RATINGS: Days of our Lives Only Soap To Gain In Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo!
The ratings are out for the week of January 8 through the 12th, and it was Days of our Lives that was the lone daytime drama series to garner additional total viewers for the week and more.
The NBC soap opera added + 12,000, and also was the only show to add viewers in the key 18-49 womens demo. DAYS also added the most viewers in the 25-54 female demo.
In story, it was Tyler’s Christopher’s second week on air as Stefan O. DiMera, as well as Lani (Sal Stowers) learning that she was pregnant, and everybody double-crossing each other for control of DiMera Enterprises!
Over at The Young and the Restless, the top-rated CBS soap was strong in total households, and remained in the top spot, and showed some gains in the 25-54 demo. The Bold and the Beautiful was down slightly in total viewers, and lost viewers in all the key demos.
As for General Hospital, they lost the most total viewers for the week with -75,000. and were down in key demos, but up in women 18-34. View the entire ratings picture via SON here.

The Friday JToria rating is pretty LIT on Y&R
I like JToria but I don’t think they were instrumental for Friday’s ratings. Their hot love scene was several seconds before the end of the show.
I think, the weather likely had also a lot to do with soaps’ ratings increase this week (over the last year).
They do prove how much chemistry they have. I just have to wonder WHY they put them back together and if JT isn’t playing Victoria somehow.

Most all seem to be watching Anytime Anywhere at their convenience…
Unless you have a Nielsen box, it doesnt matter what /when or how you watch. Its not counted for these ratings.
If you have a box, watch live if possible or before midnight.
I thought they are taking into consideration DVR viewing within 24 hours or something like that.

Unless one loves Days and has been watching for many years, as I have ( since my toddler ‘days’ , LOL), one will never appreciate the bond with characters ( mostly the vets) …..and for the show itself….I applaud everything ….the actors, the writers, the staff , all their efforts to making DAYS great again!! Ha?!?! LOL.
its never really winter in Salem for some…its still January and yet Jen was only wearing some sleeveless dress in the town square and yet Eric had a coat and a scarf around his neck-lol

It’s California….they forget.
Last month it was frigid in the northeast …..we put our winter gear on in the house, before exiting….
Very unrealistic….Sharon ( Y&R) vacuuming in stilettos…..too many discrepancies to count…but, we love our soaps, regardless, right??

That is how my 6 and 8-year-olds dress when it is in the 30s and 40s in California. Flip flops and shorts and run out of the house without a jacket. But they will wear long sleeves when it is 100 just because they are too lazy to find something suitable for the weather. HaHa!
I am getting completely different vibes….what is John Black doing? Did he kill Andre? I think that all these weird ‘maneuvers’ by him are heralding his departure?
Days is doing superbly….either he is leaving or there is a plotline in the works, where John is ‘pushed’ to kill Steve? Who are the bad guys behind this?
Seems he was programmed to be The Pawn again. With all the Stefano talk it makes you wonder.

Get rid of Wes…..he was a catalyst to Faison’s capture….he’s done…..but, as I mentioned when he first came, and lately, he may be Anna’s son….or could be Alex’s ( AMC) . He could have been reared by evil aunt Charlotte ( AMC) who was in cahoots with Faison? I still think Griffin fits into this ‘melodrama’…..not Duke’s son.
I’m worried they are about to make Kevin insane. Was Kin hinting at that in the preview? Was Kevin holding Cesar’s autopsied brain in the preview? Is Kevin about to turn into a mad scientist and Jon gets sent packing like Genie?

