Peter Reckell Addresses Rumors: He Is NOT Returning to DAYS, and NOT Going to GH!

Daytime icon and favorite Peter Reckell, who is so beloved as Bo Brady on Days of our Lives, is sorely missed by viewers and the industry since he departed the NBC soap some time ago.
Today, Reckell took to his Twitter account after beingĀ his loyal fans and followers wanted to know what is going on with all the rumors they were hearing, about a possible return to Salem, or if he is heading to ABC’s General Hospital!Ā Reckell tweeted about a return to DAYS:Ā “Ken (Corday) and I talked ,and as before we could not come to in agreement.”
Reckell tweeted in regards to being considered for a role on General Hospital, or another role on a daytime soap: “As for the rumors about other soaps, including DOOL, over the last year, those were started by people who thought they could benefit from them. The doors that are opening for me are not in daytime TV. Thanks as always for your generous love and support. š š :-)”

GH already has to many people in their cast so no lost there.

Bo Brady is the heart and soul of Days. He must be allowed to return on his terms. Period!
I am extremely disappointed that Corday can only promise story lines to one actor and for one character–Daniel. Forget what the fans want. More new characters coming and no room for Bo. It sucks.

DAYS has a whole lot that could be cut…Will, Sonny, and the whole gay ensemble for starters. But beyond that…there is a lot of dead weight. Rafe and Gabi come to mind. They just played one of the most absurd episodes ever…a cop funeral with 3 people in attendance, and this cop was a hired killer who we didnāt know or care about. And they canāt find room in the budget or on the canvas for Bo? It is a slap in the face to long time viewers, and to Reckell. Like others have said, we donāt know where the talks are breaking down, but we are certain his demands are not unfathomable and outrageous. The days of soap stars making diva demands have long been a thing of the past, and they all know it. That said….I really dont think Bo should be recast. Kelker kelly could never do it now, and I dont see any other actor doing it either, as it would have to be a pretty beloved, big name actor to pull it off. And if they had the money for a big name star, why not just go with Bo…Peter Reckell??

I agree with you about the whole homosexual part of the show. We mute that part and talk among ourselves when that stuff comes up. It feels cheesy and forced anyway. It seems so many shows are on some kind of indoctrination kick for radical social causes. Bo is a good and inspiring character.
Days can not get rid of the Will Nd Sonny characters. But the writers do need to masculine up Sonny more. When he came into the show he was a world traveler and adventurer, now he’s all wimpy. If you are to keep the characters stick with the characters initial characteristics.
I think it is terriblle they wont work with Peter He is one of the actors that has made this show.

Can not replace Peter!! That is his part and no one elses. They replaced him once before it it was just not the same as it was when they tried to replace Kristen!! If he is asking an unreasonable amount then oh well!

Some stars demand too much money and producers have to make smart
decisions. Pay big money for one person or the same amount of money
for several actors and there is no change in the ratings. I agree with
Ken Corday. You have to protect the bottom line.

Does anybody recall the last time Wayne Northrop, Patsy Pease,
Mary Beth Evans and Peter Reckell were togather as the Brady
siblings? Were they ever?
Wayne Northrop left in 1984, and returned in 1991. If they ever were together as the siblings, it would have been briefly in 1991, because that was right around the time when Mary Beth left after the disastrous attempt was made to pair her with Shane. Peter and Patsy also left circa 1992, after Kimās multiple personality story and when Robert Kelker Kelly Replaced Peter. Of course, since 1997, Roman has been played by Chris Kositchek, whoops, I mean Josh Taylor. Kim has shown up periodically and Kayla presumably still lives and works in Salem. Same as Bo. Thats an interesting question…Iām not quite sure how to even punch that into YouTube. Lol.
I can remember when they were all on DOOL at the same time. That was when the show was really good and not about who is sleeping with who. I really enjoyed the days when there was an actual story going on. Now it just seems that it the same thing over and over with different couples, sex, sex and more sex. Get back to the good stories. A little mystery that actually gets solved before it gets monotonous. I can miss a week and still know what is happening. AND I say bring Peter Reckell back. He is one of the good characters and the only person that can do it justice. DO NOT KILL HIM OFF, it won’t be the same.

