Days Of Our Lives
RATINGS: All Soaps Up In Total Viewers!

Courtesy/ABC
In the ratings released for the week of September 29th through October 3rd, it was good week for all four network soap operas in terms of total viewers with each showing gains!
The show that gained the most was ABC’s General Hospital, which benefited from the arrival on-screen of a bandaged Billy Miller (Jason). GH gained +103,000 and put its total viewer tally to over the 3 million mark once again! However in the key demos, it was NBC’s Days of our Lives and CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful that each showed gains in viewers on the positive side: women 18-34 (although B&B did not gain viewers it held the same as last week), 18-49, and 25-54!
Here’s a look at the total viewers picture via SON below: with numbers based on Live+Same Day ratings.
(Compared to Last Week/Compared to Last Year)
1. Y&R 4,568,000 (+24,000/-184,000)
2. B&B 3,716,000 (+79,000/+195,000)
3. GH 3,041,000 (+103,000/+310,000)
4. DAYS 2,484,000 (+49,000/+58,000)
strong week for the soaps. Impressed with B&B. Next week we’ll see how Ej’s death on Days did ,and Phyllis’s return at the Shick wedding on Y&R did
The scene in the morgue with EJ’s body and Sami (DOOL) really did me in, I cried my eyes out….something which I had not done in a long, long time watching a soap.
This scene was much more poignant and heart wrenching than anything happening on Y&R.
The part where Sami was feeling for EJ’s heartbeat? Well, that had me sobbing like an idiot.
Wow and double WOW.
Is EJ really dead?
He is only dead for now…we will probably see him later at some tropical resort with his Samikins on a beach drinking something with one of those little unbrellas thingies in it…but if we dont, and E.J. is truly dead, will come back to life if the actor ever decides to return to the show…i see the guy doing a lot of primetime work or joining GH as Valentin Cassidine!!!
All soaps are picking up as stories build up for November sweeps– in general the best months for soaps are October, November, February, April and May– so for the next few weeks all soaps should be picking up in the ratings as compared to the summer when soaps tend to go a bit flat. Looking forward to some good entertainment ahead on every show in the weeks to come until the holiday season when once again stories tend to level off as we start preparing for Christmas.
I believe that Y&R has definitely heated up and GH is beginning to heat up slowly
I’m gonna start watching gh with billy miller
You’re going to watch GH with Billy Miller, Mark? Cool!
All My Soaps had an interesting week…E.J.s and eventually Samis departure might change things for Days in the weeks ahead and itll be interesting to see which direction things go…itll also be interesting to see what happens when Melissa Archer joins Days later this year…Billy Millers did a fine job in those hospital scenes…im certain his joining the show and improved writing helped GH…cant wait next week for my soaps…got to see some episodes of ‘The Doctors’ and i loved it…just wish it was on a major cable channel…Liz Hubbard and the rest were as great as i rembered and i loved seeing Dr.Karen Werner again…The Doctors at this time was written by Rita Laken who helped save that show from cancellation…Britains Coronation Street with Peters trial for the murder of lover/babysitter Tina…a crime he did not do…looks pretty exciting…love the realism of this show…heres a little soap history: back in the mid 60s NBC was considering cancelling all three of its soaps…Days, The Doctors, and Another World…but new writers at all three soaps…Bill Bell at Days, Rita Lakin at The Doctors, and Agnes Nixon at AW brought up their soap ratings and saved those soaps from cancellation…thought some would like my ‘Blast From The Past’ daytime news…lol
Failed to add: Gina T.(Phylis) and better writing at Y&R is also getting me to tune in to that show a little more…Cant also wait for October 31st at GH: The Bride Of Francostein episode…better known as the wedding of two ‘monsters’ normally called Franco and Carly…lol
ohhhh damit! it’s gonna be good..
Franco’s Halloween wedding will be the #1soap wedding, of the year LOL
It for sure will not bore me.. no mushy stuff, it will rock!!
its gotta be great!! I can’t wait to hear the music …
The monster mash…………………
”’The scene was rockin’, all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, “The Crypt-Kicker Five”
They played the mash They played the monster mash
The monster mash It was a graveyard smash!!!!!!!
gonna love this wedding!!!
