Payback's a Bitch! "The Revolution" sinks even further in the ratings!

One Life to Live fans who have been desperately clamoring to get the show’s replacement, The Revolution kicked to the curb could get their wish if the horrific ratings for the new lifestyle/makeover show continue in this downward spiral out of the gate.

According to TV Media Insights, the second week of The Revolution was pretty dreadful and is down 28% of its lead-in The Chew and even more importantly down 43% down from its time period a year ago, “Hello One Life to Live, people”

Here is what TV Media Insights had to say with its complete analysis of the situation! “The next set of Live Plus Same Day data from Nielsen (which includes total viewers) will not be available until Thursday.  But based on the metered markets to-date in week two (through Tuesday, Jan. 31), critically panned new ABC daytime talker The Revolution has sunk further.  Using the weighted household averages, the Monday and Tuesday telecasts of The Revolution this week is averaging a mere 1.3 rating/4 share in the 56-metered markets.  Compared to the week one average (1.5/ 5, Jan. 23-27), this is a loss of 13 percent.  Keep in mind that the week one total viewer average for The Revolution was already a subpar 1.68 million viewers (which was off by 37 percent from One Life to Live one year earlier).  So, unless there is an uptick, week two will be lower.

This week to-date, The Revolution is down by 28 percent from the lead-in average (1.8/ 6), and 43 percent from the time period average in January 2011 (2.3/ 6).  Next up at TVMI: the week two total viewer results for The Revolution.

So what would ABC next plan be if this show tanks?  Keep General Hospital from cancellation?  Bring back One Life to Live?  Or, fill the time slot with another show with a bunch of hosts that no one cares about?  Let us know your thoughts?  We know you have something to say about this one!

Abc made a boo-boo replacing our soaps with reality tv. Hopefully The Revolution and Chew will be taken off the air and GH will be moved up to the 2pm hr.

Bring back One Life To Live I think would be the right thing to do. The Revolution is the worst show I have ever seen, They really made a big mistake. The ceo of abc WHAT WAS HE THINKING!!!!

Maybe ABC can turn one of thier nighttime pilots(Nashville & Americana)into a daytime soap instead.

No. Bringing back OLTL is more economical and makes more sense. Primetime soaps were never designed for five days a week.

soap fans will not give in!!! we want One Life To Live back!!!

bring back our soaps OLTL and AMC!!!

Yes, makes a lot of sense to bring back our beloved soap ‘ ONE LIFE TO LIVE!” I miss it soooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

any shows in the amc & oltl time slot will be boycotted by us soap fans, we will either boycott abc till we get our soaps back, or only watch gh on abc and nothing else, and laugh when we see the ratings fall for non-soap shows on abc.

We will continue to reject anything less than an acknowledgement of ABC/Disney’s mistake and putting One Life to Live back where it belongs, are they getting it yet???

Let’s rally and keep writing ABC programming to bring our soaps back. Please go to this link and write a note. There is power in numbers, let’s stay united and make this happen! Thank you. Please pass the link on to others.

Don’t agree at all with Rich’s comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK,let’s hear how you all would bring back AMC/OLTL since ABC SOLD the rights to Prospect Park. I don’t see ABC getting those rights back anytime soon. Nor would PP be willing to sell them to Agnes Nixon.
Then there’s the cast. Most of whom have relocated to LA(Kirsten Alderson, for example, will be playing Starr on GH for the next three years. Unless,of course,ABC pulls GH in favor of Katie Couric.)or have become involved in other projects. So,again…just HOW do we get our shows back?

There is no harm in hoping OLTL comes back.. It should be put on another cable channel..This what I have been saying all along!!!!!!!!!!!!! They gave up so easily on putting OLTL either on line or back on thr T. V….. They didn’t try hard enough!!!!!!!!!!! Gave up on the first try..As the saying goes if you don’t suceed at first, try, try, AGAIN!!!!!!!! They didn’t fight hard enough for OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!! I really mean all of this!!!!!!!!!! It really upsets me a lot!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no favorite daytime program to watch anymore.. I fell very passionate about all this!!!!!!!!!! I really love watching OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s All !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rich, where have you had your head stuck lately?? ABC/Disney and PP are all owned by the same people. They have not released or sold the rights to anyone that is not within their domain. If they had we would have our shows back on another network channel. The cast would gladly go back if OLTL and AMC was picked up by another network. They have to make a living too and they are just taking what they can get until the show makes its comeback. I as Susan M and millions of others have all joined in this fight for our soaps and we have been heard loud and clear, they no longer believe that we will eventually get over this. NOT!!!! What are you doing besides gripping?? If you can’t be loyal to the cause then we don’t need people like you spouting negativity. You need to join in the fight or just keep your negative comments to yourself. You must not be a very loyal fan if you think prime-time can take the place of our daytime. Never in a millions years! It would fall like the Revolting is now. We need to work on bringing down the Chew also. I am with you Susan. We all are except Rich!!!!

