I really love RC but I think he got lazy with this one. While it is obvious that the actors have chemistry, there was nothing in the story that would make me believe that Carly would sleep with AJ! She never enjoyed it even when she was married to him and did what she could to avoid it. They hate each other and have for years. Now with AJ, he was hurt, angry and in self destruct mode, but Carly had no excuse. At the very least Carly should have been shown to be all upset about something? She was in her right mind (well as right as Carly gets). Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy writing.

yeah, it seems haphazard….. OK… Carly’s being Carly.

she’s mia in story line….. what with no Johnny and no Todd.

this may be better than listening to her shriek about her coming of age… Michael…. geez! so he’s in pain?.. over the lie Brenda told Mamma….

this didn’t go any where either… listening to her go on and on about Michael and Brenda.

I knew she was going to tell Sonny…. he ignored Carly…. LOL… AJ was all excited.

I believe all the writing is sloppy…The new LuLu …She’s a great actress, but not LuLu,What happened? It came on fire then dies,no plots…
Just a bunch of mumble jumble…Since when would Carly sleep with Aj? What happened with Robin,Fason,That whole story?
General Hospital was never a draggy soap,
There are no story lines…Thats how the same writer lost his other show 🙁

I have always maintain that no soap could keep up that pace of story telling GH had going leading up to their 50th Anniversary. If it seems to be dragging now, it only because they were plowing through stories so quickly that now they are doing what other soaps are doing- it seems slows. I think you guys give the writer a break– not every writer is going to hit out of the park every time. Right now most soaps have filler- or building up for sweeps week and then all soaps will be rev up.

Ron C. was not fired from OLTL. It was cancelled. And when it was cancelled the estimated were very good. In fact higher than GH at the time. Since he and Frank V. came to GH the ratings are really good. He is definitely better than the last writer!!!!

I really enjoyed it! Very unexpected, which I appreciate in storytelling however I think it was true to the characters and the evolution of their complicated relationship and history. they made a child together you know that left some sexual tension between them. Just the fact that they have reproduced together would naturally leave a sexual interest in the back of their minds. Plus I think when A.J. Took care of Carly a few months ago when she had her drunken breakdown that it was a turning point for them and it built a trust and forged a level of mutual reflect. I thought it made complete sense plus I laughed my ass off. Don’t be so critical and enjoy the ride people. Good job RC!

Nice reply Mathew…i agree! Its the best soap now period!

I have to agree with you…for the most part. It was certainly unexpected and I really like the chemistry between Laura Wright and Sean Kanan. I thought it was a little sudden and out of the blue but I didn’t hate it. You are so right that the night that AJ helped Carly with her drunken mess and hair cutting was a turning point for their relationship and it continued with Carly’s obvious concern for AJ this week during his panic attack. The only thing that I am not sure about with this story is the effect it is going to have on AJ and Elizabeth, who I am absolutely loving. I think the two of them could be amazing together and would hate to see AJ’s stupid choice with Carly screw that up. It definitely has me hooked!

I agree that there is no reason why Carly would have sex with AJ! I couldn’t believe she was doing it without be drunk or drugged or held at gunpoint. Initially I thought it was a fantasy…

I was disgusted by them to be honest. It didn’t make any sense for them to sleep together. The setup seemed contrived. The whole AJ/Liz/Nik/Carly storyline is a mess. I am sick of the triangles and quads on GH. It’s really starting to get ridiculous.

Ha! I loved it. These two are amusing together and Sean Kanan & Laura Wright have awesome chemistry… but I still want Roger Howarth back!

I agree.. but want Roger back as Todd.. not too excited about them coming back as new characters…

I agree with that. I wish Roger was Todd too! Not sure what is going to happen there…

I agree!! I loved it…. I cracked up when they were arguing, I like when they argue I can’t stop laughing and they stuff they say to each other, and I think it’s funny that they slept together, they say there is a fine line between love and hate, lol so I think they were caught up in the heat of the moment…. but I do not want them as a couple…. can’t wait for Roger to come back I like her with him, whoever he will play!

They are pretty damn funny together, but you’re right, I don’t necessarily want them as a couple. I swear Laura Wright has chemistry with everyone; she is so versatile as an actress!! AJ brings out her worst and it’s fun to watch though but I want Roger back… he’s been missed so much. Is it me or has the show been a bit slowwwer without Roger on the canvas. Can’t wait for his return!