Time to recast or kill off the character but only if there is no more chance he and Corday cant work things out. An important legacy character like Bo shouldve never been off the canvas.
I really like Peter Reckell, but GH’s cast is really over-sized already. I miss him as Bo, but wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
DOOL really needs a love interest for Hope (or some storyline). I would like to see her with Lucas. Any reason Hope and Lucas couldn’t work? Are they somehow related? I’ve watched for a long time, but I’m not a super-fan with all the history like some posters on here. I would just like to see more Hope and more Lucas. But DOOL has been sooooo good lately. Love it!

Recast, Recast, Recast— this madness of Bo “being out of town” has gone on long enough. I love PR as much as the next guy– but honestly they have recast Bo successfully in the past– no reason they couldn’t do it again. If they don’t recast soon– then yes, kill Bo off– we all know in soap land death is only as permanent as hair dye– it can always be undone– but limbo land is getting annoying and the character deserves better to languish in no man land while the tptb get their act together.

As much as I hate to admit it, I don’t miss him. I wish Hope hope more of a storyline. I think the show is doing fine without him. I would rather see the next generation of “DOOL,” especially if the show casts some brothers and sisters for Sonny and Teresa.

No doubt. Eve is pushing 50. They were teenagers along with Jennifer. Jennifer graduated in 1987, so in real time, that makes her 44 on the show. Eve was a gross character. She was a hooker, and scarred up, and sleeping with a greasy pimp. Yuck!!
I’m with you…don’t miss Bo either. But they should kill the character off so Hope isn’t talking on the phone to NOBODY forever. It’s beyond ridiculous!

I think DOOL should kill Bo off. It is clearly a money issue. Peter has a family to support and is entitled to ask for what he feels he’s worth, but these are hard times for soaps and unfortunately the money isn’t what it used to be. I would hope that he would return to DOOL at some point because I can’t imagine it ending without Bo and Hope.
They have specified that it is not a money issue. I think that Bo doesn’t agree with the gay story line because that’s when he left when that started. Wish they were done with that. DOOL was doing just fine wtihout that crap!!!!

I think the answer to this and so many other actors whose characters are not only MIA from the canvas but SORELY NEEDED TO DRIVE STORY is to pay them what they’re worth, write good, compelling stories that are character-driven and make sense for their history, and properly characterize them so that we don’t look at them in the SL’s and say, “huh?” That’s the answer. Pay Peter. Pay Stephen. Make room for them on the canvases. Give us the legacy people we’ve grown to care about. That’s what I think.
Oh well then…no Bo anymore?? I think now is the time for a visit to see how Hope is doing…No?? I’m sure she’d love to see her old ‘Beau’…Patience has its virtues…

Almost every single character on this show has been presumed dead at one point. There is very little emotional impact when this show tells a death story. But a Bo presumed dead story would work…it would affect the entire canvas…allow every cast member the chance to shine…especially Kristian…I still say she was robbed of an Emmy the year that twisted satanic freak Jim Reilly made the decision to kill off her son. She plays grief exceptionally well…and it would give her a big story…and eventually allow Hope to move on. I cannot see a successful recast at this point, and Peter is not returning, so it is one of very few viable options.
I do miss Bo and I am sure Hope does too. She just seems to be floating between scenes a little lost. Recasting him seems like a good idea. I wonder what Peter Reckell’s next move will be and where he will end up? I sense the money plus his status were a big issue for him and he is not settling for less. They had a recast one of the best in the industry Robert k Kelly but you shit all over him because once again you let actresses go bat shit on you. So to bad that they do not have a storyline next time accept a great actor who is ten times better looking etc. the only actress who met him even half way was Lisa Rinna. Recasting Bo Brady I feel would notwork. Some characters are owned by the actor and for better or worse, PR owns BB. The chemistry between Bo and Hope has nothing to do with looks- it has to do with the history between KA and PR. I have always loved when they would show history clips of the 2 of them from times passed. Also all 3 actresses that worked with RKK were not happy with him personally. CC even went so far as to say that when she heard PR would reprise his role as Bo years back she stated that she was VERY pleased to hear that. I’d love to see PR back. I never thought that Days could take 2 characters as Jennifer and Daniel and make a “hot” romance so boring. Just goe to show that the true chemistry between Jennifer and Jack was what made her truly shine. I miss the comical side the 2 of them had with each other.
Thank goodness Reckell isn’t returning to Days. I used to love Bo/Hope but Reckell’s portrayal had been lacking in recent years. Sorry- buy he was boring. When I read that he couldn’t come to terms with Corday, I detect money issues. His days are done- and it is time to pas the reins over to more interesting and timely talent.

