Days Of Our Lives
RATINGS: DAYS and B&B Gain In Total Viewers And Key Demos!

Courtesy/NBC
Steve’s proposal to Kayla, the arrival of Abigail (Marci Miller’s debut), and Brady making quite a disturbing discovery about Theresa were just some of the plotpoints that gave Days of our Lives a nice boost in total viewers and key demos for the ratings period of November 7th through the 11th.
As well, CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful scored solid gains in total viewers across all key demos. B&B added the most viewers of the week of any soap at + 125,000 and they tied with DAYS for the most viewers added in the 18-34 womens demo. However, DAYS added the most viewers for women 18-49 and 25-54 of any soap.
The Young and the Restless took the biggest hit in total viewers losing -94,000 for their average weekly total viewer tally at 4.5 million. The number one soap also lost the most viewers in the 25-54 women demo.
General Hospital also saw some minor losses. The lone ABC daytime drama series was down 16,000 total viewers from the previous week. In the key demos, GH stayed mostly on par with last week at this time either adding, or subtracting 1,000 viewers in the category.

Theresa presented us with a very moving scene. What a shocker, Patrick!!!! Did you see the tender moment between her and Victor? Amazing!! Incredible!! So sad!! Great acting by both and especially Brady.
Once in a blue moon, we see the talent shine.
As far as Kim? I just cannot take her too seriously with that hair.
Later, my friend.
“we see the talent shine”
yeah… its DAYS Inn
I’m celebrat’ing
Days for the most part was very good this week. I felt bad for clueless Lucas..everybody and his mama wanted that wedding a no go lmao. The six guests was uncomfortable to watch until numb skull JOEY who couldn’t keep it in his pants couldn’t stand five seconds without blurting out to Steve at his sisters wedding.. I GOT JADE PREGNANT…what a sheltered little puppy…and JUSTIN..BWAHAHA..the reaction from Adrienne…blissfully gliding down the aisle..and Justins loudass mouth as he rushed her from behind..ADRIENNNNE…i busted out laughing..rewound it..and busted out laughing again..love teddy bear Victor with Theresa..best of all..NO HERNANDEZ SIGHTINGS..not looking forward to attic living Abby..hope that doesn’t last long..FOR REAL THO!!
ON another note..i don’t know what is going on with Alexis..but i do know waking up hungover and clueless ain’t no joke..i cringed with every memory that kept coming back to her till she realized in a funny sort of scene creepy franco saved her and she doesn’t even know it..haven’t finished Friday show yet..so i hope that doesn’t change..Liz rapist creeps me the cluck out.
I was terrified for her… I kept thinking… what if whats his name… Tom Baker… showed up.. and she has no recollection
I’d like to give kudos to Nancy Lee Grahn and the writers… for putting out their… and it has nothing to do with her “blacking” out… but that NLG is giving new show
dang it tho… didn’t Jax look handsome ! even if he was way out of line… telling Alexis he was going to tell her daughters whats going on.
YES Alexis… you are an adult… and it’s your business.
Oh Patruck…I agree Nancy’s been great…but she never disappoints me. I don’t agree that Jax was out of line. She’s his best friend and obviously needs help. Hopefully he’ll continue to keep trying while he’s in Port Charles. It’s not about her being an adult; it’s about her road to self-destruction and I would hope (and am happy to see) that Jax loves her enough to step in. She needs that and when she gets it together I’m sure she’ll apologize and thank him. And yeah, he looks handsome…a refreshing ray of light in a sea of darkness…
Hi, dav,
I have never drunk no more than a drop my entire life; so I cannot imagine anyone’s disorientation or the cobwebs overwhelming Alexis’ mind right now.
I think Nancy is displaying this so real problem in our society with full speed ahead. She has surpassed my expectations.
The prospect of a healthy Alexis seems bleak. But, this is the crux of the story. I would hope it will show that even at one’s lowest pint in life ; scraping the bottom of the pit, there is hope….light at the end of the tunnel.
I think Nancy will do Alexis justice.
To your other comment….just my opinion, but I am not relishing the rapist, Liz, and Franco ridiculous story. Sooo bland and pointless. I wish someone would explain the point to me, so I can say: “Ohh, I see!”
days of our lives delivers the best on all levels compared to bold and beautiful . with silly bold and beautiful it is always the same triangles and the same boring and predictable stories we’ve been fed with for years ! young and restless is a shadow of its former self , it’s also torture to watch . i recommend Days of our lives to every soap fan , it is the best soap on the air at the moment . it has greatly improved . my elderly neighbour Grace was so fed up with General hospital with the never ending mobster and mafia plots , shootings etc … that she asked me to help her find a soap with some heart and likeable characters and i recommended Days of our lives , she’s been watching it since last week and she is thrilled . Loves Steve and Kayla , joey and the new Abigail .