Ces, i agree plus i liked how Monica was caught in the middle of it all!

yeah, when Elizabeth knocked on the door, the look on Monica’s face
was priceless. haha

that was great Monica going on and on!!! I swear I laughed through that whole thing…… you are right about Laura, I do just love her with everyone!! I read online then we should see Roger some where around the week of May 20th…. I hope so…. can’t wait to see him!

it was bound to happen –

that being said…. Carly really hasn’t had a story… not since Johnny… and MIA Todd.

so… this does add melodrama….

I’d prefer the triangle of AJ/Nicholas/Elizabeth.

I hope Carly gets pregnant … She needs another baby.. she’s a good mama!.

me that

I don’t really see Carly becoming a part of the triangle/quad. I think she could serve as a spoiler for the AJ/Elizabeth romance by Elizabeth being hurt over AJ sleeping with Carly. Who know how long Nikolas is going to stick around. Maybe I am just hoping AJ and Elizabeth will end up together because I love them together.

I liked it.. I do like them together …

sheeekkk !1
the kissing was smacky loud, yuk..
SMACK SMACK slobber..

As irritating as when your glass is empty and ya keep sucking on the straw..

lol…

Reall passion… lots of noise

It got me feelin nasty and I’m not complaining.

I like these two together, they have chemistry and do great bickering and humor. But the scene felt off to me. Something was missing…

perhaps chemistry? lol.

My reaction to Carly and A.J. having sex….
BARF !!! PUKE !!!! UGHH ..

I hope I never have to see that again, never ..

FF at the ready!

I agree. Surely Carly would have grown from the last time she had sex with AJ. This was a real setback for the character. Poor writing. They may have chemistry, but I would hope Carly would have some self control. And in his mother’s house??? come on!

Not sure why the writers chose to go there after carefully rebuilding AJ, it was a giant step back to the previous regime’s character assassination. Thanks to Sean Kanan, I’ll buy that AJ was hurt and self-destructive, but it still stretches credibility. And what was Carly’s reason? The whole thing looked thrown together without any real motivation for either of them, obviously a plot point to provide contrived angst for the AJ/Elizabeth story that had been developing so beautifully and naturally. Of course, Carly will wind up pregnant, another plot point so obviously set up in the hospital scene when Carly threatened AJ with the scissors. Sloppy writing.

I agree 100% . Well said.

Lori, a beautiful love story? Really???? When A.J. set up Sonny and Michael at the boxing ring, sent Duke to steal Tracys jar of relish, this is the man in ur beautiful love story? Do you hate Elizabeth that much? That you would pair her with this sleavy, lying, man? Really????

I thought it was way hotter than the fantasy scene between Nicholas and Elizabeth.. i would never want AJ and Carly to actually become a couple. It’s their hate/hate relationship that keeps them interesting together.

that wasn’t a fantasy scene between liz and nicholas, he was remembering when they actually hooked up. and had their brief affair.

Keep in mind that Sonny and Carly started as hate sex. That said, Carly and AJ were actually friends at first before she decided she wanted to get back with Tony, when that did not work she turned to Jason, and then Sonny. Carly finally seemed to have a somewhat stable relationship with Jax. I used to like AJ and Carly before it got really hateful. I liked AJ and Hannah. They were good, but that story fell flat too. Hey, I hope if AJ and Carly decided their rumps are fun, power to them, and might just be fun to watch too? Time shall tell.

i love it and hate it at the same time, i hate that a j cheated on liz, but i love this group of actors in same storyline, i just hope that liz isn’t made to look like an idiot and when she does finds out, really gives carly the bitch slap she deserves.

That was an interesting twist. Carly will probably end up pregnant now. lol

I really hope that doesn’t happen.

While I was really looking forward to an AJ/LIz pairing…I LOVE the chemistry between Laura Wright and Sean Kanan. They are hilarious together…and I think they’re in a love/hate thing…though not to that extreme. I don’t think there’s any love…not at this point…but they’ve been thrown together since his return. He pretended to be her lover when she wanted to make Todd jealous…she helped him out when he had his panic attack…they’ve somehow managed to confide and co-exist thru their disdain. Interesting to see where this will go…and where Liz and Nick fit in to the picture. We have no idea how long Tyler Christopher is staying this time so once again…where would that leave LIz…interesting/fun storyline!

Post Nurses Ball the new plot lines have some poor writing. I guess an AJ /Carly pairing is mean tto be comic relief. ??? But it appeared to be unprotected sex and give me a break- can’t the women of this show ever learn about birth control and protection-.
And i have to say, though it’s not on topic, the new Lulu is not a good actress, and is not at all cute.

A.J. and sex in the same sentence is enough to make me gag! He is such a liar, bkackmailing, thief. Why would anyone want him with Elizabeth? Doesnt she deserve better? He will never change, why do fans think he will?