No; I am not disappointed either way. On DOOL, Bo was written as a key stone cop with an ego. No reason for him to have an ego as a cop or a detective. Not sure if he has ever solved a crime. The Salem PCPD are written to be inept.
Make him an offer that he can’t refuse. Days needs him back with Hope. We want to see more of both of them. The show would be complete, love John and Marlena! The first stars on Days mean so much to the people who have been watching all our lives, like myself. You have some loyal fans to watch that long!

Where is Bo supposed to be, anyway? I remember he was taking his mother for Alzheimer treatments out of state, which I thought was a novel way to write them both off the show. Then Caroline came back less than a month later without Bo.
Re: Hope-I’m a somewhat new “Days” viewer (since the gay storyline started), but I know a little of the history of the show. In my opinion, I like the chemistry she has with Abe, but I thought for awhile there they were trying to pair Abe with Kayla (I think that’s her name?) after Lexie died and Patch (Steve?) disappeared.

Days has always been it’s own worst enemy. They have some good storylines, but often run them into the ground, and others that have promise get swept under the rug. They could try and get a deal with Robert Kelker Kelly, who played Bo quite well some time back, but I also think they could work out a deal for Peter if they wanted to. I am quite sick of the Teresa/JJ thing already, both of those sorry little twits should be slapped silly. And as for the gay storylines, they are here, we know it, but I am getting a bit tired of having it always shoved in my face. Anyway, there needs to be a serious return to the roots of the show, and that would solve a lot of the mess.

Honestly, when I was young–I did anything possible to stay caught up and not miss a show. Those were the days…super couples, crazy interesting story lines, exotic locations…I pulled up the “I Need a Hero” on youtube when Bo came back in black leather and a motorcycle. I can still remember that in high school! My teen daughters used to watch it with me…but then the story lines tanked, everyone’s kids left, and old characters just disappeared. I miss the old days. Sick of Sami and all her drama–really girl? Get a clue. EJ? You aren’t enough of your dad. Rafe–loved you on Passions, same with the guy who plays Eric (Ethan from Passions…BTW loved him with Theresa, but that show took major risks)? Loved Bo and Hope but their story lines are boring. John and Marlena? Awkward. Jennifer? No Jack. Remember Isabella? Roman? Kim and Shane? ISA? Eve and Franky? Patch and Kayla? Julie and Doug? Those were the DAYS… I don’t even like many of the new characters and some of them are really creepy. Stop trying so hard to appeal to newer fans and keep the old ones. My obsession passes on to my kids and its not much of a passion anymore.
You can’t kill off Bo. That would just dishonor him and his character. Its better that he is off doing the honorable thing. You can’t replace him–that’s like replacing Marlena or Hope. Somethings needs to change…writing? I think yes. Days needs to be resuscitated…or its just DAYS til its done.
No re-cast. He will be missed but time to move on!!!!!
I understand you need controversy to keep things interesting but let that happen among all the new younger characters on the show. I am 47 and have been watching Days beside my grandmother since the age of 10. Women like to live vicariously thru these characters and we need a steady couple like Bo and Hope who can keep that dream alive that “True love does exist” so Days needs to keep that alive. We also really enjoy seeing all the Holiday celebrations with characters and parties where everyone dresses up so please start adding these back into Days for the veteran cast and let the younger ones do what they need to do to attract the younger viewers.
After watching DOOL for 45 years, or more, I felt Hope and Bo were to be the next couple to carry on the Horton legacy that has been in limbo since Alice Horton died. Please Peter and Ken, work things out! Hope and Cierra need Bo back!
I love Peter as Bo, but if he does not want to come back they should recast his role to someone who does want to be there. they have done this before and should do it again, so Hope and Bo can get on with the show.