What rich commented about putting Nashville & Americana … Possibly putting one these on daytime instead of primetime…..This what I disagree with………Are you crazy??????????? Daytime programming BELONGS TO OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!! Not primetime soaps…….. Which I will never watch!!!!!!!!!! I totally disagree with Rich on this one… OLTL FAN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Daytime is reserved for OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get It (Rich)!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! OK,i’ll ask again. Since ABC shows no apparent interest in bringing back a show they longer own because Prospect Park can’t get thier as together and is keeping both shows hostage, how do you propose they bring them back? NBC & CBS won’t do it. Oprah won’t do it. FOX? Please,no way!

So instead of trashing my idea, how about coming up with ways to get the cast members back from LA and various other places in the country/world they may be and get these shows back on TV.

ABC would never go back to OLTL because they do not want to be proven wrong. Another is what Rich is saying. Even though I miss OLTL and wish it would come back. I sadly admit OLTL is over I would almost be interested in a new daytime soaps but I think I would have to be asured that it would be on for more than 1 year. The new show could in fact be developed with the bucs since the mannings are gone for now. But I pretty sure ABC will not add a new soap only another disappointing talk show. I still trying to understand with 50 or so hours a week why we need 30 or more of those hours being talk shows…

ABC daytime does not belong to OLTL anymore. I would love for OLTL to return but realistically, it’s not going to happen. Like Rich said ABC sold the rights to Prospect Park and and most of the cast has relocated to LA. The Chew and Revolution’s tanking ratings might save General Hospital from cancellation but it won’t bring back AMC or OLTL.

My previous comment on 2/2 at 8: 22 p. m. I kniow ABC won’t put AMC or OLTL back on !!!!!!!! But, as I was saying all along about putting OLTL & AMC on another channel on the t. v. Maybe some other channel will sponser our beloved soaps………..If Agnes Nixon can buy back the rites from Prospect Park!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prospect Park is useless for OLTL & AMC.. They aren’t going to do anything w/OLTL or AMC……….. They have proven that already!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe some other channel will see they would be an asset to them… Realize OLTL is top notch & that it got a raw deaL on ABC!!!!!!!!! That’s what I think about the whole situation!!!!!!!!! ALWAYS WILL BE A OLTL FAN!!! This soap will be very difficult to replace… Forget that crap they have on now (The Revolution) Doesn’ t fill OLTL shoes by a long shot!!! And it never will !!!!!!

rich, this is a question to get answered by 1loveabcsoaps or heather, but abc does own the rights to all my children and one life to live.and they can choose to give them to agnes nixon so she can go to another network,if p p would have got these soaps on line, they would have to pay abc alot of money,if you want to help go to facebook, then to swan there is a group of people trying to get agnes nixons rights back and so far abc is not listening, also rumor has it that p p may have a announcement to make this week.what it is about no one knows ,could just be a rumor.stay tuned.

No way OLTL was on 40 plus years for a reason.

Prospect Park don’t own the rights to OLTL. They just kinda leased them. The contract was very strange. Giving ABC the right to make a profit if PP was able to profit off of OLTL and AMC.

Love it! Bring back OLTL!!! ABC should wake up and smell the coffee. We soap fans aren’t going away we want our soaps back!

agree 100 present!

Actually Mary, we are going away! The only way they can get us back is by bringing our soaps back!

give us back our soaps!

i refuse to turn on the tv between noon and general hospital!!!

The LAST thing we need is another talk show or reality show! There are enough of those! How about real acting and scripts?!! Yes more people work and are not home during the day but that is no excuse to cancel soaps. I work and was watching the soaps on TiVo. I miss AMC and OLTL. I miss OLTL the most even though I had watched AMC longer. The story lines were great and I would LOVE it if it was brought back and know a lot of others who feel the same way!

i had a 1 hr break for lunch for years i’d take it 11:30-12:30 so i could keep up with amc & oltl more people than you beleve watch fathfully for years weather or not they had dvr vcr or a lunch break we want r soaps back!!!!!