GH IS THE BEST SOAP ON TV!!!! SO HAPPY ABOUT THE ARRIVAL OF BILLY MILLER ON THE SHOW!!!! CAN’T WAIT FOR MONDAY’S EPISODE WHEN THEY SHOW HIS HANDSOME FACE!!!!! :):):):):):):):):)
That is great news, that the ratings are up. General Hospital and the Young and The Restless is on fire now. I am enjoying Gina Tagnoni as the new Phyllis Summers, Gina is a terrific actress and honestly I forgot about Michelle Stafford in the role of Phyllis. Gina has got be hooked again on the Young and The Restless. I smell another emmy for Gina in the future or sooner , maybe next year. I loved watching Gina, on guiding Light as Dinah Marler. She won 2 daytime emmys on Guiding LIght as Dinah Marler. General hospital is also on fire, love Nathan and Maxie. They are hot together. Julian and Alexis are hot too.
I think Y&R and GH are going to explode with Phyllis and Adam on Y&R and Billy Miller on GH. I love all the soaps, except Days.
I love DAYS!
I thought E.J. and Sami were the two best people on the show. I think the show will lose some of its fun and glamour without them. I also think some viewers will leave as well.
Loving GH, with nathan/maxie, alexis/julian,sam/patrick,elizabeth/nujason,carly/sonny,nina/franco,morgan/ava, and the list goes and goes.. Cannot wait for todays episode 😉 love my GH!!
I wonder how the Nielsen glitch will affect the GH ratings. Haven’t seen the adjusted numbers for daytime yet.
“GH” has considerably upped its game over the past month….between the gripping C-C action and added/returning talents of Billy Miller, Donna Mills and Sebastian Roche’, we have been treated to some top-notch plotlines and performances. Jerry was totally sublime yesterday holding court in that Amsterdam cafe’ surrounded by Tracy, “Sweet Sam” and Patrick. (Loved the tongue-in-cheek nod to SR’s vampire role in “The Originals!”) Somehow I just sensed last Friday when that door opened that “Jacks was back”….actually made me think “FLuke Who”…. cares?” That farce has gone on for so long, I’m almost past it….not the showrunners’ fault,, of course, what with AG’s ails, but it has nearly been milked beyond imagination and interest at this point. (Especially if the misanthropic miscreant is exposed to be the long-expected Bill Eckert or the latest hot pick of (Not Really A) Lord Ashton….the latter would be quite a letdown, and make me wonder if he were merely a last minute revision due to Geary’s continued lack of availability…..although that is no slam on Hugo Napier or his character….glad to have him back in the mix!)
Could Jerry still been Fluke…Jerry could been Fluke and is now holding Luke hostage, and plans to frame Luke for Flukes doings when it was really Jerry as Fluke and not Luke as Fluke???
Hey, jimh,
There is a strong possibility that Jerry is Fluke. The real Luke is in a dormant state….a stupor, actually, induced by all the mind-altering drugs he probably ingests as meals.
I agree with your deduction, though…makes so much sense.
What confuses me is that Jerry seemed to be genuinely surprised to hear that Michael presently holds the reins of ELQ; while, if I remember correctly, Fluke already knew that…..so, it should not have come as a surprise if Jerry were Fluke. Unless Jerry was putting on an act for Traci’s benefit. I do believe that Fluke has now been put to rest.
After seeing Jerry keeping company with Helena….conspiring…..I would think that Fluke could very well have been a Cassadine. Victor?….Stavros? Nah, I doubt it….he was too much of a flake…..Valentin? Was that you who suggested Valentin a while ago, jimh?
We shall see where this goes. Another imbroglio….a tangled web…..especially with Jason in the mix. Helena is the maleficent, head imbrogliona, at the helm; floating down the River Styx.
I cannot help comparing her to one of the living dead.
I may be way off here, but it seems to me that Jason’s face was altered before the accident. How else would Helena’s minion ,posing as a nurse , have known?
Also, since I’m on the subject of Jason, I believe his memory will come back, but, it will take some time…..and,he will be Jason Q.