You are so right in thinking it….I, also, suspect ( probably wrongly) that Kevin may have been working with Andre?
Maybe, Kevin wants to study the brain of a maniac ( Faison’s) and what makes it tick?….. I mean, he does want to conduct a study on Franco….the more the merrier?? LOL.
If TPTB are ‘kicking’ Kevin to the curb, it was a last minute decision….just as as Laura….just as Andre.
In that case, what of Genie? Gone for good? Laura with no Kevin? I was hoping against hope, Carrie, that everything would be ironed out and PC would get back to ‘normal’, whatever normal is.
As it is, what storylines will we be watching? The incredibles? Sonny and the gang?
Oh, wait—Julian, the other crook with his ex/new bride, the mayor. Oh, joy!!
“The Incredibles?” Oh, that’s a good one, CeeCeeGirl! Never say never where Sonny is concerned…no matter how much of him we get, there’s always room for more! As for “whatever normal is” in Port Charles remains anyone’s guess when crypt trysts, endless gangster goings-on, adults acting like hormonally-charged teens and the “living dead” are par for the course! To put it another way, whatever is generally-referred to as socially-acceptable behavior is considered outre’ in the @$$-backward GH universe! But this bizarro Kevin thing may be a bridge too far even for this whacked-out waterfront town. Perhaps Genie Francis should thank her lucky stars she doesn’t have to be a party to such a profoundly disturbing storyline, but the fans are still being robbed of her potentially fine performances by Laura’s uncalled-for departure!!!
Griffin is a wussy! Why was he almost in tears as they wheeled Nathan in on a stretcher and then too surgery? I cannot imagine doctors getting so emotional.

LOL…”The Incredibles” and “The Invincibles”….what more a’ propos name is there to describe the “chosen” ones? They have overtaken GH……nowhere to run.
I don’t get the reason why TPTB are turning Carly into a worse shrew than she already is….now she bullies pregnant women? …she wears the pants…I know it’s a passe’ expression, but what kind of hardened mafioso is Sonny? Carly needs to be tied down….sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong, is her life’s mission. Fishwife.
The fact that Sonny said his father ‘hangs’ with the wrong people drew an unlady-like snort from me, …HaHa. Isn’t he, himself, the wrong “kind of people”? Unreal!!
Furthermore, Avery calls Carly, “Mommy”? That is truly an abomination….
Pray tell, writers….what, exactly, makes Sonny and Carly better parents?
A couple of wrongs ( among so many more) need to be made right: vindicate AJ’s death; and , give Avery back to her REAL mother…..that is soooo wrong everywhichway.

I am not a violent person because I have never had the need to strike anyone, LOL…but I wish Nelle had landed one upside Carly’s head, albeit Nelle is no angel, but, no more devilish than Carly….they are cut from the same multi-colored cloth…….

Matt was probably emotional because he knew Ryan was leaving…..they may have become good friends….as Dominick. I thought DZ was so authentic in expressing his emotions.
Sure, they were acting, but some of their ‘real’ personal feelings do come into play, I would think.
I do get what you’re saying….doctors should be impassive when it comes to patients. Their job is to be rational, stoic and professional

It likely took a chunk out of the budget to bring Steve Burton back, so I would expect more exits over the next weeks.

GH’s ratings will keep going down and down some more unless/until Genie is brought back. The show has become such an unwatchable hot mess under the smug, arrogant Frank Valentini. It’s abundantly clear that he, his staff, and TPTB at ABC have zero regard for fans who’ve supported this show for years. All they care about is having Frank’s personal pets front and center on the show day after day, week after week. I’m done. This is no longer General Hospital and hasn’t been for quite some time. It’s surprising they haven’t changed the title.
Several of my friends who watched GH for 35+ years also gave the show up permanently within the last year, and I bet there’s much more where that came from.
You are so right, Pat,….I posted on the Ryan Peavey site out of habit…..LOL….I guess I was caught up in his possible death?, and Ms Gati’s impassioned scene, over her son.
As I said, Genie is gold and her ‘non-presence’ is strongly, and deeply felt…..GH needs to straighten itself out in the name of survival.
Let’s face it, CeeCee, there’s not a dime’s worth of difference amongst any of the soap threads anymore…no matter the places, the names remain the same!
Genie was off the show for large parts of many years and the show did fine in the ratings.
I think it’s a good sign that all 4 soaps were up from the same time last year.
With head writing duties being assumed by Ron Carlivati, it isn’t at all surprising that Days is seeing an uptick. This guy knows how to write a soap! GH started to flounder immediately following his departure, and it has become virtually unwatchable. The new writing team really dropped the ball with the return of Steve Burton to the point where they are rewriting history and disrespecting viewer’s intelligence. When good actors struggle with poor writing it is obvious, and that’s what is now happening episode after episode. Can’t help but wonder if this is the network’s plan so they have a reason to cancel their last remaining soap.

it’s amazing because i’m so caught up in DAYS and GH… and yet I’m keeping up with @GH because of all the fervor that’s going on.
DAYS is going so well… that I can watch @my leisure. it’s a beautiful thing
altho… I’m so emotional about Steve “Patch” and JOHN. he’s doing this for a reason I cannot fathom… tried to share with @Celia… that it’s John way of bringing about a miracle.. and we’ll see Steve soon getting both his eyes . OY. because I can’t answer…what I will offer… is it’s said it’s tied in to Lisa Rinna ‘ Billie. even then i’m like what’s going on.