NICE post
seriously… I can’t not agree
“Days of OUR Lives” – “it is the best soap on the air at the moment . it has greatly improved . ”
I was pinning a lot on Ryan Quan… and his give and take with Dena Higley.
ie: it’s been a couple of months since they’ve debuted… October 6, 2016
I’ve certainly noticed an upswing… and it’s SHOWING in the ratings !
I, too, finally gave up on GH this past week. Watching it just felt like an exercise in masochism. I’ m hoping DOOL , which I’m liking a lot more right now, will overtake it in the ratings. I’d consider trying GH again when Jelly goes and the show regains its heart and soul (not to mention brains) and stops being all about obnoxious Sonny and his apologists.
Y&R – Waiting for SSM’s writing.
GH and DAYS – Struggling with half the viewership of Y&R! I am worried!
I’m not out to be negative on purpose here, but honestly should we really throw a party because Days got a “nice boost” in viewership and key demos for this one particular week? Yes, Days did not drop in the ratings for this one week in question, but its numbers are not going to fall EVERY SINGLE week!! Even with the results of this week, the reality is that the show is still far down in those categories from the same week last year.
I’m just trying to inject some realism here. One semi-decent week is not going to undo however many weeks of steadily falling numbers and record lows that Days has had. I’m not a programming executive with any inside knowledge of what they plan to do (or may have already decided privately). But I’m 100% certain that NBC/Sony will not base their upcoming decision on Days’ fate on one or two specific weeks. They’ll undoubtedly do a big picture cost vs. ad revenue analysis and determine whether the show has any real chance to rebound and be (more) profitable in the future or not. It will all be based on how the show has trended and is projected to trend. That’s how renewal/cancellation decisions are made for the most part.
I’m NOT guaranteeing that Days will go and it will be sad if it does, but let’s be honest here- At this point, nobody should be shocked/stunned if it does indeed happen following the four major soaps that we’ve lost since 2009.
Agreed. It’s almost like the equivalent of trailing 40-0 in a football game, and then the losing team Is celebrating with an end zone dance for a meaningless touchdown in garbage time to break up the shutout, LOL.
hopefully… this is a good indicator… that the show is turning around… only 2 months in… the teamwork of Ryan Quan and Dena Higley . they debuted October 6, 2016.
I just pin all hope that … no network … should let go their one show that should be built around. it just wouldn’t be daytime.
Who’s throwing a party? I don’t see any confetti, but nothing wrong with being pleased that Days’ ratings are up. Yes, we still have a ways to go, but again, nothing wrong with being pleased at the improvement from previous weeks.
As for GH ratings, I keep going back to the need for some “happy” stories instead of the steady diet of doom, gloom, and killings, or almost killings. I want to be whisked away during my daytime shows, not the equivalent of the daily news.
I agree. They might as well rename GH “Mourning Morgan.” GH has too many villains and too much Sonny angst.
Oh boohoo you guys…;) someone mentioned this on the GH page but I thought the same thing as him.,,,
Stone dying of AIDS, Robin contracting it, AJ’s alcoholism, Jadon’s near fatal car accident/rejection of his family, Barbara Jean’s heart disease, her death, Joss’s kidney disease, EMILY’s death, Laura’s catatonic state…and these were the UPLIFTINg stories! I jest of course but GH was always on the dark side…they just don’t do it half as well as they used to. Looking back on old clips…night and day.
Yeah, too many villains, and more coming, it seems, Addison.
I really want to resist the urge of FF-ing Nell so much…..but, I don’t want to miss any clue of what her deal is. Did she put the bomb in Julian’s car? Was she skulking around behind doors at Sonny’s? Did she hear his conversations?.
Is this Jessup, or his impersonator, linked to Nell?
GH has a long history of dark stories but back in the day, they did them better
But like I said not a steady diet of dark and gloom. I might as well watch the news.
Yay days!
Y &R is just sitting and waiting for Sally to reboot. They will be fine.
The ONLY thing on GH that is Gold is Jasper Jax! Him with Carly and Alexis are pure class!
DAYS will overtake GH and then maybe some heads will roll!
Well the one good thing also is that the new team will be writing SB exit so it might make some sense I hate this storyline of Sully never needed this baby and sure did not need the character of Dylan now losing three babies in the four years he has been on the show. I. BelieveAvery lost his baby off screen then Chelsea then Sharon. Wash rinse repeat!
the baby story was stupid and unnecessary
Jax and his homemade Belgian waffles are injecting a much needed ray of sunshine into this dreary landscape. Please keep him and send Sonny off to a mountain in the Himalayas where he can became a Buddhist monk or something.
He can come back in a year but many of us could really use a Sonny break.
I do not like green eggs and ham, waffles ( Belgian or otherwise) or pancakes.
I’d rather have pizza for breakfast. LOL.
I do agree about Sonny, though, Addison….great idea!!
BUT, when Jax is around, he and Sonny have some epic exchanges! Jax doesnt take Sonny’s BS!
