RATINGS: DAYS Has Strong Week! Only Soap to Show Total Viewer Gains!
Looks like fans were tuning back into all the melodrama leading up to the shooting of Stefano DiMera and Lexie facing death with her inoperable brain tumor on Days of our Lives. The soap rebounded into the number three spot ahead of General Hospital and was the only soap to gain in total viewers for the rating period of May 28th to June 1st! DAYS gained + 102,000, while all the other soaps, Y&R, B&B, and GH lost total viewers. In addition, this is the first ratings period we have seen in a long time where DAYS did not lose any ratings shares or viewers in all the key viewer demos, either.
Now of note: because Monday the 28th was Memorial Day, none of the ratings of your favorite soaps were counted that day, as you will see in the complete ratings data courtesy of Soap Opera Network. However, there was some good news for all the soaps, in that, all four soaps showed gains in the key 18-49 female viewers demos.
As per usual, there was no change at the time with the the top two rated series, CBS’ The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful firmly the top dogs, while GH slipped to the fourth position among all the remaining daytime dramas. As we have previously reported, tune-in at this juncture is paramount. So, whenever you can make, sure to try to catch all your soaps!
So now that you see this week’s ratings analysis, are you digging DAYS again? What is working for you on your favorite soaps? What needs to be adjusted to make you want to tune-in more often? Or, what do you think needs to be done for the soaps to try to capture more viewers and the fascination of the mainstream audience who has tuned out to the soaps? I’m glad for any improvement in ratings because I don’t want to lose my show and because I know the actors are giving their all despite the awful writing. I’m really looking forward to the Tomlin/Whitesell work to begin airing. It doesn’t matter to me who shot Stefano since he’s not dead anyway; Lexie’s departure will be heartbreaking and Renee Jones is doing a great job in her portrayal of a dying woman leaving her little boy; Carrie needs to pack her bags and go already; Kate and Junior’s storylines after messing with documents and secret letters should get interesting; I’d love to see Matt Ashford stay as Jack; I’m hoping for good things for Brady as well as Nicole but what I’m most looking forward to is how the writers will mend the SAFE relationship. That’s a solid lovestory with such symbolism and romance that it needs to be restored. Galen and Ali rock it! Bring it, Days!!!
I am happy for any gain in Days ratings. ^^^Not a safe fan and hope they never go back to that boring twosome again. Ejami brings the hot, natural chemistry they have to the show. They have always belonged together and it’s time they were given their chance.

No, I’m not digging Days again and probably never will. People keep leaving that show, viewers and cast members alike. There will soon be no one left in the cast that I like. With Molly leaving, the only person left that I care anything about is Peter and we still don’t know if he’s staying or going.
I’ve moved on to one of the top dogs, B&B. The problem here, though, is way too much of the Steffy/Liam/Hope triangle. Enough already! Wrap it up and move on! Then they’ve started this story of Caroline and her two mommies, but we’ve barely seen any of them since it started. Nice start! Show us more!
So happy that Days gained again. Not looking forward to the Olympics pre-empting my soap this summer!
Wish we’d see more John and Marlena in a full-out story of their own, with others helping out, love when a lot of the cast is inter-twined in a story arc. More romance for John and Marlena too.
Also, would love to have Matt Ashford, and Christie Clark stay. Bring back Eric, Belle, Shawn, and Claire too.
Days was preempted on Friday for the French Open. Sometimes soaps are interrupted for breaking national or local news. My local stations feel compelled to interrupt for every multiple murder, police chase, or mayor’s press conference, etc. Don’t the networks and local stations understand that if people make their afternoons free to watch soaps they don’t care about sports or news, which can easily wait for another couple of hours?
Your absolutely right david. A couple times last week our local news went on as soon as general hospital was to start, and I am yelling out loud calling them jerks, why couldn’t they do it when that stupid revolution was on who watches that? Seriously, if a tornado is about to hit my house ok interrupt my soaps for anything else I will catch it on the evening news on another network of course. I do miss my local abc news but until the soap problem is fixed I can’t watch