Kassie DePaiva is making what she says is an exciting announcement on twitter tomorrow at 10 a.m. Let’s hope it is about OLTL coming back….that would be an answer to prayer. I am so happy this show is tanking. ABC wouldn’t listen to the viewers…I am happy the show is sinking.

I hope it is that OLTL is coming back!

I want this to happen so badly!!!!!!!!!!! Bring back the best soap opera ONE LIFE TO LIVE!!!!!!!!!! It’s #1 in my book………….. ABC made a LARGE MISTAKE in cancelling our WONDERFUL SOAPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! We never get tired of watching them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They always keep your interest!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOODBYE TO THE CHEMichaelW & ESPECIALLY THE REVOLUTION, replaced our heart-warming OLTL !! Michael keep us all informed about OLTL.. If & when it RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OLTL FAN FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG!!! I hope so too!!! I’m hoping that GH is a temp holding pattern for the few OLTL actors and somehow the show can come back. IT’s a long shot, but that’s my wish. I miss OLTL more than ever b4. If it does return I will watch faithfully like i’ve always had. Fingers crossed!!!! We need some good soap news!!!! As the actors have said there’s nothing like soap fans!! Kassie DePaiva is great at keeping the fans posted.

I agree. Bring back OLTL. However, if OLTL were coming back, it wouldn’t be Kassie making the announcement. It would come from the execs. Most likely, it has something to do with her stint on GH. Interesting….

True, it probably has to do with GH. I still wish they would revive OLTL. It may not be too late…if they do it before everyone gets other jobs it would be awesome.

I saw on twitter that Starr *Kristen Alderson and John (Michael signed a 3 yr contract with GH so maybe Kassie got one too.

My last comment was GOODBYE TO THE CHEW & MOST OF ALL THE REVOLUTION!!!!!!

All Kasie’s announcement was is that she’ll be on HSN Sunday…

Thanks for that info Gail !!! I am guessing that Kassie is probably making an announcement about her work on General Hospital. Whatever the announcement is though, I am sure it will be something we will look forward to. As for the ratings of The Revolution, I think we all saw that coming. I have never, and will never watch it, but the trailers promoting it are uninteresting, so why would the show be any better!

Kassie’s announcement appears to be a bust. Boo hoo! It was just about her giving away stuff. Oh well …

Has anyone seen Kassie’s announcement yet? If so, what was it?

Music to my ears about the bad ratings, don’t see them getting better with everyone boycotting ABC, YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU GET!!!! Wait till Nighttime ratings start falling (and they will)

I have completely boycotted anything on ABC including local news and such

I HAVE ALSO BOYCOTTED EVERYTHING ABC(EXCEPT GH) AND DISNEY AND THEIR SPONSORS

I am also boycotting ABC TV. Like Scott, I won’t even watch the local news on the ABC station here in South Florida. I switched to CBS for my local and national news, they are much better anyway.

So have I (EVRYTHING ABC/DISNEY)…actually I had started a movie on Netflix last night & when I saw it was a Disney film, I immedialtey shut it off and removed it from my queue.

I too have boycotted everything including local on ABC.

BOYCOTTED ALL THINGS DISNEY/ABC TOO

Also Boycotting ABC / Disney – cancled movie club & Family Fun magazine
( sent a note to both as to why i was cancling – till my soaps get returned to tv)

I’m so happy that show is tanking. Very proud of the OLTL fans who have stuck together to show ABC we mean business!!! I want more than anything to see OLTL revived but I am thinking, with the writers and cast already moving on, the hopes for that are dim. I imagine they will move GH to the 2-3 slot EST and put the sure to flop Katie Couric talk show at 3 pm .Really wish The Chew’s ratings were just as bad!!!

i wish i thought you were wrong but thats how it will probaly go to bad abc dident think this through & rember all the failled talk shows through the years all the while oltl & amc stood strong!!

Don’t want to see Katie Couric at all.. I have no interest in seeing her….Why don’t she stay where she is.. And stay off daytime programming…Viewers are not interested in seeing Katie Couric at all !!!!!!!!!!Stay on prime time Katie!!!!!!!!!!!!! You won’t fit in on the disaster daytime programming!!!!!!!!!!!! What I meant we don’t need another disaster reality information show!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!! Go away Katie!!!!!!!!!! The guy with the white lab coat on The Revolution is so ridiculous! He is making a fool out of himself !!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole show is soooooooooo STUPID!!!!! It makes want to throw-up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I extremely dislike cooking shows & reality information shows!!!!!!!!!! I like to be ENTERTAINED… Not bored to death which those shows are BORING & FULL OF CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

just bring back oltl. Please.