Thaao … I really appreciate what he brings to this show… he’s like this contemporary and classic combined… a mix and aura of high brow and wheeling and dealing shenanigan that gets misunderstood… he’s a mixed bag of comedy drama and hi jinx… the full on throttle for watching his acting skill and mindset REEL…

Will and Paul w/Sonny: IMAGINE my surprise when I truly thought the obvious that it was a done deal… Sonny and Will…. would reunite.. and I had imagined my crestfallen… disappointment for Paul… as he would step back as the heralded couple would just step up. PAUL and WILL are working magic… this dance I never imagined… kudos boffo and cajones to WILL . YES…. my WILL manning UP .. because Paul is HOT. hey I take the grandma Marlena approach… with . when it comes to Wills happiness… i’m welling up because it’s Paul and Will !!!
Lani and JJ – I LOVE THESE TWO TO BITS. THANK again the soap god… that @DAYS rehired Lani… she’s a dream .. her simple acting approach… not emitting too much but plenty of axpression in her face tells it all… she full on LOVES … loves the people in her life… from dad Abe to brother Theo to JJ to respecting Valerie… and of course her attraction to Eli… and woah the combustion between her and JJ.. is real. Casey Moss, from his debut has always had the acting chop. when he pulls out all the stops from wherever his inner being sets the bar… Casey moss brings it. I simply love watching these two actors.
Chad and Abs…with Stefan ? I can’t go their yet.. because i’m enjoying watching Marci Miller… react to Tyler Christopher… it’s fascinating me

Eve and Brady : Eric Martolf deserves a LEAD ACTING NOMINATION… with RC writing… he’s in a whole league unto himself… I didn’t want Eve to be that caught up in just Eric… hint hint … back to Wally Kurth Justin. but this just brought all the Kiriakis ALIVE. on simmer and no holds barred… with Kassie and Eric… a fierce reckoning should any one dare tango with these two
for the SORAS : I’m so sorry… that Theo is not with. that’s a whole ‘nother hurt at this time.
Tripp – Claire – Ciera Alice. you couldn’t have dreamed this up… for all the brouhaha that fired up the fans. I will always miss Lauren Boles… but now… the recast TOOK and she will never let up… kinda reminds you of the tempestuous Erica Kane… she’s a spitfire. I love you Ciera Alice.
Tripp is a another find that is melded perfect with Steve and Kayla…. how is he going to juggle Claire and Ciera ? I don’t know but he’s such a laid back character … and it’s been so nice and refreshing to watch how he mixes.
OK… I even like what’s been happening with Melissa Reeves’ Jenny Bear. I DO NOT WANT Jennifer and Eric to become a couple… FANS have already hollered on that . this 6 month wait has an intensity that will set afire any time fans don’t like … he’s too hot. go and make donuts

I absolutely love Tyler Christopher in his new role as Stefan O. (Rather ironic since Stephen Nichols played his uncle on GH as “Stefan” Cassadine. I always missed Nichols on GH; loved his portrayai as Stefan Cassadine and I loved the scenes at the mansion in the early days…when Stefan and Nicolas moved there…and Alexis was found out to be Stefan’s half sister/Nic’s aunt. The parties they had there..the Masquerade Ball, etc. That was such an incredible time on GH…really packed with adventure, intrigue and magic…
But I digress! I love seeing both actors on Days as well as Mary Beth, Wally and Greg Vaughn. It’s like GH2! I hope Tyler and Stephen have some scenes together…
I think the actress playing Ciara is gorgeous; love her hair. On the other hand, I am, to be polite, not that enthralled with Olivia Rose Keegan…Claire…on any level.
And, if Steve (Monsieur Nicols) says, “I love you, BABY” one more time…ahhhh…can he not call Kayla by any other name???? Baby, baby, baby…no. Do love them though…
I see a romance brewing between Ciara and Tripp. And, with all her love for Theo, Claire will probably wind up being jealous.