Yes I want the ratings to improve but I don’t see that happening until DAYS gets back to some normalcy. I really don’t care who shot Stefano he is alive somewhere. They need to put a disclaimer at the end of every show saying “subject to change until Tomlin/Whitesell take over”! I’m ecstatic that Carrie is gone it would be nice if it was tomorrow! With her insane tweets sounding like a jealous wife to her terrible panting over Rafe from the moment she got back to Salem, if I never see her again it will be to soon. I wish they would keep Jack there is so much potential there for Jack/Jennifer, instead of pairing Jenn with Dr. who has had a fling with every patience he has attended to! I was hoping they would bring back Chloe for Brady I always loved them together. Ej/Nicole need to reunite they really do love each other. Lexie is doing an amazing job sorry to see her go! And some how they have to fix SAFE, they are the epitome of romance, friendship, love and family, theirs is a LOVE STORY, they have amazing chemistry, passion, desire for each other, there’s not another couple on soaps that can beat SAFE!
And Tomlin/Whitesell they need to write what is in their hearts, and forget about what the fans want, because you will never satisfy viewers no matter how hard they try. This is how DAYS got into the despicable situation in the first place! They had to rip apart every couple and actor on Days to sell EJ/Sami! Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!

Sami wasn’t Sami and Ej wasn’t Ej and we never knew who Rafe even was.
I never liked Sami and Rafe for that reason. Sami actually turned into Carrie while she was with Rafe. He made her boring as heck, and Sami Brady should never be boring. No wonder he felll for Carrie. She’s the real thing.
EJ and Sami have a pull to each other that I don’t think they understand most times. Even Will realizes that!
I completely agree. I LOVE EJole and EJami will NEVER work or be as good together. For those who say Sami and EJ always only loved each other, NOT TRUE!!! In 2010, when EJami was going to get married, Sami kept fantasizing about Rafe. You do NOT do that when you’re in love with someone. I wouldn’t mind a Safe reunion, but I LOVE Cafe, and heard rumours that Carrie will return solo sometime in the distant future, meaning a Cafe reunion. Also, I like the idea of Racole and Lumi, though it seems like Daniel and Nicole might be together, so I wouldn’t mind a Safe reunion.
So when EJ was at the alter with Nicole he was thinking about SAMI and when he was making love to Nicole he was thinking about SAMI.
I’m still not interested in what’s happening with the show! Most and foremost, I hate what MarDar did to the characters and my fave couple, Sami and Rafe! They are the reason why I watch in the first place. Since they are apart, I have no reason to watch!!!
Who cares who shot Stefano?? Just die already! The Dimeras always get away with murder and really, it’s starting to annoy me!
I hate to see Matt Ashford leave. TPTB didn’t even give him a decent SL! Maybe, Jack & Jen could have worked together again in the Salem Spectator. That could have been fun with their old banters, just like in the late 80’s.
I’m just waiting for the current writers’ SLs to kick in, hopefully soon, so I will have an interest in watching again. Hoping that they can mend our broken SAFE once again, restore the great love story that Days ever told in the last 3 years that MarDar ruined in a matter of a month when they took over the writing team!

I agree. Sami cheating with EJ because she was sad was SO stupid! While I like both Cafe and Lumi, and enjoy Nicole’s chemistry with Rafe, I think that Safe was a good, genuine and realistic couple that only got split up becaues of two reasons: Sami’s horniness and the writers’ foolishness.
For the first time in quite awhile I couldn’t wait to watch DAYS. Color me shocked. I’d about thrown in the towel.
EJ/Will/Sami top notch stuff. Lexie telling Abe how she’s not ready to die made me misty.
Some of the stuff is kinda silly with the Who Killed Stefano and the keystone cops and wanna be murderers, but other than that. Better than it has been since November.
General Hospital desperately needs some romance and happiness right now!! My vote is for Dante and Lulu to take center stage again, since their chemistry and fun-loving ways are addictive!! There is way too much sadness on this show right now, and I could really do without the Llandview residents until we get our missing GH cast back on screen….especially the talents of Dominic Zamprogna and Julie Berman, but also Jason Thompson and Lisa LoCicero!! I am loving crazy as a loon Heather though!! Also loving Anna as the new police commish!!!
It would be great if we could get Lante and some love in the afternoon on GH instead of dead babies, baby swaps, and how many people have been killed off lately. Not the way to raise ratings.
ABC needs to promote GH during prime time and through out the day.
They won’t do that because they are to dam cheap, they are saving there money for katie, the view, the chew, that good afternoon america garbage and their ads for there prime time crap shows, what a waste of money and time, I hope the ratings go even further in the toilet then they are now.