ABC cancelled our soaps.. The viewers cancel ABC daytime!!!!!!!!!! Bring back OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m waiting patiently!!!!!!!!!!

ABC/DISNEY really dropped the ball. Soap Opera Fans are Loyal !!! The will not watch this replacement GARBAGE. ENOUGH WITH THE REALITY GARBAGE !!! WE WANT TO BE ENTERTAINED WITH WELL WRITTEN SCRIPTED PROGRAMMING !!!! BOYCOTT ABC/DISNEY !!!! I miss some of the primetime shows BUT I WILL NOT BACK DOWN !!!! The only program I will watch is General Hospital on ABC…..ABC/DISNEY—DO THE RIGHT THING —GIVE AGNES NIXON THE RIGHTS TO OLTL and AMC if you won’t bring them back !!! We the viewers ARE your bread and butter !!!

yes

Barbara, you are so right. Soap fans are loyal! We pass on our love for the soaps to our children. It’s a family affair. And ABC didn’t think that through. They also lost me as a viewer. I miss OLTL, but I have started to watch The Young and the Restless and it’s not too bad. I will not watch any talk stuff, and I am done with ABC, which, as the home to my soaps was always the channel of my choice.
But, that’s loyalty!!!!

I’m also trying the Young and the Restless.

Absolutely bring back One Life to Live! It was a mistake to dump it. This could be an opportunity to not only bring back the old viewers, but bring in new viewers, as with a new soap.

I agree ith Karen!!!!!!!!!!

I love this!!! lol it serves ABC right, i for one have not watched abc since the last episode of One Life To Live <3 and will continue to boycott abc until they bring OLTL Back!!
i would NEVER watch this sorry excuse of a Replacement show!!

me too

soap fans need it make abc LAST in the ratings. i watched that network for years. i will never watch untill they bring back oltl & amc before it’s really to late.

please bring back one life to live and keep general hospital on the air, some day i would love to see all my children back but i will be happy with the other two. i have watched all three soaps since they started. i will not watch abc except for gh, those two shows you replaced the soaps with “the chew and revolution really stink!!!

thank you,
penny andrews

Agree with every word!

Me three!!! I totally agree!!

I won’t watch this show, but what I’ve seen in promos, etc., looks dreadful. I miss OLTL!

Space is made for GH. Maybe ABC will keep GH, like NBC keeps Days. Just to have variety in it’s line up.

This show is a disaster. Ty Pennington should stick to something loud like sports or one of those Joe Rogan game shows.

i am happy to hear what i new was going to happen all along..from day one they just needed to listen to what there viewers wanted then they wouldn’t be in this mess they created..do the write thing and bring our soaps back..that is what we want…just listen read your faxes, your phone messages e=mails, comments on fb and twitter and there is your answer ……ty

ditto

How many “your too fat….and cant decorate your home, so let us help you” shows do the networks think we want??? I am soooooooo happy to hear their next great idea is tanking!!!! YAHOOOOO! We just want our soaps BACK and for the head honchos at the networks to leave us alone!!! Good Riddance all you replacement shows!!

you sead it

I totally. Agree..

That’s the best news I’ve heard in awhile. Disney/ABC are getting exactly what they deserve! Gotta love karma! They’re only salvation is to bring back OLTL and AMC or give them back to Agnes Nixon!

yep

We all hope someone will realize the huge mistake that this has been. One Life to Live has been a piece of television history with an amazing following of dedicated fans. It is pretty evident that it’s successor can’t measure up to the ratings OLTL held! So many years of daytime history….ABC, admit you made a huge mistake and bring back our favorite soap. You’ll gain your ratings again and more so…these fans will return to watching ABC shows once again.

I agree with ( I Pombo)

Agree! ABC could actually come out smelling like a rose IF THEY WOULD ADMIT THEIR MISTAKE & BRING BACK OUR SHOWS! PLEASE!

i so saw this coming. bring bak OLTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So did I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one will ever watch these CRAPPY relacement shows .. I want them to crash completely!!!!!!!!!! I’m talking about: The Chew & especially “THE REVOLUTION!”

Bring back Oltl….and Do Not combine the shows….leave OLTL the way it is with all of the actors and storylines intact….that is the only way I would ever put channel 7 on again..