I have been watching Days of Our Lives for almost 30 years. My favorite couple was Bo & Hope. That is why I have been watching ever since. I was sadden to hear that Bo was leaving and will not be returning. My mom watched Bo in As the World Turns when he played in that soap opera. It will be hard to replace him! I wish him lots of luck.
Get peter back as bo brady. He is greatly missed. Work out a dealwith peter. I have been an avid and loyal watcher of dool and peter was a good part of it.

‘Days of our Lives’ Rachel Boyd on the Return of Sophia Choi as She Makes Her Way To Salem: ‘I Wanted Her to Come Back Stronger Than Ever’
Next week on all-new episodes of Days of our Lives, the Peacock streaming soap opera will pick right back up from where Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) has tracked down a very much alive, Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) in a diner in Kentucky. But what will happen when Sophia returns to her old stomping grounds of Salem?
In official spoilers for the week of October 12-16, look for Kristen to make a deal with the woman she supposedly killed, and by week’s end for the once-conniving Sophia to make her way back to Salem. Meanwhile, in a new interview with TV Insider heralding her return, Rachel Boyd, who did a tremendous job with Sophia’s original exit story, explains how she thinks this version of Sophia will be different than the last.
The exit story had Sophia setting out to kill Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) by a demand made by Kristen DiMera. Sophia failed to end Johny’s life and Kristen lured Sophia to the bridge and clunked her over the head with a rock and pushed her over the rails to the steely waters below.

Sophiaās body was never found, but she was declared dead. At the time, Boyd thought Sophia might be ‘dead-dead’ but in soap opera’s and especially Days of our Lives, nobody really ever truly dies!
WHAT’S DIFFERENT WITH SOPHIA CHOI COME FALL OF 2026?
Reflecting on her first run, which featured many an emotional scene, Rachel recalled: āAs crazy as some storylines can be, working on a soap opera is truly a boot camp in acting because youāre given one take and you have to tackle really hard circumstances.”
Those dramatic circumstances included: “Giving birth in my bedroom alone, penning a suicide note, or even attempting to murder someone by blowing him up are all things a younger version of myself would be so intimidated by,” expressed Boyd. “But I learned that preparation is everything and as long as I do the hard work before I show up to set, then I am capable of it.”
Rachel ended her first run back in December of 2025, but due to DAYS tape schedule, the character of Sophia “died” five months ago on episodes on Peacock. Once she returned to the set for her second-go round, it was all systems go. “It was more like being thrown into the deep end, which honestly worked for me. I enjoy working under pressure and with momentum.ā
The actress hopes viewers will see the internal change with the character as things move forward. āI knew I wanted her to feel distinctly different,ā she explained. āIāve always tried to keep the character constantly evolving and changing as she experiences new things and responds to trauma. But now that the audience hasnāt seen her for months, I had a great opportunity to fill in those blanks for myself and come back in a whole new way.ā
DAYS fans should really began to notice the change on next week’s episodes. āI wanted her to come back stronger than ever,” admits Boyd. “Now that sheās survived a near-death experience and kept herself alive and hidden for six months, this version of Sophia is going to be much more independent and a fighter. I canāt say exactly what is going to happen, but as long as Sophiaās alive, chaos will follow!”