Actually, they do now promote GH during the day. But not during the night.
Really, I wouldn’t know anymore because I don’t watch any of their daytime shows except general hospital and all they do is show whats happening on the chew the next day or into the next week, Even when I did before they canceled the soaps they never, daytime or prime time promote the soaps and abc was always on in my house.
I started watching Days since AMC ended. I am getting into the storylines but some of the characters are really boring. I want to see more folks come to GH from OLTL and then maybe some from AMC. I want to support soaps.
As a fan of the hospital staff on GH, there really isn’t a reason for me to watch right now. I’d love to see a story with Patrick moving on from his grief, Elizabeth dating Ewen (not being stuck in Jason’s story!) I’m really sad to see Matt go because with Robin and even Maggie, that’s a loss of a lot of the hospital side.
GH is all about the mob people and the OLTL stars, I’m not really interested in any of that, so I don’t care about the story lines on the show right now. Maybe they will shift the stories to other cast members for a bit but I think with all the new OLTL people, the GH supporting actors will be lucky to get a few minutes a week.
I still don’t have alot of interest in Days. I watch occasionally because of the Lexie storyline. Renee is doing an awesome job and i have definately needed a few tissues during her scenes.
These writers have ruined so many couples and characters , i hope the new writers can start to fix the mess that they had created and start writing some good storylines. We need storylines that revolve around family, romance, friendship , not storylines that revolve around people bed hopping and blackmail, these stories have been done over and over .
These new writers need to start writing for what they believe will get the viewers attention, they need to stay away from boards and trying to please these people because you are never going to please everyone and IMO the majority of the GA don’t post on boards.I think the last writers listened to what was being written on these borads and it didn’t go over well.
I can’t wait to see who else is getting the axe…Hopefully, Rafe and Brady…Both are useless in my opinion. So glad to see Ian, Carrie, Austin and Madison will soon be gone. I wasn’t overly upset to see Jack leaving, I can’t say why but he doesn’t do it for me. If Jennifer is staying, I would rather she be with Daniel.
Now, if the show would hurry up and put EJ and Sami back together again, I would really be happy. Safe was the most boring couple and I ff thru their scenes. I much prefer Lucas and Sami as BFF’s. They have great chemistry as friends but not so much as lovers. Just not believable. I want … no … demand EJAMI.
Jennifer and Daniel DO need to reunite. Her and Jack being together is SO dumb and outdated! But I disagree about an EJami reunion…bring on EJole! I respect your opinion, though.

Days need to write a real love story for EJ and Samantha, they need to commit to this chemistry filled, dynamic and compelling couple. They truly are supercouple material & that is Days forte. Follow the chemistry, give them their chance. James Scott and Alison Sweeney are in a league of their own, they are so charasmatic together. The show needs to capitalize on it’s best asset and move forward with this love story,