Apologize to the everyone involved fans, actor, writes ext.. And then bring back OLTL and leave GH alone

perfect solution i hope its not to late thought

great idea

YES! PLEASE!

The Revolution is dreadful! ABC/Frons made a major mistake by cancelling OLTL. I hope this saves GH as I have began to watch that show (the first time since they killed off Emily Quartermaine!) and am waiting for the Mannings and John McBain to come to town (and Natalie Buchanan).

i couldet say if The Revolution is dreadful as i wont watch abc except for gh but other wise i agree with you 🙂

Come on ABC!!!!! Admit you made a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE mistake and give us OLTL

agree agree

This may not bring OLTL back (though I wish it would) but I’m happy knowing that its replacement is tanking. You replace quality tv with utter garbage and this is what you get.

This won’t bring back One Life to Live. But it can sure save General Hospital.

I love the fact that these two new ABC shows are sinking faster than the Titanic!! Unfortunately for we, the millions of devoted fans of AMC and OLTL, these two shows may have been off the air for too long now. I mean, does ANYONE really think that the actors and actresses from those wonderful soap operas have been simply sitting around in the hopes of having their shows resurrected?? A few are already being seen elsewhere and I’m sure that many others already have new things in the works. So, how can they bring back any show that is missing too many of its key players? I have hoped and prayed each and every day they I would see see them again. But, realistically, I now feel that the most we may hear is an apology from ABC to all of the fans of these two institutions. Sadly, I believe we have seen the last of All My Children and One Life to Live.

The Revulsion will tank. Hell, they have to pay people $30 to view a taping! They should never have messed with the best soap on tv. I wish, oh how I wish that our Llanview family could return to their 2pm time slot, or any other time slot for that matter. I miss my peeps in Pine Valley too!
Maybe, if ABC/D can change their minds and put General Hospital on instead? I sure hope they save the last remaining soap in their daytime lineup. If it goes, so do I. Those rat bastards!

Of course they should bring back OLTL! I have a question for you Mr. Fairman, did ABC destroy the sets from OLTL?

Yes they were destroyed in December.

Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) wanted to buy them. But ABC had already disposed of them.

thanks for the info Heather. I guess I always thought if PP really intended to continue with OLTL and AMC they would have made a deal to purchase the sets from ABC. The fact that they destroyed the sets only furthers my belief that PP never really intended to produce the shows and it was all a smokescreen to quiet the soap fans until the shows were out of production. I don’t know anything about show business, but I find it ironic that ABC/Disney would believe that fans that have been so loyal for so long would just go away quietly. They really underestimated the viewing audience. Soap Nation Speaks!

PP actually did purchase the sets from both shows, after the deal fell through, ABC had them destroyed.

thats a good question,I remember when ryans hope was canceled and they gave the bar to another soap,I dont remember which one ,heather ,was it destroyed or dismantled ?sometime the sets are sold, good grief I cant stand the thought that pine valley and landview are all over the place or that someone had a big bonfire, and abc/disney had roasted marsh mellows ,say it isnt so.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought i had read somewhere that PP purchased the sets for both shows, but then later read that ABC destroyed them. I still believe this was all a farce from the get-go to quiet the soap fans. Anyway, if ABC destroyed the sets “when the PP deal fell through” who now owns the rights to these shows? Does PP still have the rights or does ABC? I ask because I really want to target my messages to anyone with some ownership over the potential futures of these iconic shows. While I’d love to see them return to TV, I’d be happy if I could access them online, cable or as future movies or books. There are so many possibilites for them to be successful. They have a HUGE fanbase already. I don’t see why anyone would be so shortsighted to throw away these shows and their millions of fans when they could easily be reformatted and produced more cost-effctively or in other media formats.

ABC still own the rights. ABC never sold the rights to PP. They had just licensed them to PP. Even if AMC/OLTL would have live on with PP, ABC would have still gotten some royalties.

It is extremely unlikely that ABC will sell the rights of the soaps to Agnes Nixon or anyone else for that matter. Licensing the soaps, no problem. But selling them outright, fat chance. Even if the soaps are no longer in production , ABC probably still has plans for them such as releasing them on DVDs like P&G is currently doing with ATWT/GL or syndicating them internationally like Sony is currently doing with their soaps.

