsberry.

The Hamilton alum will star opposite Sara Bareilles in Girls5eva, about a 1990s girl group that gets another shot at stardom.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Goldsberry will play Wickie, the glamorous, big-voiced star of the group back in the day. Her solo career has hit a ditch, but she’s determined to use a new opportunity to retake her rightful place as pop royalty.”

In a statement, Goldsberry expressed:”This wickedly talented team is creating something brave and new  I’m grateful I get to be in the room with them. I honestly can’t think of a better way to transition out of this year and into the new one than laughing with strong and beautiful women.”

In the log lines for the series: Girls5eva centers on the members of a one-hit wonder group from the 1990s. When a young rapper samples their hit, they reunite to give their pop star dreams one more shot. They may be grown women balancing spouses, kids, jobs, debt, aging parents, and shoulder pain, but can‘t they also be Girls5eva?

The show from Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Meredith Scardino will bow on NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock.  No date yet has been given for when production will begin or when it might premiere but we will keep you updated.

So, what do you think of the news of Renée landing yet another feather in her talented cap on a comedy series that sounds right up her alley? Comment below.

ABC Fall Line-Up to Debut ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Spinoff Featuring Seniors Looking For Love

After discussions that started three years ago, and delayed from the pandemic, ABC has revealed they have greenlit the ‘Bachelor: Senior’, shall we say, where a man and a group of women, 61-years-old and up, are looking for another shot at finding love.

The new offering for the fall season, officially titled, The Golden Bachelor, will debut on Monday nights following Dancing with the Stars which is returning to the network after one season away exclusively on Disney+.

While a casting call went out earlier this year, the show’s description teases: “After more than 20 years of fostering young love on The Bachelor, he Bachelorette and Bachelor in ParadiseThe Golden Bachelor showcases a whole new kind of love story — one for the golden years. On this all-new unscripted series, one hopeless romantic is given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life. The women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities. In the end, will our Golden man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”

No other details have been revealed as to who the first senior ‘Bachelor’ will be, but ABC is adding shows for a strike-proof schedule in case the WGA strike continues for several months where scripted dramas or comedies come to a stand-still.

So, what do you think about The Golden Bachelor’? What do you think of the series name? Would you be interested to see this spinoff version of The Bachelor? Comment below.

Y&R’s Lauralee Bell Posts Special ‘Crimson Lights’ Behind the Scenes Video Featuring Castmates

To the tune of the rock classic, “Crimson and Clover”, The Young and the Restless; Lauralee Bell (Christine) shared another video package produced, direct and edited by herself.

Currently, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the top-rated daytime drama, Y&R’s Bell is posting a series of videos. Lauralee’s parents, Bill and Lee Phillip Bell were the creators of the iconic show.

Now, carrying on the Bell tradition, Lauralee is using her creative side to spotlight the cast inside the famous Genoa City coffee shop, Crimson Lights.

On her Instagram Lauralee expressed and shared: “Another video showing us #behindthescenes as we continue to thank the fans while we celebrate #YR50 Seemed very fitting to play #crimsonandclover in #crimsonlights ☕️ We love you guys!! Thank you for watching @youngandrestlesscbs Couple things about the video- I could only use 50 cuts so a little EXTRA behind the scenes will be on my story. We had access to the set for a few quick days between scenes sometimes without lights. So if you don’t see some cast members it’s just because people weren’t in on those days but we’ll try to do these videos whenever we can to remind you how much you’re appreciated!!!!  Also there was someone in a booth that I had to edit out so it didn’t give away a story coming up. I’ll put that picture out when the person airs in a few weeks. 😎”

Check out Y&R stars: Melody Thomas Scott, Eric Braeden, Jason Thompson, Amelia Heinle, Joshua Morrow, Sharon Case, Michelle Stafford, Michael Mealor, Peter Bergman, Susan Walters, Alison Lanier and more inside and around Crimson Lights.