I’m only watching Days ATM. Some of it is good and some, not so much. I’ve really enjoyed Lexi’s story, and I’m glad Renee Jones is getting a good farewell on the show. I’ve loved her scenes with Abe and EJ and Stephano. So touching. And Renee, along with James Scott, James Reynolds and Joe Mascolo, have given moving performances.
I’m enjoying Will’s story although I think he’s being more than a bit of a pill to Sami. And I love Chandler Massey. I liked the staging of Stephano’s death, although I’m praying the Phoenix will rise again. Joe Mascolo is just too good to be missed. I’ve also enjoyed seeing EJ and Sami develop a close friendship again. It’s almost like old times. James Scott and Alison Sweeney have such remarkable chemistry together that I hope the show continues to capitalize on them. They’re foolish if they don’t.
Some things have been misses for me. The safe house fiasco was one, along with the performances. So amatuerish. The Nikki pregnancy story has been another bust. Nicole has no legitimate argument for hiding the paternity of her child. Too bad the writers didn’t give the character some dignity and self respect and had her walk away from the mess with EJ, because she’ll always be second or third best in that relationship. I also don’t like the hypocrisy of all the “good” people of Salem. Bo, Hope, Marlena, John and Rafe all look like the biggest set of criminals going. But the Days has always championed the ‘good’ guy’s right to be hypocritical.
I do hope the problems with storytelling are worked out with the new old round of writers. I’ve watched Days since it began, and I hate that it’s such a hot mess now. So sad, and so unfair to the actors and the audience.
This past week seemed to be the only week that it actually felt like sweeps. The previous weeks felt like it was for a non-sweeps period, very odd. Some good things happened so I’m happy about that. For example, I cry every time I see Lexie try to make amends and final requests with those she loves and I lost it when she talked with EJ. I was pitiful! However, there are a lot of things that needs to be fixed on this show. The pacing is horrible. People seem to have the same conversations every week, as if viewers have the memory of a goldfish. I would love it if EJ would stop begging at Nicole’s feet. She’s plotting to keep ANOTHER kid from him, I wish he would wash his hands of her and just focus on making sure he is a part of that kid’s life when it’s born. Rafe needs to stop being a smug hypocritical bastard but at this rate, this seems like a pointless request. Hope springs eternal, though. I would love more balance; characters like Sonny, Justin, Adrienne, Maggie, Victor need to be incorporated more into the stories. I have my favorites but there is such a thing as too much exposure. Finally, could the writers please pick up the pace and bring EJ and Sami together? The hints are everywhere. Nicole refuses to get back with EJ because he’s in denial over his feelings for Sami. Lucas screaming to Sami that she has unresolved feelings for EJ. Will states that they will eventually get back together. Lexie predicts a wife and family for EJ and Sami conveniently shows up right after she says it.. My personal favorite: Stefano stating the painful obvious- the reason why EJ cheated with Sami is that he loves her more than Nicole. It’s knocking me over the head, I get it! It’s right there and I love that they are friends right now, but come on now! Let’s get to it! We all know it’s coming and the show has been trying to dance around it for years, it’s beyond annoying. Life is short and nothing is guaranteed, can those two get together before I croak? That would be nice.
Happy to see an increase in the ratings. It’s a start but so much work has to be done to save these shows. I’m trying so hard to hang in with DAYS – Marlene and Darrell wrote a good Will story, brought Sami back to life and created an EJ/Will relationship. However I have serious issues with their pacing of the show. I hope Tomlin & Whitesell will improve pace and finally move many of these stories forward. My personal belief is that DAYS cannot go back to Safe/Ejole or the like – those couples played out long ago and helped DAYS get into the ratings mess they are in. You simply can’t go back.
“You simply can’t go back.” Perfect explanation for why bringing back old characters and keeping them in old plots didn’t work out for Days. Fans want new twists on old themes, which is precisely the reason why Ejole, Lumi, or Safe should stay in the past.

I’m happy to see that Days is making a gain in the ratings. The writers need to continue to build on the relationship b/t EJ and Will, and bring EJAMI closer. EJ and Sami deserve a real love story. James and Alison make the show worth watching in my opinion
Lexie’s story line is very moving, and I’m mildly interested in the Stephano whodunit.
Get rid of Madison, Ian, Gabby, they are all useless characters. Wrap up this Nicole pregnancy story line. Nicole hiding the baby from EJ is just a repeat of what Sami did with Sidney.
Great to see EJAMi as friends. As far as repairing the SAFE relationship….are you kidding? They were completely boring, and Sami was like a Stepford Wife when she was with Rafe.

It was a good week. Really liked the noir dramá of the Stephano shooting.
Thoroughly into Lexi’s last scenes. Makes me cry and over the years what they did with her character made me dislike her.
But the best parts — of course! Are the Ejami interactions!