OK that makes sense that ABC leased the rights and would want to retain ownership, but that’s really messed up. ABC thinks these shows are losers, but they don’t want anyone else to have them, and they destroyed their sets just in case a viable offer comes down the pike. I really believe that the shows could have been retooled (One Life to Live 2.0 per Allison’s script) either for web production, primetime, telenovella, made for tv movies, etc. It would have been nice to have the original sets, especially the iconic Lord library, Angel Square, LaBoule and so on. They could have whittled the cast down, maybe rotated them with AMC and GH (even show AMC Mondays, The Spew Tuesday, GH Wednesday, The Revolting Thursday, OLTL Friday) Anything but completely dismantle and destroy it before trying other alternatives. At ABC.com OLTL hasn’t been gone but a few weeks and it looks like it never existed! Yet they still have a message board for Lost? How long ago did that show end? It’s like they think that destroying anything related to AMC or OLTL we’ll all just forget the last 43 years existed. “Oh, I guess my entire life was just a dream sequence” ABC’s lack of appreciation for their talent, crew and viewers after so many years of loyalty just shows how out of touch they are in their ivory Disneyland towers!

I’m still not sure why ABC thought woman would want to watch how to cook and what to eat and then go right into letting us know what we should look like and what to wear etc….this IS NOT what woman want especially coming from men and people who have no reason at all to be on TV…we want AMC and OLTL…we want to sit down for 3 hrs whether in real time or DVR or Soapnet and watch our family and friends go thru their retched lives…THIS IS what women want even men….I would like to know how the SPEW has been doing and I would really like to know in general how ABC is doing as a network since they pissed off sooo many people…I can honestly say I watched alot of ABC it was the main station in my home…it has only been on now for GH…as a true soap fan I HAVE given up on Ellen and DWTS and my Wednesday nites…it’s really sad and maybe I’m not making a big difference but I do feel better knowing that I was faithful for 40+ yrs to my stories and I can be faithful in never putting ABC on in my house again…I have 7 TV’s and no-one in my home can watch anything that has to do with Disney/ABC and that was given up alot for my kids because they love ABC Family…and it’s just not allowed any more…you know the saying “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature” well it’s not nice to PISS OFF Soap Fans…..

No its not nice Cherle. Soap Fans are very strong. We are a sea of people. Though you don’t make a dent in the ratings since its all in the Neilens box which is randomly placed in homes. I googled after Oprah said its just not viewed according to the ratings. But I dropped ABC 99% I do like my Bachelor and as far as GH. In 2 weeks John, Starr signed a 3 yr contract with GH and maybe Todd and Blair will be next. So at least carry on the story line. ABC knows they messed up and this is suppose be a bandaid. I’ll take a bandaid. But I want a full recovery! Back in the day we sung.”I WANT MY MTV” well GUESS WHAT ABC “WE WANT OUR SOAPS!”

If ever an I told you so was in order, now would be the time. “I told you so, ABC/Disney”, now get your heads out of the sand and give us back what WE want, our Soaps. NO MORE REALITY, NO MORE TALK!!!

I AGREE WITH ILUVSSW…. NO MORE REALITY , NO MORE TALK!!!!!!!!!! WE WANT OUR STORIES BACK IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!! They belong on daytime programming……….. Not these kind of programs>> Leave them for primetime t. v. Thats were those reality/ talk shows belong!!!!!!!! On primetime……… Daytime programming for our soaps ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way it has always been!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree to ,we have to continue to ignore everything abc is trying to do to make us watch there garbage, even there prized soaps that will be on prime time.continue to call abc ,email ,join swan ,only watch general hospital ,all other programming is out of the question ,until abc brings back our soaps,or gives them back to there rightful owner ,agnes nixon, let her find another network to continue the stories from pine valley and landview .seriously, I am having the one life to live blues.

Soap fans are angry. They want their soaps back. ABC made a huge mistake and in the end I believe they will see ratings drop for many of their shows. As the saying goes (with a little twist) “Hell hath no fury like a soap fan scorned”.

Lori, you are right. I have watched many of the shows abc has on their network. Once Upon a Time looks like it’s going to be a pretty good show. But I am not watching. I was going to give The RIVER a chance. But not now. I am not going to get involved with any of the shows on abc. Not until they make some kind of reconciliation with the soaps the have cancelled. If they don’t want the soaps or their viewers they need to release the rights so we can watch them somewhere else. Then and only then will I consider watching anything on abc again.

We ALL knew that the Spew/Revelation would both BOMB!!!! So did AMC—–we all know that they were just putting “crap” on until us Soapers gave up—-then, we would give up and start watching ABC again—–NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!!