I also am one who really appreciates an actor who can convey so much with just their eyes. It is a rare talent and not many exhibit. Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers), Ben Stiller (There’s Something About Mary), and Matthew Rhys (The Americans) — this guy could put his body on vacation and just leave his eyes in the scene, he is that good! They all seem to exhibit this organic affect that really resonates with me and does not seem forced.

Patrick. I hear u loud and clear. I totally agree with you about Carrie, JJ, Abby and Stefan, and Tripp. Those are my must see characters and stories. I disagree with Eric and Jenn though. I d love to see Eric together witj Jenn til Nicole comes back to rekindle their romance. Ericole are a days supercouple.
Oh, Patrick!!!!….my poet….Noooo, not Claire—terrible acting….and, albeit I like nuCiera better than the sorased original, she overacts…..no one can do a 180 the way this characted did..—-not believable.
Tripp ( sp) is unbelievably good ( the actor; that is). He is ‘collected’ and mature for his age….he ‘has it bad’ for Claire ( ugh), but tries hard to control himself.
You know what I think? Tripp and Ciera will fall for each other….I will welcome that—Claire is like Devon ( Y&R) to me……they both look twelve.

One thing I have noticed about Y&R and Days is that CBS and NBC promo them with ads throughout the day. You wouldn’t think it was their preferred demo, but saw Y&R teaser just this morning on CBS morning news. Can’t hurt. Whereas ABC does nothing with GH.
The writers on GH have done a decent job.
Over at Y&R which has such good ratings, the stories SUCK! Dina was the best part of the show and she is off the air. Thank God Scott is gone! Nick, Noah, Billy, and Mariah are floating around with nothing to do. ANYONE attached to Devon is FF city! He gets all this screen time and he is the worst! Michelle Stafford could be finishing up at GH, bring her back, for starters. AND, Muhney can save the show. It just has to be written and produced as an american soap and not some over seas garbage!

I think that having homosexuality is wrong on your show. I caught my 2 young sons watching it after school. I was horrified. I never watched it again myself. My 2 sons saw them in bed. I had to get this channel blocked. .

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali
Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.
Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).
Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier). However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).
Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”
“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.
Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”
In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.

In a metaphor for the start of the school year and their upcoming anniversary in November, Days of our Lives revealed its “Class of Season 62,” with a very clever yearbook montage on their social media handles, welcoming new cast members, while paying respect to the veterans and “class”-iying the other characters in Salem.
The official Days of our Lives Instagram account shared on the posting, “The Class of Salem Season 62 has arrived. Familiar faces, new names and plenty of personality. Flip through our yearbook for a peek at this year’s class.”
Let’s take a look at how they broke it all down: The Salem Yearbook starts with saying “another unforgettable season,” with some group pics, and then we dovetail into Salem’s new class which features: Sydney Malakeh (Sydney DiMera), Brandon Butler (Mason Whitfield), Angelica Nero (Victoria Kiriakis), Cole Gersmeyer (Thomas DiMera) and Lorelei Olivia Mote (Rachel Black).

Following the ‘Recess” section with some group snaps, comes “Homeroom Highlights” with: Abigail Klein (Stephanie Johnson), Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), Rob Scott Wilson (Alex Kiriakis), Lamon Archey (Eli Grant) and Sal Stowers (Lani Price Grant).
The “Salem Spectator” section features: Conner Floyd (Chad DiMera), Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark), Stowers again, and Ashely Puzemis (Holly Jonas). In the “Afternoon Sweets” section look for: Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis) and Linsey Godfey (Sarah Horton), Emily O’ Brien (Gwen Rizchech), Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera/Susan Banks), Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady), plus Jackée Harry (Paulina Price).
Towards the end of the yearbook, veteran performers such as: Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Johnson), Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson), Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and Josh Taylor (Roman Brady) are featured, plus Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans), James Reynolds (Abe Carver) and Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux), Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) and Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Kiraikis) with her on-screen daughter, Linsey Godfrey.
The Salem Yearbook comes to a conclusion noting “Big things happening in Salem” and to tune-in on Peacock, where we also find Jacob Martinez (Javi Hernandez), Maggie Carney (Rita Lesley), and a host of other favorites previewing what’s to come this fall.

‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others
As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.
As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.
So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

CHECKMATE?
In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.
The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”
Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.
LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?
In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”
In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”
Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?