2026 Daytime Emmys Gold & Silver Circle Inductees: Francesca James, Patrika Darbo and Meredith Vieira Among Those Being Honored
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced on Thursday, October 8, the 2026 Gold & Silver Circle Inductees who will be celebrated at the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, October 30.
This year’s honor roll features industry professionals that have made contributions across daytime television, including daytime dramas, talk shows, comedy, and more.
The Gold inductees include: Meredith Vieira (former c0-host of The View, journalist and EP and CEO, Meredith Vieira Productions),Patrika Darbo (ex-Nancy, Days of our Lives and Shirley, The Bold and the Beautiful, soon to be seen reprising her role of Shirley on Y&R), three-time Daytime Emmy winner, Francesca James (ex-Kitty/Kelly, All My Children, and ex-Marcy Wade, One Life to Live, plus director and/or producer at All My Children, General Hospital, Loving, Santa Barbara et al), and finally Byron Allen (Founder, Chairman & CEO Allen Media Group).
It should be noted that Vieira made guest appearances on both All My Children and General Hospital throughout her career. On GH, she played madam Bree Flanders in 2003 and 2012. She also appeared as a wedding planner on All My Children back in 2001.

The 2026 Daytime Emmys will be held at the historic Hollywood Palladium and will stream live on the NATAS YouTube channel at YouTube.com/@theemmys and watch.TheEmmys.tv.
The annual awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of genres, including daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be a single ceremony in 2026, produced by NATAS Productions. Adam Sharp and Lara Gates are executive producers, with Leon Knoles returning to direct for a fifth straight year. Rachel Schwartz serves as Head of Daytime, and the firm of Lutz & Carr, LLP, provides accounting services for the competition.

This week on Days of our Lives, Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti) surprises Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh) when he arrives in Salem, while the woman he loves Sami Brady is over in Italy, Viewers are becoming quite suspicious of Dante, who seemed to be in collusion with Dominic Marino, leading us to try to surmise just what are Dante’s true intentions to coming to Salem? To meet Sami’s family, or so he says?
Meanwhile, Sami Brady has spoken! In a new video that dropped on Wednesday October 7 on the official Days of our Lives Instagram account, Alison Sweeney appears for what is being called as Sami Brady’s Confessions from Italy or Salem Confessionals!
In character, Sweeney talks to camera explaining Sami’s perspective on her engagement to Dante, and how she feels about him coming to Salem without her to meet the Brady clan. Sami says, “This is such a crazy time. I’m engaged, but I’m not ready to be older. It’s just been my reputation in the past. I’ve always been in such a hurry to sort of like, get it done because it hasn’t always worked out. I’m engaged to a wonderful man named Dante. He’s Italian. He’s dreamy and fabulous.Ā I’m enjoying all of it, like the whole thing. Being engaged, being in love, dating, it’s a new thing for me.”

DANTE’S ARRIVAL IN SALEM
Sweeney as Sami continues to explain and rationalize, “Dante, hired my daughter, Sydney, to work for him, which has been amazing. She actually likes him. She’s approved of this relationship, which I’m very happy about.Ā But I will be honest, I’m a little nervous because my fiancĆ© is going to meet my family in Salem without me. I think that’s a good idea.Ā I’m nervous because my family, you know, knows a lot about me. But, I have told Dante everything. I mean, okay, not like literally everything, but a lot of. No, not a lot. Some, you know, enough and he doesn’t want to know the rest.”
All in all, it seems like Sami thinks she has found happiness with the guy, but she made be in for rude awakening as she brings up her manipulative past with the loves of Sami’s life. “He’s (Dante) happy and he loves me and I’m not like that anymore, so it’s fine,” explains Sami. “But I’m just saying that things might come up, um, because my family doesn’t forget either.Ā I’m nervous for them to just like him. I’m nervous for them to be happy for me. I want them to be happy for me, and for us ,and for them to see that this is different for me. I understand why they don’t believe that. I understand why they would be, you know, suspicious of my intentions.”

IT’S LOVE FOR SAMI
Sami shares she has fallen hard for Dante! “All I can say is I’m in love. It’s amazing. I recommend it.Ā I really hope that Dante wins over my family, and they can all be happy for me. I do hope to get married sometime and celebrate that with my family. That’s what I want. That’s honestly actually what I’ve always wanted and now I think it’s really gonna happen.”
As previously reported, Alison Sweeney will be back on-screen come June of 2027 on the Peacock streaming soap opera, when Sami returns in story along with Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton).