TOLD YOU SO, ABC! Nobody who actually watches television wanted this crap in the first place. The Revolution was the financial fantasy of incompetent executives and rightly deserves to fail.

Yay! Bring back One Life to Live!

Combine OLTL with AMC. Call it one life and family live. Hurry before all our favorite actors get new gigs? We can b in Llanview one day Pine Valley the next… Everyone is happy. Abc gets it viewers back!

If the new, phony “self-help” travesty so arrogantly touted by ABC was an old school 45 RPM (revolutions per minute) record it would have gone from 45 to 16 RPM to an immobile turntable before a listener could even name that tune! Give the deposed shows (One Life to Live and All My Children) back to originator Agnes Nixon and a competent, visionary production team and see how fast they go from 16 RPM to the latest digi-tech proficiency!

Bring back OLTL this is what the viewers want!!!!!!!

100% correct

The Revolution is sinking faster than the Titanic. Abc/d you suck. Ha Ha Ha

Payback is a bitch, indeed!! Reality TV is one of the dumbest TV inventions ever! Of course the rating will go lower and lower! Who cares to watch on National TV dirty laundry from other people’s lives, any more? So tired of all the crap that the Kard”trash”ians, the Kimoras, the Bachelors, The Chews, and such have brought on our TV screens? I wish they stop wasting money producing such cheap shows and they bring back all those beautiful, truly entertaining soaps that are taken away from us!

I’m loving this!!!! they probably regret their decision already.I hope this is a sign to ABC that they should rethink cancelling GH!!! I also ask myself what are they gonna do if they the cancel “that show” that replaced ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Replace it with another show or finally bring our show back..!!!!

bring back all my childres and one life to live if any thing gh could go i dont watch television iam waitin for my soaps television dont feel the same nomore please please bring them back they wont feel the same on GH

Looks like the 2:00 timeslot could very well belong to General Hospital starting in September.

I agree with @Cherie. I feel like this was a terribly shortdsighted business decision, based on executives relying way too much on studies and focus groups designed by people in the business of being in business with these executives. If ABC wants to justify cutting costs at the expense of customer loyalty, than that isn’t going to go unnoticed at a Disney board meeting. Someone, somewhere, is in charge of protecting the Disney brand from just this kind of loud, vocal, annoyed and fiercely loyal customer base. Someone is going to get fired who ISN’T Brian Frons. Because they did NOT consider what several million people is worth in this fragmented day and age. Maybe it costs the production arm of ABC less money per day, but at what cost in terms of potential ancillary revenues? The longer we’re out here, pissed, more sophisticated than they thought and more business savvy than they realized, more heads will roll. If my job is to tell you that you need to put on more reality shows, then that is what I am going to say, even if I don’t tell you what happens as a result. Lazy, sloppy business practices by out of touch, desperate corporate whores who have NO IDEA what viewers really want are to blame for this.

Once again, ABC has made a big mistake. They cancelled two great soaps and replaced them with shows no one wants to see. If The Rev is cancelled, another cast will be out of work. ABC get your act together and listen to the viewers. The soaps are still popular and could be profitability, with time , good acting and writing.

i THINK THEY MADE A BIG MISTAKE AND THEY SHOULD BRING OUR SOAPS BACK ON IT DON’T MATTER WHAT THEY PUT IN PLACE OF OLTO OR AMC THEIR RATING WILL NEVER BE THE SAME UNTIL THEY BRING OUR SOAPS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bring back all my children and one life to live and their ratings will go back up!!!!!!

Glad to see the show is failing. Bring back One Life To Live. I have stopped watching ABC and won’t even let my son watch the disney channel anymore nick jr is now his channel

We will never watch the CHEW or the REVOLUTION!!! we want our soaps not just one of them but all 3. AMC, OLTL, and GH. Bring them back or all of ABC will sink like the Titanic!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SOAP FANS AND MAYBE ABC/DISNEY WILL REALIZE WE MEAN BUSINESS!!!!!

We the people in order to form a more perfect union, Will not give up and fight for our soaps. Any one who thinks that replacing a soap opera will not make it. Revolution or anything else in its place. I miss OLTL. more than AMC. But I want them both back or at least combine them. If they felt it was costing too much. Okay, Lucci probably makes a ton from that show. But why couldn’t they just cut it down to a half hour we would have been able to handle that instead of shoving a talk show about weight loss and self esteem.