Days is doing really well by having Will storyline more than just him being gay, but also have him come out and point out the subtle hints of a flirty relationship between him and Sonny. Maggie and Victor have some drama FINALLY after not being seen for a while. The Gabi thing looks like it will end soon, and Melanie is leaving so Melanie and Chad will probably discover her secret, as will everyone else. But with Melanie leaving, does that mean that Chad and Gabi will reunite? If Chad discovers that Gabi has been trying to split him and Melanie, surely he wouldn’t get back with her…?? I would love ac Chabigail reunion, but she has chemistry with Cameron, too. Jennifer, please get back with Daniel before he becomes too infatuated with Nicole! A hookup between those two is fine but she needs to be with either Rafe or EJ. Rafe should either get back with Sami or be with Carrie. Sami should either be with Rafe or Lucas. But PLEASE NO EJAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EJole is WAY better, and plus EJ didn’t rape her, nor did Nicole shoot him in the head. Sami and EJ are NOT true love!
I think EJ and Sami are borderline soulmates or they wouldn’t do and say what they say to each other and still end up in bed. They’ve had a pull to each other since he showed up in town, and it’s still there.
Jack should leave Jen because I’ve really come to dislike her. Especially the way she treated Jack during that awful Jack/Jen/Daniel triangle. Now her and Jack are engaged and I didn’t even see their reunion on screen. Such bad writing there.
Chad can leave town and take Gabi and Rafe with him. In fact he should at Melanie as well. She’s been pretty useless lately. She was more enjoyable when she first came to town.
Well, Melanie (and Ian) are leaving town anyway. Melanie will not be here for July, and Ian will be gone after summer break. I like Gabi, Chad and Rafe being on screen, but they need better storylines. If Carrie is leaving, we can see more of Rafe being at work, interacting with Gabi, Nicole and Daniel (and maybe Sami..), and just being more interesting. But I will miss seeing him with Carrie. Gabi needs to either move on or get with Chad already! I think she will be interesting when everyone finds out about her stalker thing, and how Rafe will react. It would be nice to see her more often with Rafe, maybe even with Nicole or Carrie. I would like to see Sami and Gabi have a showdown, where Gabi is mad at Sami for cheating on her brother with EJ. As for Chad, if he leaves, there will only be Stefano. I would like to see Chad change the DiMera family for the better, as well as see how he reacts once everyone finds out that EJ is not a DiMera. I think and EJ-Chad rivalry over DiMera Enterprises would be nice.
I would love for Days to finally give Ejami a chance. JS and AS have such a unique interaction when they are actually allowed to be together. Chemistry between actors can NOT be forced it HAS to come naturally and it is definitely there with JS and AS.
I am so tired of the Days of the Perfect, Hypocrite Rafe and the even more hypocritical Brady Clan! No wonder Joe Mascolo is getting pissed off about how Stephano is being written. Ooops global warning, lets blame the Dimeras, oops earthquake lets blame the Dimeras, oops someone farted, lets blame the Dimeras. Enough already! The keystone cops of Salem are the BIGGEST hypocrites of them all and to put Rafe in charge of the investigation, predictable!! And of COURSE he will blame Stephanos murder on EJ, uggh enough already!
If Days wants to continue with BETTER ratings then continue with the story lines that they are finally putting together, Cafe, Ejami, Wilson. Come on people the past three years of Ejole and Safe have brought Days to their LOWEST, why would ANYONE want the show to return to that? It would be DEATH to Days!
I am loving the scenes between Sami and E.J. Ali and James have tons of chemistry and I can’t wait to see them finally become a couple! It’s their time now, all the other couples got their chance! EJami is the best thing about DAYS (right now).
RJ is doing an amazing job, Lexie is making me cry. I will miss her terribly. I am also enjoying the relationship between E.J. and Will.
I love Bill and Katie over at B&B, I love that Katie is pregnant. Now I just need Hope to dump Liam, Steffy can have him! Love my girl Brooke, just wish she was with Nick instead of Ridge! Team Logan!

