OLTL Icon Robin Strasser Joins DAYS
Things in Salem are going to be even more entertaining with the news that Daytime Emmy-winner Robin Strasser has joined the cast of Days of our Lives.
Soap Opera Digest broke the news with Strasser being on the cover of their latest issue on newsstands now. ‘Digest’ reports that Strasser, who played Dorian Cramer Lord on One Life to Live on and off-again from 1979-2013, will first air this summer on the NBC daytime drama series.
As to the role she will be playing? Mum’s the word right now, but Digest reveals, “Look for her arrival to shake up the canvas in a surprising way.”
This move reunites DAYS head writer, Ron Carlivati with Strasser, whom he wrote for as head scribe at One Life to Live. Strasser also has another former colleague and dear friend in the DAYS cast, Kassie DePaiva, who played Dorian’s niece, Blair , and who is currently Eve Donovan in Salem.
Strasser confirmed her casting on Twitter expressing : “November 12, 2017, nixed rumor I’d be joining DAYS. Cut to Feb. 2019, they called, I jumped! You can’t say #supportthe4 and not let them in when they knock on your door. #DOOL, yes!”
So excited to see Robin mix it up with the characters of Salem? Share your thoughts on her upcoming arrival this summer via the comment section below.
I can’t wait to see Robin on the screen again!!!
Oh, I am so happy to hear this and I am happy for her. She seems like the nicest person and I just loved her portrayal of Dorian. She is a fantastic addition and she will do a wonderful job.
Fantastic news! Days is great at reeling in the daytime divas! I can’t wait til she wrecks havoc on Days and it’s citizens. I hope she and Kassie (Eve) share a lot of scenes while she is on the show. I read that Kassie is off Days again, I hope she can return to be with Robin Strasser again.
Can Days lure Marj Dusay if she’s willing to?
don’t scare me @Blake: “…I read that Kassie is off Days again” I’m just so glad “Guest” Arcs are the newest trend… the let’s hope live again
Kassie DePaiva : you come back, home and encompass it all
I’ve pre-faced.. never watched OLTL… aside from “Newbies” AND crossover appeal… comes Kassie’ Eve Star
gotcha she rings it up.. I fell so far in love with her.. so far
Robin Strasser : of course I understand when grand dames move for you
so I only recognized “her” from Passions.. which I caught on to the quirk She slid slammed and swam Hecuba near
Now i’m truly bringing UP : Louise Sorel Judith Chapman WITH ANOTHER NET of – catch this
remember, my last request, danced : Roman, Anna, Carrie TO STAY
so it’s with sharing the screen WITH – good writing – . hour of silence On entreaty of canvas
BAM
I am floored ??? !!!! I don’t know now ? “She was Rachel” ???? as love slips to the floor and laps it up
she was Rachel from Another World
WHO – when I turned this show on.. she kept it epi-center epi
the only Rachel I know ? “GOD” Victoria Wyndham
RICH character not in money “all” of it
so to know now… Robin Strasser started a big character AND it “built” to Victoria HUGE
so thank you , Robin
SHOCKED
welcome to Days
Victoria Wyndham : “Another World” turns Rachel
“You can make me cry”
I didn’t read anything about Kassie being off again! Where did you read that? She just came back recently!
I didn’t hear that either, Phil. I pray to God she did not take ill again….Poor woman has been through so much already.
Wish her good health!!
I agree with everything you said, Blake……hoping Kassie is healthy; and simply taking a short leave…
I would love to see “Claire” take a hike instead. I think it will happen sooner or later, after her fire-starting crime is exposed.
I truly like Haley……clean, fresh, and naive, who’s been caught in a maelstrom of incidents which are not her fault. She was a child…..unwittingly “committing” a crime.
Evil Claire will turn her in. It seems that any female, who comes within an inch of Tripp, is a threat to her.
There is one solution: JJ should marry Haley.❤️
Fantastic news!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely adore the incomparable Robin Strasser. I cannot wait to marvel at her superb work again. It would be great to see Robin and Kassie DePaiva together again. Thank you to TPTB for bringing her on board.
Not happy. They need to focus on the characters they already have and bring Chloe back. I think of tons of characters i would rather see back than yet another actor from another soap.