It totally grossed me out to be honest although the scenes afterwards were funny. Carly & AJ just have a sleazy vibe to me not a forbidden hot one also, I really liked Liz & AJ and this pretty much put an end to that for me but I also love Liz & Nik so if it ends up giving me Nik & Liz together, it will be worth it! I did think it was poorly set up though especially Carly’s motivation since she didn’t seem to have any.

While I have to reluctantly admit that Laura and Sean have made Carly and AJ have crazy chemistry and lots of it… that is just good acting. I did not like seeing Carly and AJ together without there having been something like being drunk to explain it. Yes… I know it was anger and some past history but… She never should have let it get beyond the initial clutch and kiss! I hope we all can forget it ever happened… but we know that will not happen. I thought the evolved Carly would never do that without being drunk or drugged or held at gunpoint. Can’t wait for RH to get back into Carly’s orbit! That’s only because we can’t seem to have Jax in her orbit.

Being new to the show I don’t have the problem as other posters with this turned of events. I do know there is a fine line between anger and passion, so I can see how two people who hate each other can end up having sex– and that is all it was sex– not love. I don’t see them being a couple–

And this is a storyline? Y&R has been doing the same thing meaningless sex if this continues on all remaining 4 soaps you will be on the chopping block.

I personally loved the scenes between Carly and AJ. As one poster mentioned, at one point Carly and AJ were friends before she got pregnant with Michael and tried to hide the fact that he was the father by drugging him and making him think he’d had a relapse. Yes, AJ has done some horrible things but so has Sonny. For some reason, people don’t seem to have a problem with Sonny’s misogyny, but AJ gets dumped on repeatedly not just by the characters on the show but by fans. When AJ kidnapped Michael, Morgan and Kristina, he was desperate. After years of being treated like dirty by his own family, Sonny, Jason, Carly, he finally snapped and wanted revenge. Rick locked Carly in the panic room, gave Elizabeth birth control pills behind her back, and tried to steal Carly’s baby, yet he went on to marry Elizabeth yet again, and Alexis. There seems to be a double standard at the way people judge the male character’s behavior on this show.

I enjoyed it. It was funny, amusing and so unexpected. Isn’t that what soaps are about? Anything unimaginable and unexplainable can happen. It’s an escape from every day. I’ve been really loving GH lately. Glad to see them bring back all the old characters especially Lucy. Hope she stays on. I forgotten how utterly delightful and zany her character can be. Good for Carly– she got hers.

I really wanted to vomit. I can not stand AJ. I sort of felt sorry for him when he first came back. But his reation to Michael faux sleeping with Brenda. That totally screamed sleaze! It was a stupid plot twist. Compiled with AJ/Carly sex. It seems like the writers are just throwing shit out to see what gives a reaction. Sloppy sloppy sloppy. I’ve been watching this show for over 30yrs! I remember history well. SO the whole thing was just Stoopid! I can really see Liz and Nic hooking up. But after Liz walked away from Nic to chase after AJ then that makes them perfect for each other. If she chooses to stay then she deseves it! Idiot writers should know its not a move Carly would make, she has done some pretty wild things in the past. But this is not one of them!

I was surprised by this! But pleasantly. I think the fallout is funny and I will enjoy watching them both squirm.

LOVE it!!!! The thin line between love and hate is present. I like the humor it brings to the show too. Now out of nowhere I’m hoping it continues and we see a relationship with Carly and AJ. Thanks writers!

Hilarious stuff with Monica Quartermaine. Wish she was on the show full-time.

Those two, very funny, as was the fire control scramble.

Love it love both AJ and Carly .I like AJ with Liz but this was a hoot.Next Carly will wind up pregnant again lol

not surprised… but… yuck!

I love the chemistry between them !!
They are way better than her and Todd
That just gross !! but he is rocking OLTL
And needs to stay with Blair !! Period
Glad to have gotten a break from OLTL
For a while !!! Go Carly & AJ !!
Liz is to boring for him lol

The scene was oh so predictable. Also sends absolutely the wrong message. Maybe the writers/TPTB think this is what fans want–that it is “soapy” and entertaining. I have been a fan of GH since its inception, and I am not amused. Today, unfortunately, GH characters have SEX, but where is the romance, the LOVE? This state of affairs is not unique to daytime drama; it happens in the movies, etc., also. Too bad–and really sad. And the nadir was the next day when Carly was rubbing the sanitizer on herself. Distasteful and playing to the lowest instincts. Like those “frat” movies. Women deserve better.

AJ and Carly had sex and slept together and they both belong together AJ still love Carly they both had long cmestry together and they both have son Michael need to be there for him.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

By

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