I’ve been loving EJ and Sami lately and can’t wait to see them toogether. Those too are just amazing in scenes. The way EJ looks at her is breath taking. I’ve never got that vibe with EJ and Nicole. Always got the vibe that EJ was settling because he couldn’t have Sami. And now they’ll be extra drama with Nicole pregnant. I still want EJ and Sami together in the end.
Loving the Will story, and I’m so sad about Lexie. I just learned from my Aunt that the actress is leaving so Lexie really will die, and that will be heartbreaking.
Who killed Stefano is kind of interesting, but I bet he’s not dead. Stefano never dies.
Rafe is so boring! Does he do anything but smirk on screen. Even in scenes that don’t require a smirk; he still does it. I hope Nicole ditches him, and get with Daniel. That kiss between them was hot. But Nicole looks like she’s playing them.
In this time when all soaps are hanging on and trying to survive, I am thrilled that DAYS did so well this week. They were showcasing a few of their best actors in some really dramatic material. We had the very emotional storyline with Lexie (Renee Jones) and how she is deteriorating and saying her final good byes to her family & friends and making peace with her family. Truly emotional – charged and powerful stuff from her! The Stefano storyline has got everyone going and what a way to end it, leaving everyone hanging on! The dramatic opera music by Luciano Pavarotti and the cresendo ending that the “Phoenix” was killed! We all know that he never dies and “rises from the ashes”! Joseph Mascolo will be back or his name isn’t Stefano DiMera! Finally we are seeing characters I believe the show has forgotten about, the Kiriakis family, Adrienne, Sonny and Justin. Hallelujah! DAYS needs to stop the madness with Nicole having EJ’s baby (seriously!) we all know she is in LOVE with Brady, REUNITE THEM! #Bricole2012!! Now you have her scheming with Rafe? He is playing the Baby’s Daddy again? OMG! Enough! Who by the way is so over played and over used. You need to know when a character needs to be in a story or not in one, he is in everything. I don’t understand DAYS need to inject Rafe into stories like that. Onto, EJ and Sami who are finally starting to make progress after years of hurdles and emotional obstacles, DAYS don’t be foolish to pass up on this amazing couple, they are untapped potential of stories and chemistry for years to come. They (EJami) could be DAYS signature couple truly, they are made for it. I haven’t loved a couple like this since the early days of Bope! I love that DAYS took the step to do the storyline with Will (the very talented Chandler Massey) and his sexuality and Will coming out. Kudos to them on that, it’s 2012 not 1950 anymore! The only stories I didn’t care for and they were a bit contrived were, the Safe house 6, The Arms deal, and bringing back “Princess Gina and the “Pawn”/”Alamania”. Otherwise, June feels like sweeps not May. Weird right? I feel like they are moving in the right direction DAYS and I am very happy they are starting to move up in the ratings. They need to keep it up with the engaging stories, great writing and character consistency and it will be all good! Great progress and please keep up the good work, DAYS! The fans are depending on you!
I love Days! I thought the Stefano murder was fun to watch. I hate that Stefano was murdered, but hopefully he’ll be coming back!
My 2 fave dynamics on Days are EJ/Will and EJ/Sami.
I also enjoy Will/Sonny and Will/Sami scenes too!
I primarily watch Days for EJAMI and hope to see a romance between them soon! EJAMI fans have waited 6 years to see them together as a real couple and it’s time for them to be together! Such amazing chemistry!