I’m also upset about Chloe being let go. What a stupid move. Really sucks that she and Tyler will both be off of the show soon when we finally see what amazing chemistry they have.
Blake,
Agree with you. Ever since she “died”, I’ve heard that Vivian would be back. Maybe Louise Sorrel, can’t return, and Robin will take up the part. At least we are getting rid of Claire, after all she’s done, its about time.
For the life of me, I can not understand firing Chloe , when the chemestry between her and Stefan is so obvious. It will be so hard watching Gabi/Godzilla being his bride, especially when Tyler Christopher is still playing the part.
Firing Chloe all comes down to money. The budget Days gets from NBC only allows for so much. Look at the filming schedule. And look at the decrease in the clothing budget.
Mary
Thanks for your input. I don’t really keep track of these things, let alone what they have to spend on wardrobe. Funny, how some women, like Gabi and Diana are always wearing the fancy clothes and others like Marlena, who could use an all round make-over, looks like how some old college professors dressed years ago. Also Hope deserves better, I think she trades jackets with Marlena. These women are beautiful, and while being professional, they can still be attractive. If their budget is so low, maybe we should take up a collection, ha, ha.
Hi, Violet,
Great point you make……could Diana’s and Gabi’s wardrobe be purposely coming off as “showy” to reflect their vacuous, superficial and self-centered personalities? I don’t know—-just a thought….
Hope and Marlena would represent the opposite?
I have a question for you…….if John finds out Leo killed his “father”; and, if he also finds out that he, himself, is Leo’s bio dad….. Will John have Leo arrested? A quandary, Miss Violet!! ❤️
Please let her be BAD!! Ms. Strasser does bad so well!! Bring it
Robin is a great actress, I am sure she will liven things up on Days of Our Lives – but secretly I am also hoping that both All My Children and One life to Live will see a reboot soon – there are many rumors that ABC wants to revamp the shows, and where’s there’s smoke there’s usually fire ~
How I would love to see revivals of All My Children and One Life to Live. Let us pray the rumors are true. But, the alphabet network needs to be committed to the same high quality productions they had before.
In my opinion, no All My Children without Erica (Susan Lucci)
Yes Frank, the rumors might be true. ABC is in talks to bring back OLTL and AMC I read it on Soap Central let’s hope this news is true.
AMC and OLTL should never have been cancelled in the first place.
Really, Claudio??….that would be soooo-out-of-this-world fantastic!!
Yes Celia, I pray OLTL and AMC come back, I hope the rumors are true. Would love to see Viki Buchanan and Diva Erica Kane back on tv. Amen I love Robin Strasser but the rumor mill is she will be playing Vivian Alamain recast, this better be not true. I will not accept this garbage. Lol. Louise Sorel is my madam, not Robin Strasser.
I hear you, Claudio…..I said to Jimh, no one can take Louise Sorel’s place as Vivian….
Susan Lucci has had a bout with an almost heart attack….artery blockage….I hope she is well enough to be the forever Diva, Erica Kane.
She’s a Long Islander—-my brother lives around the corner from her—-my sister-in-law is regaled with a glimpse of her, here and there–
She tells me Susan looks healthy and as besutiful as ever.
I would love to see shows like Guiding Light, One Life To Live and All My Children return. OLTL and AMC could at least be half hour shows back to back.
Yes they could do back-to-back shows, just a Half hour, no soap needs to be an hour – or they could do a combination show of the characters from each and call it PINE VALLEY (or call it Landview)~ I guess maybe ABC is finally seeing that their current daytime line-up is for the birds, unless they plan to do their own On line presentation of the shows as occurred a few years ago ~
If ReRon follows his usual patterns, she will be a recast of a character that hasn’t been seen in over 25 years, and entirely wrong for the part. (as in the so-called “Eve” and “Diana”, neither of whom bear any resemblance to the historical versions of those characters)
Just pulling a random name of out of ancient days history, maybe they’ll call her Renee DiMera? or maybe some nonsense about Brady’s mom Isabella who was dug up and sent to Rolfie’s clinic, despite being a rotting corpse since the early 1990s
Its rumoured she is the new Vivian but i hope it would been Lee who also had ties to the Dimeras’ was hoping lee would return with a Dimera daughter and seen in scenes with enemy Julie but its most likely she is Vivian since Louise S. says she wont return to the show..