Frankly every soap should be doing better than normal during Sweeps the fact the improvement is so slight or non-existence for a Sweeps month is troubling. I get no vibes from either NBC or ABC that they are interested in improving or investing in their last soaps– CBS is counting on a Hail Mary pass with hiring former writers for Y&R who at least know the show– but there is no guarantee that the new team can undo the damage– plus they cannot erase the last 10 years, they will have to consider recent history as much as old history in crafting stories– so it may work, it may flop— B&B is what it is– for some the same old same old is its weakness, but sometimes sticking with what works is best — and the one thing B&B has going for it is no behind the scenes drama– the same producer — same head writer– the same vision– the motto being if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. So as long as B&B stays in a solid number two– I expect it to stay the course with what it does best– and at least B&B has some romance on it— which is sorely lacking on the other soaps right now.
Mary SF…the other thing I like that CBS does is that it promotes it’s soaps with ads, even on night prime-time, and has the casts members appear on shows like The Talk. Daytime for them isn’t treated like orphans. I rarely if ever have seen this on ABC.
Your right Mary SF on B&B having romance, even though said romance might not being going where I want. I hope Brooke and Ridge don’t reunite. I never cared for Thorsten Kaye as Ridge, and his chemistry with KKK is nill. I say let that ship sail and either leave Brooke single, or keep her with Bill. In my opinion, when you have a recast, the chemistry never comes back and it usually doesn’t work. I’ve only seen it with Jack and Phyllis and Chelsea and Adam (Justin Hartley). But like you said at least there is romance. I am loving Quinn and Eric. I am wondering if we are going to have a Katie, Eric, Quinn triangle for the new year. That is if Quinn doesn’t crack first. Let the games begin. Thanks for listening Mary SF
People want romance.on soaps like GH then by God get Melissa on GH FV ASAP & REUNITE HER WITH MICHAEL THEN THEY”LL BE ROMANCE ON GH!! NO IF’S AND’S OR BUD’S ABOUT IT. CERTAINLY NOOOOOOO WAYYYYY to Finn & Hayden Barnes she is horrible for him & their horrible together because of her period. He needs his Melissa asap!! Thank goodness it will be VERYYYY short-lived!!!!!!
NO CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THEM WHATSOEVER !!!!!!
???? Her period? I think I missed something.
I think, Kathryn, Finn and Hayden have great chemistry….steamy, even. Rebecca is one of the sexiest women on soaps….and she knows ‘how to give it”. I am not a man, but, my husband is….and he agrees, the few times I force him to watch with me.
waiting for the new writing at Y&R because the show is terrible. i knew Sharon being trashed again would tank the ratings
I want the ratings for all four shows to continue rising each week. The last thing we want is to see a group of actors and crew unemployed. B&B is a great show. I have just started watching DOOL again after a sabbatical. I had no interest in seeing Aidan’s return or some of the other storylines. The return of Abigail should bring some excitement to the Chad/Abigail/Gabi storyline. Gaby is too mature of a character for JJ. If more characters from the past are coming back, I would love to see Mike, David and Scotty.
Glad B&B is doing fine in the ratings. Nice boost! Looking forward to SSM’s new and improved Y&R in December!!!
I just watched Friday Nov 18th episode of DOOL, not bad. Ok, I am sorry for I know I bring it up about Y&R and now I will say it about DOOL, the background music IMO is annoying. I so miss the days of Marty Davich handling the Background Music for DOOL…
Congrats too days of our live I love this show it continues too grow in rating I only been watching it forever my friends go oh everyone watches days of our live it fan favorite
Yes!!!!
PS
I mean, YES!, to the continuation of good ratings for DAYS. But, to call it a fan favorite….I don’t know yet! Days has a lot of catching up to do, in my book.
Disagree.. Different soap, different characters. I’m loving Finn and Hayden.
Ok baptized again after thirty years and we were singing the song it is well with my soul! God bless all of you and in the spirit of Thanksgivinig reach over and thank someone for being just being!!!! God bless you all
Really glad to see Days’ ratings improving. Also happy for B&B.
Fans are jumping in to the harbor at a record pace, ratings are crumbling, does ABC care? I think not! GH is an easy fix. WE have all wanted MORE hospital stories and the Quartermaines. THAT simple! BUT, every writing team fails. I will never quit GH, just keep a fresh supplies of batteries for my remote control!
Days of lives was good this week. Ok the one story line was weird where hope was sentence to 25 yrs to prison for killing stefno demira. Now hope is in prison the next story line will be good the question do you think andrea demira had some thing to with her sentencing since the judge is a member of demeria family do you think stfeno can resurface from the dead i think days of our lives will be good the next few months
Well based on the ratings is allbout the storylines if the shows has new writters such as days of our lives the writers comes up with real good storylines and the viewers likes the story lines that what make the ratings go up

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.