Everyone on these sites talks about the fact that Jason had a personality change because of his first accident…..brain damage?
Well, as it almost always happens in TV land, namely soaps, a second accident is likely to jar Jason’s true memory(ies) back.
My apologies for the ramblings.
Not in my mind, jimh….Remember, not only was Jerry suffering those injuries from his swandive off the MetroCourt, but he was near extinction due to polonium poisoning….I cannot believe he bounced back so quickly as to have been traipsing about Port Charles throughout the spring. Besides, I still cannot envision that suave, silver-tongued snake comporting himself in the perverse manner in which FLuke became so renowned.
GH has shown remarkable improvement.
However, I still irritated by the dumbing down of the women. Anna, Lulu, Carly, Alexis and of course, Traci.
Traci has been so utterly clueless and uncharacteristically gullible that she is starting to remind me of one of those Catfish victims Dr Phil constantly features on his show.
Yes, Harry…there is remarkable improvement when I can actually sit through three entire episodes in a row and remain relatively riveted….(I am speaking of Friday, Monday and yesterday.) Of course, I find myself less enthralled with today’s preview, but one must take what one can, and give credit where credit is due. But you’ve a real point in finding issue with the growing phenom of Port Charles’ fairer sex being”stuck on stupid.” Tracy’s been rolling downhill for an age, particularly in relation to her blind allegiance to Luke/FLuke, but also please tell me that any well-traveled cosmopolitan female who came of age in the 1950’s/60’s would not be aware of Amsterdam’s reputation for what it is…..her astonishment in regard to their cafes and the particular products they proffer was really stretching it! As for Anna….I simply cannot go there….of all the alpha females of GH, she should never be so clueless. I put Lulu’s lack of awareness down to being frozen (and recast…) while Carly’s been thinking with something other than her brain for far too long. Finally, there’s Alexis–you know my take on her! Quite frankly the more I see of her–and that’s TOO much—the greater my conviction is that she is merely the embodiment of SB’s Julia Wainwright who apparently didn’t get that “happily ever after” with Mason, hence, she moved east to engage in one sad, pathetic, unsatisfying relationship after another….still trying to recapture the magic of Mr. Capwell, failing miserably, but continuing in an unslakable quest for physical, if not emotional, fulfillment.
Shay, why did God bless you with the gift of glib and not the rest of us? ( and i mean that as the utmost compliment) . I had no clue who Julia Wainwright was, so I had to research her….you’re just too much…too funny. Should have guessed it was your second favorite soap star. Oh, you don’t like the word ‘star’ being used? How about ‘performer?’ Take that any way you wish, Shay. Yes? LOL.
You know, Shay, I must agree with you about Tracy…..never mind coming from the Pepsi generation, the 60’s, but she is supposedly a well-traveled entrepreneure (feminine with an ‘e’ at the end) ; belonging to a distinguished, world-famous company, yes?
One of my grandmothers is Dutch and still has family in the Netherlands. Everyone knows about the cafés, as you so eloquently indicated…..how could Tracy be so naive?
Oh, CeeCee, there are times when I’m not certain whether my irrepressible glibness is a blessing or a curse, but if it helps makes your day, then I will favor the former! (Thank you for that….) As for your terming NLG a soap “star,” I have no quarrel with that … believe it or not, I actually enjoyed her work on “Santa Barbara.” Along with Lane Davies, she comprised a truly epic “supercouple.” They were magic together. I simply cannot say the same for the needy, obnoxious “Alexis” and her failed string of inappropriate Port Charles conquests…..in my eyes, lightning has not struck twice! Hence, she—not to mention her two most favorite “co-stars”….I know you know of what particular attributes I am referring— constantly land on my list of beyond annoying and least desirable GH regulars —(and no, I don’t mean the type of “list” like Nina covets—LOL.) Lastly, in reference to Tracy’s supposed lack of sophistication regarding all things “Amsterdam?”…..well, it absolutely makes no sense. This is woman who has definitely seen “Paree” (and the rest of Europe) way more than once…..she ain’t no farm gal!!!!

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.
