From 2005-2011, the stars of ABC Daytime took the stage at New York City’s Town Hall one night each year for ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares. The evening featured dynamic production numbers, heartfelt ballads and hilarious skits. Now, 10 years after that final performance, the iconic ABC Daytime actors revisit their performances as they help raise money for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the event began in 2005. it was for a one-night benefit concert to celebrate All My Children’s 35th Anniversary. With overwhelming support from fans, the event continued for six more years and included cast members from One Life to Live, General Hospital and co-hosts of The View. Over its seven-year run, ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares raised an incredible $1.85 million.
“This event is truly one of a kind,” Broadway Cares Executive Director Tom Viola said. “We are so thankful to the stars from ABC Daytime for joining us again as we relive moments from this delightful tradition, while helping to provide lifesaving medication, healthy meals and emergency support to those struggling during this ongoing pandemic.”
“It was such an incredible privilege and joy to join my fellow co-stars to perform in the seven ABC Daytime Salutes concerts to benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS,” said former All My Children star Susan Lucci. “There are no fans like ABC Daytime fans. Their love and support continue to astonish us. We can’t wait to share these special performances with them and help raise money for so many in need during this difficult time.”
Lucci also shared her excitement on her Instagram account expressing: “We’re getting the fans and cast back together!!! Join us on Thursday, February 11 at 8pm for “ABC Daytime: Back on Broadway”—a fabulous online event revisiting seven years of singing, dancing and plot twists, featuring your favorite ABC Daytime stars. And it’s all to help Broadway Cares support our friends and neighbors who are struggling during this pandemic. Watch the stream at

I am so excited! I did read that Jordi Vilasuso (Griffin) is coming back to AMC also. Do we know anyone else that is for sure coming back? Are they going to recast JR? Will David Canary come back? I am sure they can’t have the entire cast back anyway because it will be not as much airtime since going to 30 mins instead of an hr. I can’t wait to see more casting news in the weeks ahead! Also who will the show writers be?
My choices for AMC & OLTL writers with PP

Brian, I believe it was only 37 minutes long on abc. Commercials commercials….. So, not too much less than tv version.
That makes sense. So maybe they can keep a decent cast still. I just know on B&B they have way too many cast members who never get airtime.
Can’t believe it!!!! Why can’t they go to a full hour online? Also, can’t believe that their going to be taping in Stamford CT – Now I’ll be able to go there & maybe see some of the actors/actresses as Stamford CT is only about driving distance 7 minutes away from me… YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
They probably cannot afford to be taping full-hour episodes. Soaps are never full-hours anyway. They’re between 35-40 minutes with commercials. So in reality, they’re filming a real soap time without commercials.
Tad, please!
Many people were angry at PP over things they had no control over, as the unions and sponsors..
And yet, PP has kept on to make it work and bring back our soaps..
they are indeed Heroes !! ..
((shame on some who blamed them for what was not in their control..
But, they did not quit, they did conquer all !!!
Time is all they needed..
PP said it was on hold /suspended until they could work it all out, and they have !!
WHOOOPIE!!!!
I’m very happy that they plan to air AMC + OLTL on a cable channel! As soon as I know what channel they will be airing on, I can finally tell my grandmother our soaps our returning!
Bring it on …. I will most def be watching ,,, Don’t change a thing … Adam/Stuart .. Brooke , Erica , Jake , Amanda , Tadd / Dixie even JR’s drunk self who did he shoot and Jack … woohoo
Super happy on One Life too! .. but what about the ones on General Hospital already ?
if Erica cannot make it back full-time and/or just does guest episodes? that could work…. I really think they should bring back Brooke to be the grand dame…. I just loved Amanda… she finally made it big and found true love with Jake and had her son. the reunion with amanda and her mom, Janet, was stunning… tears… i wonder whats taking so long with Tad Martin? he’s a definate pillar of pine valley… just saying… in giving us as much back of pine valley as they can. this goes for Dixie as well….. we’d have Brooke as the grand… Read more »
AMC: Erica, Adam and Tad. OLTL: Viki, Roxy and Dorian.
I;d love to see Lorraine Broderick as HW of AMC. Her talent is being wasted as a breakdown writer on DOOL. OLTL is more difficult. I wish that Ron Carlivati could write both that show and GH, but I know that’s not possible.
I am so happy Ron Carlivati and Frank Valenti are with GH now. NEVER bring them back to OLTL! IMO they were the worst HW/EP ever on OLTL and almost ruined it beyond repair.
Who do you like, Dena Higley? The only HW to equal Ron C is Michael Malone and the only EP to equal Frank V is Paul Rauch…
Ron’s writing is lazy. His grammar along is bad. And his storytelling is slow. And very dated. Frank, over-all, I don’t believe is that bad of a producer. But when he works with Ron it gives him a bad name.
I agree with you, Scott.
this is going to be a great year for soap fansto think just 2 years ago our hearts were broken now they are filled with joy!
I think moving the shows to Connecticut is a dumb decision. You’re losing a good chunk of the AMC cast who prefer living in LA. I know that now Rebecca Budig is likely to not return, since her home is in LA. And Cady McClain, who I believe lives in LA with her fiancé, may not return, especially with Jon’s decision to return to General Hospital.
As long as AMC is filmed in HD, I’m set. I just hope moving the show back to the east coast works out in their favors.
I’m hopeful and very excited to see how this shakes out. 🙂
I am so happy and very excited! Erica and Jack please, I love AMC. I can’t wait.
I AM HOPING THAT SOMEDAY SOON IT WILL BE BACK ON TV. MAYBE ONCE IT IS ONLINE TV WILL WILL TAKE IT BACK ON EVEN IF ITS A DIFFENT NETWORK T HAN ABC.
Frank Valentini and Ron Carvilati make a great Producer/Writing team, OLTL was never better over the last year of the initial run of the show.