Powerhouse diva, let Ms. Robin stir it up in Salem as a precursor to the hopeful reboot of One Life. On an unrelated note, yet speaking of delightful divas, why-oh-why hasn’t Days brought Marilyn McCoo back as Lani’s mom?…there seemed to be buzz about this months ago…
There are so many opportunities for Robin on “DOOL.” I am hoping she is not a recast of Anjelica. The “back-from-the-dead” scenario has been played too many times. I would love to see her play someone connected to Kate. Judith Chapman is the hiring decision of the year. I love her character and hope she sticks around. I would love to see Claire recast with Kristen Alderson.
Ray
Please, one Claire was enough. I’d only be interested if they changed her character too
I’ll be glad to be rid of her.
Kristen is a sweetheart, Ray……I would not like to see her play a rotten apple as Claire….but, anything is possible.
Too many meanies on Dool…..
Speak of the devil….I am actually watching an episode of MURDER SHE WROTE with Judith ( Diane). Soooo young!!
Funny how she always had that look of disdain and superiority!! She certainly brings it!! I hope she stays, as well.
Claire will probably not be replaced, Ray……she’ll be carted off to prison. She’s a pyromaniac and would-be murderess.
Y E S!!!!! A million times, Y E S!!!!
How about Tuc Watkins?? Please?!?!?!
As Leo’s thought dead and murdered papa????
Yes, Jimmy….I like that! Keep it All in the Family”–OLTL family, that is….
I’m intrigued already…
Can’t wait to see her. Who will she play????!!!! Someone new or a recast?
Some say its Vivian..
That’s who I was thinking!
I like that, too, Jimmy—but, no one can compare to Louise Sorel….
I’m 99.9% sure she’s playing Vivian, Momo.
Please let it be Vivian. And could she also bring her side kick back to Salem.
So glad to hear the news. I know she’s been vocal about wishing to work. A travesty that One Life to Live was cancelled. I’m wondering about her other actors on OLTL. What area they doing? Yes, I know Cassie DePaiva is also on Days but the others need/wish to work also.
I am so happy to hear this always loved Robin.Cannot wait to see what she brings to the show.
This makes me wonder if the casting folks over at Days of Our Lives know or suspect something that we don’t know – they seem to be snapping up actors from One Life to Live / All My children from their rival network – if ABC really does reboot (or combine) the two shows not all the actors will be available immediately but then again recasting is a major part of the Soap world ~
Gabrielle Pascal? Is she dead? Perhap, our beautiful Ms Strasser will reprise the role?
Aside–I wish Claire would leave–her crazy eyes are beginning to give nightmares. She is evil!! I’ve said it from the onset—she will be the one to turn Haley in.
Gabrielle would fit ReRon’s recasting pattern – a character nobody has thought about in years and somebody in the role who doesn’t remotely resemble the original.
Now all they need to do is hire George Takei as a Shane Donovan recast and they could have a whole family of people who bear no resemblance to the originals. (yeah, that’s a little sarcastic Devil humor, admittedly. Besides, I love Mr. Sulu and I wouldn’t want to subject him to working with a bunch of OLTL refugees. Oh my….. )
Celia, Good one about Claire’s crazy eyes! Her dirty scheming reminds me of Sami’s shenanigans, back in the day!
Hi, Lew,
I thought I was the only one who didn’t like the character and the actress…..But, I see I am not alone.
There are some baddies, such as Diane, or Leo, who have flair and charisma…..Those traits make it easy to like a villainous character.
But, Olivia Rose Keegan is not very simpatica, in my opinion.❤️
Good very good! Now bring back Vivian, Anna and Tony/Andre.
LOL. All the pearl clutching because an actress from another show has been cast. Ridiculous. Every single actor on DAYS was a newbie at one time and a lot of them came from other shows. I love Robin from years of watching her on OLTL and can’t wait to see her on DAYS, whichever character she plays.
YES!!!
This actress who portrays Vivian sucks. Bring Louise Sorel back. Only she can portray the role.
This new Vivian looks and acts like she belong in the circus!