What I’ve really enjoyed are all the scenes with Lexie (heartbreaking!), as well as Will and Sami. Go Renee, Chandler and Ali!
Sami is my #1 favorite character on Days, and I feel like the real Sami has returned after the past few years of a weird adaptation of Sami beginning with the horrible “Safe”house. Thank you soap gods for getting her away from Rafe. And Lucas being back just reminds me of why I want more than anything for Sami to be with EJ. EJami are just pure soapy goodness. I’ve been SO happy that they’ve had some great scenes lately and hope for a lot more.
I am loving Days, now that Sami is returning to herself, and spending more time with Ej. I will not miss a day, I want to see every bit of returning Ejami.
Just want to say that I normally don¨t watch soaps, but after seeing the couple EJami I ‘ve become interested in Days, and can say that the writers would be stupid if they don’t take advantage of their explosive chemistry, in addition, they are interesting it’s not exactly a mediocre soap couple we’re talking about here, then I think they should get rid of characters that are boring. Today’s television viewers love complex characters, passion, desire and who wants to see super heros with zero personality, maybe 20 years ago but now it’s gray characters that are popular and if soaps want to survive? they should probably adapt to what is in demand for now and adjust their stories after that. And the most interesting family is without doubt Dimera family, I really hope that the character Stefano comes back.
What!?!? is with Daniel kissing Nicole…. I don’t think so… was she doing that cause she “switched” DNA? Hello. WHY NOT KAYLA AND DANIEL? Daniel… needs to zip it up… and tryst with a real woman… patient, simmering, flirting, wanton lusts… Kayla is more than able. Hospital action.
i have to laugh about Austins’ sheer what? ignorance? radiates happiness… LOL… i don’t see what’s going on… I’m having a baby! LOL. oh Carrie… muster up some libido… this is YOUR husband. at least billie is trying to steer him to wake up. does any one think Billie and Shane have that it factor? i do… for lack of giving billie something real to do.
what about Will testing Mothers muster… my gay son is in love already? LOL. will was “holding” sonny… as Sammi’s walking in DAYS “time” square.. of hortons place and walks innocently in to Sonny’s coffee shop.
altho, i will say… will and lucas need to voice more than… “it’s not all about you…” to Sammi. read her the riot act… as only these two should.
IMO… doesn’t Sammi, seem to have come in to her own… ala… grand dame… of DAYS.. she’s a full figured woman… ala queen mum Marlena… when Sammi quaffs her hair bun style… she reels old serial gussied up. it aids mystique and lends herself meaning for acting soap. it’s a nice change from her immature spoiled child antics and “tantrums’. in this respect… I still see EJ and Nicole together… OK.. Nicole connives and leads us to believe she can get away with things that i don’t buy in to… but… she’s a temptress that’s hard to resist… and EJ likes that spirited strong willed persona.
Nicole… for stories sake… i believe is cute… underlying playful with Rafe. Now… i’d like Rafe to Man up… his alter ego… his twin… is what he should draw from… he wasn’t playing off of sammi, carrie, or nicole… he was acting first… take the first step and showed us Rafe’s a Man! OK… i’m reaching… ? it’s just that… most don’t like his acting.. and i think when he was being held prisoner… was when he was believeable… Now.. I’m still liking him and carrie… and with Nicole as well (he’s sensitive- but that gets old… as he does it too much)… it’s just that he needs to act like his alter ego… evil twin.. to man up. FIGHT FOR CARRIE…. i know… PLUG… i wish carrie was staying.
Lexie is so moving… her sans make-up… subtle body language… “I’m not ready” . the fallout… with Theo.. hasn’t even been broached… and it’s heart wrenching… i’ts a salute and tribute to the veterans… i’m liking Abe’s resolute stoned face… will crash later. days… plug… Fay. It’s intelligent adult story… that these two re-kindle what was happening… if not with Abe.. then, with Roman. She’s such a sexy lady… just make her alive… sultry presence for the Men folk.
EJ is Mr. Days… they have to correct this mishap… he is the Phoenix’ SON. Stefano and EJ belong. not since Kristen and EJ… has Stefano… had family that he 100% bonded with. notwithstanding Lexie. that lived with him at the DiMera Estate.
let’s see more of the Abby/Cameron romance… i thought they had instant chemistry…
i’m sure this will happen once Molly, gabby, and chad… go backburner… after melanie leaves.

not since Kristen and Peter… has Stefano connected with any one. Stefano has many layers to his persona… and his family is true to form… EJ is like a chip off the old block…
I saw Stefano in his coffin today. Kate touched his hand and Lexi kissed him. How could he not be dead? He would be cold to the touch. I hope he isn’t dead and he doesn’t come back as a ghost. That didn’t work for Alan Q on GH. Did they take another dead body and make it look like Stefano’s? When will we find out the truth?

‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast
After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.
Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.
The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.
In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.
Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”
As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”
Calderon took to his Instagram story and simply shared, “Thank You, Brilliant Minds.”
The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Sophia Seemingly Plans to End Her Life, But Not Before Setting Fire to Johnny’s Apartment With Him Trapped Inside
The final few moments of the Thursday, April 30 episode of Days of our Lives, will pave the way, to what just may be the end of Sophia Choi’s (Rachel Boyd) life, but not as you may think!
After an unhinged Sophia paid a visit to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), maced him in the eyes, knocked him out and then tied up to a chair, now conscious, she lets him know that she holds him responsible for all the trouble and trauma she has gone through from adopting her child, and her being sent to a mental institution.
So instead of the unregistered gun Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) gave her to finish off Johnny, Sophia sets up a plan to light candle, use nail polish remover and turn on the gas on the stove to ultimately create a mass explosion, which although Johnny pleaded to her not to that to all the innocent people inside his apartment building, she doesn’t seem to care.

FIERY FACE OFF
The plan was supposed to be, after she takes care of Johnny she will toss the gun in the Salem River, then focus on payback to Holly Jonas before leaving town to start a new life.
Now, Sophia makes her exit, leaving Johnny to be a few moments away from an explosion or gas inhalation, when Chanel (Raven Bowens) comes home after awaiting the results of her mammogram. She sees Johnny tied up, as he panics and tells her to put out the flame on the candle, things go awry, and a fire has begun and everything may go up in flames with Johnny and Chanel inside.

A BROKEN SOPHIA
Back in her room, Sophia breaks down after reading the social media comments about her, she planted, and then starts writing a suicide or farewell note which says. “I’m tired of begging for forgiveness for my mistakes. All I wanted was to move forward, to be loved and understood. But it’s clear that I was never going to get that. Holly Jonas said that I was dead to her. So, as her former BFF, I’m going to make her dream a reality.”

A DEADLY TRAP
Now, the fate of Johnny, Chanel and Sophia will be revealed on tomorrow’s May 1st cliffhanger, which may be the end of Sophia when she crosses paths with Kirsten at the bridge near the river. We do know Rachel Boyd is no longer appearing in the show credits section and is now off contract with the soap.

Jacob Martinez is ‘Days of Our Lives’ New Javi Hernandez Replacing Al Calderon in the Role
Finally! The casting has been revealed as to just who would be Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Days of our Lives, Javi Hernandez. On Friday, April 30, the long-running soap opera revealed Jacob Martinez is taking on the part and he will first be seen this coming June 30th and then on all-new episodes streaming on Peacock.
As previously reported, the popular Calderon exited the soap opera last year to join the cast of the NBC primetime medical drama, Brilliant Minds as nurse Nico Silva, who in May will air the remainder of their second season. The series has been on the bubble for renewal by the network. His last episodes as Javi will also air this May on DAYS.
Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming, Martinez has been secretly ensconced in all the drama in Salem for quite some time. When viewers see the new Javi in story, we should learn what will happen in Javi’s relationship with Leo Stark played by Emmy winner, Greg Rikaart, plus his continued relationship with his relatives in the Hernandez clan. Currently, when Javi returned to Salem after taking care of his ailing father, and after the bust-up of his marriage to Leo thanks to Dimitri (Peter Porte), he claimed he had moved on with someone else while he was away from Salem.

Like Calderon before him, Martinez is a multi-talented actor and singer. Jacob’s resume is impressive having appeared in the musical In Pieces: The Musical at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater and he was hand-picked by Joey Contreras to play the role of Grey. Other credits include: the short film, Memory Swim and the play Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage.
Martinez hails from Norfolk, Nebraska and appeared when he was very young at the Johnny Carson Theatre, and as DAYS fans know, Jacob is now working at the Days of our Lives studios, right where the “Tonight Show” is filled. In addition, Jacob Martinez is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA).
Taking to his Instagram on Thursday, April 30 once the news of his casting was revealed, Martinez, expressed, “Way too many people to thank in one post, so I’ll just say THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART to each and every person who continues to pour into me and encourage me to chase my dreams. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am. I already feel beyond blessed, supported, and loved. See you all in Salem ⏳”