Bringing back OLTL makes the most sense. I already KNEW this show wouldn’t fly. All the way back to the Richard Simmons days, people are just not that invested in someone else’s weight loss journey. I’m still mystified as to how “The Chew” has even stayed alive. Unlike other cooking shows (which I watch avidly on the cooking network’s where they belong) you hardly ever see the dish prepared from start to finish. You still have to go online and get the ingredients but also have to figure it all out. At least on the other shows you see it so some of it is retained. Might as well buy a cookbook for all the worth this show is about. I think they should can this garbage too and bring AMC back, get some decent writers and hire the out of work actors back.

This show is going to continue to go down in rating and I am laughing the whole time. OLTL needs to come back. We all miss it and if it is between staring at the four walls during The Chew and The Revolution or watching them; I pick the walls. At least the walls will tell something that is more useful and informational. These shows are just another set of recycled shows. If ABC thinks these are one of a kind then maybe they need to watch The View. Same set up different reasons to waste the viewers time. The View is based off of political and current events which is the first show of its kind and decently good, The Chew is based off of crappy food which we can watch the Food Network, and The Revolution is based off of information that is common sense (yes hats go on your head, high heels make your legs look longer duh, and a host that has never actually been a designer just held a microphone). Wow ABC I thought you said that people wanted to waste two hours out their day to watch these replacements for two soaps that never should have been cancelled; I guess the viewers should never underestimate a room full idiots. Bring back OLTL it the only way you will save any hope of daytime rating or watch how PBS will take daytime rating with Barney the Dinosaur.

Christel Khalil Reveals She Almost Quit Acting After ‘That’s So Raven’ Audition, But Then Came ‘The Young and the Restless’

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is the special guest on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped today on Tuesday, June 23rd.

During the interview with Rebecca and Greg, Khalil who had played Lily Winters on-screen since August of 2002, nearly 24 years with the CBS soap, shared how early on her teenage acting career, she was ready to call it quits in show business, after a heartbreaking audition for the lead of a new Disney Channel sitcom, which later turned out to be the hit seres, That’s So Raven, starring Raven-Symoné which ran for four seasons from 2003-2007.

Christel recalled what happened. “I was 14 and I had always auditioned for all these Disney projects. So I auditioned for That’s So Raven, it was between me and Raven-Symoné and it was called at the time Absolutely Psychic,” explained Khalil. “The character was this girl who had psychic ability, but then when Raven got the role, they named the title of the show after her.”

HOW A BROTHERLY TALK CHANGED THE COURSE OF CHRISTEL’S CAREER

Reliving the disappointment to Greg and Rebecca, Christel explained, “I lost that part and I was just so devastated, because for the network call there were 20 people in the room watching me, and I just have always had such performance anxiety. I just completely bombed the audition and it was terrible. So, I was just devastated. I was actually going to quit acting and then I got the final call for The Young and The Restless and I wasn’t going to go.”

It was Khalil’s brother, who actually got her to reconsider, and if he hadn’t, we would not have our Lily Winters in Genoa City! Christel recounted, “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to hang out with my friends.’ I was just devastated. My brother, who is seven years older than me, and he had quit acting at the same age that I was at that time. He said to me, ‘I promise you, I actually really regret quitting. Just go on this audition and if you don’t get it, you can quit.'”

Christel’s screen-test for the role of Lily was actually with the late, great, Kristoff St. John who would play her father Neil (Later it was revealed to Lily, that Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters was her bio-dad).

ACTING WAS EASY WITH THE LATE KRISTOFF ST. JOHN

“So, I went (to test for Lily) and I remember the screen-test was with Kristoff St. John. It was just so easy to act with him because he’s just so there. I remember just being on set, and that was my first time there for a screen-test where you were actually on set. I had never experienced that before. It was my first time being with an actor and  having makeup done, which just helps you really be able to do your best work.”

Recalling the screen-test with the St. John, Khalil, “It was where I had to be emotional ( in the scene) and I always had issues being emotional at auditions. But I was there with him, it just came, and it happened. It was natural and I felt so good and it was amazing. It stands out in my mind a lot.”

You can check out the full Soapy conversation with Christel Khalil where she also discusses juggling motherhood, marital life, and the demands of soap operas.

Now let us know, over the years what had been your favorite Lily Winters story on Y&R as played by Christel Khalil? Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.

It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.

In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.

DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.

Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA

Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!

The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.

The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.

The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.

In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.

It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.

THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA

In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)

In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.

Share your congratulations to Deidre Hall for this incredible 50-year milestone as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives in the comment section. Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.
